Breakfast of Champions for the Men of Asgard

12 men found the corner of the liquor store this morning. Being that it was 0530, the store wasn’t open yet, so this is what we did:

Warmup

  • lap or 2 around the parking lot

COP

  • lots of SSHs
  • even more IWs
  • a couple Merkins
  • 1 or more Mountain Climbers
  • 300ish Squats
  • 20 2-hand KB swings
  • 10 Snatch (each arm)
  • 10 High Pulls (each arm)
  • 10 Lawnmowers (each arm)
  • 20 Goblet Squats
  • 20 Good Mornings

Partner up based on like-sized bell. CMIYC (10 merkin chaser) to first exit from parking lot, up to Hwy 51, down Hwy 51 to soccer field, across field and down the mini-hill. Plankorama until the 6 is in.

Partner hill work: P1 runs hill and performs exercise at top, P2 stays at bottom of hill to perform KB exercise. Flapjack and repeato as necessary to complete called number of KB reps:

  • Round 1: 200 2-hand swings, 10 burpees at top of hill.
  • Round 2: 100 overhead press, 10 jump squats at top of hill
  • Round 3: 100 teabag squats, 10 merkins at top of hill

Mosey to center of soccer field, face goal (line-up abreast), form into teams of three.

  • 3-man sprint grinders (midfield to goal) until time was called.

Mosey back to start.

  • 25 LBCs

COT

Moleskine

  • My laid back demeanor and choice of first couple exercises allowed folks the opportunity to exercise their right to free speech. Mumblechatter was in full effect until we hit the merkins. I enjoyed that, didn’t hear much of it, but it sounded like you guys genuinely enjoyed each other.
  • Sad to report that our friendly neighborhood chauffeur failed to show again. Guess he didn’t like us … or our cars.
  • Freedom continues to beast the workouts, and always with an upbeat demeanor. Only time I saw him sad today was when I told him there wouldn’t be any tire/sledgehammer relay at the end of the workout.
  • Team Gummy Arena dominated the CMIYC. It’s either because they’re sneaky fast or they need to move up in KB weight. Jury’s still out – I’ll ask them as soon as I catch them.
  • Sprint grinders are awesome. Best finishing move out there. 5-10 minutes of suckage.
  • Speaking of awesome, kettlebells and sprints are the breakfast of champions, the meat and potatoes of balanced physical fitness. A51 Tuesday workouts are like superheroes. All of them are different, but all of the are also pretty cool. What you do each Tuesday depends on whether you want to be more like the Flash, Spiderman (Wib/Web – get it?) Saltire (the Scotish superhero – look it up), or Thor. Today, we were men of Asgard.
  • Aside from what I’ve written here, most of the rest of the morning is a fuzzy haze. Fill in with made up stories below…
  • Thanks, Harley, for the opportunity to Q. Always circle these dates on the calendar — gotta keep the bar high and meet expectations!

You might be an idiot if you fartsack and vacation for a couple of weeks and show up at Skunkworks. That sucked but good to be out with the boys again.
I’ll have to let Brown know about the nice bench I found to sit on between doubles and hills. It’s almost as comfortable as TR’s bumper. When I get back to full speed I’m dripping an elbow on the next Q that mixes bells/hills/burpees for 5 ish round…or will continue to modify. Good stuff. Thx for leading.

Dropping an elbow. Dripping wouldn’t make my point

It’s been a while since I posted at Skunkworks. Now I remember why. Brutal. Baracus was my partner on the CMIYC, and yes, our bells were light (at least mine was). But we carried them well.
