Mosey back to Shovel Flag for COT

Moelskin:

The Pre workout KB Beatdown is worth mentioning this (end every) week. The beatdown consisted 3 rounds through the 5 stations. Between each round was an impromptu core session lead by each of the 3 attendees in turn. For those who have not attended an Outland style Kettle Bell Beatdown (KBB) I highly recommend it. It’s always a good time and sometimes accompanied by some bad music to make you work harder.

–          Two arm KB swing

–           Single arm KB swing

–          Snatches

–          Mike Tyson K/O punches with dumbbells

–          -Jump Rope (cause you gotta have cardio)

Zip-A-Dee spotted some tires from a distance that we almost made good use of today. On the mosey over to the tires we were shouting out ideas for how we could use these big rubber doughnuts. The usual ideas came to mind… tire flips, tire burpees. overhead carries etc. As we got a little closer we found ourselves staring straight into the face of some real pain. several of the tires weighed a couple hundred pounds. In the name of self preservation the PAX turned around and high tailed it on to the next pain station.

Tony Hawk reared his ugly head for the second time at Outland. This combo merkin/core/agility exercise provoked lotsa chatter.

Congrats to Horse Head who skipped out on Outland so he could bring the F3 pain train to his home town of Florence (no, not Itlay, although that IS where he got his nickname… Italy… The Godfather… Horse Head. Get it?) in his own words “Launch was good times.  We had over 30 show up, with 19 from Florence.  15 were FNGs…”

19 FNGs is a GREAT turnout. http://f3nation.com/2014/05/31/florence-sc-is-off-and-running/

Also, Kudos to Hair Band who was absent this week so that he could run a local 5k in support of a family in need. HB, feel free to share the details if you want.

NEWS:   Outland will be closed on June 14th in support of the F3 Area 51 CSAUP Olympics. All PAX are highly encouraged to go and participate. Should be lotsa fun. http://f3nation.com/2014/05/30/f3-area-51-csaup-olympics-preblast/

that is all… – CT

What is the Tetrad Smokefest???

The Thang!

The burning question in everyone’s mind that had nothing better to think about: What is the Tetrad Smokefest? Well it has nothing to do with the four blood red moons in the news lately, Tetrad really just means 4 so…

This is a 4 station workout, with add ons each round.
1 round = 4 stations.
On the first round, do exercise number 1 on the card and then rotate to next station where you will do exercise 1 on that card, etc.

Moleskin:  Horse Head and Double E ran 5 miles prior to the main event with Boone Dock leading a 2 wheeled escort. Apparently his top speed was attracting the attention of the local authorities. “film at 11”  As you can see in the above breakout, Hair Band’s Tetrad Beatdown was quite the crowd pleaser.  We should have known we were in for a an epic beatdown when the warm-up COP lasted a total of 30 seconds.  Never a good sign when the Q thinks you need to save your strength for the next event.  #WewereSmokedx4

Kotters to Electric Slide and Hardwood who were back it this weekend and to Drop Thrill coming back to Outland for another round of pain.

COT

Moleskin: A little confusion in the directions handed out by YHC during the hill work resulted in half the PAX doing scissor crunches until their partner returned from burpees. Double E and a few others did the extra work on this and the result = solid core work workout on top of the O2 deprivation caused by burpees and hill sprints. During the bear crawls up the ramp DK not only lead the way for these (of course) but he also started back down the stairs, bear style, before the rest of the PAX could reach the top. Once you get DK on all fours it’s hard to slow him down. Z’s Wild Ride and 4 point beatdown is Zip-A-Dee’s very own home grown recipe for inflicting pain and always a crowd pleaser. This Sat was no different as was proven as the mumble chatter went silent after about the second round and the only noise to be heard was shuffling of feat moving station to station and groaning.
I feel like I left a couple of things out from the second half so speak up if you remember anything I should have noted.

