11 Men posted for this weekends edition of Outland for soggy beatdown. Turnpike gets the gold star for the week as he arrived early for a three plus mile warm up and then proceeded to pick up the Q for the second half of the beatdown. Strong work brother.

Now it’s time to get back line it up boys another Indian Run to where the Shovel Flag is. Well Hairband stopped where the shove flag is usually planted so that is where we stopped.
Since there is still time the PAX lined up on the small track.
Since I heard some chatter during the workout of bear crawls and crab walks it was time to get some of that in.
From the middle to the first turn: Bear Crawl
From the first turn to the second turn crab walk
from the second turn to the third turn lunge walk
From the third turn to end sprint.
Now in honor of it being a wet, rainy day with some time left it would not be a Turnpike rain Q without getting the PAX on their Six and ensure they do not stay dry.
40 LBC’S OYO
In cadence 20 Flutter’s
30 Seconds of Freddy Mercury
Moleskin: Great work by all that rolled out of the warm and cozy fart sack and into the soggy morning for a strong start to the day. We covered a lot of ground this am as we touched down on the grounds of all 4 schools that make up the campus. Extra points to Hairband who made it happen although he’s still recovering from a knee injury.
Announcements:
Drop Thrill: A few announcements have been sent out to the PAX over the past couple of days with updates on Drop Thrill as he was admitted to the hospital a few days ago with a possible Stroke (minor). Grad to announce that the doctors could not find signs of a stroke and there have been DT sightings over that past couple of days since his hospital visit. He seems to be returning to normal but keep our brother in your prayers while he recovers.

Six men on the fields of Outland for this am’s beatdown
The Thang
Mosey to Shovel Flag for Warm up COP
Mosey to Rock Pile, pick a manly sized stone and a partner
Hillwork
Indian Run from SVMS over to SVES. Hat Trick, so named for his love of soccer, brought his soccer ball so we put it to good use. Front of the line kept pace moving along with the soccer ball and passes to the sprinter as they take the lead. Here it was evident the some of our PAX have some skills and some (YHC) do not…
Pick a column or piece of wall
Mosey over to Shiloh Elem playground
She Hate Me x 8 mins
6 MoM
Indian Run back to the SVMS
COT
Moleskin: With some of the PAX participating in the Southern Discomfort and several gone for summer break the numbers were small this morning. Our site’s host SVHS added an extra obstacle to the practice field, on which we spend some time every beatdown. Sand. They’ve laid sand in the many holes on the field, giving it a feel on running on the beach. This provided an extra level of O2 deprivation while doing sprints. Even with sand filled shoes following the sprints at the practice field everyone present made a strong showing. FNG “Mean Green” showed that he’s got wheels and a good pit crew in case of a blow out (See above for some additional details.). Dream went for extra credit this a.m. by biking to and from the beatdown F3strong. Good work all.
Double E, Glass Joe and Shepherd arrived early for a 4.0 mile pre-run. T-claps to this crew who consistently goes the extra mile or 5 prior to the standard beatdown.
The remaining PAX kicked off the daily beatdown at 7:00 a.m.
