Not Much Running

Not Much Running

I was called in from the bullpen yesterday afternoon due to a Zinfandel Gold Cup outing impacted his ability to effectively take the reins. Not wanting to dust off an old Q (not that I can effectively remember them anyway), I set up to have a lower mileage, but still difficult Q, incorporating some gear to make Transporter happy.

The Warmup

  • DiCCS given
  • Quick Mosey around the parking lot and circle up in front of Target
  • SSH IC X 20
  • Merkins IC X 10
  • Calf Stretching
  • An early attempt to undermine the Q already by Ice 9
  • And we’re off….

The Thang:

  • Serpentine – 6 lengths in the Target parking lot w/ exercises at each island (3 per length)
    • Eastbound = 10 merkins at each island
    • Westbound = 5 burpees at each island
  • Mosey to my truck to pick up 2 20lb slam balls – Here I attempted to instruct the PAX for a simple Indian Run where the person in front drops the ball / the person in the back picks it up, sprints to the font, drops it, and repeat… While this seemed simple enough, Ice 9 again attempted his sabotage and confused the PAX, almost derailing the whole morning. Luckily, this was a short run to the back of Target, so his damage was limited…
  • At the wall, a quick game of Don’t Let it Drop (2 rounds)
    • 2 teams, each in a single file line facing the wall
    • 1 PAX tosses the ball above a designated line on the wall and peels to the back where he performs 1 burpee and returns to the line
    • The next PAX must catch the ball on its decent, toss it above the line, peel off, 1 burpee, and return to the line
    • Each PAX much complete 3 rotations – Every time the ball does not make it above the line = 5 burpee penalty of the team / Every time the ball touches the ground = 5 burpee penalty
    • Losing team = 5 burpee penalty
  • Mosey back to my truck to deposit the slam balls, partner up (1 Gazelle + 1 Clydesdale per team), and pick up some sand bags (50 or 60 lbs, depending on your bag) – or in Kirby’s case, my bag of Deer Corn…
    • P 1 does an AMRAP of varying exercises w/ the sandbag – Rows, Curls, Shoulder Presses
    • P2 Runs a hot lap around the Target traffic circle
    • 3 rounds total
  • Circle up for some Captain Therkins – 1 big boy sit up + 4 American hammers + 2 merkins / 2 big boy sit ups + 8 American hammers + 2 merkins…. We made it to 9/36 before time overtook us…

Moleskin

  • Welcome to our new FNG – Green Hornet – named because he looks like Seth Rogan… He killed it today for his 1st workout and even joined us for Q Source afterwards!
  • Welcome back to McFly who has been battling injury and health issues. I hope today was the 1st of many days we’ll see you back out there brother!
  • Ice 9 – I still love you brother, despite your attempts to throw me off my game today
  • Everyone pushed hard today. We mixed it up with some tough exercises, but you all crushed it! Thank you for pushing hard and continuing to inspire me to push as hard as I can.
  • Thank you for Zinfandel for putting his entertainment above the Q and pulling me off the bench – You know I love it and always have your back brother!

Spindrah

This morning I woke up to rain tapping at my window. I thought to myself no one will show today, it’s Saturday, raining at 5:30am, fixing it for Christ service event and a big ol’ donkey is on Q. I had visions of no one showing, just me in a parking lot. My mind raced with a backblast laced with me, myself and I in a Don Quixote-esq type struggle of physical feats and outrageous claims. Alas upon pulling into Nesbit I saw a gaggle of men and knew i had to put this dream away for another day.

DiCCS given. Let’s Mosey.

The Thang

Mosey to and around the circle up to Kensington parking lot. 11 Potato pickers, stretch left, right, plank calf stretches. Mosey to playground parking lot. Line up side by side. Bear crawl the length of the lot. Recover. Mosey to Kensington Drive around to the entrance of Millbridge.

To help our marketing efforts, I called for 20 monkey humpers, 6 facing the street. Mosey to clubhouse, return for the six.

