Stuck in the Sand for the Last Time

Stuck in the Sand for the Last Time

Date: 2024-10-19 AO: olympus Q: Krzyzewski PAX: voodoo, The Worm, MARTA, Mountain Momma, high_tide, flipper, Wabbit, madison FNGs: None COUNT: 9 A Who’s Who of modern gear legends came out to put the last tab of Bells & Bags in the rearview. Solid pump today that was anchored by some heavy partner bag work. Not gonna lie, YHC was finally getting the hang of counter-rotational reverse lunges so it’s sad to see that one retired for the foreseeable future. Separately, while the pax humored YHC by selecting the “mystery playlist”, the audible groans produced by realization of the dumb theme was probably YHC’s highlight of the day. As a bonus, the next Bells & Bags program will now likely have an exercise called ‘Bombs over Baghdad’. Finally, as High Tide remarked, it’s odd to start a workout with fewer people than when you end (usually code brown is the reason for the opposite dynamic), but sure enough, we were lucky enough to have Madison join us for bags and carries. Overall, a challenging and cold morning that led to some good gains, enjoyable mumblechatter, and a random sandbag ruck towards the end. Let’s get into the recap… WARMUP: Swings (10x), prying squats, hi-pulls (5x e/s), synovial circles, slingshots (7x e/w) THE THANG: 1) Kettlebell Things (3 sets of each) – A: Double cleans (10x) – B: Alternating swings (20x) – C: Alternating snatches (5x e/s) 2) Sandbag Things – Partner Work – Hanging clean & press (10x) (3 sets) – Counter-rotational reverse lunge (7x e/s) (3 sets) – Up & up (5x) (5 sets) – Note: Pax partnered up and in the off-time did either 10x-15x merkins or 10x swings 3) Multiple Sandbag and KB Carries MARY: Enough time for a 45 sec. glutebridge ANNOUNCEMENTS: – Oddly quiet for this time of year…trail run next weekend? – Call your mom this weekend and smile more – Join us next week as Voodoo takes the lead, dusts off Frank the Tank, and brings the heavy bells for a variety of gain-inducing pain COT: Cheese Curd took out the joint groups in the COT
