I know you were all scared last week when I mentioned a leg day. So I thought, let’s do this again it’s never as scary the second time out right?
Squat and Deadlift Form 101: How to avoid your orthopedic surgeon
Lesson 1: How to squat and actually use your legs (not your knees)
Lesson 2: How to deadlift and not need a chiropractor afterward
Calvary, 7:00 by Muscle Beach. If you have kettlebells bring ’em.
Pre-Run – Murderhorn Mosey
I promised a pre-run of Murderhorn repeats starting at 0500. I started alone, but upon my fourth ascension, Nard Dog appeared out of the mist to finish the climb and join me for a lap about Regal Cinemas. He took a second lap as a greeted the Pax and reset my phone.
Slipper-gate
As the crowd grew, Strawberry exited Heartbreaker’s car, but Heartbreaker peels off. Does he have to find a bathroom? No, he’s still wearing his slippers. After the disclaimer and on the way to COP, I told Frehley the story, but I’m not sure he believed me.
COP – All the Jacks
We trekked from Regal Cinema to the far side of Target for COP. One of the easiest, yet most maligned exercises in the side straddle hop. Rumors persist this exercise is dangerous. I’m not buying it.
– Side straddle hops x 10
– Seal jacks x 10
– Plank jacks x 10
– Smurf jack x 10
– Crab jacks x 10
That’s all the jacks. If I missed one, sound off in the comments.
Route 66
By now, you’ve visited the six speed bumps behind the Stoncrest Strip Mall. Do 1 burpee at the first speed bump, 2 at the second adding one additional at the subsequent bumps. After the burpees on sixth bump, about face and continue back to start for a total of 66 burpees. Heartbreaker conveniently arrives post-burpees with shoes, not slippers.
From the back of Target, we slogged all the way back to the western wall of Regal Cinema.
AMRAP minutes
– Curb taps (from the plank position tap the curb with alternating hands) [shoulders, chest]
– Toe taps (on your six, tap the curb with your foot – resembles flutter) [legs]
– Glute march (feet on curb, shoulders down, hips up one foot in the air; alternate feet) [booty]
– Baby cobra (on your belly , raise your shoulders) [back]
Wall Work
People’s chair x 20 arm raises
Head slappers x 20
People’s chair x 20 arm raises
Hip slappers x 20
People’s chair x 20 arm raises
Cliff climbers (hands on ground, feet on wall, resembles mountain climbers)
Hill Sprint Ladder

* 10 merkins

* 10 merkins, 20 squats

Thanks to the steady veteran crew today. We worked hard, stayed together and didn’t cheat to finish first (pet peeve). I always try to have a little fun, crab jacks had Frehley laughing and a new exercise – cliff climbers.

Great work this morning with a good mix of Peak veterans and younger blood. YHC tries to offer something a little off the beaten path, and hopes the bricks delivered. I’ll get more before I roll this out again, so we can double up for those wanting more weight.
Apparently some guys haven’t played ball before, because one pair was rotating clockwise, instead of counter-clockwise like it’s usually played: 1st to 2nd to 3rd to home. Or maybe they were just exercising the “modify” option.
T-claps to Tweetsie for the solid takeout.
And thanks to the group for giving me the opportunity to lead.
For tomorrow’s Devil’s Turn, there are no planned early starts. We will all meet at 5:15 am at the corner of Rea Rd. and Bevington Place.
We will then proceed to The Village to run until it is time to run the 0.7 miles back to the start by 6:15. The Village is running west on Bevington Place until it meets Baybrook Ln. Turn left on Baybrook Ln out to 51. Right on 51 and next right onto Carswell Ln. Carswell Ln dead ends back into Bevington Place. A right on Bevington Place starts the fun all over again.
That’s pretty much it. There may or may not be chalk on the course. You’ve been warned.

