PAX filed in one by one and began unloading the gear. high_tide got the award for most kettlebells (7) and a piece scrap wood (1-circa 1980’s squared off 2×4), ickey_shuffle rolled up and we briefly discussed the fishing pole holder/rocket launcher contraption on the jeep. Distraction. We all then lauded the eternal need and uses of scrap wood that litters our garages and the M’s that try to removed said wood.
My playlist(s) were trash, per usual. Started with a cover of stadium rock jams. Who covers a stadium rock song, and better yet why did I choose that playlist? Just Turrible. Moved to standard mid aged white dude jams…..betterish.

MARY: She wasn’t there, unless that was her running in the parking lot. ANNOUNCEMENTS: Thoughts and prayers to Lorax for the recent loss of his mother. COT: Not very comfortable. Leading with some scripture that addressed violence, he led the PAX through the discussion on Chapter 5 – Doesn’t Religion Cause Violence?
And the PAX got a little squeamish at smaller accommodations than normal until the stink eye forced the single soul out of the normal high top table spot.
Gump up next for Chapter 6 on 10/29 – “how can you take the Bible literally?”

New runway – is it too short?

Date: 2024-10-22 AO: swift Q: bratwurst PAX: citgo, flipper, teddyf3, drive_by, Hippie, soft_pretzel, fleetwood, Wegmans FNGs: None COUNT: 9 0515 – launch from Towne Bank in Ballantyne & mosey by Loch Ness towards the only official greenway section in Ballantyne Corp Park and part of the Carolina Thread Trail. Run out halfway on the greenway section to come back to the junction with Ballantyne Corp Dr. 0525 – dynamic stretching 0530 – start 6min intervals at Threshold Pace (7.5 / 10 effort) done in Out-and-back style (all start together, U-turn halfway, finish where you started). 1min recovery. 0605 – head to COT 0617 – a little late back to COT…Cobains!
Billed as the smoothest, flattest, bump-free asphalt in Ballantyne, it seemed to live up to the hype with a moderately meandering and slightly rolling path. Although the 0.5mi length is questionable, for citgo ran out of room with his sub 6:00/mi pace over 3 minutes. The 1min rest was never enough…
YHC never said the brightest or driest section of Ballantyne Corporate Park, but neither seemed to impact the PAX too much that either didn’t bring a headlamp or didn’t dry the damp spots from a few sprinklers.
Great group out there that seemed to get the out & back pacing down after Round 1 when there were a lot that went out a little too hard. Of course the 1min rest helped with that to slow the PAX down on Round 2 (well, all but Gump that doesn’t like being passed), so PAX were finishing very close to the goal of back at the starting line. Notable exceptions citgo and flipper that seemed to negative split the back half of each interval.
Solid efforts from a group of teddyf3 fleetwood soft_pretzel that must have made a pact (or were simply pacing together) to never get passed on the back half.

Only 1 more week of Programmed Threshold Pace! Next week we will put it all together with a you vs. you 1mi Interval (rounds TBD) on a 1minute Rest.
That also means we are looking for a November Q! Plans fell through due to a PAX work schedule, so we need someone to take the reins. Pay is competitive! Signing bonus is amazing!

Run the hills

Temple Run

Our intrepid explorers, Hawkeye, Starch, Roulette, Road Rash, and Kirby, were led by the fearless archaeologist, Wild Turkey.
The Workout:
– The Boulder Dash: Running through Ballantyne up Bagpipe Hill – The Serpent’s Pit: 7 flights up and 7 flights down the parking deck – The Well of Souls: AKA Einstein Bagels to complete our mission.
The Aftermath: As the adventure concluded, we emerged victorious, our bodies weary but our spirits uplifted.
