A Great workout with GREAT guys!

Warm up in lower lot with reverse lap.
SSHx25, Merkins x 15, 5 burpees
Mosey to Frisbee golf course-LBCsx25, next hole, merkins x 25, next hole, (something else)
Meet at the top of the blacktop for 10 burpees

Mosey to playground for sets: One partner sits on wall while other partner does 10 pull ups, then Toes to bah x 10, then knee ups x10 (3 sets).

Move to other wall with partner BTW while partner B does called exercise until complete team total, 200 LBCs, Merkins x 100, and laps around the track in between sets.

Mosey to lower field for two laps between light poles (4 stations) with LBCs, Peter Parker, Freddie Mercury, Heels to Heaven.

Leave the Bag, Take the Cannoli

I made the mistake of signing up to Q the day after the opening round of the NCAA tournament. Bad move on my part. I warned the crew that I may be showing up a little “under the weather” aka hungover, and I didn’t disappoint. I had no clue what I was going to do until I turned on to Rea Rd. I pulled in the parking lot hot, and he is what went down.

The Thang:
Mosey around Chick Fil A to parking lot of apartments and then come back to the BB&T parking lot.

Follow me to my truck and form teams of 3. Grab a nice, light, soft, fluffy sand bag and listen up. As a team carry the sandbag to the playground down Blakeney Heath Rd. Once we had the whole crew there, more fun ensued.

Partner 1 run down to the entrance for the Montessori school. Partner 2 tricep extensions with the bag, Partner 3 pullups. Keep going to each Partner gets there 30 pullups for the day.

Second round. P1 run, P2 curls, P3 merkins. Run until each team hits 300 merkins.

Once done, let’s head back to the launch point. Oh wait, we had too much time left so let’s use the short wall at the water fountain. P1 run to median, P2 dips, P3 more merkins.

Now, let’s head back to start. Over to the side lot for a little Mary.

Moleskin: I had a few goals for today. First, try to knock out the exercises for the Merkin/Pull up Challenge. Welcome to the challenge Commish. Second, make everyone mad by making them run with something heavy. This was only my 3rd post at DaVinci so I was sure if there were rocks, so I brought my own sandbags. Thanks for the bags Faultline. Third, sweat out the alcohol and try not to puke. I think we accomplished it all. Paper Jam was trying to redirect me to the other playground, but I didn’t fall for it. Good try though. Heartbreaker apparently can’t read entrance signs too good so we might need to get him glasses. Might Mite needs to carry two sandbags next time. Bucky makes a really good target for hit and run practice with his festive jacket. Chopper brought our a FNG, Ron aka Cockie. One day El Gaupo will be used, but thanks to Paper Jam not yet. Thanks for letting me lead Tuck. And props for the socks. I can’t wait to wear them.

Timex with Indigloo is Still Kicking

Last night I was getting my kids ready for bed when I happened to look at the F3 schedule for workouts today. And what do you know, PopTart was on Q at DV. And then 5 minutes later I get a DM from Dollywood to remind me. Oh crap, what should I plan for the workout? Oh yeah, I will just copy Lobsta Roll from the Matrix on Monday. Besides, I was doing research to build the fastest, most badass Pinewood Derby car for my son’s cub scouts last night and I can’t multi task. Pax came out of their cars, and my classic 1992 Timex with Indigloo light struck 5:30 so we were off.

Mosey around the track and back to parking lot.

Partner up, and grab a Lifting/Running Rock per team (Busch)

Mosey towards other end of school for another warm-up.
20 x IW for the old guys (Van Pelt, where you at?)

Then, CMIYC down 51 to the entrance of Davie Park. Partner 1 runs, Partner 2 does 10 hand release merkins. Plank to wait on the six.

Mosey down to the playground. Each team perform the combined number of called exercises, while one partner runs parking lot, including to the gate.

300 x Curls

Then, CMIYC back to the starting point. Deep Dish started some Mary while the six caught up.

