4 pax made it to Joust looking to continue the festivities of freedom from the day before. It was humid, it was early, and the beer consumed by YHC the day before starting to stink the parking lot up. After a brief disclaimer about safety and YHCs potentially deadly gas leaks, we were off.
The Thang:
Run to the far end of the parking lot on Sardis Rd.
IW x 20
Like a pack of stray dogs, we saw a car pull in and decided to go chase after the late pax. Mosey back to the cars then down behind the school and to the field. No sight of anyone so we stopped for:
Merkins x 10
Shoulder Taps x 10
Peter Parkers x 10
Mosey back to the cars, to find Mr. Brady running across the parking lot looking for us. YHC took the opportunity to pull out the party favors for the day’s festivities. Party favors included a large stick-like item and an empty 1/2 barrel keg.
Line up in the parking lot leading to the football field. Split into 2
teams (3 on one team and 2 on the other). First pax from each team picks up the coupon and runs with it 2 spaces, sets it down and returns. Next pax runs to the coupon and brings it back. Rinse and repeat going 4 spaces, 8, then 16. Flapjack and bring the coupon back.
Head up the hill (by what YHC assumes is the cafeteria) and use the picnic tables there.
20 dips, 10 step ups each leg
15 dips, 7 step ups each leg
10 dips, 5 step ups each leg
Return to the coupons, rotate coupons, and rerun the coupon suicides.
Staying in the parking lot, one pax from each group does a called exercise and the others ran to the end of the parking lot and back. Exercises included coupon OH press and coupon curls.
Line up on the wall under the “Upper School” letters and get into People’s Chair. Grab the keg and pass it up and down the line. First rotation with 0 OH presses, second rotation with 1 OH press each time the keg was passed to you, third rotation with 2 OH presses for each keg pass. Take a break, go into balls to the wall for a solid 10 count.
Then down to the parking lot for some Mary including: Heels 2 Heaven, LBC’s, Freddie Mercury
At this point, Mr. Brady commented that we should do some more running and even mumbled something about the first hill at Horsey. YHC had 0 desire to hit that hill and was sure the pax, excluding Mr. Brady, would mutiny so we did the next best thing. We moseyed to the football field for some sprints. This was almost met with a refusenik from Mr. Brady, Jet Fuel called him on how HE WANTED to run, go figure. Anyway, sprint from the goal line to the 20 and back, then the 40, then the opposite 40, opposite 20, and finally opposite goal line. By then we were out of time and returned to the cars for COT.
The Keg-Toss Moleskine:
More than a month ago, YHC volunteered to Q this date. It had been too long since YHC’s last visit to Joust and with the change in Site Q management and the ultimate frisbee craze, YHC had to check in to see if the wheels were falling off. In mentioning the Q to an unnamed pax two days before, a comment was elicited that it would be a rough day to Q. It’s the day after the 4th, a large convergence in the morning the day before, cookouts and fireworks, no one will want to get up and we’ll all be exhausted. When YHC showed up at 5:26 AM, one car was slowly circling the parking lot, and two others came in hot. Not a total washout but close.
Good effort by the pax today, YHC was feeling the effects of celebrating so much freedom the day before and either the pax were sympathetic and let YHC run a little slower or were also feeling the effects and were OK with the pace. Hammer and Heartbreaker might have said three words total during the whole workout but pulled the silent assassin card. Mr. Brady maintained his usual upbeat persona at the early hour. YHC was surprised to hear that he wanted to run to Horsey when we had 8 minutes to go but wasn’t so hot on sprints on the field. Jet Fuel, like YHC, hadn’t been to Joust in a long time either but left it all on the field and the parking lot. He is also travelling overseas next week for work, have a safe trip bother.
Thanks to Ductwork for the opportunity to lead and thanks to Hammer for the takeout.
No announcements.
23 men joined myself for a grueling patriotic themed workout. I called a quick audible and we did the 76 burpees before the 1 mile run. All Pax agreed this was a good call.
