Neapolitan ice cream is highly under rated. Instead of a single flavor, you get to enjoy three delicious types of ice cream that can be mixed in many different ways. It is also sold in large buckets. Half the fun is how you decide to serve it.
- Straight Chocolate – right to the point, hard to argue with this
- Straight Vanilla – purity, or unimaginative? – you decide
- Straight Strawberry – feeling fruity?
- Chocolate Vanilla – a beautiful pairing of opposites – my personal favorite
- Chocolate Strawberry – little strange for my tastes, but some enjoy the frozen fondue experience
- Vanilla Strawberry – a delicious harmony of flavors
- Chocolate Vanilla Strawberry – the lazy mans scoop – might as well eat it directly from the bucket
Sorry, needed to get that out.
Anyway, there were 10 at the workout this morning. EE, Kiefer, myself, and Boondock posted for some preliminary running of various distances. It was delightful – probably should have gone home after that.
Thang:
EE led the first half of the workout.
- Run around parking lot and buses for a bit – possibly so he could plan the workout. This included a round of highly questionable parkour-style moves through the brick knee-walls near diesel alley.
- COP with various exercise suggestions for the pax, along with demonstrations. Some pax cooperated with this.
- Stupid hairburners with 5 man teams – around the whole flipping parking lot
- Merkin death crawl with 3 merkins at each parking space – like 10000000 merkins, give or take
- Stupid hairburner thing again
- Burpee broad jumps across entire parking lot (sucky mc suck face)
Group mosey to the practice field – approx 150yds long
Horsehead Q 2nd half:
Some flutters to wait on the six
- Partner up
- P1 Perfect Merkins
- P2 runs field and back
- Flapjack
- P1 Alternate 10 Perfect Merkins and Bicycles
- P2 runs field and back
- Flapjack
- P1 lunges down field
- P2 runs field and back until they meet P1
- Keep switching until entire field is covered
Line up for 150yd gassers.
Three or four of these, I think I blacked out at some point. Last sprint directed towards the soccer goal. Tulip won. He is 29.
Belly start, AYG up the hill. Tulip won. He is 29.
Mary to close out – let Kiefer and Tulip lead some flutters and LBCs since they have not Qd boot camp workouts yet. Goal is to get some new men leading workouts soon. If you can do it, you can Q it.
Moleskin:
- Hairburners to start off a workout will gum up the legs a bit, especially with those stupid Golds Gym sticky plates that EE has. Rumor is that he robbed an elderly women (possibly the same one who mows his lawn) of an entire set of Olympic weights last week and will be bringing even more gear out in the future. That’s just rumors though.
- I think the Count died 2 or 3 times during the field sprints. They were a bit longer than I had expected, and did suck. Way to push it though.
- Speaking of dying during the sprints, I’m glad that nobody got between Kiefer and the end zone because big man looked like a crazy Minnesota freight train with a rotting cargo of Lutefisk coming down that field. He likes to tiptoe during his long runs, but was moving it out on the sprints.
- Glad to have Tulip keep coming out to join us. Looks like he started out F3 already in pretty good shape, and he’s cruising right through the workouts.
- The title of the BB comes from the time that OBT came out to Outland in order to promote the F3 Nation celebration party. Legend holds that he jogged out into the middle of the in-progress workout and started trash talking a certain bearded country boy, who nearly opened up a can of whoop a$$ on him. Something about “signs of weakness”. I wasn’t there, but I’m sure it was amazing. For future reference, Union County workouts are generally not Prius friendly.
- I really smoked myself out there today. It’s been a while since I have gone all out at a workout and it hurt so good. I think I had a little Q-Drenaline going for me as well. That’ll leave a mark.
- This is my 3 year anniversary of posting F3. It’s been a heck of a ride. I’ve made some good friends, strengthened some existing friendships, improved my relationship with my kids, and completed some activities that I would have never thought possible 4 years ago. Mind you, this is while I have also managed to endure every single injury featured in Runners World or the glossy pamphlets in the Orthocarolina lobby. If you’ve seen Unbreakable, then I’m Mr. Glass (minus the terrorism). If you see me at an upcoming workout, I will give you a hug at your request. Just don’t squeeze too hard or I may sprain something.
- Speaking of hugs, make sure to hug your 2.0s today. Mine has been my posting buddy for the past three years, rain or shine, hot or cold. He even endures the pre runs and other such nonsense we dream up. Today, he was riding his scooter around while we ran and darted out in front of a pretty fast moving car. I saw it unfold in slow motion, helpless. Nobody got hit or hurt, but it shook both of us up a bit. We said a prayer of thanks and kept rolling, but it reminded me that we need to be grateful for the relationships we have with our friends and family. Don’t take anything for granted brothers.
