Clyent Dinner – Patio Seating available

Clyent Dinner – Patio Seating available

11 guests opted for the new patio seating area at #ClyentDinner.  Our motto is to be the only best nighttime workout in F3 Waxhaw.  Co-Site Qs Centerfold and Bottlecap have strived to make many improvements but to keep the whining PAX happy, we kept the buffet under cover.

APPETIZER/MAIN COURSE/DESSERT

  • 2.6 miles covered
  • Partner work with 200-ish Mike Tysons
  • Tabata with Legs and Chest and complaining

RECEIPT

  • 11 PAX including 2 2.0s was a great showing for an evening workout

  • Whatever it is, this “different” workout is now over a year old
  • It fills a void for some PAX
  • All it takes is for someONE or TWO to step up and try something
  • What workout, project, event, etc. will YOU step up and lead in 2020?

That guy just completed a marathon.  AWESOME stuff.  What goals are you going to put out in front of your F3 brothers so we can hold you accountable?  Is 2020 going to be a year where you ACCELERATE OR COAST?

Thanks to Nails for taking us out!

I Bet You Get A Free Bowl Of Soup…

So how many guys are going to show up? What could I plan to keep scratch golfers happy while allowing those that need mulligans to stay in play moving with pace? For such a prestigious site they have very little in regards to space close to the clubhouse. I would need to make use of the entire course.

I had a couple golf themes but they didn’t quite come fruition. What I had planned below I felt good about overall and only concerns was keeping the pack to get her. The big one was, once we are deep in the neighborhood, how in the heck will we get out?

A gang of people here. DiCCS given. Let’s roll.

THE THANG

Mosey around the lot and circle up for….

1. 72 x SSH IC

2. 18 x Moroccan Night Clubs

3. 18 x Merkins IC

4. 18 x Imperial Squawker

6. Calf Stretch

Mosey to 1st caldesac. Par 4. Out and back two times. 20 Speedskaters on the green and 5 burpees at the tee box.

Mosey to next caldesac. Another Par 4. Out and back one time. Side shuffle to circle, alternating as much as needed. 15 Merkins on the green and 15 Carolina Dry Docks at the tee box.

Mosey to next caldesac. Par 3. Out and back two times. Jailbreak to the green but mosey back. 20 big boys on the green and 20 gas pumps at the tee box.

Mosey to traffic circle. We are at the turn and it’s time to reload the coolers. 10 burpees a minute. 25 MTs in a minute. 10 burpees a minute.

Mosey to next caldesac. Small Par 3 with a dogleg left. Out and back 1 time. 20 lunges then mosey to the green. 20 heels to heaven in the tee box.

Mosey to other traffic circle. Lt. Dan time!! 1 squat, 4 jump lunges. Continue up to 10 and 40.

Thanks to Goodfella for taking us out!

MOLESKIN

38 pax for my 36th Q and my 1st Q at Bushwood CC! Not sure if I’ve Q’d a workout this big but always my pleasure to lead the gang. Luckily the plan all came together and I only had to audible the 2nd par 4 down to a single round.

The opening 72 SSHs was awful, Lt. Dan’s just hurt but that freaking traffic circle with burpees and MTs was the worst. Those doing the actual full burpee would hate those MTs and even Frack mentioned at coffee that getting through that without a break is tough. The next round of 10 burpees was closest I’ve ever come to dry heaving. I will surely doing those again.

Thanks to everyone that posted! Set those 2020 goals and go after them. I’m still working through them personally but they will happen for sure.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

See today’s BB. Whoops and sorry.

“Don’t Embarrass Us.”

Last night, Gummy texted YHC with a thank you, a caution and a threat.  Having been duly encouraged, how could YHC not Q the first Hydra edition of the new decade?!

Both site Q’s DR.  No SF, sadly.  Nevertheless, 17 pax mustered including an on-time yet still LIFO Floorslapper.  Also, in the pre-game walkthrough, YHC noticed Daisy had made a return appearance – good to have him back amongst the Area51 faithful.

Below is a brief description of The Thang and some Moleskinny:

We ran a lap around OPES – Geraldo tells me it’s a 1/3 of a mile.  OK.  He didn’t actually inform me of that until the 2nd lap during the partner rock work.  Hammer did not leave the hoodies behind in 2019; but he did actually leave it on the entire workout.  Despite living about 1/2 mile from the AO, he still left prior to the Mary at the end.  Nature calling, no doubt…or just doesn’t like people and the niceties that sometimes accompany COT and thereafter.