At the clubhouse, line up side by side again. At this point Damascus stated if we were doing bear crawls he was going to climb on my shoulders or something awkward like that. I said of course not, no more bear crawls. We shall crawl – bear the length of the clubhouse parking lot.

Recover. YHC then informed the PAX we’d be moseying up the best hill in the recently acclaimed neighborhood, all the way to the end (second round about). 20 merkins at every intersection. Circle back for the 6.

Some wise ass then suggested we mary as we wait for Uber to bring us back to COT. Enough with that, YHC informed the group we’d be moseying back down to the clubhouse (a mere .7 miles away), stopping at every intersection and performing 10 Bobby Hurleys.

Right before the clubhouse a small group gathered at the entrance to the trail. Word got out a certain member of the PAX had the sudden urge to fertilize some bushes. Well, that’s all YHC’s colon had to hear. Change of plans – circle back for the 6, mosey along the trail back to Nesbit.

Arriving back at the Nesbit circle, YHC had an urgent matter to attend to in my office, temporary Q duties given to Rubbermaid. Sprints and burpees ensued. Upon completing my business, I returned and assembled PAX back to Nesbit Circle. Everyone grab space on the curb.

Next up: Robin Givens Web: 1 Mike Tyson, 4 jabs…all the way to 10 Mike Tyson’s, 40 jabs.

Next: Partner up, first pair sprint, all other hold plank until first pair cross finish line, next pair spring, etc. On the other end across the finish line, hold plank until the entire group finished. 25 LBC’s in cadence. Finished.

Ye Olde Moleskin

Seems like mileage today was between 3.5 to 4.0 depending upon how much you circle backed for 6. My inspiration for today was NOT Doughboy’s workout on Friday, in fact I didn’t see the backblast until this morning. I wanted to challenge myself and provide a workout that would be challenging for the fittest of gazelles. Also truth be told it was out of laziness, the only planned weinke was the loop from Kensington up to the top of the hill in Millbridge. Everything else I improvised. The inspiration for the Robin Givens webb was born out of an idea Knish shared with me as we moseyed down the hill. I won’t steal his thunder but he has a great new webb called the Donkey Punch. I was going to steal it and conduct this awful move back at Kensington, but as my urgent business matter called, I had to change plans. But, while in my office, a deviation of the Donkey Punch was born, the Robin Givens. Ta-da!

One thing I want to put out there, which is serious. My intent is to reach just one guy who is going through something similar and let them know they are not alone. It’s also a way to keep me accountable. I’m coming up on my 1 year anniversary with F3 in a couple months. Overall my stamina is up and I’ve lost a very modest 15 pounds, very mediocre results. What’s kept me from losing more and getting closer to the head of the pax? Booze, wine, cocktails. It was nothing for me to throw back a bottle of wine at night during the week. I was trying to suppress/numb some things I was going through, we all go through: My job, relationship with M, kids, just the everyday struggles and stresses we experience as we go through life. Problem was I knew I was growing old, but not necessarily growing up. 3-4 glasses of wine at the end of a day was suppressing this reality, if just for a couple hours. Problem was it was still there the next day. Well, after committing to myself and my wife, enough was a enough. No more drinky poo during the week. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still going to enjoy the weekends, but mindless, socialess drinking on the couch at night had to stop. It affected my mood, my ability to push myself during workouts, my performance at work and doesn’t help the fact that I’m prone to depression and anxiety. And in the couple weeks since I’ve started, it has made a tremendous difference. I also started seeing a therapist. That too has held me accountable and helping me become a HIM. Why do I say this all? It’s not for outreach or praise – but to say thank you to a group that has steered me down a path to becoming a better man. I say it because maybe someone else in the group is going through something similar. I want to let that person(s) it’s ok, life can be heavy at times and it’s ok to reach out for help. We CANNOT do this alone. Life is not meant to be a solitary exercise. F3 is one of many vehicles we can use to help each other out. I always knew that was part of the idea of F3, but I can tell you that not until I committed myself to becoming a better man did I feel the non athletic portions of F3 applied to me. We are here for you, I am here for you.

