Russian Roulette

The shovel flag was firmly planted and 17 men did the right thing early on Saturday to get stronger.  Flipper, who YHC had never met and who did not know that YHC was the Q, mentioned at the start that he came to the Rock to avoid RS Q at Day Zero – #Firewood.   The Rock is a great AO and we covered over 3 miles without leaving the church grounds.

The Thang:

Jog around the parking lot with 5 burpees at each road bump (20 total).

COP – Warm up

  • SSH x17 with each member of the PAX calling out their F3 name in order (lots of Q heckling – more #firewood)
  • Jumping lunges X15
  • Mountain climbers X20

Jog to rock pile, grab non-running rock, and mosey over to parking lot for some circuit work.   Perform called exercise with rock, “gently” place rock on the ground, sprint to other end of lot and plank for the six.   Hold six inches and then sprint back to rocks.   7 rounds

  • 10 curls
  • 10 curls, 10 overhead presses
  • 10 curls, 10 overhead presses, 10 squats
  • 10 curls, 10 overhead presses, 10 squats, 10 lateral extensions
  • 10 lateral extensions, 10 squats, 10 overhead presses
  • 10 lateral extensions, 10 squats
  • 10 lateral extensions

Mosey across parking lot for a little Mary (lots of heckling about Q form – more #firewood) – Rosalita and Dolly (pax already sensing where we are heading and try to divert the Q)

Mosey to base of North Face for Bermuda Triangle – perform 2 of called exercise at each station and increase by 2 each round.  Run up North Face – burpees, run to corner – merkins, run down lot – jump squats, run to base of North Face – Rock Hoppers.   PAX finished 3 or 4 rounds – brutal

COP for a little plank work, peter parker, and parker peter.   Jog across parking lot and perform burpees at each bump until the six catches up.   Jog down to baseball field for some more sprint work – karaoke and backwards runs

Up to pavilion for dips X15, decline merkins X15, dips X15, and incline merkins.   People Chair until YHC calls for Jail Break back to starting point for a minute of planking before COT.

Naked Moleskin

A lot of firewood this morning between the “slant” that the Run Stopper workout would be harder thus The Rock was a better alternative (Russian Roulette – PAX didn’t know what was in the chamber for the Rock) and the constant chirping about YHC form.   The PAX is lucky we had an FNG this am or we might still be running.

Welcome FNG Doug Van Dyke heretofor known as Macho Grande (from Stryker in “Airplane” as Doug works for Stryker).

Appreciate the invite from Hopper and Gummy to Q this am – always an honor and a privilege.

Strong lead, Chelms. I thought we almost got through the tough exterior during COP when the bird came out. Turns out we just made you angry. While terrible, that exactly what Hopper and I had in mind for The Rock (except for the burpees, that’ll show up in your mid-year review). Great job mixing it up, and modifying to keep the six in range. Good to see a bunch of different guys circle back to bring the FNG along – Hammer, Tiger Rag, Hopper, Slim Fast. Good stuff. I only dropped back for him because I really needed the break after the Bermuda Triangle (Ed note: the triangle had four corners.).

The Day Zero vs. The Rock battle lines are forming along SC school lines. We had at least 5 Clemson grads this morning. It makes sense that the USC guys feel more comfortable in the parking lot of the Yellow Rose than a church.

I am still feeling the effects of the #firewood on my triceps (i.e. dips and arm extenders) and back (i.e. North face, planks,jump squats, burpees…essentially the entire workout). Sweet work Chelms…..Flipper said during the Bermuda Triangle, “I always heard Chelms delivers killer workouts, but he is bringing the heat today!”. True ‘dat!! I love that we keep hitting at least 3 miles each Saturday….let’s keep that up! That’s quite a set of professional designations you have awarded yourself, by the way Chelms!

We collected 15 jars of grape jelly! Deep Dish brought the majority of it as he cleared Harris Teeter’s jelly aisle on Friday! Thanks for the contributions boys as SlimFast also handed me for $$$ for the cause. Bring more jars and cash this Saturday as that is the final collection day!!

Welcome Stryker! It gets easier the more you come, so see you next week, man! You did great yesterday!

Next up on 6/13 are Gummy and Hammer!