Moleskin:
I apologize to WD, Squid, Huggie, Rusted and OW for a very similar workout from Monday. However, if there isn’t a backblast, it didn’t happen. And, I did mix it up with carrying a rock and tricep extensions. Since I found out last minute I was on Q today, I wasn’t sure if Davie park had good lifting rocks which is why we carried one with us. Puddin Pop was very disappointed in my reconnaissance work, or lack there of. I blamed Google Earth since it didn’t zoom in far enough for me to check it out. Busch had too much wax in his ears and didn’t hear me say lifting/running rock, so he picked the biggest rock he could find. Next time I will make sure everyone hears the disclaimer, or will I? WD was complaining about repeating a workout since his bi-ceps were still sore, but at least he will have some nice looking biceps when he is wearing those tank tops this summer. OW must be getting old or Smokey is getting younger as Smokey almost ran OW down on one of the laps, but then he let OW win. That was nice of you. This was Rusted’s second Area 51 workout, and his first was the Matrix Monday. I promise there is usually more variety. Thanks for letting me lead Dollywood and Smokey.

The pax gathered in the parking lot while I was still trying to figure out what the workout was going to be. I had been on the road the day before but never decided on my final plan. Surprisingly OT was one of the first ones there. Mosey around the back parking lot and back up to the front for our warm-up. Pick up Joker on the way back.

The Thang:
Partner up and CMIYC down McKee towards the townhomes with the water fountain. P1 5 x hand release merkins, P2 run. Meet up at the fountain. 7’s down to bottom of hill. Hand release merkins at both ends. Once we are done, 40 dips at the fountain, then run around traffic circle. Repeat 3 times. CMIYC back to the rock pile past the school. P1 diamond merkins, P2 run. Everyone grab a lifting rock, especially O’T.

Line up abreast on the filed. 20 x curls, 20 x tricep extensions, 40 x chest presses, then run to the light pole and back. Total of 3 times.

Mosey back to parking lot at the playground for some abs.
Cross crunches, can openers, dollie, LBCs, 6 inches, and some other stuff I am forgetting. Throw in 5 pull ups 3 times for Joker. The end.

Moleskin:
Lobsta Roll was surprised to hear that they have reopened an investigation into Tom Brady for deflating the football again in the second half of the Superbowl. Something shady went on during that game and the truth will come out. Later he and Squid were complaining about their recent work trip where they only had 9 oz filet mignon in first class and not the 12 oz filet. Poor guys. O’T finally showed off with a real lifting rock, and Joker wanted to show off his lats with some pull up work. When the Pax asks, they shall receive. I hope the workout was tough enough especially when I made most of it up as a went. Thanks for the takeout Squid.

• 13 men chose to not sleep in on MLK Day, and started the week right with a down-payment of burpees and other fun stuff.

The Thang:
After a quick and sort-of thorough disclaimer, we completed a long mosey around the school grounds and settled into COP at the parking lot below the launch site.

10 Incline Merkins on the curb, Lung Walk to the middle of the lot, 4 burpees. Lung Walk the remaining half, 10 Incline Merkins on the other side. Rinse and repeat on the return trip
Round 3:
10 CDDs, Bear Crawl to the middle of the lot, 3 burpees. Bear Crawl the remaining half, 10 CDDs on the other side. Rinse and repeat on the return trip
Round 4:
10 CDDs, “Gorillaz” to the middle of the lot, 1 burpee. “Gorillaz” for the remaining half, 10 CDDs on the other side. Rinse and repeat on the return trip

Mosey to the school for some People’s Chair and more burpees.
Hold the chair position while 1 at a time, the PAX stepped out and completed 5 burpees each.