Blue Screen took us out, thank you.

Choose Your Own Adventure

Not that there was anything wrong with the RockZero site (except for a few suspicious looking campers parked near the cricket fields), we set our sites for legacy Day Zero. Hoover and Billy Goat had some alone-time as they were the only two who pre-ran. Sprockets came in hot at 6:59, point of parliamentary procedure announced regarding Billy Goat taking the reins at 7:45, disclaimer given, adventure begins.

Mosey over to the far parking lot, circle up.

Plank jack, IW, MC x 10 (each). Run to DZ playground and plank.

Upon arrival at DZ playground, only BLC (veteran) noticed there were a couple of cardboard signs hanging from the basketball pole. Advised the Pax they could pursue any of the below in no specific order. Gummy had no questions (unusual) so we spent the next 40 minutes doing the following.

Round 1

  • 50 merkins
  • 10 pull ups
  • 25 squats
  • 10, 4-count parker peters
  • 10, 4-count peter parkers
  • Run 2 laps around soccer fields

Round 2

  • 10 burpees
  • 35 carolina dry docks
  • 25 hand release merkins
  • 50 LBCs
  • 20, 4-count mountain climbers
  • Run 2 laps around soccer fields

Round 3

  • 15 diamond merkins
  • 15, 4-count freddie mercury
  • 15 heels to heaven
  • 15 old time sit ups
  • 15, 4-count flutters
  • Run 2 laps around soccer fields

Round 4

  • 5 burpees
  • 10 pull ups
  • 15, 4-count J-LOs
  • 20 walking lunges
  • 25, 4-count American hammer
  • Run 2 laps around soccer fields

At 7:45, most started back to RockZero.

Mole: Great group today. There was no complaining or utilization of stall tactics by anyone. Got to call out Splack for really motivating the group with his constant encouragement and positivity. Not sure what Sprockets does to get amped up in the morning, but the energizer bunny didn’t disappoint as he was the only one to complete all 4 rounds and did a lap around DZ before we all arrived. I think Boerewors took some comfort on the warm cement and watched Bounce rifle through 10 pull-ups in about 10 seconds (strong). Nemo, per usual, led from the front. We missed some familiar faces this morning as Geraldo was rucking 26 mi, Jet Fuel was carrying his new lady friend’s triathlon gear at Tri-Latta, and Hops, who I personally invited when I saw him at the Lodge on Thursday. Well done gentlemen.

Moving like a Tattoo

14 men gathered at Charlotte Catholic and most were surprised that YHC was there 5 minutes before the workout began. I knew that my usual one-minute roll-up would stress out the site Q’s, so I did my best to get there early. Apparently that is a thing, but it appears that most people spend that time doing some fake stretches. I gave a brief disclaimer (too brief for Lorax as he commented that “lawsuits are still on the table”. I never went to law school, but I’m pretty sure that just telling someone that they can’t sue you doesn’t actually keep them from being able to sue you).

The Thang

We moseyed up the short ramps to the top of the garage and circled up for a little:

IW x 10 IC

Mountain Climber x 10 IC

Merkin x 10 IC

Plank jack x 10 IC

Dolly x 10 IC

Flutter x 10 IC

Then, we did a lunge walk from the orange cones to the wall and headed down the stairs to the rock pile.

Grabbed rocks and headed back to below the garage for a little Triple Nickel. 5 pull-ups on the bar, take rock to the top level of the garage, 5 burpees with the rock (or “rockies” as Mermaid calls them), back down for 5 times (bringing the rock back with you on the last set).

Then, I gave the PAX some flexibility for a set of 150 reps between curls, shoulder presses, and tricep extensions. Didn’t matter what order as long as you got to 150 in total. Moseyed back to the rock pile to deposit the rock.

When back to the fence outside of the stadium for a little ladder action. Set of heel taps, LBCs, and tricep dips on the curb. 5. 10. 15

Then, did two rotations around the football stadium doing 10 merkins at each of the four corners. First set regular, second set diamond.

All you got back to the launch where we did a bunch of plank exercises for about 5 minutes.

Moleskin

Great group out there today as always. Everyone was pushing it hard, with Snuka and Lorax leading the way mostly. Interesting chatter during the count to 150 with Clover calling out Mermaid for his tattoo and asking him if the tattoo has moved on him. No one believed that Clover was serious but apparently that is a thing. Speaking of Clover, happy 45th birthday!

Heard some mumble chatter from the site Q for walking once between exercises, but I had to remind him that we don’t leave anyone behind in F3. I felt obligated to push the PAX hard today knowing that Lorax will be following me up in a week. And yes, the dips were a little lame on the curb and Champagne said that I should have called them little baby dips. Next time.

Announcements

Ranger is headed off next week to start his physical training program for the armed services (not sure which branch) so keep him in your thoughts and prayers. He shared some powerful words about what F3 has meant to him and how it has prepared him for his challenge ahead. Great encouragement to all.

Oh, The Places we will go

Twenty Pax were crazy enough to show up for me trying to find a way to make them anguish in pain or simply wish that they had fart-sacked like Deflated. As a Clydesdale, most people have come to expect less running when you see a Q who weighs in at 265 lbs. However, it is more fun to surprise the pack and offer a Dasher Q in a Clydesdale package

Let’s Mosey: WThe PAX headed down the path, stopping at every light for a different exercise, starting with 20 side straddle hops, Merkins, Plank Jacks, Potato Pickers, Moroccan Night clubs, Low Slow Squats, and finishing with everyone’s favorite, Mike Tysons. We mosied up to the circle near the high school to plank while the six arrived. They, unfortunately, got to run more as we jogged to the high school parking lot. The PAX was introduced to the Triple T Nickel which consisted of 5 squats at the bottom, run out to the T and perform 5 t-Merkins, and run to the top of the hill for 5 Full Situps. Repeat the process 5 times and you have 2 miles and a lot of complaints. Once we finished at the bottom, Run Flat was appreciative of having to Mosey back to the top of the hill. After a brief 10 count, we did 10 squatting jabs at one light and alternated to a burpee at the other light all the way back to the middle school. Finally, we grabbed some bench for 25 dips, ran a lap, and did 25 more dips. We finished with a plank for the last 60 seconds.

COT: We graduated a few new Gazelles into the group after today’s adventure in running. Great workout and thanks for the patience on the backblast.

School’s Out For Summer

That song got stuck in my head for some reason as we were all breathing in that dense humid air. I love summer, I wish it was all year round, there just something fun about it, maybe fond memories of no more getting up for school, vacations or who knows but I love it. With that I was excited and anxious to Q the brave as I typically am. The expectations are high with this group, they come to work out and I know I have to give everything I got to keep them happy. 5:14, Disclaimer Check, 5:15, GO.

The Thang: Mosey starts quickly out the gate for most it was between a 7:15 and 8:30 Pace toward Stonecrest. Stop a couple times for a very brief warm up and some burpees to arrive at some parking lot for 11’s, Burpees on one end, merkins on the other. Finish up with some Mary for the Six and mosey across the street to the hill. 7’s on hill. Merkins at the bottom, Air squats at the top. Finish with some mary for the six. Next, 4 corners around the “mall?” starting with 20 Burpees, 15,10 and finish with 5 at each corner. Mosey back to start with 10 jump squats at each intersection. Finish with some sprints for roughly 4.6 miles and 14 flights of stairs (according to Garmin).

Moleskin: 3 Respects (whats your excuse????) not to hit the Brave. They are the leaders. They are who we need to be when and if we ever grow up. SnowFlake has always em(bodied), figuratively and literally, F3 and the definition of leadership, I hope to be somewhere close to his shape when I am 57. I will follow that man where ever he goes, he’s doing it right. Frehelies continues to impress me and gets after it and Paper Jam doesn’t quit and keeps doing something rather then sitting at home because he is injured. As far as the rest, I saw all heart today and perseverance. Burpees are a drag, that’s why they are a great exercise but no excuses today, we were all in it and in it and in it together to finish Nice work gents.

