The Rock Zero Holiday Spectacular

The Rock Zero Holiday Spectacular

19 pax gathered for what was billed as the holiday event of the season for Area 51.  Site Qs Geraldo and YHC teamed up for a beatdown to remember to send pax off with plenty of holiday cheer.  With the shovel flag planted, and a disclaimer-ish thing delivered the festivities started at approximately 0701 just in time for O’Tannenbaum to pull into the parking lot.

Pre-Runners:  Purell and Tiger Rag (Mc Rib) claimed 6.5 miles before 0700.  Not sure of the pace but both looked “warmed up” not anything like the rest of us should look after a 6 mile “warm-up”.

The Thang:  Geraldo has procured a number of sandbags that were connected carabiners in three groups.  These were the reindeer to lead the way to the hot box.  Pax teamed up and followed the sandbags as they were shuffled across the parking lot.  The usual chaos ensued as pax switched off sandbags but everyone (and everything) successfully arrived together.  30 seconds of the peoples chair and then AYG to the light post.  Circle up for the COP and mumble-chatter (YHC was NOT wearing skinny jeans, they’re ruck pants *insert the cat meme here*), after COP pax went into the hot box for 8 days of hannukah.  YHC delivered a not so inspiring tale of the 8 nights of hannukah then got to the fun part.

On the first night of hannukah, 1 – burpee
On the second night of hannukah, 2 – jump squats and 1 – burpee
On the third night of hannukah, 3 – merkins, 2 – jump squats and 1 – burpee
This pattern repeats through the remaining nights with the exercises listed below.

4 – step-ups (each leg)
5 – Dips
6 – CCDs
7 – WWII Situps
8 – Mountain climbers (each leg)

Pax ran down the ramp to the last trashcan and back to the hot box between each night of hannukah.  There was much cheer and hardy praises of YHC and his great idea.

After the 8 nights of Hannukah, Geraldo took over with a partner sandbag murph.  Grab a partner, grab a sandbag, and do the following:

P1 runs to a lightpost and back while P2 does exercises.  Flapjack.  100 presses, 200 rows, 300 squats.  Next was some more time in peoples chair with sandbag passes down to the end and air presses while you wait.

Pax then set off on a CMIYC back to the launch point where a partner Mary set for the last 8 minutes.  P1 does Mary while P2 runs down to the end of the parking lot and back.  Kudos to Voodoo for actually doing all of the running sets.

In the end the Site Qs gave some time back to the pax and called it at 0759.

Holiday Moleskine:  Great group to have at Calvary, Flipper was back from marathon training and clown-carred it with Udder from Steele Creek.  Bounce and Gummy kept our mumble chatter going as usual.  Hammer looked like he was training for a fight with Rocky Balboa in his gray champion hoodie.  Ductwork was the silent assassin crushing the workout without much complaining, while Jet Fuel was still in mourning over Alabama’s lack of championship performance this year.  Sprockets was his usual cheerful self but that may be due to the long winter vacation he has planned in the great midwestern states.  Boerwors brought the ever warm reindeer outfit and regretted it after 5 minutes of sweating.  Witch Doctor showed up in his son’s new (to him) pick-up truck that looked like something pulled out of “This Redneck Life” complete with mud and bumper stickers of questionable content.  YHC is pretty sure Lorax showed up to keep us in line with Clavary’s rules of the parking lot.  McGee might just be back for a permanent Saturday rotation, hopefully the M will keep his hall pass current for Saturday mornings.  Anything YHC missed, sound off in the comments below.

Announcements:  Holiday party is next year, sign-ups for BRR are going to happen in 6 months, and there will be a new strength and gear workout at McAlpine Elementary starting on January 6th.

Thanks to Flipper for the take-out.

F3 Waxhaw’s 3rd F goals/strategies for 2020

7 PAX met at Dreamchasers on Thursday night to have beers and get away from wrapping presents brainstorm on what the 3rd F (Faith) means and how F3 Waxhaw should live it out in 2020 and beyond.

