SOFAWIB BB – Cannon Call

9 PAX assembled at the DOP for a shellacking. It was simple and yet painful.

The Thang

Run to Randwick (cannon entrance) and back for time (1.4 mi round trip).

Do 1/2 of a Murph (50 pullups/100 merkins/150 squats)

Run back to the cannon and back for time.

Do 2/2 of a Murph.

Mary to wait for those who waited.

Naked Moleskin

A new PR @IronMike as he lost his shirt in 2 minutes and 13 seconds. Wonder if he does that at work?

@TalkBox was disgusted by 2/2 and demanded a pull-up assist, which YHC was happy to provide. Regardless, he finished strong.

@49’er LIFO’d which is completely acceptable. Happy to have you out brother.

CMPD monitored our workout, as usual.

YHC was honked at (twice) by drivers. Either my popularity has finally taken hold or my all black clothing was offensive to the morning commuters. I vote for the latter.

YHC is experiencing serious fartsacker’s remorse today after waking up feeling less than 100% and opting for another hour of sleep. The worst part is that I didn’t feel any better after sleeping a little more. I’ll have to keep that in mind the next time I consider reaching for the blue pill (likely later this week).

This looks like a good one. I hope to catch it the next time it comes up in the rotation.

As I was running down Rae Rd. I saw a light coming towards me rather quickly. I thought it was Swiper but turns out it was a bicycle. Probably going about the same speed though.

Simple but brutal. Had to wait on the satellites to connect this AM, so I started a little behind the group. Expected to catch most, but everyone was moving pretty quick on that opening mile plus. I’m a sucker for the number 7 (Biblical), so I tried to go with mini-sets of 7 / 14 /21. That worked well for a while, but by the end, I ended up doing 108 consecutive squats #seemedlikeagoodidea #itwasnot. BTW, I was singing the theme song to Gilligan’s Island when I tweeted about “a 3-mile Murph”.

After reading the plaque adorning the base of the cannon (yep, I stopped to read it and still caught you Talkbox), I was feeling pretty grateful / thankful. Good group this AM. The weather was near perfect. We have the illusion of police protection and what was (verb tense) the cleanest porta-jon I’ve ever entered.

With BRR upon us, next week will be taper-friendly (moreso than today’s 300 squats). It won’t be easy, but should be fairly easy on the legs. After BRR, I expect we will recycle some of the early hits (Sundancer Ln) and start some Mud Run prep.
