DATE: 2023-04-05 AO: -Maul Q: das_boot PAX: das_boot, Odd Job, Primus, Palmolive, Franky, Hippie, Luke Crabwalker, Olaf, patent_pending, super trooper FNGs: None COUNT: 10 YHC arrived at Tap & Vine to see about a dozen cars in the nearby lot but no one standing around. Had to check the day off the week and the time to make YHC has the Q … but that could speak to the fact that YHC has developed a poor habit of showing up about a minute before launch. Then the stream of cars — including an angry Canadian (who knew?!) — came rolling in.
WARMUP: Mosey to the Elm overpass for monkey humpers facing the incoming traffic. Unfortunately, the wall is a little higher than expected, so the plan was a bust. SSH and hillbillies to complete it. Mosey back to the front movie theater parking lot.
THE THANG: Grab the old school Connect Four board game, split into teams and play high stakes games where losers do 10 burpees and winners just 5.
Exercises while a team member ran to play their chip included: – T merkins – jump squats – pointer dogs – Supermans – LBC – CDD – alternating shoulder taps – deep squat hold – something else YHC does not remember right now
Black team won twice, red team once
Finish with a few more exercises and sprints.
MARY: OYO time
MOLESKINE: Apparently some non-F3 guy in a big truck was tailing Odd Job pretty hard coming into the parking lot and we learned to our surprise that Canadians can get angry! He kept an eye on the truck that parked behind Firebird’s and YHC considered a 45 minutes plank to keep an eye on all these cars already parked nearby and especially on OJs new arch nemesis. Considered but not acted on, so we moseyed for other options. Monkey humpers didn’t do the trick but a board game had some calming effect eventually.
Major fail includes the Q assuming everyone knows how to play this classic childhood game. Wrong. After just for turns — the minimal needed for victory — team red was dismayed to see the pair returning with the game in hand and a victorious black team member. Franky, what happened?! “What am I supposed to do? How do you play this game?!” D’oh! Turned out Primus wasn’t familiar with it either but his moves were more successful. So we planked for a primer on the game. We still did our burpees — some mercy but not complete mercy.
The other rounds went well and lasted a bit longer, with the second being a more epic battle. For the deep squat hold that YHC found on YouTube the night before, Primus informed us this is the horse 💩 position in India. Again we were fortunate that no one took that as a suggestion.
By this time, tempers had cooled but eyes were still on the mysterious truck parked behind Firebird’s and how the driver sneaked up the berm into the trees. The PAX delivered a strong effort this morning, both physical and mental. Good laughs and great to see some faces that YHC does get to see as often.
