There ain’t no glamor in this tinseled land
Of lost and wasted lives
And painful scars are all that’s left of me
But thank you girl for teaching me
Brand new ways to be cruel
And if I can find my mind now, I guess I’ll just leave
And it’s guitars, Cadillacs, hillbilly music
And lonely, lonely streets that I call home
Yeah, my guitars, Cadillacs and hillbilly music
Is the only thing that keeps me hanging on
27 (or was it 28? – saw a mystery van leave before COT) posted to the only real Kettlebell Tuesday workout in A51 on this brisk January morn. It always warms the cockles of my heart to see the Pax outnumber the temperature. For the record, I’ll take 23 and dry over 35 and raining every day of the week.
THANG:
Fletch Drops KB on his toe, already numb from pre-running 7 min miles in subfreezing temperatures with a large albino man in sparkly knee socks chasing him. Says it didn’t hurt (yet) and shakes it off, so we begin.
Move KBs out of Trash Truck route (pointless)
Warmup run to tennis courts and back. Brown already complaining. Bananas sets the stage for an upcoming cramp.
COP – SSH, Merkins, IW all IC. Move for Trash Truck, who appeared somewhere in the middle. Move back to finish, since nobody has worked out on grass in three weeks we were all a little skittish.
Partner up, P1 runs to large rock in front of HS, P2 does called Exercise. Flapjack. Then P1 runs loop around the CDS Death Track while P2 does the same exercise. Flapjack again. Everyone gets four trips to the rock and four trips around the track. Some people did a few of the KB exercises too.
- Set 1 – Two Handed Swing
- Set 2 – Clean and Press – alternate sides
- Set 3 – Snatch – alternate sides
- Set 4 – Racked Squat – alternate sides.
Move to the frozen (but not soggy) field and line up for modified swing/burpee ladder
- 10 swings, run to other side, 1 burpee
- 10 swings . . . 2 burpees
- 10 swings . . . 3 burpees
- up to 10 swings, 10 burpees or death, whichever hits first
Circle back up for Mary, including flutters and LBCs
DONE
Observations from the Frozen Gloom:
- Baby it’s cold outside. This always brings out the best awesomely of clothing selections. I think that Lex Luthor had on the full Rudy Huxtable winter coat rig. Not sure how he did the KB exercises wearing that thing.
- Freedom is getting fast – the big man was moving this am. I think he was inspired by his fast moving thin-blooded partner, who gave him a nice little head start on the loops. He kept the lead most of the way though. Also noticed the new upsized cyclops kettle bell (20KG I think) – nice.
- Didn’t see a lot from the Group 2 runners, but it looked like Moses and the talking Busch were leading the pace.
- Regarding upsizing the bells, this is the best way to increase the difficulty of these types of workouts. Some of you guys (cough, Fireman Ed) who have been using the same bell for 3 years need to look at an upgrade.
- Spackler continued his theme of only doing the parts of the workout that he is good at, like burping and talking.
- Good to have BROnanas, BROwn, and BROnel back out. It’s always better with Meatheads around.
- Busted out the new Christmas speaker this AM (in Realtree, of course), and boy did it deliver. I think that the Dwight Yoakam was the top crowd pleaser though. Stone Cold got all fired up and I thought he was gonna take his shirt off for a second.
- Not sure what all went on during the track runs, but I was dodging alligators, swamps, and all kinds of Pitfall-esque obstacles out there. The Charge has nothing on this thing. #realmanstrack
- 2.5 miles for Skunk seems pretty solid. I know I smoked myself out there.
- I’m sure Tiger Rag was with us in spirit. I think he’s planning to return sometime soon in 2017.
- Thanks for the keys guys, hope it was epic. Hope the toe is ok Fletch.