Natured called Gloss a few times, and he was muttering something in COP about the wings.  Big man fall hard.  Thankful he kept it bottled during the partner segment of the workout.

Clover continues to use the stall tactic of asking for a demonstration of called exercises (Gummy would be proud), and it worked once.  YHC is a slow learner.

Marge couldn’t help but bring up the Clemson-Ohio State game with Hopper.   Hopper, gracious as ever, was willing to discuss.  Thanks to Hopper for extending YHC some grace during COT as I forgot him during Namearama.  #cobains

IHOP and Slingshot are posting machines, and they both ran in…I think…even without Sprockets.  Another should-be proud moment for our absent site Q’s.  Methinks they both of these OP denizens need to Q soon.

Snowflake also ran in.  The Respect just keeps putting in the hard work…unlike Spackler who is nearly 20 years his junior.  Spackler did post, but after exclaiming he was “done” with about 10 minutes to go in the workout (as if he had been getting after it prior) — YHC replied, “I think that was the case before you posted.”

Though I didn’t hear a peep from Thunder or Queen during the downpainment, they both were getting after it as per their norm.

Didn’t notice if Jet Fuel was neatly tucked in this morning, but I did note he must have been working hard as he left a clear imprint from his t-shirt on the smooth OPES asphalt.

Mr. Magoo, another one of our triumvirate of Respect’s this morning, continues to post and defy his age with the work he puts in.  T-claps.

We ran some laps, did some rock work, including Rockhopper’s with an actual rock.  First time YHC has ever called that one.  We’ll do that again.

An awful lot of complaining after the hot lap around the school.  YHC audibled but shouldn’t have.  Won’t make that mistake again.

….now back to Gummy’s text to YHC at 8:44pm last night.  His final word of ‘encouragement’ was “Don’t embarrass us”.  Thanks for the pep talk, coach!

Hope I didn’t embarrass or disappoint.  Welcome to 2020, men.  I pray all of us will have a better understanding of who God is; but, moreover, a deeper trust in Him.  Thankful for you guys.

No fanfare, no standing around, just get the work done …

2 pax met in the gloom on the final Thursday for Meathead.  One arrived 0528 and the other at 0531.  These veterans of kettlebells required no disclaimer, mumble-chatter about the lack of attendance ensued, and then it was go time.  With a late start and a full weinke the need for speed set in and both Soul Glo and YHC crushed this workout to wrap up at 0616.

The Thang:

25 2 handed swings
Merkin x 20
25 2 handed swings
Stretch/Prying Squat
Halos 5 each direction

3 sets 12 or AMRAP up to 12:
Goblet Squat and Good Morning then 25 High pull each side

10 tricep ext, 15 curls
5 tricep ext, 20 curls

Leuganis x 10

Moleskine:

This was billed as the last time Meathead would meat on a Thursday at Elizabeth Lane Elementary.  No fanfare, no standing around and remembering the good ol’ days, just pax getting the work in.  Exactly how it should be done.  Hope everyone enjoyed their holidays and happy new year to all the pax across F3.

Starting Monday, January 6th expect to see a strength workout down at McAlpine lead by Mighty Mite and Ickey Shuffle, Wednesdays you can find Meathead at Calvary at 0530 with Anvil, and on Saturdays Olympus returns to Elizabeth Lane Elementary for 0630 start.  #SYITG

Partner Work Without the Partner

3 PAX rang in the new year in style at Arsenal this morning, one of whom (myself) still mildly hungover from NYE festivities.  Grabbed the ruck sack and away we mosey-d to the football field.

Warm-up

SSH x 15

Hillbillys x 15

Low Slow Squat x 15

The Thang

YHC planned a partner workout for the ages, one to tell your grandchildren about, however with just a trio of PAX, YHC was forced to call a Peyton Manning-esque audible.  The outcome you ask?  Each PAX was forced to complete a smoke show of a workout originally designed for two!

Each PAX grabbed a tire and lined it up in the end zone.  Commenced to complete a Ladder (1-1, 2-2, 3-3, etc.) up to 10 and back down again of tire flips and merkins.  After this, we used the hill behind the goalpost to complete a round of 7s (merkins and squats).  With one bag between the 3 of us, we were to take turns lugging it up and down the hill during our 7s (although Atlas shouldered most of the load).  After 7s were complete, we took a lap to the opposite end zone and back.  We then completed another round of Ladders, this time consisting of tire flips mixed with squats.  By this point, it was time to return the tires and mosey back to launch.