The Thang
Que with Wienke in hand (pocket) confidently launched the beatdown and all mosied over to the disc golf course for COP. Those familiar with Outland know that this is typically where the shovel flag is planted. YHC failed to get the Shovel flag back this week (Que Fail). A big thanks to The Late Show for coming through with a Mini Flag as a stand in for the missing shovel flag. The mini flag was planted by the parking lot so we had proper representation.
– SSH x25 – IW x25 – 4 count squats x25 – Perfect Merkin x10 – Arm circles and shoulder stretch – Plank and runners stretch
Mosey over to the front of the stadium for a quick hop over the half wall and… DENIED. So here’s where the beatdown was turned on it’s head. The inner gate, which is a little too high to jump, was locked and the PAX were lined up in the gauntlet with no place to go. Loving jeers of “Que Fail” echoed from the walls of SVHS to the the bleachers of the stadium as we headed back over the half wall and onto the front lawn of the school. So… with good intentions… said Que led the PAX the long way around the HS to get to the back entrance of the stadium. One Indian run and a couple of pain stations later we were at the concession stand in the back of the school with semi-smoked PAX and no time left for the original plan of “Stairway to Heaven” on the stadium steps. In the spirit of adapt and over we lined up with backs against the wall of the concession stand.
Aside from some grumbling about tearing should out of the socket the wall Planks seemed to be a crowd pleaser. Added to the WIB.
Line it up and Indian Run over to the Dip bars. Grab a side and lift. The PAX moved the bars close to the Pull up bars at the obstacle course and then continued back over to the SVMS with some back peddling, and karaoke added in for good measure. Strong work by all. There was no lack of mileage in today’s beatdown and the PAX stayed together and stayed tough. 2 minute water break at the cars, circle up in Core Strengthening position, move into active plank work and then mosey back over to the obstacle course.
11’s at the pull up bars/dips bars – 10 hanging leg raises on the pull up bar and 1 Inverted row (supine Pull-up) on the dip bars – 9 hanging leg raises on the pull up bar and 2 Inverted rows (supine Pull-ups) on the dip bars – etc…
3-4 MoM – Reverse Crunch x20 – Dying cockroach x20 (on you back feet in the air toe touches)
– Walk the plank across the Over / Under Obstacle (Left then Right) x3 – Burpees between the Over / Under Obstacle. So do 1 burpee plank walk under the poles you just plank walked across, do a burpee in between and keep going. (2 rounds). Plank it up and wait for everyone to finish. Another Que Fail here as we had to call it before all PAX could finish because we were running over time.
Mosey back over to the parking lot and mini shovel flag for COT.
Moleskin: Impressive showing by the PAX today, especially the newer guys. The Count, who’s been out a few weeks in a row and The Undertaker who was an F3 FNG Friday at Overdrive and the returned for more pain on Saturday, both left it on the fields of Outland. It’s good to have two new strong brothers. Also, good to see new leadership and commitment growing in Shepherd (consistent pre-run participant) and The Late Show (many-time Que) who’ve been regulars at Outland for while now… See above for additional commentary.

