We continue to have a solid turnout on Monday mornings. I am glad these men like to get there week started off on the right foot. Hats off to a couple guys (Bottle Cap, Hollywood, Heisman) that really pushed the pax today. I don’t know Hollywood that well yet but will need to spend sometime there. He will be a good one to lead in the future. Bottle Cap has been pushing himself hard to lead the PAX in a lot of the running and exercises. I also had a chance to workout next to Dirty Bird during the circuit, he was giving it everything thing he had. Nice work! Doc was complaining about his wrist hurting from doing “something” this weekend. He got it an X-ray done at the Vets office. He may not be human after all. Short Circuit thank you for continuing to spread the work of F3. There where no 2.0 this morning. Must be getting the extra rest for EOG’s. Till next time.

Good weather and small group = good times. With the 5k race going on, we had limited use of
the Corporate Park but made good use of the deck.

Tolkien was going to double down but miscalculated that it would mean leaving the 2.0s solo for
3 hours so he showed up at 6:59am as we wrapped up, ready for the 5k. He hammered out a 19:00 time
and 3rd in age group.

We begin with a warm up jog to to a core work out  and suicide duo.

Partner up for:

  1. Partner 1 X’s & O’s Partner 2 suicide sprint to the island. Switch rinse and repeat until a total of 50 X’s and O’s are achieved
  2. Partner 1 LBC’s, Partner 2 suicide sprints.  Switch rinse and repeat until a total 100 LBCs are achieved
  3. Partner ! Flutters Partner 2 suicide sprints. Switch rinse and repeat until a total of 150 flutters are achieved
  4. Partner 1 Heels to Heaven Partner 2 Suicide . Switch rinse and repeat until a total 100 are achieved.

Gumby, Jamboree, and Blades were really pushing the pace on these.

Mosey to the soccer fields for exercises that aren’t Bur-pies

  1. Indian Run to the far side of the field.  20 pus…merkins
  2. Indian Run to the next corner. Spartan Burp…Hip thrusts x20
  3. Indian Run to the next Corner for squat jumps x20
  4. finish with 20 hill sprints for the weaving your way back to our starting corner.  This was for all the BRR guys.

The next round was a race, at which point Sledge took off and left the old guys in the dust, HATE.. Blades was with Sledge until the hill sprints at which time he started singing dream weaver, lost count and did 25 hill sprints instead of 20….and the title of our work out was born.

Field Day and Other Nastiness

Smokey and I planned to split the Q this week and I had my dastardly plan all laid out…
Until Horsehead texted some of the PAX a picture of a sign in front of the high school talking about a 5k in the morning at the school. I don’t think I have ever called an audible before a beatdown even started before. I called Smokey told him what was going on and we decided we just need to stay to the opposite side of the campus to limit any issues, easy enough except I didn’t have my new plan fully laid out.

Oh well, here we go!
Mosey to side of middle school, some guys were still playing with their keys and cars so lunge walk through the gauntlet (I remember Countertop called it that once so it works for me) to give the PAX time to catch up and regroup. Circle up just pass the last bus.

There was nothing more looked forward to in elementary school than field day. And when the baton was passed from Hair Band to Smokey, that is just what we did. After an Indian run mosey to the field beside the portables, we paired up in like sizes for wheelbarrow races. Honestly, there was a slight Q fail, as an Omaha had to be called for partners to switch half way through. It was all uphill from there. Another slow mosey Indian run led us to the elementary school playground and track for some pain.

11 strong showed up this morning for what was mistakenly advertised as a “low mileage” workout. Turned out to not really be the case. My bad. The clock hit 7am and with no site Q in sight (Hairball apparently was on child duty, this is yet to be verified, and Pro texted last night with some sort of illness. However, he was feeling good enough to cut his grass at 8am. You do the math) so I gave a quick disclaimer and we got after it.

The Thang:

One mosey around the track to explain the stations we would get to later in the workout and then circled up in the middle of the field. No SSH, no IW, and no mountain climbers…(sorry McGee) we got straight to business.

Split into groups for 4 corners.

