DATE: 2023-02-11 AO: Davinci Q: tuck PAX: Kaboom, Palmolive, das_boot, Luke Crabwalker, C3P0, OMNICRON, Curtsy FNGs: 1 Curtsy COUNT: 8 8 pax, including 1 FNG, met a dog and hung out underneath Tom Short Rd.
THE THANG: Mosey East on Ardrey Kell, through the Fountains shopping center, South on Tom Short Rd, ending at underpass under Tom Short near Longview country club. On the way, stop at 3 side streets on AK, at the Fountains, and at 3 side streets on Tom Short for exercises. At stop 1, YHC asked pax 1 to call an exercise. At stop 2, pax 2 called an exercise and then we also did pax 1’s exercise. At stop 3, pax 3 called an exercise, followed by pax 2’s exercise and then pax 1’s exercise. And so on, all the way to the 7th stop. After that we ran a short distance to our final destination which was the Tom Short underpass, where we did a curls, OHP and goblet squats with some lifting rocks. We then departed for home, stopping at the same 7 places and building a new exercise pyramid from scratch.
MOLESKINE – Chicken Run pulled a few da Vinci regulars since we are only 1 week out from a handful of the pax racing at Oak Island, but we still has a strong group of 8. – Midriff had invited an FNG to da Vinci whom he had never actually met in person. Little did Midriff know that when he arrived at 6AM for Chicken Run, the FNG was sitting in the parking lot already, having arrived more than 30 minutes early for da Vinci. Midriff noticed this unfamiliar chap waiting but didn’t say anything since he didn’t recognize him and wasn’t expecting his FNG to arrive so early. Classic case of pax invites FNG, FNG actually shows up, pax ignores FNG, pax goes to a completely different workout. Despite the rocky start, the FNG thrived and was very engaging. – You never know what to expect out there in the gloom. Case in point, we were on one of the side streets off of AK, performing an exercise on the ground, when a dog casually strolled into the middle of our circle to investigate. One can only assume she was intrigued by the strange noises, motions and smells. After a brief few moments of sniffing (by her) and panting (by us) we parted ways. Her name is Mona Lisa and she is a good girl. – The main goal of this Q was to get the pax into Longview country club, which the runners have done many times but not the bootcampers. Due to time constraints we only made it to the underpass underneath Tom Short. With fewer exercises getting deeper into Longview is definitely achievable. – Got ’em back 3 minutes late, which is unlike me but the OCD part of my brain kicked in and we needed to hit all the stops on the way back come hell or high water. – Midriff earned himself a new pair of da Vinci socks by brining an FNG, but gave them up to the FNG himself in an act of selflessness and hospitality. Or maybe it was because he was trying to make up for ghosting said FNG before the workout. – Welcome FNG Curtsy. He landed that name because the exercise he called when it was his turn was the curtsy lunge. Curtsy is a co-worker of Midriff’s and was in town for work and to investigate possibly relocating to Charlotte. We hope that he does! Curtsy seems like a #HIM with a bright future and would be a great addition to our ranks.
