You’re only as old as you feel…not so sure that’s true, but maybe?

Date: 2025-08-25 AO: base-camp Q: Hops PAX: Benny, Header, Snuka, Mr. Magoo, jet_fuel, geraldo, Smash, Dora, Focker, Emoji, O’Tannenbaum, thunder_road, Cottonmouth, Pilgrim, ductwork, Floor Slapper, Erin Brokavich, Limey FNGs: None COUNT: 19 Lots of pax mustering when YHC pulled in..a couple trickling in after including LIFO Pilgrim who was Larry Birding the Q all morning after joining us. Geraldo tells me we went 2.4 miles…a potential record for a bootcamp Q for me. Think I heard Dora grumbling about all the running. Benny was complaining about the burpees at the end. Header refuseniked them as well. I called 3 burpees, guys. THREE. Great effort. Heard someone ask Fuel if he was fond of Auburn…he graciously said “not particularly”. Limey was out front with Pilgrim. Assumed it was Limey when someone torched the pax with a cropduster, but it was Emoji…who also retrieved a camera tripod after the workout. WTH? Snuka had no problem with the workout…just hope I’m still sitting up and taking nourishment when I get to where he is now. Speaking of old guys – OT and Magoo were getting after it as was Cottonmouth who drove in from lower Lake Wylie. Focker was prognosticating about the Browns, Shedeur (sp?) and Ohio State. No one cares. Smash was quiet. Thunder was thankful I showed up so he didn’t have to Q this unwieldy crowd. Erin (who will move in to Respect territory on his next birthday), Ductwork (who’s beard is starting to establish itself with authority and may be older than him) and Floorslapper were kind to post & celebrate YHC’s birthday. No one cares what we did at the workout but we basically ran down to Davie, stopping periodically to do some things including monkey humpers at the traffic on 51. Then did some laps around the median near the playground, blah, blah, blah.
I definitely feel a year older at this point, not sure if I’m a year wiser? But I leave you with this nugget of wisdom from Psalm 90 (the only Psalm attributed to Moses. Yes, that Moses): “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”
No one gets out of here alive, men. Love others sacrificially. We are guaranteed nothing in this life; but hope is available to all of us, and will not disappoint.
Thankful for this fellowship. Glad you guys showed up this morning. The prideful part of me would say I didn’t need the encouragement. But pride’s a liar.
