Back to Basics

13 men showed up for this morning’s edition of Joust. Some expected ultimate but others knew it was time to get back to basics.

Mosey from the launch and around the track, COP in the center of the field:

IW x15 IC

Squats x 15 IC

5 Burpees OYO

Mountain Climbers x 15 IC

5 Burpees OYO

Mosey to the top of the bleachers to check out the excellent new CC playground equipment (you can’t hide money). Partner up.

Partner 1 runs to the blue door while Partner 2 performs called exercise and flapjack. 3x through Pull-ups, LBCs and Dips

Mosey back down to the track and around the loop to visit Grandma. 7s with squats at the top and merkins at the bottom. 2x through the speed ladder/high knee apparatus at the bottom of Grandma to show off our mad foot skills.

Mosey back around the track, find some wall at the bottom of the bleachers. People’s chair while the watching (critiquing) the PAX perform 5 burpees OYO.

Snake up/down, up/down, up/down the bleachers then at the bottom, 20 step-ups each leg, 10 derkins.

Mosey back to the launch and end with 5 burpees OYO

Moleskinny:

A veteran group of Joust regulars and a few new faces took the plunge this AM. Many were disappointed the LED frisbee was not in play for another round of ultimate (although Stone Cold brought several just in case) but we persevered. YHC even considered an audible midway through Grandma’s 7s to move back to the field and fire up ultimate as it has been a long time since the PAX visited that terrible relative. Limited mumblechatter due to all the heavy breathing but lots of hard work put in by everyone. It was awesome to get back into bootcamp mode at the AO that started it all for YHC. Appreciate the opportunity to lead and pray with this group of men.

Keep the BRR teams in your prayers. Good luck to all runners!

Sandbags and Starfish

I’m sure I’ve used this title before….because I know I’ve used my sandbags and starfish before…ha! Great workout today with a strong group. After secretly dropping off my bags in the parking lot, I hurried back to the lot, gave a quick disclaimer and off we went.

Quick mosey to the center of the lacrosse field, circled up for COP which consisted of SSH, IW, LSS, Merkins and Mountain Climbers. Commence the starfish: 10 merkins in the middle, run to each corner of the field and complete the exercise; 10 jump squats, 10 Carolina dry-docks, 10 RDL (each leg), 25 LBC. Plank montage to completion. Mosey down to church for quick suicide sprint to three islands with 10 merkins before each. Mosey to benches for partner work: P1 does various dips, derkins, step-ups while P2 runs around lot, two full sets. My instructions got a little fuzzy there, we had a veteran group so most were on auto-pilot as this is a Kevlar staple.

Finally we mosey back to lot where my six newly taped bags awaited. We broke into four groups for Grinders. P1 does bag work on one end (chest press, overhead press, squats, curls, good-mornings), P2 does exercise at far end (jump squat, LBC, heels to heaven, Freddie Mercury, lunges), P3 runs between each, switching off with others…a favorite of mine because the group is always moving, mixing up the exercises for a full body/cardio workout.

Finally we snuck in two quick sprints en route back to launch….and done.

It was a great morning to be outside. A little bit of chatter, lots of hard work and pushing each other. Manziel shared the need for more PAX to goto F3 Peru later this year (or January), get in a week or so, do some hiking and help some people desparately in need.

We’re all thankful for all we have and think of those dealing with Hurricane Dorian on the NC coast and neighboring states. Thoughts for our F3 brethren running the BRR today and tomorrow, may they be safe and swift in the hot humid mountains. Thanks Squid for the takeout prayer.

Wax On, Wax Off!

17 veteran pax and a FNG (Daniel Cooper aka Reseda) settled into the OPE parking lot for this week’s edition of Hydra. Kudos also to a couple of pax who recently joined F3 and decided to return and keep it up….cheers! As I advertised in my tweet last night, I am old, so Steepe had to help me locate “RUN” on my Garmin activities before we could get started. Thanks brother!

I offered a kickin’ disclaimer and asked the men to stay put as we would warm up where we stood:

Loosenin’ Up:

  • 15 IW
  • 15 LSS
  • 15 Plank Jacks
  • 15 MC

We moseyed to the intersection of Summerlin and Wessynton. I instructed the men to do 10 Heels to Heaven at each street light. I think there were 8. Stop at the intersection of Abbotswood.