Starrcade 2019 – Cerberus Edition

15 PAX celebrated the summer solstice and longest day of the year bright and early with the most confusing site name in the region and perhaps the most confusing line-up of exercises they’ve seen in a while.

WARM-UP

Mosey through the Whole Wallet parking lot, mixing in some alternating side shuffles with the mosey, circling up in the back employee lot.

  • Imperial Walker x 20 IC
  • Seal Jacks x 20 IC
  • Mountain Climbers x 20 IC
  • Windmill x 20 IC

THE THANG

Mosey straight to the parking garage and jump the wall to get into the lowest level of the garage.

  • Choose a stairwell and do 5 calf raises on each step, alternating the toes facing forward, outward and inward, and go up one flight of stairs.
  • Exit the stairwell for a lap on that level of the garage and add 5 hand-release merkins.
  • Repeat to the top for 3 flights of stairs.

Mosey back down 2 levels of the garage, jumping and slapping every other crossbeam above the down-ramp area of the garage.

10 pistol crunches per leg and then mosey back up to the top of the garage using shortcuts of cutting through the gaps in the walls and climbing the metal cable railings. 10 more pistol crunches per leg on the flats.

Top Rope Challenge – At the top of the deck, 1 burpee then cross to the other side of the deck for 5 Supermans. Return for 2 burpees and then cross again for 10 Supermans. Repeat with 3 and 15. Highly encouraged to go straight across, climbing the cable railings between exercises.

3-Man Tag Team – Mosey down to the Haagen-Daz area, gather in threesomes. Two PAX get in plank beside each other while the other puts feet on the short wall, and one hand on the back of each team member for 10x merkins. When done, the merkin-er runs a timer lap while the other two do dips. Switch up and give each PAX the time for merkins.

Return to COT with 7x Flying Sun Gods per leg to finish out.

MOLESKINE

YHC hasn’t watched wrasslin’ in many years, but much of the joy of watching the NWA on the SuperStation TBS as a child was the creativity of the matches. The most memorable of the creative matches was the scaffold match that pitted the Road Warriors vs. the Midnight Express at Starrcade 1986 which culminated in Jim Cornette dropping from the scaffolding and mauling his leg.

YHC wanted to have some creative fun to kick off summer and the longest day of the year, but he was also still suffering from his own stupid ideas Q’ing Dromedary two days prior and did not want to end up like Jim Cornette. That fun came through attacking the parking garage in new and different ways that elicited mumblechatter, some revolt and an open call for a Q-jack at one point.

The initial wall climb into the garage was a nice twist on using open space to enter an area. The calf-raise ascent of the stairwell was possibly the slowest ascent ever and quite painful. Descending the ramps and seeing others jumping to slap the crossbeams was pretty entertaining. Climbing through the wall gaps to go back up was initially cumbersome, but it prepared the PAX for the full-bore assault on the braided-cable railings at the top.

For some reason, Job is not well-versed in mid-1980s southern regional professional wrestling, but he easily got the hang of climbing the cable railing. There was minimal flying from the top rope, but some PAX did get creative with that, though YHC heard no Ric Flair-esque cries of “Woooooooo!!!!!” If one looks down from the top level through the gaps and ropes, it’s quite a descent but all PAX stayed safely within the ropes of the squared circle. The 3-man tag team effort was chaos, but those matches always are — metal chairs were moved around on the concrete, but fortunately, Gumbo and Billy Goat didn’t get angry enough to throw them.

What a Maroon!

The Naked Moleskinny Thang:

What in the name of Jay Berwanger is going on here?!

YHC, after noting that the SF was firmly planted in the Stonecrest soil #allisrightwiththeworld and introducing or re-introducing myself to the Rebel Yell pax, a woefully insufficient disclaimer was issued, and off we went. Not to worry, there were, at least, 2 attorneys (Patent Pending & Teleporter) present – so they had my back.

