A dozen meatheads gathered in the gloom this morning, giddy with excitement over the cooler temps, the prospect of using a lighter bell, or both. We did make good use of both, getting in plenty of work and 0.0 running.

Lots of energy and mumblechatter this morning, which makes the workout seem less like work (except for the heavy pieces of iron lying about). The mumblechatter continued loudly through COP, such that YHC isn’t quite sure of the counts, but no matter, we warmed up sufficiently anyway. Thanks, Bananas, for joining our merry bunch in COP to complete our circle and give us an even dozen.
The mumblechatter came to an abrupt end after COP and the first set of TGU/pullups when YHC called for the Snatch/Merkin superset and to repeat it 5 times. It was a unanimous #unsavory #crowdpleaser. There was an audible thrown in to decrease the reps for rounds 4 & 5, so that we could maintain good form and there were no noted objections.
(The plan called for 5 rounds for all the supersets; however, YHC began audibling down, based on time running short and collective need. Call out if what we completed is misrepresented, as I lost track and want to give us credit for the hard work we put in.)
The bottoms-up presses were a new move at Meathead, and all agreed with their potential for building grip strength, provided you didn’t smash in your face in the process. Our lighter bells were not light enough, in some cases. Let’s expect to see that one again, as we work to increase the grip strength of our non-dominant hand. Note: many theories were floated as to the reason for difference in strength between dominant and non-dominant hands, but none were conclusive.
General consensus: Turkish getups suck. They’re hard, awkward, and we don’t like them. But, like castor oil, it is said they’re good for you, so we pressed on.
The rest of the workout was the meat potatoes we all love: lawnmower rows, goblet squats, 1-hand swings, & cleans. Not many complaints by this point, other than we were all pretty beat down by then. Except, there were occasional malodorous emissions, which prompted the discussion: is it the diet or the exercise? A proposal was made for a mandatory pre-Meathead meal to control the source – more details forthcoming. Additionally, consideration will be given to swapping out compression shorts for Depends, just in case. #shart
Thanks to Busch for taking YHC seriously and bringing “all your bells”. After double farmer carries to and from the playground, Busch’s four bells provided considerable variety for him, Bulldog, Brown, and the rest of S CLT. Aye!
In addition to the Meathead shirt mentioned above, Brown announced a forthcoming full line of Meathead branded products, such as: cropped undershirts from his HS football days, zumba/parachute pants, logo’ed Depends, fanny packs, and more. Launch date: TBD, as designs and angel investors are still being sought.
Thanks, as always, for the opportunity to lead. It’s an honor, and a lot of fun.
Thanks, Busch, for the closing prayer.
Aye.
17 of South Charlotte’s finest ignored of the call of the fartsack and gathered in the gloom for some brick work.

Ladder of burpees and push presses – 1-5 burpees and 5-25 push presses
Mosey to baseball field for 9 “innings” – half group runs a lap around outfield and half perform called exercise
Mosey to playground for another ladder – 1-5 pull ups and 5-25 push presses
Mosey to field for final ladder – 5-10-15-10-5 man maker merkins with sprint down and back in between
COP – 3MOM with low dolly, Rosalita, and something else (I think)
Naked Moleskin
Someone got it right when they noted how heavy those little pavers can be after a few push presses. Q was disappointed no one else (Joker particularly) grabbed the other “special” F3 brick. Joker was Larry Bird all morning so I’ll make sure he gets a special brick next time.
Good push by the entire PAX as running with 2 bricks is harder than you might think by just looking at those innocent looking things in the trunk.

Despite the rain, turnout was excellent and every brother pushed it hard today in an attempt to soak up as much water as we could from the Calvary campus. My weinke called for more hand release merkins in COP but I decided to change it up a bit due to the groans after the first 10…don’t worry, we still got plenty wet out there and the rain even let up for COT.
The Beast never fails to deliver – especially on a brisk rainy morning.
Thanks to all for braving the soggy weather and doing some exercises with YHC this morning. It’s always a pleasure to lead the Anvil PAX.
Welcome FNG Suarez (Rich R.).
Thanks to Mr. Brady for taking us out!

It was YHC’s 28th birthday a week ago and what a better way to party than with the pax. YHC also learned all of these types of burpees from a youtube video while sadclowning in a hotel in Montana. Combine the two and you get 28 reps of lots of different burpees.
Madame tweeted about the pre-KB work last night but it none of the pax(including Madame) made it out by 5 because of the rain. YHC is grateful that everyone showed up for the main event at 5:30.
There have been times in the past during one of YHC’s Qs that the pax have expressed their displeasure with the planned workout. Today, Mic Check, Haggis, and Madame were particularly vociferous. Burpee form(for burpees they just learned) and counts were called into question. However, some pax we just happy that the Q was only turning 28. We somehow avoided a Qtiny.
To the pax delight, the clock turned to 6:07 just after the 7th round of burpees. We had to mosey back to launch earlier than expected. Make sure you do your homework!
It’s always an honor to lead such a great group of men. I look forward to my next opportunity to grow stronger with them in the gloom.

18 PAX gathered for another Tuesday rendition of the Skunk. Based on the weekly email some were expecting Harley to Q. Stone Cold had a bit of a stunned look when YHC called out the 1 minute warning and Harley was not there. I’m not sure if the look was a compliment or not, either way time to start the show. See Harley for your money back if you didn’t get enough work today.

Mumble chatter started early with Brown and Bulldog side by side slowing things down with too many questions. Once we got to the meat of the workout the only thing I heard from Brown was that he made a bad choice on the KB this morning. For Stone Cold, Brown and anyone else swinging a 45/50lb+ bell this was terrible. Good work out there.
Sussido, Sanka, and Header were smoking it this morning. Sanka might want to get independent confirmation of KB weight as there were calls that he was swinging styrofoam. Maybe it was the calf sleeves giving him that extra compression and energy for the KB work?
I think everyone made it a least through the round of 16 and the leaders were working their way through the round of 24 when time was thankfully called. Hairband said he wasn’t sure which part of the workout was the recovery – the lifts or the runs. The answer: There wasn’t any recovery. I think everyone got as much as they could handle.
#Kotter’s to Hairband at Skunkworks. You’ve been busy promoting U-Co but there is still no Skunk comparison down there. Also good to see Night Court back out and in the mix and with a KB #LeaveTheDumbBellAtHome.
Thanks to Header for the send off.