The goal today was to keep moving for the entire 60 minutes and hit the major body parts. I feel we accomplished it. Alf, McGee, Swiper, and Heartbreaker took the early lead on the circuit and never looked back. I was content to fall into the middle of the group with Strawberry. I learned more about him today than I probably have in the year or so that I’ve known him. Good to chat, Bro. I’d be doing us all a huge injustice if I didn’t mention Semi’s antics. Not only did he rip into the parking lot literally going 55mph, but he got out of the car playing the role of Spackler this morning (ie, blood shot eyes, bed-head, and smelling of a homeless alcoholic). On a side note, Spackler couldn’t make it because he was hooked up to an IV at some shady “medical clinic” on East Independence Blvd. I digress. Semi immediately voiced his concerns that he hadn’t had time to use the bathroom at home so we all know what was going to happen..it was only a matter of time. I didn’t see it (but really wish I did) but apparently when it came time to drop the kids off at the pool, Gloss scaled some sort of fence and came out looking really bad. I mean, scratched arms and legs, ripped shirt, etc. Mrs. Gloss isn’t going to be happy. It was strange to say the least. Considering we all split into our own groups, I didn’t get to hear much of the chatter that took place. Feel free to chime in with what I missed. Thanks to Pro and Hairball for the chance to lead this strong group. Solid take-out but I have to say, I forget who did it. Swiper, maybe??? Sorry.

T-claps to all the men out there this morning for putting in some hard work.  An extra t-claps to Big Top and Yeti for running in this morning (I still don’t know where Yeti is coming from…he just materializes in the upper parking lot every Friday).

This group today certainly knew it was Friday…and the 13th no less.  Everyone seemed to be excited for the upcoming weekend and there was lots of chatter led by Skywalker..to the point I completely lost count of where we were in COP, which is definitely a first for me.

This AO has so much to offer for a bootcamp, so we toured almost all of it…from the blue door, to the playground, to Grandma Mountain, the bleachers, and the field.  A little bit of something for everyone, even introduced a new exercise.  Seems that the Lunge Jump Burpees were a crowd favorite…  I know they kicked my tail.

Strong work by all of you men pushing yourself out there this morning.  I may get this wrong, but I think I saw Yeti, Smokey, and Dollywood out front a bit this morning.  Stone Cold killed it on the AMRAP pull-ups…then provided the assist I needed to get mine in (pull-ups = kryptonite).  Sensei was getting after it during the gassers too.  Some debate about finding someone fast enough to lead him on the field…Header partnered up with him and they took off.

As always, a pleasure to lead this great group of men.  Hope you got your money’s worth this morning.

9 PAX showed up to test themselves at Community House Middle School on Thursday morning at the F3 SoB impromptu workout known as F3BlackDiamond.

The THANG:

  • Circle Up, Disclaimer, and let’s do some exercises In Cadence that went something like this: SideStraddleHop, Mountain Climbers (the slow, deliberate kind), Imperial Walkers, Good Mornings.  “Yoga” session over, so the PAX must have not wanted a stretch and warm-up.
  • Mosey on a little tour of the next two stations – rails near the gym, bleachers near the baseball fields.  Get into groups of three.
    • Partner 1 & 2 – take off for the rails.  Partner 1, once at the rails, 10 Standing Merkins to rail and then push back up to standing position.  Then, 10 Supines.  Repeato until relieve by P3.
    • Partner 2 – once halfway to rails, head back to relieve P3.
    • Partner 3 – start rounds of 10 jump ups on the bleachers and 10 20 Mountain Climbers.  Repeato until relieved by Partner 2.  Once P2 arrives, head off to relieve P1.
    • Continue Rounds until each Partner completes 3 rounds of each – about 15 minutes.  Plank to regroup.
  • Mosey to the larger field bleachers at the track. Partner up, except no one wanted JRR Tolkien as a partner.
    • P1 holds feet as P2 completes 10 Crossfit GHD Situps mimicking here – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NlVNTgIYLo  Flapjack.
    • Both Partners complete 20 Dips OYO
    • Both Partners complete 25 In & Out (ab exercise – your six on the bleacher, extend feet straight out with toes touching ground each time, knees to chest).
    • Repeato for 3 rounds
  • Halfway done.
  • Mosey to track and field to show next two stations along the home straightaway of the track (finish line to 100m start) and get back in groups of 3.
    • Partner 1 & 2 – take off from 100m start toward the finish line for the field exercise.  Partner 1, once at the field, 25yard Reverse plank slides with feet on discs (basically a reverse wheelbarrow). Jog back to start of 25yard and repeato until relieved by P3.
    • Partner 2 – once dropping off P1 at 100m, run back to relieve P3.
    • Partner 3 – Flip the tire.  There are two big tires and one REALLY big tire.  Choose wisely.  #gripstrength. Continue until relieved by P2.  Run to relieve P1.
    • Continue Rounds until each Partner completes 3 rounds of each – about 15 minutes.
  • Regroup at Track Start/Finish line.  WildTurkey suggests a timed mile, but we have something else in mind.  The Burpee Mile –