The pre-runners – Billy Goat, Taco Stand and War Eagle (I think?) had worked up a good lather. I asked if they pre-ran. Had to be that or they each had just taken care of a heavy load of paperwork pre-workout. Speaking of Taco Stand – my man has gone from no F3 to 5 workouts per week and a planned 50K this fall. Why not, brother?!! T-claps.

We ran over to the Firebird’s parking lot for COP, but not before the first trivia question was asked. Question: What is the capital of Alabama? Ralph’s answer: Tuscaloosa. At that point, War Eagle yelled: “Your damn, right!”. But alas, he was wrong. 5 burpees. The actual answer: Montgomery

COP – not exactly sure what we did but think it included slow squats, H-R merkins, IW’s and Flutters.

Next trivia question was asked of Loogie. It was a really obscure reference to “Field of Dreams”, which YHC had taken his family to see on Sunday (Father’s Day) as it was back in theaters for a couple days. In fact, it was at Stonecrest. Loogie missed badly. Asked which two St. Louis based ball clubs were represented on the field when the ghosts started playing actual games. He answered with the Cardinals (correctly) and then some team from another state… Wrong. 5 burpees fellas. St. Louis Browns was the other team. My great uncle, Walter “Boom Boom” Beck, pitched for the Browns (his 1st major league club). True story. Don’t believe me? You’ll have to look it up.

We then partnered up for some circuit work. P1 runs while P2 does called exercise. Jump squats, one-legged squats and Freddie Mercury. By the way, according to Billy Goat and Teleporter, he is either from Buda, Hungary or Pest, Hungary…or is it/was it Budapest.

The Goat’s trivia question about the long-departed Queen lead singer got me thinking European geography for our next question. Capital of Bulgaria? BG answered incorrectly, but someone else answered correctly…can’t remember who that was? Nevertheless, the first answer is the only one admissible, thus, 5 more burpees. Actual answer: Sofia

0-fer on the trivia at this point. Come on guys!

Jog over to the fountain area for some wall work consisting of double-squat jump-ups and merkins (a box jump burpee, if you will…somewhat disguised), incline merkins as well.

Asked an NC State trivia question at this point, which Loogie didn’t even know. YHC imagines Fredo and/or Mighty would’ve punched Loogie in the yap at this point. Question: what 2 years did Mr. Wuf & Co. win the NCAA basketball tournament? Can’t remember who answered, but he was off by quite a bit…twice. Answer: 1974 & 1983. 5 burpees while Jimmy V rolled over in his grave.

Jog over to the expansive Target parking lot. At this point the pax got a little nervous as the Devil’s Turn pax were mustering and YHC hinted we might converge…..no way. Boot camp workout. Boot camp workout. 1.87 miles. You’re welcome.

In the lot we did some lunge walks, broad jump burpees and karaoke. Not the singing variety of karaoke, thank goodness. Though methinks Swine Flu could sing like Frankie Valli – he kind of looks like him and also sounds like he’s from New Jersey. Francesco Stephen Castelluccio of Newark, New Jersey

By the way, Frankie and his Four Seasons are still alive and touring and will be at Ovens Auditorium in the CLT on July 12th. Don’t believe me?

Ok – now we head over to the movie theatre for some more wall work consisting of Walthar N’Djaiye’s and overhead press while in “the chair of the people”. But before that…one more trivia question. Question: capital city of West Virginia? And then like a knucklehead, I answered the question in advertenty….thus I did the 5 burpees…though a think a few pax joined me. #cobains

While in the chair, YHC asked another movie question. What famous actor was the corpse in “The Big Chill”? Answer: Kevin Costner. Don’t remember the guess, but it was wrong. 5 more burpees, gentlemen. In full truth, I wasn’t entirely sure this was accurate. But upon further review: He played a character who died by suicide and filmed various flashback scenes for the film. When it hit theaters, however, Costner was noticeably missing from The Big Chill, featured only as a corpse with just seconds of screen time.