We planked a little at Abbotwsood, then partnered up and ran the half pipe between the high hill of Abbotswood and the intersection of Windy Rush. Partner 1 runs one hill while partner 2 runs the hill in the opposite direction. Do 10 merkins at the top, then run back to the bottom of the hill to do hand slap merkins with your partner. Repeat. Repeat. Lots of cars interrupted us. Extremely rude!

The crew jogged back up Abbotswood and crossed Colony Rd. When we hit Lee Rea Rd, we did some mary to rest a little. In all my years of going to Hydra, I don’t remember ever hitting this street, so I thought I was pioneering. Hydra historian Gummy told me another Q had once taken this same route so I was playing second with the idea……seriously!….fact check? Jog to the bend on Lee Rea Rd which has a small hill at the end of the street Triple Nickel Time. 5 CDD’s at the bottom, 5 jump squats at the top….run it 5 times…..backwards. Lots of grumblin’ on this one.

Jog to the end cul de sac on Summerhill Ridge. 6 inch plank then pick yourself up and run AYG to the next cul de sac. Plank a little there, then run AYG to the entrance of the subdivision.

We moseyed to the Teeter at Colony/Rea and gathered ’round the traffic circle fountain. 15 step-ups, 15 dips, 15 derkins.

Fellowship jog back to the OPE campus and finished up with American Hammer and Rosalita.

That’s a wrap!

Moleskin:

We covered 2.85 according to my Garmin apparatus. Point was to try to keep the pax together as much as possible. Thanks to Queen, Gummy and Gloss watching out for the six. We dubbed FNG Daniel as Reseda because Daniel Laruso from Karate Kid (played by Ralph Macchio) was from the Reseda district of Los Angeles. Fun fact…..this summer by family and I were in L.A. and took one of those cheesey Hollywood Star Home Tours. Daniel’s apartment complex from the movie is not in Reseda, but rather Beverly Hills! Ironic, yes?

Things I noted today:

  • That white dry fit shirt Gummy wears looks like a cotton T instead. Anyone ever feel it? Not it!
  • Spackler said I “suck” today…..I think at least three times. It hurt a little.
  • I dig how Motorboat no longer says his name at COT, but acts it out. Brilliant!
  • FNG Reseda lives in the same neighborhood as Gloss. I bet poor Reseda has seen some things he can’t unsee while living there!
  • Sleepy has gotten fast!
  • Floorslapper didn’t disappoint and was the last to arrive during my disclaimer……think he has he ever heard a disclaimer from beginning to end?
  • Anything I missed?…..tag on below….

Announcements:

Think of our BRR brethren this weekend as they take on their 209 mile route! Be safe!

Thanks Hops for the take-out prayer!

Gummy and Sprockets, thanks for the opportunity to lead bros!

The Weather Is Here; I Wish You Were Beautiful

7 guys braved the very slight threat of Hurricane Doren to join me at Clyent Dinner. The weather tonight was awesome. Overcast so no sun. 15 MPH breeze that helped keep us cool. Maybe 80 degrees but the breeze and clouds made it feel much cooler. I wish every workout was as nice.

In keeping with the title, 6 of the seven guys that joined tonight definitely out kicked their coverage. The 7th (the lone teenager) is still trying to find the field.

I took a last minute Q after Bottle Cap begged and pleaded for help. Mostly because early on at the inception of Clyent Dinner I had committed to him that I would help Q when I could. 6 months in and this is my first Q at this site….whoops.

I had promised on Group me to keep it to 30 minutes of cardio and 25 15 minutes of gear. #FusedIt. Arrived 8 minutes early to find Honeycomb riding in on his bike. No, not a bicycle. His tricked out motorcycle that he only flashes at Clyent Dinner. Jingles arriving on Jingles Time EARLY?!! Tupperware rolled in. Out of nowhere Finch strolls up. I realize Honeycomb had never met Finch so I explained that when I started F3, Finch was the boarderline gazelle I was always chasing. Deceptive speed and endurance. Glad to see you back out at workouts Finch! 2 minutes to go here comes site Q Bottlecap with the cut off sleeves. Warns of a last minute Jingles entrance for Centerfold.

DICCS Given.

