Water by the Gallons

Cobbler tweeted me (is it “tweeted me”? That sounds….. weird) a couple days ago checking to make sure I was still set to Q this morning. Uh, what?! I was on the schedule to Q?! Well, had to come up with something quick. Thankfully, I found inspiration in the rain outside: have everyone carry water!
Initially, that seemed like a major challenge but then I thought carrying all that water would be a lot easier if it was in some type of container. So I bought a bunch of gallon jugs and was all set!

WARMUP

Invited all PAX to take a gallon jug, explained they had to take the jug wherever they went,  then started off on a short mosey  Back to starting parking lot for some quick SSH, IW, Windmills, Cherry Pickers, and Merkins.

THANG

Kicked everything off with a 20 minute TABATA: five exercises, four sets of each, 45 second work, with 15 second rest. At least we had some sweet tunes playing to distract us from the suck. The exercises were:

  • Burpees
  • Jumping Squats
  • Merkins
  • Side sprints
  • Dry Docks

Atlas astutely observed out loud from his mouth that although we each had a jug of water we hadn’t really done much with them yet. Too true

So we picked up our jugs and moseyed to the parking lot on the opposite side of the baseball fields. Stopped briefly for a quick 25 heels to heaven holding our jugs to our chests.  Back on our feet to the parking lot by the tennis courts where I had already identified six separate exercise stations. The exercises at the stations were: lunges, Mike Tyson, squats, shoulders taps, Peter Parker, and thrusters – added a seventh station for flutter kicks while the eighth PAX ran a lap holding on to their jug. Upon return of eighth PAX everyone rotated one station clockwise.  If your hands weren’t on the floor you were holding your jugs.

After a full round of that it was time to mosey back to starting spot with our jugs, stopping only a couple times for gas pumpers, flutter kicks, and an easy 50 count of curls, presses, and triceps extensions with the jug.

Once back at the starting parking lot we got into a Circle o’ Planks: where all PAX drop into a plank in a circle and everyone gets to pick an plank type exercise in a round robin.  Finished last 5 minutes or so in Mary then COT

Clean Slate Take Two

A new year and a new site. For those of you in the Indian Trail-ish area this is THE site for you if you want a boot camp workout Saturday mornings. Phenomenal AO with three large schools (elementary, middle, and high) all in the same location; we got almost 3 miles in and never even left the high school. And no, we didn’t just run in circles.  Not a lot anyways.

Twelve PAX posted to keep the initial “launch workout” from the previous Saturday going strong.

The THANG

We spent some time around the tennis courts, first to the entrance to the HS to do some Billy Blanks, squat jumps, and heels to heaven. Then back to tennis courts where we teamed up to complete 100 step ups between sprints. Run, stop for box cutters, then sprint to next station where we did alternating layups broken up by sets of 10 in-n-outs for a total of…. a lot. Run to next station for 10 sets of side to side jogging with 10 x10 alternating jumping lunges. Run to next station where we sprinted to the four corners of the parking lot stopping just long enough at each corner to do five burpees. Then back to our starting position. Our last station was 50 squats in sets of ten with sprinting in between.
Then we circled up and completed 250+ gorilla humpers as a team. Finished last few minutes with Mary

New Q with a Few

A lot of effort and stress goes into prepping for your first Q; especially when you’ve only discovered F3 two months ago and you have to follow friggin DARK HELMET from the previous week! Shout out to the PAX coming out to support me – including Waxhaw representin’

WARMUP

Mosey around ILES then back to starting point for SSH, IW, M.  Night Clubs, squats, and chest stretch.

THANG

2 sets of: bear crawls, 20 tricep dips, and 30 sun gods.  Then another run through ILES and back to starting point. 10 burpees on cadence – which was all jacked up cause some of us can’t count cadence on burpees but (most) everyone was smart enough to know what to do.
Then we followed a circuit in parking lot with each of the four corners having their own exercise: 10 Merkins, 20 Carolina dry docks, 30 mountain climbers, and 40 squats. For 15 minutes. And I honestly lost count of how many complete circuits we did…..
Finished with round robin of core exercises.

Apparently Brexit thought the new guy would take it easy on everyone and showed up in a tutu and ballet shoes. It was an interesting look.  But as an old boss used to say: it ain’t wrong it’s just different.
I think Atlas injured his neck cause he had to keep looking behind him on the circuit – he was so far ahead.  What a stud.  Hey, Atlas, I hear bourbon is a good muscle relaxant.
As for Posse, Cobbler, and myself we were committed to physically demonstrating all three F’s. Fitness cause we were, you know, out there working out. Fellowship cause we hung together and kept an eye on the six (ourselves). And faith cause we were praying to get through it all.  Kudos to us.

Seriously, thank you F3 for the opportunity and thank you, Happy Meal, for asking me to step up.  We missed you and Hope you all are well soonest.