BACKGROUND:

  • Deadwood and Bottlecap have stepped up to be the Functional Qs for 3rd F on the F3 Waxhaw Board
  • DW and BC voluntold identified several HIMs (High Impact Man) to participate in a 3rd F Sub-Committee
  • Meeting Goals:
    • Explain what “Faith” means to Banjo
    • Identify priority local charities/ministries that fit into F3 Waxhaw’s DNA
    • Discuss which 3rd F groups should F3 Waxhaw focus to grow
    • Select Site Qs for each area under 3rd F

LOCAL CHARITIES/MINISTRIES/PROJECTS:  The below charities/ministries are what the group identified as our initial priorities.  Are these perfect?  Maybe not.  But let’s put our coordinated efforts behind these few initiatives and see if we can make a difference before we extend ourselves too much.

  • Christ’s Closet
    • Site Qs:  Dana and Shop Dawg
    • What is it?  A local Wesley Chapel charity started by the F3 men of Sanctuary that collects and provides clothes, books, and furniture to the less fortunate
    • How can we partner?  Many local opportunities to provide physical help (ie Folding clothes, sorting) as well as participating at giveaway events.
    • COMING SOON:  A new site coming soon.  Dana and Shop will be leading (Insert Name Here) which will be a sort/fold/fellowship “workout.”  7:30-9:00pm on 2nd and 4th Thursdays of each month at Christ’s Closet.  Details coming soon.
  • Ray of Hope
    • Site Qs:  Dancing Bear and Bottlecap
    • What is it?  Local charity based out of the Sweet Repeats building in Downtown Waxhaw.
    • How can we partner?  Work with Nicole Jordan, founder, on adhoc requests (ie elderly lawn project, single mom needs help installing washing machine) as well as partnering on their bigger projects (ex. Christmas party, Back to school, Food pantry).
  • Waxhaw Service Projects
    • Site Qs:  Deadwood and Carb Load
    • What is it?  F3 Waxhaw adopted area downtown.  Also, explore partnerships with local schools on cleanup/beautification projects.
    • How can we partner?  Quarterly cleanup projects in downtown.  Adhoc projects with the local schools (ie Mulch, Painting, Career Day)
  • Union County Homeless Shelter
    • Site Qs:  Dancing Bear and ?
    • What is it?  Homeless shelter in Downtown Monroe
    • How can we partner?  Be the MEN to treat the homeless as peers, understand their situation, and to help them take their next step.  Figure out small ways to make  big impact in their lives (ex. Shampoo Crew, Job Fair, Weekend workout, etc.)

3RD F GROUPS:  These groups take F3 to the next level for all PAX.  We are not built to do life by ourselves so this is an opportunity to be vulnerable and realize that we are all broken men that need help as Husbands, Fathers, Son, Friends, Brothers, Neighbors, etc.  #IronSharpensIron

  • Open Door
    • Site Q:  Bottlecap and ?
    • What is it?  Sunday morning 0700-0815 Men’s Bible study group that meets at Five Stones office building.
    • Purpose?  Allow men, regardless of where they are at in their Faith journey, to read a chapter of the Bible each week and then discuss how we can apply it to our lives.
  • Sanctuary
    • Site Q:  Ice9 and Ackbar
    • What is it?  Monday evening 7:30-8:30pm Men’s group that meets at Brooklyn Pizza in Wesley Chapel.
    • Purpose?  Read a chapter in a book, usually a Christian-themed book (ie C.S. Lewis), and discuss how it impacts and applies to our lives.
  • Q Source
    • Site Q:  Shop Dawg and ?
    • What is it?  An F3 leadership course curriculum delivered weekly.  Generally held for 30-45 minutes after a workout.
    • Purpose?  Discuss the weekly leadership topic and applicable questions to see how we can apply it to our lives

FUTURE VISION/POSSIBILITIES:

  • Fundraising:
    • “100 Men”:  Another F3 region does an annual event where 100 PAX put up $100 each ($10,000 total) and ask 2-4 charities to present their ideas to be granted all or part of that money.
    • Do we need $?  This is still a very big conversation wondering if we need money, how we get money, and what we would use the money for in our area.
  • Future Events:
    • Monthly/Quarterly “Donation Drives”:  We are planning on putting together a calendar where we are intentional about collecting certain items (ie Laundry Detergent) at certain times (ie first 2 weeks in May) to benefit our “Priority charities”
    • Come to the Table Luncheon:  For those whose attended or heard about the recent lunch that F3 Metro put on, it was incredible.  Something that F3 Waxhaw should strive for.  They were trying to raise $150,000 at ONE EVENT.  Incredible, not because that they got a lot of money but that they are trying to use their resources to make a difference in their community.  Truly putting F3’s mission (“Invigorate male community leadership”) into action.
    • Fixing It For Christ, 2 PAX and a Truck, Sandbox, etc:  What are other projects/ministries that F3 Waxhaw PAX want to pursue?  What are YOU passionate about?  If you lead, others will follow.

WHAT DOES ALL THE ABOVE ACTUALLY MEAN?

  • We have a big OPPORTUNITY:  How many sad clowns need to find their purpose or just something “more than a workout”
  • We have a bigger RESPONSIBILITY:  We have been immensely blessed and it is time to #PayItForward with our Time, Money, and Gifts.
  • RAISE YOUR HAND:  Are you ready to do more within F3?  Reach out to any of the 3rd F sub-committee PAX (or Banjo).  There is no time commitment, just an acknowledgment that you are ready to #Live3rd.  You will be AMAZED how God uses you.
  • NEW GROUPME CHANNEL:  Just what you have been asking for.  This will be a communication platform for PAX who want to help with 3rd F opportunities.  Think about a time when we get a request from Ray of Hope that an elderly lady needs somebody to pick up and move a washer/dryer for her house.  We would send out this request on that channel to get a volunteer.

May God bless you and your family this Christmas season and prosper each of us in 2020 in order to better serve our communities.

CHOO CHOO!

It’s Raining (4) Men

All the weather pundits agreed on one thing for this morning, 42 degrees and 100% chance of rain all morning.

Five things were promised ahead of this morning’s Asylum workout.

  1. Cover would not be used
  2. It would be raining
  3. Heavy things would be lifted
  4. Running would actually happen at a workout
  5. Waffles would not be on the menu

4 men decided that it’s better to act stupid in the rain than sleep in bed and feel guilty about not posting all day.

DiCCS were given (Disclaimer, Cell phone, CPR, Safety)

Mosey to the back lot of Target near the gate to Wesley Oaks.

Warm-up:

  • Side Straddle Hop x 20 IC
  • Imperial Walkers x 15 IC

The Thang:

I pre-parked my vehicle back there and it was loaded with 15 cinder block coupons.  I guess I was optimistic.  Time for some “cindercides”

  • Start with 5 man-maker burpees with broad jumps over the coupon between burpees
  • Run to the end of the parking lot and back.
  • Grab your coupon and run to the next island for 5 more man-maker burpees with broad jumps over the coupon

  • Continue until all 6 islands have been visited with exercises also performed at both ends
  • 40 total man-makers with broad jumps over the coupon

More cindercides back the other way

  • 10 cinderswings at the start
  • Run to the end of the parking lot and back.
  • Grab your coupon and run to the next island for 10 more cinderswings
  • Run to the end of the parking lot and back
  • Grab your coupon and run to the next island
  • Continue until all 6 islands have been visited with exercises also performed at both ends
  • 80 total cinderswings

More cindercides back the other way

  • 15 cinder curls at the start
  • Run to the end of the parking lot and back.
  • Grab your coupon and run to the next island for 15 more cinder curls
  • Run to the end of the parking lot and back
  • Grab your coupon and run to the next island
  • Continue until all 6 islands have been visited with exercises also performed at both ends
  • 120 total cinder curls

At this point time was running short and we had to make it back to my vehicle to return the coupons

  • Run to first light pole with coupon, 10 overhead presses w/ coupon
  • Run to second light pole with coupon, 10 overhead presses w/ coupon
  • Run to third light pole with coupon, 10 overhead presses w/ coupon
  • Run to my vehicle with coupon, 10 overhead presses w/ coupon
  • 40 total coupon overhead pressed

Mosey back to COT, 3+ miles of cindercides completed

Done!

MOLESKIN:

Well the experts got it right today.  Not only did it rain this morning, it poured.  The entire time.  It’s still pouring outside.

Props to Dana and Damascus for posting today knowing we would not seek cover.  Shop Dawg would have posted either way but he didn’t even know who was on Q when he got there so props to him for not caring one way or the other.  On a site note has anyone else noticed there are six (6), yes six different variations of Shop Dawg on WordPress.  Hopefully I picked the correct one.

After about 5 minutes it doesn’t matter that you’re cold and soaking wet anymore, it’s just the first 5 minutes that sucks.  Can you make it past the 5 minute mark?  This also applies for when it’s 22 degrees outside.

The third bullet point of F3 from the main F3 page is “Our workouts …Are held outdoors, rain or shine, heat or cold” and I think that’s why is even more important on days like this to have the workout outside, in the elements because that’s how life works.  Sometimes life is 55 degrees with clear skies and seems too easy.  Sometimes life is 42 degrees with driving rain in your face and the last thing you want to do is get out of bed and face it.  Maybe if you can sling around a soaking wet cinderblock in driving rain for an hour while freezing then just maybe you can face that next challenge in your marriage, with your family, or in the workplace just a little easier.  Maybe?  – “How you do anything is how you do everything”.

Hopefully today was a good mix of strength, speed, and endurance.  It can happen, rain or shine, hot or cold.

Everyone did a great job of staying on task today, putting their head down (somewhat due to the driving rain), and getting in the work.  Well done!

Thank you for the opportunity to lead today.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

  • Christmas Eve. Bushwood is converging tomorrow at Watchtower at 6:30am.  BE THERE.  Holiday apparel is encouraged.
  • F3 is closed on Christmas Day, enjoy the time with family and friends. Maybe reach out to a PAX we haven’t seen in a while and invite him back this week.
  • Christ Closet even on January 11th at 8:00pm to “fold everything”! Location TBD but probably at Five Stones or Union Methodist.

Thank you F3 SOB/Area 51 – Time to take on the next chapter

16 pax assembled for a Cheddar farewell Q, and got all he could throw at them. First Ill let you know what happened quick and then a thank you note

Thang

COP – Windmill, Cotton Pickers and Mountain Climber

We ran to the murderhorn and that was always the plan. Bunch of burpees and merkins on the way.

At the Murderhorn – partnering up, partners ran opposite directions up and down the murderhorn and met 6 times . When they met they did (10 burpees, 10 jump squats, 10 LBCs).

Then went to the loop at the top of the murderhorn for 10 handslap merkins to be done when they meet (met 6 times ).

We had to get some Indian run back with a farewell from another species of Indians. I have to say this was one of the best Indian runs we managed to stay together, except Transporter kept sprinting ahead and we could only slow him with others in front of him.

We did some sprint in the end for recovery. Transporter and Fletch were competing hard and I think Transporter had the last of the 3 sprints with Fletch getting the first 2.

I truly enjoyed this one. All pushed hard

Thank you Fellas

A lot of thoughts run through my head about the first time I started F3 in Charlotte on 6/2014. I had a supportive group looking to push me at bootcamps. I started with running and gradually went into bootcamps. Still remember the first time I posted at SOB land it was the Brave with Madame Tussaud on Q. Still remember he went easy on me, I was out of breath during that whole post.

We all deal with so many struggles at various stages at varying degrees. Posting in the morning with you guys have managed to keep me sane and keep my stresses at bay. Starting my weekends well with Stonehenge/Da Vinci surely helped. Many pax have come forward to keep me welcome, give me encouragement when im down and a nudge to push harder when I dont see I can take another gear. I have tried to give back but surely cannot repay all they have given to me. F3 made me strong, resilient to push boundaries – e.g. complete a PhD while working full time and even taking care of a new-born all at the same time! I would have not been able to do all this without firstly a backing M and my F3 family. I have enjoyed the CSAUP and the relays, if you get a chance to do the relays (BRR, SMR or Palmetto ) you need to do it. I would love to name a bunch but there are so many that I cant forgive myself for not mentioning a few.

I appreciate the farewell at Duckworth, all that love was just too special !! And then I had an opportunity to Q this workout.

I look forward to the next chapter. I will always have you in my heart and pray for you all F3 brothers while you continue to change all mens’ lives and their families.

Hugs and Love ,

Cheddar

F3 Workout in NJ – Poor Counting & Highly Taxing – Yes!

9 Pax battled the cold and made it out to The Rising for YHC’s 1st guest Q back in NJ.  It was a great group of guys and sure stop on next trip back.  As I was trying to complete my early morning meditation routine fluffing of my weinke I was startled  awakened by  Pharmer’s tunes coming from the car next to me.  We both decided to leave the comfort of the 21* temps of the car to wait for the rest of the Pax to arrive in the 18* weather waiting for us outside.  Soon after Dos Equis came into the lot and bursting out of the car looking as if he just had his third cup of coffee (cawfee), ran 3 miles, and pissing excellence.  We planted the flag and proceeded to the corner of the parking lot as we wait for the other pax to join.  As we got closer to the 6:30 start a few more pax began to pull into lot and join the crew.  With this YHC decided it was the opportune time to whip out DCCS and give an overview to the pax.

  • Disclaimer – Proper F3 disclaimer
  • Cell Phone –  Ensure at least 1 pax has a cell phone
  • CPR – Check to see who has packed their chapstick (Dos Equis & Risky Business) and is willing to save man’s life if needed
  • Safety – Be sure to keep an eye out for ice, cars and be safe this morning

6:34 and we have few more Pax rolling in, so we wait and we run through one more time and we take off  on opening mosey.

Warmup:

  • Quick mosey around parking lot island
  • Circle up for SSH
  • Jimmy Dugans (taken from League Of Their Own – avoid the clap)
  • Mt Climbers
  • Merkins

Thang:

Partner 7’s

  • P1 runs in one direction around parking island, P2 runs in other direction
  • Meet and do 6 handslap burpees and run back in other direction
  • Meet again and do 1 handslap merkin
  • Repeat with reducing # of burpees by 1 and increasing merkins by 1 each round until you end at 1 burpee and 6 handslap merkins

At completion everyone gets on their 6 and we do some mary before proceeding to next step.

Burpee Indian Run

Direction given to get in line and Burpee Indian Run up to the playground.  Last pax drops and does burpee and runs to front of line.  When passing the last pax in line  he drops and does burpee and runs to front.

Playground Fun

Partner up with new pax at the playground and go to stations:

Round 1

  • Pull ups
  • Step Ups
  • Supines
  • Timer (Run lap around playground)

Round 2:

  • Dips
  • Squats
  • Merkins on Swing
  • Timer (Run lap around playground)

This is always good spot to use and especially when you do not set off the alarms for downtown Waxhaw and have the “Fuzz” begin to question what are a bunch of sweaty old guys doing playing on a swingset in the morning.

Mosey Over to far parking lot by Pool

4 corners

Explain the 4 corners we will go through where on each time out do 5x called exercise and then mosey back to start and increase to next corner until you complete the entire square

Moleskin

  • Scar – Thanks for coming out and always good to MASH (modified workout while on IR) and be with group.  Good Job!
  • Farmer w/ PH (Pharmer) – Thanks for the water (wader) this morning and not going to lie, had a flash of you as Clark Griswald when you had the face mask on.  Good push throughout the morning
  • Brisket – Appreciate you being my partner on the 7’s, still think there was some fuzzy math among the others as all appeared to finish before our last round.  Must have been due to cold and others wearing mittens and not being able to count to 7 with out using their fingers
  • Churchill (R) – Great work and respect the shorts.  You sure made another pax from NJ (Recalc) proud by sporting those in this climate.  Look forward to having you come migrate down to Waxhaw soon.
  • Red Stripe – Good work on the burpee run, and probably one of the better names based on last name Kingston.  Enjoyed working with you today
  • Mounty –  This must feel like summer for a Canadian like you.  Glad you made it before we took off, you hoser!
  • Risky Business – Good to run with you and for the chatter this morning.  Looks to be a good group here and I am sure you will continue to bring some of the Southern Hospitality north.  Telling you can make millions if you combine pimento cheese and pork roll on sandwich.
  • Dos Equis (RR) – Sir, thank you for allowing me to lead this morning and you have an awesome AO.  Look forward to where you expand the region and other opportunities to workout with the pax.  Also very appreciative of the book.