Hollywood and Kid Rock crushed the circuit and seem like they wanted more. Let’s talk about Damascus for a second. If you ever Q and call “recover” before he finishes his reps he will whine…A LOT. Its a holiday and Pax have schedules to keep, next time buddy.
Solid push today by all. Kid Rock said he heard a few police out there today? I think if you actually had enough in you to call someone out on form you need to work harder. Chances are you’re slacking trying to pay attention to everyone else. Worry about you.
Well done guys! Happy 4th and stay safe out there.
Thanks Damascus for taking us out and for the bony hip in my thigh during your photo op…
Announcemts:
Spartan Race July 27th
The region logo is underway…again so look for that some this year. Hopefully
11 Pax showed up today for the Monthly Wednesday AMRAP at Marvin Ridge High School.
Disclaimer and Safety instructions given at 5:29am, Lanternsand chalk-marked stations were already set out, so grab a Lifting Rock for 2 of the 7 stations and drop them. Time for a quick warm-up…SSH + Quad Stretch + Low Slow Squat + IPW + MTC.
THE THANG:
Here is what this quarter’s course and (7) Stations look like:
THE RESULTS:
Everyone worked very hard today, and it is clear that the Pax is getting stronger, faster, more fit every month. The numbers have improved and there isn’t much of a gap anymore:
Dasher takes today’s title with 6.3 Laps completed!
Centerfold = 6.2 Laps
Carb Load = 5.6 Laps
The Knish = 5.3 Laps
Pocahontas = 5.2 Laps
Garbage Plate (2.0) = 5.2 Laps
Honeycomb = 4.6 Laps
Old McDonald = 4.4
Rudy = 4.3 Laps
Legalized = 4.3 Laps
The Grease Monkey = 4 Laps
MOLESKIN:
Filling in to lead the WAMRAP is pretty easy. I will step in to lead the first Monday of any month. Thank you all for allowing me to lead what little I did today. The thing I love about an AMRAP is 30 minutes of non-stop movement, there are no breaks. Each person pushes as hard as they can for that time encouraging the rest of the Pax along the way. Everyone crushed it today!
Almost forgot to mention we lost Rudy for a bit. He went to the woods looking for a bear so we had to start without him. His numbers may have been a little low and he felt lighter in his shoes.
Have a safe fourth of July! Enjoy your families, friends, and food.
WUC – Nesbit tomorrow at 6:30 for a brutal 4thof July special. Not sure where Deadwood came up with this insane idea.
Thank you Centerfold, for taking us out.
It’s the week of 4th and the KOA Campground vacation was in full force at Anvil this morning. There were grassy knolls, picnic tables, rock piles, tree lines, RVs, RV toilet smells, pop up travel trailers, scooters, and old men telling stories of days gone by. We used many of the items in the list for the workout, and what we didn’t use certainly impacted the workout.
Vacation started with Lorax almost running over a camper that had wandered out of his RV. Perhaps he was sleep walking but the presence, thankfully, of a worn out terry cloth robe suggested that he was headed to the bathhouse.
Like all campground vacations, we ended up with extra guests… you know, like that 3rd cousin that did a little jail time for the “misunderstanding with the officer”, along with his live-in girlfriend, the guys from Death Valley just dropped in, started eating our Andy Capp’s hot fries and drinking all our Sun Drop, without even asking.
All the old guys, like Chelms, Snuka and Magoo, started talking about the independence days of old, when they shot bottle rockets out of the old 10 oz. Coke bottles…at each other. Chelms even mentioned a scar in a certain location that thankfully he stopped short of trying to show us. None of us would have recovered from that. BLC just kept spitting ‘baccor juice into his Sub Station II cup and laughing at all the stories.
MPG strolled in on his scooter and then wandered around the entire campground looking for us, like that uncle that no one really speaks of anymore.
The only thing missing this morning was that brother-in-law Spack, the one that pops his first top before he takes the first bite of Sugar Smacks, and a shirtless Gloss, that shows the top of his crack every time he bends over to crush out his cigarette.
Happy 4th. ‘Murica.