Mosey back to the launch lot for 6 MoM, and a couple more trivia questions. Don’t really remember what exercises we did but the 2 trivia questions were as follows: 2 part question (penalty of 10 burpees): Who wrote the Star-Spangled Banner? And at what fort did he see the flag flying when he was inspired to pen the words? Answers: Francis Scott Key at Fort McHenry. Somebody(ies) nailed both, so no burpees. I knew the good pax of Rebel Yell were red-blooded Americans! T-claps.

Last question was how many albums did Boston record? Somebody guessed 1, and someone else said “too many”. Answer: 3 albums.

5 more burpees.

Finito.

Announcements: pool party/cookout after Crane Relay on 7/26 where 2.0’s and M’s are welcome but may regret posting. For details, move in to Park Crossing or bug Thin Mint? Tagalong? Mighty Mite? I don’t know.

Enjoyed it men. Thanks to War Eagle for giving YHC the reins to the Rebel Yell steed. Hope we didn’t gallop off the cliff.

…..OH YEAH: One more trivia question was asked:

The first Heisman Trophy winner, who graced the gridiron at the University of Chicago (nickname: Maroons)? Answer: Jay Berwanger (1935)

Another interesting fact about the University of Chicago. True story below:

The Atomic Age began at 3:25 p.m. on Dec. 2, 1942—quietly, in secrecy, on a squash court under the west stands of old Stagg Field at the University of Chicago.

Today, Henry Moore’s “Nuclear Energy” sculpture and the Mansueto Library occupy the area at the corner of Ellis Avenue and 57th Street where Enrico Fermi and his colleagues engineered the first controlled, self-sustaining nuclear chain reaction 70 years ago. Their experiment was a key step in the Manhattan Project to develop the atomic bomb during World War II.

Tropic Thunder

Ahh, summer is here. And the humidity, and poor Wednesday night eating habits that lead to explosive gas in the AM. Got to OPES a little earlier than usual #Qresponsibility. Had knowledge of Gloss bringing an FNG, low and behold, they were already there yuckin it up with Spack. Spack informed me that he skipped Meathead to come to this dumpster fire #truefriend. Curd came running in shirtless, but had his iPod in his trusty utility belt. Did I hear Asia coming out of there? “Sure as the sun across the sky, this light is over”. Whoa dude, you know how know you’re ….? All other Hydra pax dismounted their whips, and we got after it. Eh hem proper disclaimer given as well for those counting.

Here are the workout details, especially written for those that have no clue why they still get attention.

Story time

Asked for the chatter last night, and the Hydra pax never fails to disappoint. I think Sippy Cup and Big Wheel were the only people counting cadence today. Thanks fellas.

One Eye, Sprockets, Curd all ran in. If they were anything other than ultra runners, I would’ve taken it personally.

Sprockets has to be the most “on it” Site Q of all time. Dude hit me up at Hawks Nest with “48 hour warning”, then last night in a text, then this morning asked how I slept. One of my favorite Met At Work songs is titled “Overkill”. That might be a new nickname for our favorite energizer bunny.

Spack challenged me to stay on the practice field to do the first round of grinders, with the same exercises the entire 45 mins to get the pax fired up. We didn’t get through two rounds before Gummy already started asking for more creativity. That weinke would’ve suffered a mutiny faster than it took Capt Jack to take over the Black Pearl.

Deep Dish was using my stall tactics on me when heading to the half pipe. It was like I was having deja vu with myself. Although Deep Dish doesn’t look or sound anything like me. Is that weird? Anyway, it worked for like 30 seconds, then I wised up. #vetmove

The group that accompanied Gloss and me at the half pipe probably regretted their decision. Not sure what Gloss ate last night, but he let one rip, and it entered my personal space. My defense mechanism kicked in like an Iranian missile to his US drone. The hits kept on coming for a couple of rounds, much to the chagrin of Curd who could smell our swamp farts from 20 yards away. His face was classic. Spack was also talking about some new calorie counting app he’s implemented, thinks he plugged in 10 vodkas while playing golf yesterday. 10am – 10pm…only 10 drinks? Seems light to me. Think you better add a few to that app, unless you had Saboo behind the bar makin stiffies, which has been known to happen at CGC.

