Something for Everyone

A Solid Pax of 21 gathered in the lot totting Bells of various shapes and sizes. When the clock struck 5:30 they were disclaimed and got down to business. Circle up in Parking Lot for Warm Up. Tight circle for COP was an attempt to avoid further damage to the soggy grounds and to keep the PAX Dry. The later was foiled when the sky opened up during the Chest Press.

It was a reasonably warm morning with a minute chance of rain, seemed a perfect day for doubles with some wooden bench work mixed in. Lucky for our LIFO HighTide, our warmup began right in the parking lot as he rolled in somewhere between SSH and Merkins. Plan today was to get warmed up properly – thanks to swings, cleans and snatches then roll right into double bell work. Nothing makes your current bell feel lighter than working out with two bells. Had to audible several times along the way this morning, so thanks for sticking with me. The P1 run was too long for P2 to be doing doubles, so we shortened that and reduced the rounds from 3 to 2 in order to get through the majority of the weinke. The sky opened up just in time for the double chest press – nothing like getting a face full of water while pressing kettlebells precariously above your face. At one point, someone asked if anyone had ever drown while participating in F3. Jury is out on that, but the rain did not stop the pax from wielding some heavy metal. In light of the slippery conditions, we opted for step ups in place of jump ups on the wooden benches. Maybe next time. Glad to have Hairband back from IR. Shout out to Drop Thrill and Freedom who were both getting after it this morning and for Squid for consistently posting just weeks after his first post.
Hope everyone enjoyed themselves out there this morning and thanks again for the opportunity to Q Skunkworks (the site that has something for everyone).

Good Q today, Fletch. Those double front squats are gonna leave me walking funny tomorrow, I can already tell. Good stuff.

Felt great to be back out swinging some metal with everyone. Great Q and it was easily modifiable which was great for me getting back at it.

Great Q Fletch, that one was a doozy!

Now how about “Clippy” renaming himself? Here are my thoughts on some nicknames a la Justin Timberlake since he shares the same last name:

“Bee Gees” – based on SNL skit of Justin Timberlake playing Robin Gibbs

“Black Snake Moan” – based on movie Justin Timberlake starred in

“Hashtag” – based on Jimmy Fallon skit Justin Timberlake starred in

*and these are the nice ones…

Do we have a Boo Boo? JT voiced Boo Boo in Yogi Bear

I’d say “Honey Boo Boo” but he may never come back!

Yeah, let’s not go that far. I’ve heard a few that are just not cool, one in particular in Metro that I thought was kind of mean.

Thinking back, I’m comforted to know that Horsehead & Tiger Rag’s leg hold/plank combo didn’t make the backblast. #closetalkers

While not a fan of names that aren’t family friendly, I do think that an attempted self-rename warrants something special. Needs to be awkward

Suggestions:

1) Your Mom (think of name-o-rama, partner exercises, etc . . . )
2) Squash Tart (we had this one for Jaws, but punted last sec)
3) Wabbit (this is open, technically, right?)
4) Poot (poots are funny)
5) Junkinabox (Timberlake)
6) HoneyBooBoo is also solid, as suggested above

Great job Fletch. You’ve crushed it lately at KB sites. meatheads forever. As for the rename, my god, only Horsehead would suggest Poot, which I love. One of the best words in the English language. Not used enough. There is a new bank of names out there, but I’ll wait til the appropriate pax are present. I will weigh in anyway with “Sexy Back”, “Cry Me a River”, and “Bye Bye Bye”.

Thinking of Timberlake and his past…how about “Britney”

Hair Band

Poot, Sexy Back, Britney are all good.

While I have seen a few renames they were brought up by someone else.
Wasn’t “Assless Chaps” the example of don’t rename yourself or else?

Clippie isn’t even that bad. Maybe since he tried to name himself Mountain Boy we just call him Brokeback Mountain.

Yep, AC was unhappy with his name from what I was told and complained so much about wanting to be renamed (from Daniel Boone I think) that he got AC instead.

He probably will never come back if we call him Brokeback, I probably wouldn’t.

Agreed but such a softball I had to throw it out there. 🙂

I wasn’t there when he was an FNG so I’m not sure how he got it but Clippie seemed fine, not sure why he is trying to change it.

I wiki’d Justing and came up with some more:

Shelby – Shelby Forest is where JT grew up
Memphis – Where JT was born
Mickey Mouse – One of his first gigs was on the Mickey Mouse Club (with Britney)
Biel – His wife’s last name

More fuel for the fire:
Works at Microsoft (hence Clippy, that horrible paper clip helper). I met him at Clemson where he was working on his PhD in math. Lots of material here….

His allusion to mountains is probably pulled from his family cabin out in the wilderness in Colorado. No power, plumbing, etc. Unabomber comes to mind.

Last, he is (or was at one time) quite the committed runner. So much so that, according to legend, he’d often come back with one sock. It’s a toss up between Choco Sox & Socksual Chocolate. If the latter, he stamps his feet in the COT, Mic Drops and walks to the car. (see 2:00 min mark, here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KzANAr1V82c).

He’s already paid to run on the Free Range BRR team, so he’s got to come back. But he has proven to be quite the sensitive sort.

As with Ron “Bloody Hell” Weasley (Awena), this one’s not yet done….

Along the Unabomber theme, we could call him Kaczynski.

Though as someone that loves Coming To America and considers it a classic, I am heavily leaning toward Socksual Chocolate now! Even if he only did the foot stomp walk off to the car thing once it would be legendary!

I had totally forgotten about Clippie being the name of the help assistant. That’s not a bad name, he could get much worse.

Splinter

Junk in a box and Britney are two of the best F3 handles I have heard in quite some time.

safe suggestion is Excel. if he is sensitive he will like that…but maybe too strong for someone trying to name themselves