WARM UP – quick mosey around the parking lot (hoping I gave Centerfold enough time to join – I did not). I’ve got the late 90’s/early 2000’s Hip Hop playlist going. I lean over to Tupperware during the run asking if he recognizes the song (Its Outkast – So Fresh and So Clean). He think’s its Biggie. Kids (eye roll).

THE THANG

Light Pole Suicides. 5 Pulse Merkins on the out. 10 In/Outs on the return. I “think” we did 6 light poles before I called a recover. Somewhere during this work Centerfold decided to join us. I previously asked Tupperware and Bottlecap to run with the 20 lb medicine ball in hopes it would slow them down enough to allow the Clydesdales to keep up…..it did not.

Back at the start I called out Deconstructed light pole burpees. 20 each. First light pole 20 squats. Second light pole 20 merkins. Third Light pole 20 in/outs. 4th pole 20 Bobby Hurleys. Called a modify for the second set of light poles with a 15 count instead of 20.

Line up against the wall at transporters shed in Rudy position wall sit position. Group does below and above wall slaps while the first person does to medicine ball raises over their head. Then pass the ball to the right. Continued wall slaps and medicine ball raises until all 7 had done the medicine ball raise. I think we were all glad when that was over. My legs were burning and my shoulder unfortunately was too.

Line up back on the path for beat the Q. Sprint to the light pole. For every pax I beat, 5 jump squats. Jingles was on IR with limited sprint ability, yet still managed to beat me a couple times. Honeycomb gave it all he had several times to beat me but I did get him at least twice. Finch put in some work and beat me a couple times as well. I had to cheat get creative to beat bottle cap once. For those that have done this with me before, the point of it is to obviously get some extra work in. So I tend to handicap it as we go along – either starting before the pax or calling fake signals getting pax to go to soon and then sprinting past them as they walk back. Is it unfair – of course – but I’m the Q. We started out the sprint telling the group that the key word is “Go”. I proceeded to keep on telling them about the importance of only going on Go, not other words. After about the 4th or 5th time of me saying “Go” (and me slowly walking towards the next light pole) Tupperware caught on. “Wait – you said go” followed by a sprint. Other slick calls included “On your mark, Go”. “Ready, Set, Gopher”. And last but not least, another one Tupperware caught on to “Go for her” (instead of gopher). Anyways, I digress…we did a lot of sprinting and no more than 10-15 jump squats in between. Bottle cap hated my tricks (have we found his kryptonite?)

We arrive back to the car just in time for 15 minutes of gear. It was apparently too much for Tupperware who bounced early.

Grab a weight out of the back of the car (while we were serinated by Biggie). 30 lbs dumbells, 25 lb dumbells, 35 lb keddle bell, and 20 lb medicine ball were the weights.

10 single arm rows (right hand Finch) rotating weights each time for 4 sets.

10 single arm rows left hand rotating weights for 4 sets.

Military press ladder down mixed with a hold ladder going up. 10 presses, 9 presses and 1 sec hold, 8 presses and 2 hold. Down to 0 presses and 10 second hold. Apparently the 1 press and 9 second hold followed directly by a 10 second hold was too much for people. A lot of weights were dropped.

Triceps – several tricep extensions 10-12 each, 2 dip stations (20), and a 12 lb dumbell kick back (10-12). Pax did all 6 stations.

Biceps – 25 lb dumbell double curls. 30 lb hammer curl. another 30 lb hammer curl. 12 lb double curl. 35 lb curl. 20 lb medicine ball curl. I think we got 4 rounds in before time. Everyone got 10 reps in and rotated.

Time.

MOLESKIN

Cuthbertson is fun to lead at while lit. Adds a whole new element to the campus when you can see where you are going. An unused hill near where we part makes for some horrible hill sprints (which I didn’t use today but considered).

Not a bad workout considered 80% of it was made up on the spot. I had a rough plan – 30 min cardio focused and 15 of straight gear; but had no clue exactly what I was going to do to eat up time – other than the suicides that we started off with.

Thanks for sticking with me with the wall sit medicine ball thing. I had not even considered it would be down there with us and when it was, I decided we needed to use it somehow. It sucked worse than I would have thought it would. My bad.

Big push out of everyone. Finch giving it his all during sprints. Jingles going for sextuplet (wait, that’s what they do in Millbridge – pineapples or something right?) this week. Jingles kicking it into extra gear during sprints even with an injury. Bottlecap and Centerfold leading the charge – no surprise there. The big surprise for me tonight was that Honeycomb overtook Tupperware for third place during suicides. Apparently one to many queso’s while closing down Moe’s this summer (or in reality, some huge work put in by Honeycomb lately).