Moleskine

YHC concocted a workout more appropriate for an hour bootcamp.  Ran out of time before we could complete the 3rd round of Ladders (although probably a good thing considering burpees were on-tap for that one).  I was all excited to test out the new ruck sack I bought, but Atlas and Madame T ended up having to carry it more that I did, thanks for helping pick up my slack fellas.  Having just started this past summer, I’m excited to begin my first full calendar year of F3.  I’m looking forward to getting faster, stronger, better.  Thank you to everyone for motivating me to get after it.  Truly grateful.  Happy 2020, see you in the gloom!

MOLESKIN:

Perfect weather this morning for my favorite AO in all of Waxhaw.  I don’t know how much longer the lights will be up downtown but you can’t beat the scenery in the morning. If you haven’t made it down with your family in the evening this holiday season I would highly recommend.

Props to Chastain, Dana, and Fuse Box for making it out and keeping their 2020 perfect attendance streak intact.

Since the weight loss challenge started up this week I wanted to start with something that keeps everyone moving.  It wasn’t a true burpee mile because the official burpee mile was born at Ignition and is exactly a mile (who would’ve thought) and is exactly 100 burpees.  This one got in 1.3 miles, 65 burpees, and 130 LBCs so it was something, just not The Burpee Mile®.

I think everyone got in over 3 miles today so the running box should be checked and everyone can move on to Diesel tomorrow to get the weights box checked (remember pool season is only 4 short months away.

What happened to Deadwood and Zinfandel the past few days?  Are they shooting for 0 posts in 2020?  So far, so good on that goal I guess.

Speaking of goals for 2020, what’s yours?  It doesn’t matter where you are on the spectrum of faith, weight, fitness, family, etc.  Something to keep you focused and in the game is always a good idea.  Maybe it’s 5 more minutes of one on one time with each kid before bed?  An extra date night a month with the M?  10 minutes in the Word every evening?  3 posts a week?  4 posts a week?  5 posts a week?  More 2nd and 3rd F posts?  Octuple?  Dryuary?  Veganuary?  200 posts in 2020?  Maybe 250? Reducing yours and your kids screen time?  It’s all possible, you just have to have a 20/20 focus and take it one day at a time.  Tell others your goals to help keep you accountable.

Thank you for the opportunity to lead today.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

  • Clyent Dinner tonight. Should be record attendance due to the 0/2 numbers many PAX have posted this year
  • Mayhem has his VQ tomorrow at Diesel. Basketball Themed workout.
  • January 11th, Christ’s Closet folding day at Union United Methodist Church at 8:00am after Commitment and Homecoming.
  • Weight Loss Challenge weigh-ins have begun. Please see Foundation’s scale to get that done asap and SIGN UP if you haven’t already.  Please see his multiple preblasts in both the Playhouse and News Channel for info.  Loss weight and get paid, sounds pretty good.

BagNest New Year’s Eve Convergence

26 PAX put in a strong effort to close out the year and decade! I think we’re all looking forward to a brand new year and the opportunity to get better and stronger – more on that later with Dr. Kirby’s Fitness Test.

Disclaimer was made and off we went for some COP at the Vine:

*IW X 15
*Hillbilly X 15 (after a quick weinke check by YHC to make sure we stayed on plan-thanks for pointing that out, Kirby…I feel the love)
*Cherry Pickers w/ “the Clap” X 15
*Plank up for calf stretches – left, then right
*Mountain Climber X 15
*Mosey down to Loch Ness for the Fitness Test

Dr. Kirby’s Fitness Test – based on some in depth research involving firemen, Kirby explained to the PAX that those who are able to do at least 40 merkins in under 1 minute without stopping are less likely to have a heart attack. This was much harder than YHC first thought because I found myself pausing in bad plank form a few times before I finished. Runstopper saw to it that I didn’t get 50 reps in when he took a seat on my back at 49. I believe all the PAX passed this test with no heart attacks.

Now on to part 2 where we ran 3 laps around Loch Ness and then finished up at the rock pile approximating 1 mile. No one told Wingman that we were going counter clockwise so he ended up at the back of the PAX but pulled ahead very quickly for an impressive finish. Kirby timed the PAX and all I know is Snuka is a beast and finished his mile in under 8 mins. Amazing. Tagalong and Runstopper were breathing down his neck for a photo finish. All the PAX put in a solid effort. This gives us a good benchmark of our overall fitness level heading into the new year (YHC has a long way to go for sure!).