Moleskin:
Not sure what the PAX expected with the “duck” workout tweet courtesy of Poptart, but YHC was glad to see the regulars for my VQ at The Matrix. Not a lot of chatter this AM and the PAX was on it from the start. Tclaps to Paper Jam who rolled right in from his pre-run and didn’t miss a beat. Lots of hard work out there today by all with the usual crew of Header, Smokey, Joker and Chin Music up front. By far the crowd pleaser was the “Gorillaz” and Turkey Leg was even fast on those!. YHC heard the PAX yell something about being banning from YouTube to find such torture but alas that is not YHC’s creation. The M’s trainer gets credit for that abusive walk on all fours.
The People’s Burpee Chair was also a hit. Joker demonstrated some mad hops on his 5 burpees and the form police were definitely out for that called exercise. The PAX messed up and demonstrated that good form and high jumps is attainable in the gloom. No one disappointed there either. Some mumble chatter about the gassers and burpees at the end but YHC had to chew up the remaining few minutes without working any more shoulders into the mix. Welcome to FNG Bookie. Great job out there today and don’t let the Gorillaz, or any Draft Kings action keep you from posting again. Thanks to Poptart and Squid for the opportunity. Thanks to Squid for the solid take-out. Thanks to the entire PAX for pushing YHC this AM.

Rotary Merkin Ladder

I couldn’t think of anything creative for today, so instead I went with the old merkin workout with some running. Or is it some running with a merkin workout? Boys were gathering as the rain slowed down, and off we went over to the front of Smoke. (and Mic Check tried to take me out)

Partner up, length matters. Well maybe not, but I certainly confused a couple guys.

Catch me if you can down to the shopping center entrance in front of St Matthews Catholic Church. Partner 1 5 x diamond merkin, Part 2 run.

Head across Ballantyne Commons over in front of the church. Rotary Merkin Ladder works like a rotary phone. You run to the first speedhump, 20 merkins. Back to the beginning. Run to the second speedhump, 20 merkins. Back to the beginning. Repeat all the way around for 200 merkins.

Half the group Indian run back to cars, other half get the six and Indian run back.

Moleskin:
This is Goonie’s favorite workout, so I did it mostly for him. He really likes to run so why not. I wasn’t sure how long and far this would take us, but we got close to 4.5 miles. Great work guys. Sorry for lack of creativity, but work has been a bitch, and it has wasted all my brain cells. Or maybe it was the drinking over the holidays. Squid, Goonie, Cold Cuts and I think Rebard were up front pushing hard the whole was as usual. Marlin was kicking ass as well and was close to catching Cold Cuts who is half his age. Nice Work Marlin. I saw a lot of guys who hate running, i.e. Loogie, Commish, Chipotle, getting at it the whole time, but I am not sure if the look on their face was out of pain from the workout, or deep seeded evil thoughts about how pissed they were at me. Hopefully the former. I enjoyed being able to keep the Pax close together as we went back and forth because I heard a lot of encouragement between all the guys. Motivation goes a long way.

I wasn’t sure how I was going to run the workout since it stormed for two days, and kept raining during the workout. I got there 20 minutes early with Squid and saw the pond out in the field. Unless everyone brought their scuba gear or a boat, there wasn’t much we could do out there. I had to come up with something quick, which I am not good at. Everyone got out of their cars right before 7 and off we went. Mosey around back parking lot then head to the front lot for our warm-up.

The Thang:
Head over to the rock pile to get a lifting rock, then back to the start of the park entrance parking lot. Partner up.

Round 1: Partner 1 bear crawls length of cars then runs lap around back lot and bear crawls length of cars on the way back. Partner 2 performs curls. Flapjack.
Round 2: Partner 1 does the same as above, while Partner 2 performs over head press. Flapjack.
Round 3: Partner 1 lunge walks length of cars both ways, runs lap. Partner 2 chest press.
Round 4: Same as Round 3.

Mosey over the the playground for a circuit. 5 pull-ups, 20 derkins, 30 tricep extensions, and run a lap. 3 times.