Hairband’s Rocking Good Time

8 men gathered for an early morning beatown on the fields of Outland.  With Hairband at the helm for the first half we were NOT disappointed.
6:15 – 6:45 Double EE and Horse Head rocked out to some bad tunes while slinging iron at the KB Beatdown.  Strong work gents.
5 more PAX joined the gang to prep for the launch of the main workout and at 7:00 am sharp TLS rolled into the parking lot to round out the numbers… It’s not Outland if we are not waiting on The Late Show… “LET’S GO!”
Mosey to shovel flag for some COP
Side Straddle Hops x 15
Low slow squats x 15
Imperial Walkers x 15
Mosey to rock pile and pick up a manly coupon, 2 rounds of each set, 20 reps each exercise:
Set 1:
-Curls w/ rock
-Run (with rock for bonus points) to dip bars for… You guessed it, dips.
-Run back to discus circle for squats
-Plank
Somewhere around here our FNG, originally called knob, made the workout an early success by spilling merlot and pulling an Elvis. (http://f3nation.com/lexicon/)
Set 2:
-Tricep extensions w/ rock
-Deep hanging merkins from the dip bars. Didn’t really work as advertised, whatever, suck it up and do what you can. (Still not sure what Horsehead was trying to do.)
-Back to circle for LBC’s
-Plank
Hey, should we check on knob? He has been gone a while.
Set 3:
-With some O2 deprivation kicking in YHC called chest press w/ rock but meant overhead press. Somehow Double E knew what I meant so called me out on it. I re-clarified but everyone still did whatever they started with so maybe they had some O2 dep also.
-Hanging Supine Pull-ups
-Back to circle for Carolina Dry Docks
-Plank
Knob? Hmm, how about a 10 count…
3 more minutes so in honor of our Goruck challenge brothers it was time for tunnel of love 1 time with rock and 1 speed round w/o rock.
Hand off to CT!

Welcome to Mayo.  A Citadel grad who’s F3 name originates from the time honored tradition of providing copious amounts of Mayonnaise and other unsavory delicacies to welcome their incoming scholars “nobs”.

Moleskin:  “Kotters” to Vila, Dream and Stealth and welcome to Glass Joe.  Keep gettin at it gents.  Glass Joe so named due to the fortunate/unfortunate similarity of his real name “Micah Tyson” to his eponym Mike Tyson.  Consider yourself lucky GJ.  We almost landed on Robin but you’re not quite lovely enough to bring the image of Robin Givens to life.

Weinke in hand, The Late Show was on time, on point, on the money this a.m. Q’ing the second half of the workout. Great job!

An extra helping of Mary today should provide a painful reminder that your core is involved in every move you make over the next couple days… enjoy.

Horse Head ran his own pre workout beatdown/rundown with a 3 mile appetizer before the main course launched @ 7.  #F3Strong.  HH is lined up to Q next week.  BRING THE PAIN!!!

DISC O’ INFERNO

Posted on behalf of The Late Show…
8 Men of Action gathered in the early morning gloom, little suspecting that a tasty meal of fried chicken legs, flapjacks, crow, and duck, duck, goose was on the menu.

THA THANG

Horse Head on Q

Warm-up

2 laps around the shovel flag track

20 x SSH

20 x IW

20 x Mountain Climbers

20 x Peter Parker’s

Mosey to Pain Station and pick out a friendly looking rock and a partner.

With 3 cones spaced about 10, 20, and 30 yards from baseline… 1st man does a hairburner to the 10 yard cone and back w/ snow saucer while partner does Russian Twist with his rock.  Then flapjack.

Then 1st man goes to 20 yard cone and back, while his partner does the Russian Twist with his rock. Then flapjack.

1st man to 30, with LBC’s.  Then flapjack.

Switcheroo your partner. Rinse and repeat hair burners with flutter kick and press with your rock.

Switcheroo your partner. Replace burners with inchworm and just hit the 10 and 20 yard marker while your partner tries to breathe and coordinate some kind of ab work with the rock. I think we ended up doing static hip bridge with rock press and mixed in a little pullover action.

Catch your breath and set your pet rock free.

Late Show on Q so we Indian Run to Elementary School

Stop 1/2 way for 30 sec mtn climber, 30 sec right side plank, 30 sec left side plank.

Time was short so we skipped the planned Picnic jumpups and pullup ladder.

Here it is so you know what fun ya missed out on:

(1) pullups then run over to picnic tables and do (10) jump ups, run back to pull ups.

(2) pullups, (9) jump ups

…up to (10) pullups down to (1) jumpup.

Instead, we launched right into a Coach Toxey inspired painfest.  (Coach was YHC’s baseball coach at SVHS)

2 stations just shy of 90 feet apart…

Sprint to 1st, then (12) Carolina dry docks.

Karaoke back to 2nd, then (12) crow pushups – regular merkin  but as you go down you bring your knee around to your elbow, as you go back up, take your foot back. Alternate sides 6 x for a total of (12).

Sprint back to 1st then (12) merkins (not the “American” as YHC was graciously reminded by the PAX).

Karaoke back to 2nd (facing opposite direction) and do (12) Madagascar macaroons or something. Start in plank, down on your elbows and back up = 1 rep.

Take a quick breather

Rinse and repeat, but instead of karaokes, squat down and side shuffle, and drop the reps down to (10)

6 MOM – duck, duck, goose style.  Circle up at station 1 and on your six. 1st man calls out some ab work and sprints to station 2 and back while the PAX grunts it out.

good times with Dollys, Flutter Kicks, Freddy Mercury’s, Back Scratchers, V-tucks, LBC’s, Protractor @10 degrees above horizontal (Thank you Swiss!).