After we finished cussing Kirby for coming up with this idea, we partnered up and moseyed over to the rock pile. Each pair picked out 1 medium sized rock and then moseyed over the bridge to the parking lot.

*Round 1: Partner 1 runs with their rock to the end of parking lot and back while partner 2 does prescribed exercise, flip flop until each team completed 100 monkey humpers, 100 calf raises, and 100 LBC’s.

* Round 2: Partner 1 planks while partner 2 does 7 low rock curls, 7 high rock curls, and 7 regular rock curls. Flip flop.

Mosey back to Loch Ness (to the right, now left) for a lively round of 4 corners called out by Kirby which included step ups, heel tap crunches (what are those?), derkins and more.

Mosey back to launch for some Mary and time was called.

It was an honor for Kirby and I to have the opportunity to lead you men today. F3 has meant a lot to us this year and we look forward to 2020.  Happy New Year!

Announcements:

*Runstopper is 50 = Respect

*Kirby and Hops took us out with a double prayer. Kirby started it off by praying that we become better men of F3 in the new year. Hops wrapped it up with a prayer to leave behind the “junk” in 2019 and not to take that forward.

Waxhaw New Year’s Convergence

22 Men won the battle with the pillow didn’t drink as much last night and found a way to post this morning.  About a month ago I noticed that Christmas and New Years Day both fell on a Wednesday.  I reached out to the Dromedary crew to gauge their interest in converging.  The thought being that as we have added workouts, we have fragmented pax.  It would be nice to all be together for the first workout of the year.  Dromedary agreed, though at first both site Q’s said they would be traveling and not make the workout.  Ultimately they both made it this morning.

Glidah and I arrived early to set up gear.  Planned for as many as 38, but quickly found the number to be much lower.  Gear set up and only 8 minutes left so I rush over to the start so that I have time to weigh in and strategically relocate the Herpes sticker (as of this writing, the pax has not found it).  2 minutes left….blatter is kinda full.  Where the hell is foundation.  DICCS given by Goodfella and away we go.

WARM UP

Mosey down path and circle up at first light for 20 SSH.

Mosey behind the school to alcove for (15?) Low Slow Squats.

Mosey to basketball court for (15?) Imperial Walkers.

Mosey to Transporters Shed Rudy’s Poop Palace for 20 Merkins.

THE THANG

Grab Wall for 20 Mike Tysons and 20 Donkey Kicks.

Mosey to Traffic Circle and partner up in groups of three.

Round 1: 2 laps each

P1: Curls with Blocks.  P2: LBC.  P3: Runner in between.

Round 2: 2 laps

P1: Shoulder Press.  P2: Flutter.  P3: Runner

Round 3: 2 lamps

P1: Man Makers Burpee Press with block.  P2: Heels to Heaven.  P3: Runner.

CHISELED’s Turn

Mosey to football parking lot.  Staying in groups of three.  Gear stations on opposite ends of parking lot with runner in between:

  • 27 lb bar curl.  Runner.  25 lb Hammer Curl
  • 25 or 35lb Tricep Extension.  Runner.  10 lb tricep kick backs
  • 50 lb Military Press.  Runner.  Cinder block press.
  • 10 lb Front & Side Raise.  Runner.  10 lb Reverse Fly
  • Cinder Block Row.  Runner.  30 lb Lawnmower Pull (one arm Row).
  • Merkins on Block.  Runner.  Merkins  Removed due to number of pax.
  • Squats.  Hair Burner.  Reverse Lunge.  This was the timer.  After every pax had pushed plates twice, we rotated.

Five minutes left.  Mosey back to start around the front of the schools.