Ductwork let me know on Tuesday that his management team was lamenting about having their meetings at 5am on Thursday mornings. They switched it to 9am moving forward, so it will be awesome to see DW at future Thursday workouts. That’s a good boss right there.

Marge was crushing the runs as usual, although his feet never seem to get more than 4 inches off the ground. Fastest waddle you’ll ever see, but the man is fast. Clover and Jet Fuel getting in their solid, slightly subdued work as usual too.

Heading into COT, Pop Tart complemented me on the running amounts today (I think?), Hannibal had us at 2.85. Not too shabby for a bootcamp kinda guy. Geraldo was also asking YHC at DV yesterday if we were doing a lot of running today? Not too much G-man, just enough for me to get a good sweat going. Like that matters.

And now to our FNG, Vince Zito. Gloss brought him out, so he was already playing from behind. Had knowledge of his impending attendance this morning from Tuesday, so Gummy and I were already brainstorming on his nickname yesterday at DV. Only knew his name, so we had to get deep. #thatswhatshesaid Thought about Color of Money, and Vince Vaughn stuff, and thought we might land on Van Gogh. Hydra pax brought it this morning, I think it was Sprockets that pulled Motor Boat from Wedding Crashers. “you motor boatin’ son of a bitch, you old sailor you!!” Good stuff, even though I think we already have one somewhere?

Thanks to Jet Fuel for the good take out prayer this morning.

Thanks to Gummy and Overkill/Energizer/Sprockets for the chance to lead the Hydra.

Help Wanted: Site Q at The Floater

Thanks for taking the time to open the post and read more about the help needed at the 87th worst site in all of WUC. I was just enough of a sucker to let old Moneyball talk me into assisting him with the site and it’s been hell ever since. What’s worst than hell? The Floater is.

With Moneyball making the move to the big city I’ve got very tiny shoes to fill as I slide into the lead position. But now I need your help locating a 2nd site Q to help handpick the toughest SOBs in WUC to Q and to ensure whoever we pick gets those Backblasts out in a timely manner. Keep the streak alive….

All that said, today was my 24th Q since joining F3 and I’m now 24 days away from 1 year anniversary! But today I woke up with a new spring in my step, partially because I ate a lot of Brussels Sprouts and at about 2:30am they decided to leave “the house”. I then went back to bed and woke up at 4:30am with a newer spring in my step because it was the 1st time I would have control of the site without MB hounding me about how he’s in charge, that I need keep my opinions to myself, those shorts really make your quads look nice, etc…..

DiCCS given. No man left behind reminder and no Mary at The Floater, we only circle back.

MOLESKIN

It was a beautiful morning for a butt whopping with only light humidity and do I feel a breeze?Slight audible on the starting location due to the lot being used but the smell of spelt grain was in the air due to a massive amount of spelt grain from Dreamchasers. Banjo and I ate a handful hoping for a slight IPA beer buzz but I didn’t feel anything.

Great job to the 13 men that joined me this morning and everyone welcome our newest FNG, Juiced! He comes from the Crest of Briar and is sandwiched between Dancing Bear and Banjo (pray for him). Juiced is a great dude and as he shared in COT, today was the first time he has ever worked out in his 40 years of life. Never easy but nice work pal!

I’m already sore from this morning but those brews Bottlecap promised for tonight’s workout at Clyent Hoppy Hour got my mouthwatering. If you haven’t done a two a day, now is the time since BC promised low mileage and in the shade (but with gear). Can we create a descriptive word for someone, other than dumb, that does all 7 workouts for the week? It’s not easy but is a true mental test as the week goes on!

Doughboy on Q tomorrow and he always has brutal workouts planned. He said this morning he has a few new things planned and I’m scared. So scared I’m going to wear my vest for it….

Thanks MD for taking us out!
