4 men walk into a parking deck…

DATE: 2023-04-12 AO: Wamrap Q: rachel PAX: rachel, Orange Whip, O Tannenbaum, Kaboom FNGs: None COUNT: 4 After weeks of big #s it was 4 men who showed up on the clear cool morning to see what the parking deck had in store.
Rachel volunteered to Q and took us on a BLIMPS journey through all the levels and a loop around dog bark alley.
It was a solid, meat and potatoes type workout, with Rachel disappearing moments after finishing the final explanation of the route.
Kaboom 💥 has stepped up to lead his first workout next week. I believe this will be his VQ.
Also congrats to him for landing a new gig at TSA as he had been on the job hunt. Just make sure you don’t yell “Kaboom!” when you see him in security.
OT shared a special story on how he posted at F3 Cape Fear in Wrightsville beach and they made him jump in the intercoastal and swim to another dock, climb up on it, do merkins and swim back…this was after doing yoga. And you thought we were weird.
New A51 shirts will be on sale soon.

The sounds men make

DATE: 2023-04-12 AO: Sacs Q: hoover PAX: Cheese Curd, fire_hazard, sledge, lex_luthor, Broken Arrow, Happy Little Tree FNGs: 1 Happy Little Tree COUNT: 7 Pax promptly gathered at SCMS, and witnessed two guys take off running into the gloom. Grasshopper and Joker had no interest in our little bookbag party.
Pax were instructed to grab rucks and sandbags, then the Q lead with a glorious disclaimer. “All right, let’s go.” And we were off to Davie Park.
WARMUP: Ruck to Davie Park with sandbags. THE THANG: walk around the gate, go to the first light pole 10 OH presses, suitcase carry sandbag to the next light pole, 10 squats, suitcase carry to the next light pole, 10 merkins, front rack carry to the next light pole, 10 sandbag chest presses, OH carry to the next light pole, 10 lunges each leg, front hug carry to the next light pole, 10 bent over rows, standard carry to the last light pole, drop sandbags and bear crawl around the circle, do some mary, then reverse course and repeat back to the gate. do some mary then head back to launch MARY: we did it along the way ANNOUNCEMENTS: WTF, BrewRuck, Broken Arrow’s night orienteering event at Crowders, we got a new logo be on the lookout for a pre-order soon. COT: Joker showed up and was bullied into joining us then was bullied into leading the take-out. It was an epic take-out, some would say, actually everyone is saying, the most epicest of take-outs. It all started with “All right, Lord, listen up …”
T-claps to our FNG Happy Little Tree. She, yes not a dude, is Sledge’s 2.0 (12 years old). She’s not on spring break but still got up for a 0515 workout with her dad. She was subjected to all of the terrible sounds and smells men make in the gloom (especially Cheese Curd’s grunting). The highlight of her day I am sure, especially when her dad (Sledge) let one rip during Mary and gassed us all out of Davie Park.
TWSS jokes were few and far between today.
T-claps to Sledge for bringing her out.

Lamppost Lineup

DATE: 2023-04-12 AO: -Maul Q: Hippie PAX: Odd Job, midriff, teddyf3, Eleanor, Chopper FNGs: None COUNT: 6 WARMUP: ‘Lil jog to the cinemas. Circle up for side straddle hop, mountain climbers, mercans, and calf stretch
THE THANG: Crossed the street and headed into Thornhill and headed for the first lamppost. At each of the first 3 lampposts we performed:
10x mercans, 10x squats, 10x flutter kicks
Then for the next 3 lampposts we changed exercises to include:
10x Carolina Dry Docks, 10x Sister Mary Catherines, 10x LBC
We continued to alternate these exercises after every set of 3 lampposts. The lamppost trail took us just beyond the pool and then we turned around and headed up Stonepath Lane for a couple of hidden lampposts in the cul de sacs. We went back past the pool again and performed a 180 to let the lampposts lead us home.
A set of 10 Big boy Sit-ups at the end to burn off the rest of our time.
All told, we ended with 60 reps (not an official count but the PAX will keep me honest) of each of the six exercises over 2.5 miles.
MARY: 60x flutter kicks, 60x LBC, 10 BigBoy

Angry Canadian in your life? Play a board game!

DATE: 2023-04-05 AO: -Maul Q: das_boot PAX: das_boot, Odd Job, Primus, Palmolive, Franky, Hippie, Luke Crabwalker, Olaf, patent_pending, super trooper FNGs: None COUNT: 10 YHC arrived at Tap & Vine to see about a dozen cars in the nearby lot but no one standing around. Had to check the day off the week and the time to make YHC has the Q … but that could speak to the fact that YHC has developed a poor habit of showing up about a minute before launch. Then the stream of cars — including an angry Canadian (who knew?!) — came rolling in.
WARMUP: Mosey to the Elm overpass for monkey humpers facing the incoming traffic. Unfortunately, the wall is a little higher than expected, so the plan was a bust. SSH and hillbillies to complete it. Mosey back to the front movie theater parking lot.
THE THANG: Grab the old school Connect Four board game, split into teams and play high stakes games where losers do 10 burpees and winners just 5.
Exercises while a team member ran to play their chip included: – T merkins – jump squats – pointer dogs – Supermans – LBC – CDD – alternating shoulder taps – deep squat hold – something else YHC does not remember right now
Black team won twice, red team once
Finish with a few more exercises and sprints.
MARY: OYO time
MOLESKINE: Apparently some non-F3 guy in a big truck was tailing Odd Job pretty hard coming into the parking lot and we learned to our surprise that Canadians can get angry! He kept an eye on the truck that parked behind Firebird’s and YHC considered a 45 minutes plank to keep an eye on all these cars already parked nearby and especially on OJs new arch nemesis. Considered but not acted on, so we moseyed for other options. Monkey humpers didn’t do the trick but a board game had some calming effect eventually.
Major fail includes the Q assuming everyone knows how to play this classic childhood game. Wrong. After just for turns — the minimal needed for victory — team red was dismayed to see the pair returning with the game in hand and a victorious black team member. Franky, what happened?! “What am I supposed to do? How do you play this game?!” D’oh! Turned out Primus wasn’t familiar with it either but his moves were more successful. So we planked for a primer on the game. We still did our burpees — some mercy but not complete mercy.
The other rounds went well and lasted a bit longer, with the second being a more epic battle. For the deep squat hold that YHC found on YouTube the night before, Primus informed us this is the horse 💩 position in India. Again we were fortunate that no one took that as a suggestion.
By this time, tempers had cooled but eyes were still on the mysterious truck parked behind Firebird’s and how the driver sneaked up the berm into the trees. The PAX delivered a strong effort this morning, both physical and mental. Good laughs and great to see some faces that YHC does get to see as often.

Set one at each end of the parking lot for 11’s. Exercises were man-makers and overhead squats, both obviously with the blocks. I’d like to say that “no blocks were harmed in the execution of this well considered plan. However, there is a trip to Home Depo in my future to replenish our F3 stockpile. Mosey to the stairwell.
