The air was crisp, the ground was wet with dew and a bakers dozen PAX defied the urge to sleep in and got better, stronger, sandier!
The Thang:
After being disclaimed, we took on a brief recon mission to rescue one missing PAX from his “search” then circled up for COP.
12 Adventurous studs rolled into Catholic for another edition of Centurion. This week YHC had a little field trip planned that went a little something like this:
Disclaimer and grab my phone!
Mosey to front of school and cut through back of Chipotle parking lot (watch out for that puddle…doh). Continue on the sidewalk along 51, cross over Johnston Rd and take a hard right onto McMullen Creek Pkwy. This is where YHC expected to lose some PAX to the sweet smells of the Waffle House but they heeded the temptation!
Place phone on top of leasing sign (Instruct PAX to remind me to pick it back up…) then circle up on this perfect square of grass for COP:
Partner up for some circuit work utilizing the 5 boulders at the far corner.
Time for some rock/strength work:
Grab a rock from the pile behind us (Q fail #3…most of the rocks required some excavating but not next time) *Civilian Cadence.
Return rocks and mosey through Lowes parking lot to hill entrance at farthest point from the store for Triple Nickel:
5 Merkins at bottom, 5 LBS’s at the top, repeat 5 times (Wheres my phone…?! Q fail #4, sorta).
Return to launch with just enough time for a little Mary: Dollies & Flutters x 15 IC.
Moleskine:
Icky Shuffle and I drove through this area on Wednesday on our way home from Anvil and identified the site of this week’s Centurion Field Trip – hope everyone enjoyed it and hope to visit again.
Q fails happen (a lot today apparently) In my defense, I did ask the PAX to remind me to grab my phone…Thanks guys!
The Triple Nickel was fueled by the sweet smell of bacon cooking at the Waffle House. Yum!
Shout out to Margo, Scabby and Mario for running to/from the workout!
Ghost Runner – Thursday nights, 7:30 Arboretum ABC Store. 4 & 6 mile options (Or run 5 with Radar)
The Bear in MECA is coming up at Highland Creek Elementary. Post if you dare!
Thanks to Chelms for the opportunity to lead Centurion Aye!

We did several sets while running the length of the field in between:

Once the PAX was sufficiently swole we returned our bricks to MC’s car for Ball of Man.
Moleskine: MC and I exchanged a few messages before our scheduled Q to try and give the PAX a full body smoker. If I’m any indication, it worked.
YHC was a little gassed during the starfish and called on Radar for a 10 count (he was there in spirit). Might Might…er um…THE Might Might was in front all morning…must be nice to be so young! Filmont never fails to keep the PAX laughing – thanks brother!
As always, it was a pleasure Q’ing Day Zero – Thanks to Prohibition and Hairball for the opportunity.
Aye!
11 of Area 51's finest toed the line this morning for a little tribute to Coach Dean Smith. YCH and his trusty sidekick (THE BEARD) arrived a few minutes early to lay out the court with a little help (Thanks Icky Shuffle!). As PAX rolled in, Mermaid tried to assign War Daddy status to Purple Haze but must have forgot Abacus was in attendance. All were eventually trumped by Iron Horse! The Thang: We set off on our adventure for the day with a brisk mosey mixing in some backward runs and karaokes finishing in the large lot behind Calvary. COP SSH x 25 IW x 25 Crab cake x 20 (a new one for Anvil - seemed to be a crowd pleaser) Count off 1,2,1,2...remember your # Mosey to front lot on 51 for Four Corners (our Ode to Coach Dean Smith): Two groups Divided and marked with cones in the corners (2 areas) Approx 40yds corner to corner *** run between corners except animal set First set: 1's 1 - jump squats x 20 2 - lunges x 20(10/leg) 3 - Peter Parkers x 20(10/leg) 4 - Parker Peters x 20(10/leg) 2's 1 - merkins x 20 2 - wide arm merkins x 20 3 - diamonds x 20 4 - carolina dry docks x 20 FLAPJACK Second set 1's 1 - LBC x 20 2 - CCV x 20(10/side) Hops would be proud! 3 - flutter kicks x 20 4 - russian twist x 20 2's 1 - bear crawl from c1-c2, 5 burpees 2 - crab walk from c2-c3, 5 burpees 3 - frog jump from c3-c4, 5burpees 4 - dragon walk from c4-c1, 5 burpees FLAPJACK Half Time: Both groups - Defensive shuffle to Corner 1 - Spring to Corner 2 - Defensive shuffle to Corner 3 - Backwards run to Corner 4 Both Groups then repeated all but the ANIMAL set (OUCH!!!). Moleskine: I think we can all appreciate the 4 Corners a little more after today's workout! Mumble chatter was on and off today - must be the weather or the O2 deprivation. The tweets came alive later in the morning once everyone cought their breath. YHC did sense a little "beard envy"...It's hard work! As always, it was a pleasure to lead such a solid group at Anvil. Drop Thrill - getting strong brother! PAX, Sound off in comments for announcements (technology fail for YHC) AYE!
YHC wasn’t sure what to expect with the rainy weather this morning. Thankfully, 22 brave Area 51 PAX joined me for some midweek Anvil down-painment!

Despite the rain, turnout was excellent and every brother pushed it hard today in an attempt to soak up as much water as we could from the Calvary campus. My weinke called for more hand release merkins in COP but I decided to change it up a bit due to the groans after the first 10…don’t worry, we still got plenty wet out there and the rain even let up for COT.
The Beast never fails to deliver – especially on a brisk rainy morning.
Thanks to all for braving the soggy weather and doing some exercises with YHC this morning. It’s always a pleasure to lead the Anvil PAX.
Welcome FNG Suarez (Rich R.).
Thanks to Mr. Brady for taking us out!
Announcements:
