St. Valentine’s Freak Show at Outland. Is it still Friday the 13th?

2 Shovel Flags were planted through the not-so-permafrost (yes…2 SFs), and then we jogged back 1/4 mile to the launch point from the SF plant location…what in the world Horsehead?  That was just one of a handful of random happenings at #F3Outland.

As the pax was mustering before the launch, Electric Slide puts on some freakish facemask that’s a skull mask…..what the heck?!  Random…and a bit unsettling.

Shortly after we launch, we see some dude running towards the pax wearing a giant snowman’s head.  Freak show.  Random.  Outland.   Turns out to be Snowman himself who apparently played some sort of creepy snowman in some winter/Christmas pageant.  He would pull off the monstrosity before COP.

The Thang:

Horsehead’s Q:

Ye Olde Moleskine:

YHC got there a bit early to scout out the terrain as it was my maiden voyage to Outland.  Absolutely outstanding AO, by the way – 4 schools all connected, and we didn’t even venture over to the football stadium stairs, obstacle course and many other painful opportunities.

One of the pax was there before me, and as I pulled in Drop Thrill was moseying back from a prerun.  T-claps to DT, Horsehead, Glass Joe and EE? for the prerun.

YHC really was wondering what in the world Horsehead had invited me to with Electric Slide’s facemask, Snowman’s 1/2 costume.  Somewhat poetic that Snowman forgot his gloves…apparently was no room in the trunk with the Michelin Man headdress in there.  CT was nice enough to run back to his car to get extra pair of gloves.  It started out as a Freak Show, but methinks we delivered a good bit of pain.  Horsehead’s 11’s to start with Burpees and running across the field (50 yds or so?) was an early kick to the junk; but the pax pressed on.

The vertically challenged pax couldn’t quite do the plank walk on the handrail…sorry guys.  CT said there were other narrower handrails on campus, but I was set on getting on to the bus stop with the 15-20 brick walls – best setup for jump ups/Derkins that I’ve come across in all of F3.  #toogoodtobetrue  Glass Joe rightly guessed that was the main reason for the smile on YHC’s face after returning from the recon mission prior to launch.

Great comraderie at Outland.  Grateful for the invite to Q and enjoyed the 3rd F The Grindstone afterward as well – 10 posted for that.

Sound off below with other random, freakish happenings from today’s St. Valentine’s Freak Show at Outland.

Great job Hops/HH. I am still feeling it. Glad we could have you out Hops. It’s a great AO! I’ve said it before but SV is the F3 equivalent of the Island of Misfit Toys. Middle of nowhere and the characters are a little strange but really friendly. Come back anytime!!!

You did have to Google those names, right? Course, it is Outland so remembering random names like that would fit the mold.

Thanks for coming out Hops – that was a blast. That was maybe a notch or so up the weird ladder from normal . . . maybe. Nothing really surprises me anymore, except the giant snowman head.

After Devils Turn, Qing Kevlar, and the pre run, I was about done before we started. Took most of my juice to finish those 11s on the longer-than-I-had-remembered field.

Unfortunately, I think I may have done something to reactivate my shoulder injury this morning. I am in quite a bit of pain, so please pray that is isn’t serious.

HH, no Bueno my friend! Will definitely be lifting you up in prayer (and try to lift up you guys in prayer anyways though my ambition is often better than my execution)

Hops, sorry I missed you venturing out to the Outland although pretty sure I would have been one of the vertically challenged on the railslides.

While things can get strange and goofy sounds like this was off the charts.

Kotters to Snowman and glad Smokey is plugging in.

Horse, praying for you brother.

Hops, awesome having you out yesterday!

Four workouts though in one week and a double down yesterday seriously had me smoked by The Wall. Donkey Kicks were really tough for me too.

Horse prayers up from me as well. Get better brother.

Always honored to be in the company of such great athletes and great men and great brothers.

Until next time.

Hops, I’ll echo the “thanks for coming to Outland” sentiments of the others. It’s always great to see you. It was a solid beatdown and good times. The stars must have aligned you this valentines day. Our normal eccentricities are typically revealed by the unique “weird” pain stations and stimulating conversation. The freakish attire was either a lucky pull on your part or… could’ve have been inspired by the “harts and cupid” boxers we were all wearing Saturday in honor of one of our most celebrated holidays. #hallmarkhasusbythegoldemcnuggets

By stimulating conversation, you mean discussing why I hate Keurig machines and you guys trying to convince me that it’s a lost cause and to just give in. My budget and my self-esteem is happy that I did not listen to all of you.

Hops, Welcome to the Freak Show…..LOL! Thanks for the great Q. This was my first beatdown in awhile and I had been waiting to break out the facemask. It served as a nice O2 dep for me. As long as it stays chilly out, the SKULL will make an appearance.

I missed you all and give me just a little more time and I would like to Q.

Wait! ES hasn’t Q’d yet? How in the world has this escaped us? It’s time to make that happen.

Unless I am mixing up conversations I talked to ES a while ago about it and I don’t think he has Q’ed.