Started things off with a little warm up:
Side-straddle-hop
Imperial walkers
Merkins
Headed down to the main parking lot for the main event.
Groups of three rotated through two stations. Partner one at station one, partner two at station two, and partner three running between stations as the timer. Once a partner three got to station two, partner two took off running to station one and partner three stayed at station two to do the exercise. Continued rotating through stations for the remainder of the time.
Each station had a list of five exercises to work doing one exercise each stop at each station. Once the list was completed then rinse and repeat.
Station 1:
1. Snatch
2. Clean and press
3. Two-handed swing
4. Alternating swing
5. Two-handed curls
Station 2:
1. Squats
2. Lunges
3. Good mornings
4. Lunges with a pass through
5. Squat and press
Mosey back to lot
Moleskin:
It didn’t take long for gents to start losing layers. Except for Cotton mouth who showed up in khakis and a turtle neck. I found out later he had bible study immediately following and he didn’t have time to go home and change. Things started off swell but after completing a rotation the questions of “are we done yet” started flying! For some reason the Pax were fine with doing the rotation of exercises once. But there was time so we pushed through . . . . most of us. By the end Lex was on his back “doing” LBCs but we all knew his was just slacking and getting a good back scratch in. All in all, we got a good sweat in on a muggy Tuesday morning.

10 pax assembled for their weekly stretching of their stretchy/non-stretchy parts, in hopes of reversing a little of the knotting, tightening, and all-around jacking up that we do to ourselves at our other weekly workouts. Speaking of, at least three of those among us got in a little pre-tightening in the form of a pre-run (1) or a pre-mumblechatter pre-KB (2). Once our LIFO site FNG found us, indoors (Welcome!), we were ready to begin.

Giving Swiss Miss the day off, and the pax some variety, YHC Q’ed only his second time at Gumby. There was a huge expectation to live up to, musically speaking, following last time’s movie themes, so YHC leaned upon a Slacker station seeded with Hans Zimmer. With a little help from the skip controls on the watch, it provided satisfactory accompaniment, ending solidly with the Imperial March.
YHC is much better at following than leading a broga workout, but it seemed most were resourceful enough to make out what we were trying to accomplish/stretch. Or, they simply worked on their balance poses. That works too.
As mentioned in COT, please reach out to Swiss Miss or YHC to Q one week. We’ve found some online resources that may help, and we each have a book that you may borrow that is filled with sequences and targeted areas. 85% of today’s routine was crafted directly from that book, including the more complex Moon Salutations (#learnings). As Q, you may also choose to add-in or focus more on balance or strength poses, whereas we’ve primarily focused on flexibility poses till now. All will be beneficial. Plus, you set the playlist (#Zamfir).
Whether running, stretching, or swinging KBs, it’s always an honor, guys. Thanks for coming out today!
Aye.
A little HB mile to get us warmed up.

Great effort out there today gents for what YHC thought was a great workout. Kudos to Mermaid for dropping a similar bomb on us last week at Anvil and giving me the last minute idea for today. She’s a keeper
In typical Gloss form, he pulls in with 3 min to spare walks by my car and mouths the infamous, “I gotta s#it”. We need to make a tshirt #pronto
Speaking of tshirts, come to find out Dumpster Fire has memorized what would seem to be each and every No Fear t shirt slogan. No doubt trying to pump himself up through the last loop with #2ndplaceisthefirstloser talk.
The whole No Fear talk triggered some, and I’m sure not so shocking to many of you, memories of my youth with the Big Johnson tshirts. Of course as I’m reciting the slogan of the infamous Big Johnson Bar & Casino, I look to my left and it’s none other than Header. #Doh!
Header, Chin Music, Smokey and Dolly were all out front today #shocker. Plan was to call them out on their #crotchtoupee form to slow them down but I couldn’t keep up. #theybfast
Dolphin pushed through with a bad shoulder for some not so friendly shoulder exercises. Nice work brother. Hope you get some good news this afternoon. Thank you for taking us out in prayer
Draino, Jet Fuel and Geraldo kept their heads down and powered through. Good work gents. Well I take that back. Geraldo, #YouOnlyHadOneJob
Pretty sure Deep Dish sat in his bed this AM staring at his iPhone just waiting for the temp to change from 36* to 35*. No luck compadre!
Welcome Private Benjamin to his 2nd workout. It was made clear following the workout that Private Benjamin was just not appropriate because he claimed that was his favorite movie and that is all the pax could think of……..this is getting quite offensive. I move to rename, and in keeping with the Private Benjamin theme, I’ve come up with Private Wanda, Slick Guy, Mr Waxman or Final Thrust. Obviously I’m leaning towards the last one. Ideas welcome.
Big props to Smokey for being the most unselfish of the pax this morning to carry the load as Operation Sweet Tooth Toy and Supply Q for Death Valley. Dollywood oh Dollywood. #shameful
It’s an honor to lead and I always appreciate the opportunity #GlossIsProudOfMe