Spartan Burpees x10 and COT
Moleskin: strong work by all this morning. The sprints and core work turned out to be a not only a gasser but also a test in coordination with a new core exercise (unnamed) which successfully confused the PAX. Lesson learned. The Late Show pulled out his racing slicks and burned up the track during the sprints, finishing in the lead every time. Well done!

After a 2 minute delay to download Map my run off we go to the MS courtyard for the warmup and obligatory SSH. Do some windmills and then rail slides. Done.
Let the Tour begin.
Cruise to ES #1 for people’s chair and handstand holds/push-ups. Repeato.
Cruise around to Rogers Rd and back to ES#2, hop the fence and UDTs and pull-ups. Repeato.
Hop the fence and around to the back of ES#1, stopping to taste test the honeysuckle growing in the fence. Lunge walk about 20 steps. Up and down the stairs to nowhere 1/2 dozen times (inspired by CT to “keep the heart rate up”).
Electric Merkin slides across the driveway. Regular, slide to wide, slide to diamond, back to regular.
Down the back road up to the baseball fields. Stop and hit 10 squats oyo.
Continue to the gate and plank it up. Completed LBCs, Peter Parkers, Freddie’s, plank shoulder taps. 20 each then mosey to rock pile.

Off we go around toward the front of the high school with a (2) minute pause to stretch out hips and hammies. At the front we start 30/30s. Fast run/Mosey. Around the front and back down along the road to the front of the MS.
Done.
COT
No new announcements, thanks Game Show for taking us out with prayer.
Ye Olde Moleskin
Audible by YHC to download map my run went well. Would have been better if I knew how to operate it. All that to register a 0.0, ah well. Awesome work by Game Show on the pull-ups. Dude is beast. Pounded out his reps unassisted and then basically picked me up 10 times on my 2nd set.
There was some kind of run/walk event at the football field so the campus was pretty crowded. We had to dodge some cars and pedestrians.
We encountered a possible re-name event when rounding the HS. Running past parked cars I got spooked when some lady walked out in front of us. I spooked her too judging by the “omigosh a big sweaty hairy possum” look she gave me. Game Show got the “hey there Mr Eye Candy” look.
Oh well. I used to have it. But then they changed what it was, now what’s it seems scary and strange.
Strong work all around!

Partner 1 supine rows while partner 2 runs to edge of field and back.
Flapjack. Repeat-o.
Next round.
Squat to overhead press.
Next round.
Lat pullovers with your rock.
Time for a hunt bear. P1 does the backward bear crawl headed away from the rock pile. P2 sprints toward rock pile to end of field and back to catch the bear. Reset and repeat.
In between we work out the awkwardness of team rowing. Line up bucket brigade style. (Line up shoulder to shoulder facing same direction. Every other pax steps forward and about faces. The lines should be triangulated. Do not stand face to face. That would make it awkward). One line on your six reach across, grab hands. You should have the hand of two different pax. Those standing pull the seated line to their feet.
Next round bear hunt with partner doing reverse walking lunge.
Return your rocks to the pile. Line up on the end line and on your belly. All you got to the dip bar.
Move the dip bar back.
Slow mosey to bottom of hill. Line up on your belly. All ya got to the flag.

Moleskin: Great work this a.m. An extra obstacle presented itself with the stadium fence being locked but the PAX were up to the challenge so up and over we went. The sprints up the stairs proved to be a gasser. After every round the PAX started to converge like we were done but there was more fun to be had so back to stairs we went.
6 PAX Got After it this morning
First Things First… The Hairband Mile (once around the parking lot)
COP (Nomadic Warmup)
– SSH x20
– IW x20
– Mosey around side of school
– LBCs x20
– Flutter Kicks x20
– Mosey over to HS Obstacle Course
PAX stopped for a plank roundup to keep everyone together during the mosey over to the rock pit and our ADD ridden QIC (YHC) got detoured from the mental Wienke by an attractive looking obstacle course on the shoulder of the trail. So, out the window goes the well laid plans and in comes the obstacle course training intro.
Round 1. Three trips plank walking under the elevated telephone poles, an 8 count burpee in between each and back to start. We can all thank Glass Joe for the 8 count burpees. I guess standard burpees would have been too easy.
Round 2. Three trips scrambling over the elevated telephone poles with similar pain station between each. T- Claps to Drop Thrill here. Being the one man who had not previously run the Overdrive Obstacle Course he struggled through the first round but was navigating like a pro by round three.
Round 3. Legs Raises on the Pull up bars, 7… 5…3… 1… This one took some teamwork. 2 men on each bar, facing opposite direction from each other to keep the bar from spinning.
Since the Wienke was out the window and no Q-jack had occurred we moved on to something a little more mainstream F3 beatdown and moseyed over to the practice field for some agility and core work.
Karaoke back and forth across the field followed by high knees and butt kickers.
6 MoM (each man calls his favorite with a couple sets of burpees mixed in to keep the heart rate up)
– (CT)LBCs x20
– (DT) Protractors

– (TLS) ??? this one must’ve been tough because I’ve completely wiped it from my memory #Calloutifyouremember
– (CT) Mack Tar Jai x 12 ish (PAX passed the 4 count around the circle as we went. Forced a little thought and mental contact/awareness to challenge to mental shutdown during physical exertion)
Indian Run around the soccer field and back over to the MS for COT. Early arrivers were rewarded with a burpee celebration while remaining PAX made their way to the finish line.
COT
Moleskin: All in all this was a moderate workout with a couple of “off the beaten path” challenges. Notable Accomplishments:
Great work by all!