One of the biggest lessons I learned today was don’t take F3 for granted.  As where we are in CLT we have 14 AO’s to choose from within a 5-10 mile radius throughout the week.  Guys up here were driving 30+ minutes to attend a workout and the next closest AO is 45 miles away.  The group is something special and the 1st F is only one component of it.  Make sure to continue to expand and find ways to incorporate the 2nd and 3rd F’s among the group.  My message to you guys is like it was said on one of the F3 podcast.  Go out there in the morning and have fun, act like a child and be an idiot.  Find ways to bust chops and banter with each other when you can.  This will continue to form bonds among the guys and make the shield lock that much stronger.

Chiseled- Coupons for Everyone

It has been a while since I had been to Chiseled let alone lead Chiseled.  None of the Diesel site Qs could make it. (Shaking my head) Who knows,  was it fear, laziness or the dread Fartsack Syndrome. One day that phrase will be in Urban Dictionary.

14 super solid dudes did join on a chilly morning with little to no complaints.  I was extremely impressed by everyone and how hard they all pushed. Absolutely amazing group of guys.

Disclaimers given with mosey around Mt.Chiseled and back to the start.

15 SSH (kept it short for Big 10), 10 IW, 10 JD, stretching from plank position, a little extra back stretching (compliments of my M’s instruction).

MOLESKINE

Everyone pushed hard and did their best to stay warm.  It would be call out anyone because absolutely everyone did the entire workout and pushed hard.    I was impressed with the limited chatter and just everyone’s accepting the challenge of a tough workout.   I truly appreciate everyone’s push.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Special Guest for Floater ( MoneyBall)

FNG – Schneider’s son. Posse got lost out there really wanting to name him after a rock. Posse’s name was almost changed to Nerd. But we moved on and went with Joe Dirt.

7 men were at Cerberus.  4 of them combined for 200+ years of life experience.  All were strong.

26 degrees so mosey warm up to the deck for COP.  Standard SSH, Squats, Merkins, etc.  Some trips up the deck with Merkins, Jump Squats, RDL’s and Burpees.  Pausing for the six with some Peoples Chair.

6 MOM to get those washboard abs.  Still some time and not wanting to cool off we hit 3 stair cases with 5 burpees at the top of each staircase.

Moleskine:

This wordpress gets harder to use each and everytime.  None the less, we had a good group out this morning with good 2nd F chatter and solid efforts by all.  Shop and I finished up the Q Source for the year, but there is a chance to start it all again with us.  We are going to restart and re-discuss all of the topics kicking off Jan 3rd.  Please join us.

Astro with the take out (I think??)

The Gift of Exercise

Twas the night before Diesel…and YHC was wrapping presents and preparing to inject a little holiday spirit into what would be an icy cold morning.

Warm Up:

  • Arm Circles – 10 little forward and back; 10 big forward and back
  • Potato Pickers – 10 IC

Enough of that, there’s PRESENTS!

The Thang:

YHC promised presents and presents were had. Out comes Santa’s bag of goodies with presents for PAX young and old. Each PAX takes a turn reaching into the gift bag and pulling out a wrapped present. Then everyone “shares” their gift:

  • 20x Merkins
  • 20x Squats
  • 15x Coupon Swings
  • 20x Shoulder Presses
  • 15x Goblet Squats
  • 20x Curls
  • 30x Bent Over Rows
  • 40x LBCs
  • 10x Lunges (each leg)
  • 20x Squat Thrusters
  • 15x Tricep Extensions
  • 25x Mountain Climbers

Now we’re REALLY warmed up so it’s time for some Christmas stations. The timer for these stations was the aptly named “One Horse Open Slay” #notfusedit but the battle rope was nowhere to be found. Audible!