MOLESKIN

  • Thanks to those who fought to get out of bed for joining us this morning.  Lots of hung over pax based on numbers today.
  • A big thanks to Glidah for helping me plan and get equipment from Five Stones.  Thanks also to Chastain for helping us clean up afterwards.
  • Goodfella a little angry at me when I corrected his lexicon on the Man Makers (I’m not sure why).   A man maker is done with dumbells and includes a merkin, row, curl, press, and lunges.  Iron pax had their lexicon wrong and I’ve seen in incorrectly called in Waxhaw.  Splitting hairs, I know, but I still like for the correct exercise to be called so that if we go to other regions, we don’t spread misinformation.
  • Dana was extra mad at the hair burners.  (Do you see a pattern in the Dromedary Site Q’s?).  Though I have to agree, the hair burners were especially tough today.  Looks like some Pam will need to be applied before being used again (Friction sucks).
  • Dana still feeling the Dough Boy KY beat down yesterday.  I thought Va Tech (they apparently hate being called that by the way) had that one won, but a strong last drive from Kentucky sealed the deal with less than 15 seconds to go in the game.  Sounds like Dana is glad this was Bud Fosters last game.
  • Spike reminding us on groupme there is a culture difference.  I assumed they celebrated the new year in Asia.  Spike only realizing it after seeing now groupme workout photo on his way to work this morning.
  • Herpes magnet was first going on Tupperware’s new ride, but the carbon fiber wouldn’t hold the magnet.  In my desperate rush, I applied it to the nearest vehicle which was Mad Dog, but having woken up on the mosey’s, I realized he already had the honor of finding it while at the grocery store.  So after the workout was over I quickly and covertly relocated it.  And as I check Groupme one last time…..it has been found!  Thanks for being a good sport Gerber.  Now you can relive how that played out this morning.  You were literally a last second audible.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • Lots of Third F opportunities in the coming year.  Ice 9 shared some things the Charlotte region is doing including three different workouts.  I don’t remember the details or locations, but I know one of them targets teenagers without father figures and another one targets men trying to get sober or off drugs.  There was talk of F3 Waxhaw chipping in to help Q occasionally.
  • Christ Closet is in desperate need of folders.  Folding party Jan 11th.  More clothes than they had after the F3 Waxhaw Launch.  Need help with locations to give away as well.
  • Goodfella spoke about keying in on one word this year to push for.  His was legacy and more about raising his three sons with a 4th on the way.  Mad dog suggested perhaps Vasectomy might be the better word.

Prepping for Dryuary

Damascus texted yesterday morning just as I was really getting to the meat and potatoes of my heart felt apology to my beer fridge in the garage.  I was right in the middle of my “but the kids will come and store their juice boxes with you and maybe even their ice cream” when I looked down to see the text I need an emergency fill in.  Knowing Monday mornings are my kryptonite I decided to take the Gig to ensure my posting and keeping Zin from blaring his horn in my driveway at 5am.  I also need to kick start my Dryuary motivation into high gear because let’s be honest it’s going to be rough.  I think Clemson has a better chance of beating LSU in the Natty than me making it a month or DW has a better chance of not Qing in 2020 or Fuse has a better chance of doing a full burpee and not a Aussie burpee but nonetheless in the spirit of “what in the what did I just sign up for” let’s go do this thing!

8 guys joined me this morning for a mainly dry tour around the Wesley Chapel storefronts and into Wesley Oaks neighborhood.  It was a really fast group so we were able to cover ground pretty quickly and move from one station to the next.

That Thang:

Warm up: 20 SSH, 15 IW, 10 LSS, 20 Merkins and stretch

Mosey to Hickory Tavern for 50-40-30-20-10 Descending reps

50 Air Squats, 40 Walking Lunges, 30 Dips, 20 Merkins, 10 Burpees, When you finish elbow plank until everyone is done.

Mosey around HT and Brooklyn back to where we started for a TABATA Style 30 Seconds on, 10 seconds off, we alternated between Makhtar N’Diayes and Steps Ups, 2 rounds each.

Line up for Burpee Indian Run to Wesley Oaks!  This is always a brutal test especially when you have someone like Ice 9 that runs past the front guy by 50 yards in a full sprint.  I had the unfortunate role of of going behind him and it was awful.  Upon the call for recovery I couldn’t breathe and get out the next exercise.  Let’s do every light pole on the right and alternate 20 Bobby Hurley’s and 20 Speed Skaters, up to main entrance and back.

Mosey to Pets Mart for some Partner Work:  100 Donkey Kicks between partners.

Grab some wall for air presses and Jabs with heel raises and toe raises thrown in.

Mosey back to start for 3 minutes of Ab work and Done!

Moleskin:

I was already really sore from a brutal Q on Saturday from Zin Man at Homecoming so this morning was tough to keep up with this group.  The descending rep scheme is something I wanted to try for awhile and it seemed to go over pretty well.  I always enjoy trying to throw something new into each Q, sometimes it works and other times it falls flatter than the beer in my fridge come February.  Props to Ice 9, that dude is a machine!  That Dude has one speed called Balls to the Wall!