9 Pax made it out to Chiseled for some station work and then we decided to cook the pork belly for the final 5 mins.
Cover standard Diccs and ensure all have signed proper waivers and 8 pax off for quick mosey around Mt. Chiseled. Upon return our 9th pax came in on 2 wheels calm cool and collected into the lot to join the group. But as this pax has sung before in concert…

Moleskin:
Lets Mosey: We ran to the bus lot and did 11 imperial walkers,11 potato pickers, and then a calf stretch. Then we ran to the field and we did the circle of death which is when one person calls out a workout and he runs around the track while everybody else does the workout that he called out. After that, I called something out that caught my dad (Doughboy) off guard. I called out bear crawl across the field. Then we ran back to the start.
PreBlast: All weekend it was just me and 3 kids…M went to Charleston for the weekend. When it’s just me and the munchkins we BALL. We hit 4 different pools in 3 days, ate chocolate pancakes both mornings, went shopping a few times, and purchased 5 containers of Breyers ice cream. Side Note: Everyone in my house is sensitive to or allergic to dairy so my wife always buys coconut-based ice cream…..
I polished off an ENTIRE BOX of the Take-Two (half Vanilla half Chocolate)! Only about an hour after did I realize that may not have been a good idea.
3 other Pax joined me at Brooklyn Pizza for what would be an interesting morning. The humidity was among us as I started sweating immediately as we took off.. Was it the humidity or was something brewing!!
DiCCS given and we were off!
The THANG:
Mosey to Target – Circle up!
5 LSS – IC
At this point, I may have to start ranking all the local pools. I’ve been to the B & C (still a front runner) Lawson (Very fast slide) Chainsaw’s (I’m working on a party – coming soon) and lastly Wesley Oaks.
After today Wesley Oaks holds a special place in my heart. Let’s keep moving!!
One the last leg of the mosey it hit me and hit me hard… Not not a turtle head.. This was going to be an EXPLOSION!!
During the Mosey I inquired about the facilities. “Damasus, you think the bathroons are unlocked?” “Yeah probably, but theres a 6′ fence to get over.”
Fence…psshhhh…… a fence wasn’t about to slow down the murder scene to come.
We arrived at the clubhouse. I called out the 11’s and headed to the see about scaling this fence and if it was even possible. Damascus yells out, “Go over to that side they have cameras over there!” Hope they don’t have good audio….haha. Put it this way… a sock has been used in the past but this would have taken both socks, underwear, and shirt!!
Scaled the fence with no problem and went for the door….. F&#%……it was locked up tighter than ( insert here). Think. Think. Think.
What would Zinfandel do? We all know he is the king personal hygiene and has been known to give a bidet to a fellow pax…haha THIS GUY…
I see a rolled up water hose while I was still on the inside of the fence – you with me – It was dark and I couldn’t tell if it had a removable on/off valve. I was literally in a panic…
I hopped the fence and grabbed the valve…SCORE!!! I’m not out of the woods yet! Where will this all take place?? I was about to destroy something… The hose was about 20-25′ long.. I made it two feet and blew up the pine needle bed almost shitting on my shoes!!
Thinking ahead, I had already turned the water on before I nuked the needles… Apply a small amount of thumb pressure to the end of the hose, you have an instant Bidet!! Morning saved!!!
All pax worked hard and it was a good workout. Well done with the vest Damascus! Do us all a favor and burn the vest and buy a new one. Joking…not for a second am I joking. BURN IT.

MOLESKINE
During Ignition, with a couple of PAX disappearing at different times to take care of business (one PAX in the woods) over 5 miles was covered and more for the leaders who had to circle back multiple times for the 6. Hollywood and Legalzoom were upfront the entire time making things look easy. Dasher as well – minus his potty break. Actually everyone deserves a mention as there was no breeze and it was muggy. Nice job Rubbermaid and Ringer for battling with no breaks. Cobbler was the man who was pushing through the pain. Nice job brother.
During Flash, as everyone pushed really hard through the ailments. Deflated should be mention for crushing the Triple Nickel, Gaylord for owning the Escalator(whatever that is), Easy Button was the man on the 7s, was awesome having Spike back and even better seeing Popeye on a weekday pushing hard.
