Running?!

I offered to take the Q early in the week and talked to CT about my crazy plan and not knowing the time it will take so he said go for it and he will just take what is left…

The Thang

COP
SSH x 20
Imperial Walkers x 20

Enough of this let’s mosey to the stadium!

Count off by 2, 1’s go to close end zone, 2’s to the far end zone.

1’s end zone is 20 merkins, 2’s is 20 LBCs once each set of exercises as a group is complete run to the 50yd line for 10 squats, then run to the opposite end zone to do the exercise for that end zone, i.e. 1’s now do 20 LBCs and 2’s do 20 Merkins.

Wait for all in the group to finish, do plankwork while waiting. Once done run to 50yd line for squats then opposite end zone, this time 19 Merkins/LBCs, etc. continue until 1 of each exercise.

This took almost the entire hour, and with about 5 minutes left CT took over

I caught everyone off guard running, by time we were done with the morning we ran a little over 2 miles, 200+ merkins, 200+ LBCs and 200 squats. Great work by everyone, I am still not a runner as witnessed when I tried to keep up with Glass Joe at one point and felt a pop in my hamstring. I will blame O2 dep for me thinking that was a good thing to try. I did see one of Donut Hole’s 2.0 racing GJ though!

The other surprise of the morning was looking up while in MOM to see Horsehead and Boondock who were waiting for us at the flag until they realized we may not make it back with all the running.

We are working through holiday schedules for Union County workouts so keep your eyes for an email and/or twitter announcements.

Feel free to post any other goodness down in the comments.

Horse showing up was like a sci-fi episode.

Wait? Where did he come from?

I caught Glass Joe talking too much and left his butt (for the one and only time) at the 50 yard line. I made sure I stayed ahead of him too. lol

We laid Mama DT to rest today, I know many of you were there and I didn’t get a chance to see/speak to you. Thank you brothers. I can’t imagine having to go through this past year without you in my life. I know you guys weren’t at the Christmas party, but Hops poem was priceless. The last line was basically something like “It’s great to have brothers to go through the fight with.” or something like that. It’s so true. #ISI

Sent this by email, but wanted to post it here too. The last verse is especially true for me.

Area 51 – Twas the Night Before Christmas

Twas the night before Christmas and all through Charlotte South
not a creature was stirring, not even The Mouth.
The compression socks were flung by the chimney with zeal,
in hopes that Whiplash soon could help heal.

The pax were nestled all snug in their fartsack,
with visions of Semi-Gloss and his big hairy back.
And M. Dora in her FiA shirt, and Dora in his SD25,
had just settled their brains after a Goruck food drive.

When out in the gloom there arose such mumblechatter,
Geraldo sprang from the clowncar to see what was the matter.
Away to the window Runstopper flew like a flash,
tripped over his tights and fell flat on his ass.

The moon on the crest of Grandmother Mountain so old,
gave the lustre of midday to a struggling Stone Cold.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
but an oversized black truck that was chock full of beer.

With a witty young driver talking nothing but smack,
I knew in a moment that it had to be Spack.
More rapid than Rucksters, his compadres they came,
and he hooted and
hollered and called them by name:

“Now Radar! Now Soul Glow!
Now, Champagne and Outback!
On, MallCop! On Bulldog!
On, Simba! On Brushback!
To the top of
Murderhorn!
At Rebel Yell and The Maul!
Now burpees! More burpees!
A hundred burpees for all!
As dry docks that before the KB swings fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, the pax sure does cry
So up the steep parking deck the compadres they flew
With Haggis & Dolphin now leading the crew

And then, in a twinkling, near the dear shovel flag
I heard the huffing and pawing of our nantan Tiger Rag
As I
drew in my head and was turning around
Down the parking ramp Bananas came with a bound

He was dressed all in black, from his shoes to his crown,
And he came with Good Hands and Busch and with Brown.
A bundle of toys he had flung on his back,
and he looked like the Hoff just opening his ruck sack.

Now the mighty Q’s eyes – how they watered! His pits, how sweaty!
His hands were not gloved but his breathing was heavy!
His mumblechattering mouth seemed to never stop moving
And the music from his mini-van certainly was grooving

He was funny & outspoken, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed as I followed him, in spite of myself.
The
camouflage pants and a twist of his head
soon gave me to know that this was the legend named Dredd.

He spoke many words as he dished out the pain
Some spilled merlot; most just felt the strain
Calling the pax to the Circle of Trust
First a
couple of fist bumps then bow the heads, we must

The pax sprang to their 4-wheel sleighs, to their brothers gave a greeting
And away they all drove having endured the beating
But I heard one exclaim, ‘ere he drove out of sight,
“I’m thankful to have brothers to go through the fight.”

HB that was a Great Workout Brother! Funny how the so self entitled “non-runner” continues to Q longer and longer running workouts each time he leads! Pretty soon we will be F3 Fast-Land running a hour of HB Miles!! Donut Hole’s 2.0’s are little machines! Crazy Train was sprinting the 50 yards between each exercise! Excellent push by a 2.0 to keep us working hard!
Also HB, 210 Merkins, 210 LBC’s and 400 squats (2 sets of 10 squats between each countdown). And our group had some serious cadence issues when stopping on an odd number #usuallyroundedupforbonus! DT, you know we are here for you if you need anything!