  • Load the Sleigh (timer)- Farmer’s Carry around the two islands w/ 2 50lb weights
  • Last Minute Holiday Shopper – 35lb plates (held at arm’s length in front of you like a steering wheel)
  • Carol of the Bell Ringers – Kettle bell swings
  • Toy Makers – Man Makers with dumbbells
  • Boxing Day (hey, it’s close to Christmas) – Alternate hands punching with dumbbells
  • Rise and Shine, it’s Christmas Morning – Big Boi Sit Ups with Slam Balls
  • Chop some wood for the fire – Sledge hammer the tire

2 rounds of the above. YHC had also created a few more holiday exercises but somehow completely forgot about them:

  • Santa’s Bowl Full of Jelly – V Ups
  • Snow Angels – Plank Jacks
  • Ice Skaters – Speed Skaters

With around 10 minutes left it was time for a holiday faux pas: Regifting!

YHC bundled up all the gifts previously given and dropped them back into Santa’s gift bag for redistribution of the wealth. We managed to make it through Merkins, Goblet Squats, Mountain Climbers, Shoulder Presses, and Bent Over Rows before 0615.

Moleskin:

This one was fun to think up and though it took a bit of work to wrap all the “presents” it was worth it. Check out GroupMe as Spike managed to get some good pictures of the gift exchange. We’ve had one other “themed” workout with Foundation giving us his Wrestlemania workout a few months back. They’re a ton of fun and I think everyone enjoyed the break for the usual.

The 50 lb weight is no joke for a Farmer’s Carry and we worked with two of them today. I heard some good encouragement going on today. Sometimes a brother needs some of that and you don’t even know it. We’ve got some good leaders that do it regularly, but if you haven’t found yourself fist bumping a fellow PAX or giving them an attaboy every once in a while, I’d encourage you to try it out. It could make the difference between someone finishing an exercise or not. Giving it everything or ratcheting it down towards the end. Posting once a week or stepping it up to multiple posts. Showing up or fartsacking.

Leave no man behind, but leave no man where you find him.

YHC took us out. Merry Christmas everybody

Recover

23 total for a waffley good time in the 26 degree gloom. I’ve had to bag on the past Q’s I’ve been scheduled for due to travel -so a big shout out to the Site Q’s for pulling in subsiq’s at the last moment. As always the goals of Impromptu are simple: 1) Rain or Shine we roll 2) We’re always at Cuthbertson – no last minute changes 3) We aim for +1 more Pax to show over Diesel’s numbers and 4) We strive to go further than .24 miles. So today we hit our goals!!!

DCCS and then a quick mosey… had to wait for the #7 train from PDS/Crooklyn which was running a bit late – out jumped a mix between the Beastie Boys and Curtis Sliwa/ NYC Guardian Angels

Warm up – with 26 degree temps it took the Q a bit to warm up to “exercise is xxx begin ….halt…..recover”

SSH, Merkins, LLS, Mtn Climber, Plank Jack, BH’s and introduced the Burpee 180 or Burpee with a Twist

The Thang – Sequenced exercises in pairs with 10, 15, and 20 reps

Mosey to alcove #1 – Donkey Kicks and Big Boy Sit Ups. Goes like this: Do 10 DK’s then 10 BBSU.. 15 DK’s and 15BBSU…and finish with 20 DK’s and 20 BBSU’s. This would be the pattern for every stop we made around the lovely Cutherbertson Campus (#1 site in Union County)

Mosey to middle school cafe Benches: Step ups and SSH’s – again 10, 15, 20

Basketball slide to Transporters/Rudy’s Shed: Bobby Hurleys/Speed Skaters (2 is 1) 10/15/20

Mosey to circle by HS (on the way had a chat with Zin about the garbage truck that passed us – it’s called the Garbage Connection. Seems like an interesting concept: Would they try to pair Zin’s old pirate costume with Boytano’s old skates (Pirates of the Caribbean on ice? Maybe DoughBoy’s stink ass gloves with Rudy’s shorts that didn’t make it (hillbilly air freshener?)

Mosey to HS Cafe Benches: Dips and Derkins -10/15/20 with a wrinkle – bear crawl around the triangle island between sets.

Mosey to HS Alcove – Mike Tyson’s and LBS: 10/15/20 – this was a gotcha

Mosey to Front of MS: Burpe with a Twist (Burpee 180’s and plank jack) 10/15 time permitting.
