The Running of the Donuts
15 pax assembled at Dunkin’ Donuts in the humid dawn
MAD was first to leave at 5, slow and steady
10 minutes later, YHC, Early Bird, Geraldo, and young Benny strode on
Sea World caught us on Rea, for a fast run, he was ready
The triumvirate of Hokies (TL, Alf, and Baracus) as usual crushed the run
Kirk joined late, then had a donut with Semi-Gloss, waiting for a ride home
Gummy posted in his rusty shirt, a common sight at the Donut Run
Prohibition and Hannibal pushed hard, off the beaten path they did not roam
La-z-boy worked hard, he wasn’t loafing
Mr. Brady’s shirt with sweat was soaking

- Semi-Gloss requested a poetic backblast, so I hope you enjoyed the 14-line sonnet above. I don’t remember how iambic pentameter works (sorry, Mr. Wilson), so I didn’t bother with that. The sonnet certainly isn’t pretty or particularly creative, but neither of those are requirements for Donut Run backblasts, so I don’t think it will affect my grade.
- Thanks to Bushwood for handing YHC the reins to this morning’s Donut Run. I had planned to fartsack, but he gave me no choice, although posting doesn’t seem to be a requirement for Qing this workout.
- Thanks to the pax for posting. We had good numbers and everyone seemed to be pushing hard. MAD made his virginal DR post and did a great job of getting after it.

PS–I had hoped to be regaled with Semi-gloss stories, but sadly had to run SadClown Solo the entire route. Plus my Powerbeats3 went out yet again–sweat too much–so I had to listen to my internal voices for much of the run.
I can add a Semi Gloss story for you, Agony. He hasn’t made it up Sharon View yet without stopping for a grumpy.
In general, one of the better Donut Runs yet because different guys of different speeds finished around each other. We should plan it that way every week. Oh wait, we do. Must be Voodoo’s leadership.
Indeed this was my virgin post at Donut Run. While it took the full 75 minutes to finish, I blew past my previous PR for distance by 50% (from 4 miles to 6 miles). The beginning was lonely and quiet. Although I was passed by all 14 runners in the last mile or so, it was nice to hear words of encouragement. FILO – first in last out. Nowhere but up to go from here. Nice to have a baseline/benchmark to compare to as I try to push distance and pace. Enjoyed it. Thanks Voodoo.