    • 10 burpees (hand release)
    • Run 400m
    • Repeato 4x.
      • Modify if needed (the Q did) for 5 burpees on each half lap for still only 10 total per lap
  • Regroup and then Burpees until the Six arrived.
  • Mosey back to cars at parking lot.
    • On your six for Flutter – ICx20.
    • 1 Leg Flutter Right ICx10.
    • 1 Leg Flutter Left ICx10.

Moleskin:

  • Very pleased that after MicCheck had YHC running a lot at DaVinci on Sat, that YHC could return the favor.  Apparently, he spends evenings hanging out at Community House Middle, so this was an opportunity to give him something else to think about while he’s there watching Track and Soccer practice.  Visions of the Burpee Mile will be dancing in his head.
  • Stump Hugger has been doing a lot of running, but not a lot of bootcamps, so super surprised to see him roll in as the 2nd man to arrive.  Eager to get after it, he didn’t let his partners down (though he may have let his head down to the bleachers a little too hard on the ab exercise – heard the ground shake) and was there every step of the way.
  • WildTurkey got in a nice tour of the CMHS campus looking for the track parking area, and seemed to have a lot of running on the brain this morning.  YHC already had planned to use the track for running before his suggestion, but like where his head is for the 1 Mile Swift Time Trial this coming Tuesday.  Should be a little easier without Burpees interrupting the flow.  Anyone notice that WT is showing up at most of these BD?  He seems to be everywhere these days.
  • Cable Guy and Mario were YHCs partners in the 3man group today, so YHC didn’t see much of them. What YHC did see of Mario on the Crossfit abs shouldn’t be repeated (#iwaslookingabovethewaist). Mario did say that if he had one halflap left on the Burpee Mile that he could have closed on JRR Tolkien…we’ll never know about that…but we do know that Mario was calling out several PAX on Hand-release Burpee (#notaninchworm) form.  Cable Guy either isn’t normally VERY enthusiastic, or he was just quiet today, or he was working hard and out of breath, for he would relieve YHC on the 3man grinders with a soft “Brat”.
  • Mr. Bean was vying with Tolkien for the lead on the Burpee Mile, but YHC thinks it may have been Mr. Bean’s lack of burpee form (no hop, what’s a merkin) or concerned with saving himself for the Q at Brave (#moreburpees) that kept him neck-and-neck.
  • SoftPretzel was quiet today.  He was keeping to his own little pain cave most of the morning.  Thanks for repaying YHC the honor after posting at your HairBurner BD.  Wonder how HairBurners would work on a rubberized track – with all of the friction, wondering if it’s even possible?
  • JRR Tolkien tried to get the Q to do his DragonFlag exercises on the bleachers, but YHC found those impossible last week.  Perhaps instead of dragging our feet on disks next time, we can just Handstand walk – hard enough for you?  Or was the Burpee Mile your limit?  Was that your Oral IV sprayed all over the track infield afterwards?  Sounds like a substance that may be on banned list for F3 next year (#cleanoursport).