Circle up for Mary. Each Pax call an exercise. We had can opener, LBCs, flutter, rosalita, parker peter parker parker, dolly, etc.

Take rocks back and time.

Moleskin: I wasn’t sure how many Pax would post, but apparently there were only 10 brave men. Either the rain, or the New Years hangover kept them away. I had a play list based on celebrities that passed away in 2016. Star Wars them song, some George Michael songs, Merle Haggard, David Bowie, and Horsehead’s favorite, Cover album by Prince’s cousin Steve downloaded with a breakfast cereal scratch off code. I was limited to what I could find on Amazon Prime, but HH knew immediately. Either way, we had fun in the pouring down rain. We had an FNG, John aka The Bandit come out. He was in town from Raleigh, and even made it out. He was invited by Smokey, who fartsacked. How rude.

Depressing 12 Days of Christmas

I made it to the parking lot close to 10 minutes early somehow and got my poster board, i-pad and speaker out for the workout and waited on the Pax. At first Squid was the only one in the parking lot and I thought we would be cancelling the workout and just going to get our weekly Dilworth coffee. Then the rest of the crew showed up, and we were off.

Mosey around the back parking lot and back to the cars for warm-up:

The Thang:
Mosey over to the rock pile and grab the biggest lifting rock you can handle, and head back to the cars. I got my tools out with the poster board, timer on the i-pad and Christmas music going on the speaker and we did the 12 days of Christmas below. After each exercise, run a lap in the parking lot.

Moleskin: For the first time every Lobsta Roll was late to the workout. We started off on the warm up as he was still pulling into the parking lot. And I think Squid fell asleep on the asphalt because he was still laying there when we took off. LR tried to blame me for starting to early, but I doubt my 12 year old Timex has the wrong time. I tried a new warm-up, the Chinook, and it was totally a Q fail. Then there was a lot of mumblechatter when we got the lifting rocks because the guys couldn’t handle running 150 yards with the rocks. They were very confused. And once we got started on the 12 days, Ocho started getting depressed from the Christmas channel I selected so we had to switch stations so he and LR didn’t got home depressed and start crying over Christmas. It seemed everyone was in a better mood once I found the upbeat channel. Great work out there by everyone. It was nice to stay together as a Pax the whole time. I enjoyed the workout and Merry Christmas everyone! Thanks for the take out Ocho.

Burpees Don’t Impress Us!

It was a chilly and damp morning for 9 men to show up and work like they’ve never worked before. It all started with a bit of a warm-up.
– Quick little jog around the lower parking lot
– Circled up for some Side-Straddle-Hops, Imperial Walkers (I guess Mcgee heard burpees), and Merkins

Once Mcgee was done trying to impress us with all his burpees we headed over the field for a five point “star”.
– Starting at the middle light post we ran out to the individual light post surrounding the field and back to the original starting light post. At each light post was 10 of a called exercise. After completing the called exercise, we ran back to the original light post for 3 burpees (for my boy Mcgee) before heading out to the nest light post.
Round 1: 1) Merkins 2) Squats 3) LBC 4) Lunges 5) Carolina Dry Docks
Round 2: 1) Diamond Merkins 2) Jump Squats 3) Flutter 4) Sumo Squats 5) Wide-arm Merkins

After that we headed over to the track for a little something new. We did an Indian run but with a twist. Instead of the person in the back running to the front of the line, the person in the front of the line had to run around the track to try to catch up with the end of the line. This was not for the faint of heart and there was no judgment on those that cut across the field to catch the end of the line.

Once everyone had a chance to catch the line we went over to the playground. We got into groups of two, one person did a called exercise while the other ran around the island and back. Flap-jacked and continued for 2 or 3 rounds each exercise.
Round 1: 10 pull-ups and plank until partner came back
Round 2: Tri-dips until partner came back
Round 3: Derkins until partner came back

After the three rounds we had just enough time for some Mary to close things out.