Mosey back to the shovel flag and burpees on your own till the PAX is assembled.

Moleskin:

8 brave men arrived at Outland with determination in their eyes. Believe it or not, YHC aka The Late Show was one of the first to arrive, though true to name, the last to be ready to roll. It does, indeed, take time to load up the cargo pockets.

After the warmup appetizer, the main pain course was quickly served up. Fried chicken legs (btw nice shorts Zip) and flapjacks were on the menu at Horse Head’s Hair Burner Cafe. O2 deprivation for the entire crew was evident, but the PAX powered through with determination.

The volume of mumble chatter picked up as we cruised to the elementary playground. But Dead Silence fell over the PAX as we stopped 1/2 way for the mtn climber & side plank break. Bodily harm to YHC’s wristwatch was suggested as the seconds ticked away and arms and abs felt the burn.

After serving up a playground sampler platter of crow, duck, and goose the PAX was full and ready to run it off as we moseyed back to the flag for announcements and prayer.

Reminder that next Saturday we host a little throw down for mud runners, and thanks CT for praying us up.

On behalf of myself and HH, thank you for the privilege to Q.

Respectfully (and actually on time) submitted,

The Late Show.

Moleskin:  Hairband delivered a first rate beat down this week and all PAX stood strong through the pain. Chicken dance was back after fully recovering from dominating the Spartan Beast a couple week’s ago.  We even considered renaming balls-to-the wall this week in honor of Chicken Dances “unique” form, which looked more like a turkey ready to be stuffed.
Kudos to Horse Head who apparently pushed himself to the point of spilling Merlot  this week during burpees.  “Chunky Burps” as he affectionately named them still count… Did we do burpees?  This was passed on from Hair Band… YHC doesn’t remember the burpees, or the Merlot, probably too gassed to think straight at the time.

Announcement:  Next week (November 30th) Outland will be converging with Area 51 for a post Turkey Day beatdown.  Spread the word for all who weren’t at this week’s workout.

Denied!!!

13 men arrived on the fields of Outland for a little fun i the sun er’ gloom.

Mosey to base of Disc Golf Course and Prison Break to Shovel Flag

COT

Moleskin:  Great work by all this a.m.  Special surprise guest this a.m. when Tiger Rag arrived on the scene.   Instead of offering to comp his mileage and hotel bills, after the long trip down to Outland, we decided to immediately put him to work Q’ing the second half of the workout.    Nuthin like showing up for a little fun and getting handed the reigns.  “Lay on, Macduff, and damned be him who first cries ‘Hold! enough!’”

Double E and Legacy??? had the wheels on this week for sprints at the football field and again at the Prison Break headed for the shovel flag and everyone YHC could see to my left and right obliged TR when he called for extra credit squat jumps and squat jumps w/knee tucks during the field work.  Way to represent.  OUTLANDERS!!!

The strength of 13 men proved no match for the fearless sun dried tomato who was leading  some sort of event at the HS track this a.m. as we were denied entrance even after begging pleading and smiling real pretty.    So instead of the pain TR had in store for us at the grand stands, we all about faced and headed over to the practice field for some self brutalizing.  Maybe we should thank her?

Continue to EH your local Indian Trail brothers as we go into the holidays.  Hair Band is on the Roster next week for inaugural QIC.  We are planning to converge Outland into another local Saturday workout on November 30th.  Details will follow in an upcoming weekly email.

YHC  may have mis-counted our numbers this a.m..  12 was the number Tweeted but looking at the roster I think we had 13.  Was it Legacy I missed?  Shout out and be heard.

SPECIAL NOTE:  Many of you have asked about the status of M Electric Slide “Lisa” over the past few weeks.  We heard form ES this week and he reports that she is doing well “…all of her levels that are centered around the kidney and pancreas functions are outstanding”.  Please continue to keep the family in your prayers.  Also, for anyone who will be around next weekend and is interested in helping out, ES will be hosting a “working party”  to get his house ready for Lisa to come home.  Details below…

Hardwood’s church, Church of the Redeemer has a Mercy Team that is going to be coming to my house to help make some other repairs that have been discovered.  It ranges from replacing some siding pieces that we destroyed by the termites, replacing some windows and repainting the house.  I also believe that another group of guys are going to be rebuilding the steps that come off my side door to make it safe for Lisa.  The day for this project is SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 23.  It is going to be an all day affair, and we will be providing food and drink.  We are trying to get as many guys together as we can to complete this project that day.  There may also be a need for a few guys on FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 22 to do some prep work.  Any help that we could get would be greatly appreciated!!  Please feel free to share this with the group.