Hope Challenge. Bottle cap lead into this months challenge to share something you have or are struggling with and how you overcame it. I don’t know why, (maybe it was the small group) I felt compelled to speak up. I spoke of addiction. Not addiction of alcohol, tobacco or drugs; but of a lesser known thing that likely affects more people….Food. I’ve been big all my life. I was 145 lbs in 6th grade. 225 lbs going into 9th grade. At my peak before joining F3 I was 255. I’ve struggled with weight all my life. For some people, they eat food because they need it to survive. I eat because I enjoy it. I eat because I’m bored. I over eat. I eat bad foods and I eat too much of them too often. I have very little will power and often find myself grabbing a twinkie (or oatmeal creme pie) and coke on car trips that are over 2 hours. Exercise has never been an issue for me. Before F3 I was at the gym 5 to 6 times a week – lifting and running. I joke that I work out not to be a mens health cover model, but to not be 300 lbs. Why do I make these bad decisions when I know they are bad. I don’t know. I would argue I’m primed for weight loss success more than anyone. My wife owns a successful nutrition coaching company, shes a personal trainer. I literally have all the tools and knowledge right in front of me….yet I still grab that hamburger and fries instead of a salad (guess what I had for lunch today). Weight gain for me is the sad clown that is always waiting to jump on my back. In the past I have yoyo’ed as much as 30 lbs in a year. This past year after completing the weight loss comp I committed to trying to stay under 235 for a year. I have about 2 more months to go, but I am close to reaching that goal (though right on the line at 234.8 – that hamburger and fries for lunch may have done me in). As many may have figured out, I don’t do well at being “coached”. Many of you that attempt to constructively criticize just piss me off and come off to me as ass clowns that yell instead of motivators (I’m working on getting better at that by the way). Many of you have silently encouraged me throughout the year without knowing it. Seeing a guy run past me that I know I should be ahead of motivates me. I have Shake N Bakes external dialog internally all the time (If you have never worked out with shake, he calls himself fat boy a lot and yells at himself). So I’m not sure exactly what you or I are to get our of the Hope Challenge. I hope exposing a struggle I am going through (and have and will likely always go through) helps some of you. The gazelles have all checked out by now, but perhaps there are a few clydesdales like me that constantly battle that may get something out of this. If you ever want to talk about it, I’m game. Just know as Posse wrote in his 4 year anniversary back blast….the sad clown is always there waiting. You can’t put work in and then scale back. Its constant effort to keep that SOB at bay. If you see me struggling at a workout – feel free to give me an encouraging line….but better yet – run past me with all you got.

Breaking New Ground

Today was my VQ for The Floater and truth be told, my first post since the launch date. I love Waxhaw, and don’t live that far away, so its odd. However I’m blessed to have started my F3 journey many years ago, almost 6 to be exact. I have stayed true to many of the SOB and IL sites that I have known all these years and so The Floater was one I hadn’t been able to migrate to.

Sincere thanks to Deadwood for reaching out to me to ask me to Q. It was a great opportunity to meet some of the PAX at this amazing new Waxhaw Region of F3. Congratulations to all the leaders who have helped build this region – you have reached a lot of men with the gift of F3.

So to plan the workout I had to make a recon trip yesterday evening. Took one of my daughters with me (age 6) so of course we had to make a stop at the playground. This playground next to the skate park is a frequent destination for my family, usually coupled with a visit to Maxwell’s, Dreamchaser’s, Waxhaw Creamery, or all three. It was appropriate for me to incorporate this little playground and as luck would have it, Deadwood and the other Waxhaw leadership had recently gotten F3 permission to use it! (This fact needed to be confirmed about 25 minutes into the workout when the police showed up. Deadwood spoke with them and sure enough, use of the playground by F3 is legit!)

Warmup: Mosey to the small parking lot where the cupcake store is. (More on this later in the Moleskin.) 20 SSH, 10 merkins, 20 mountain climbers, all IC. While in the plank, do ~20 seconds of six inches + 10 seconds each of right arm/left arm high. Finish with 10 low, slow squats.

The Thang: Arrive at the playground where I had planted a few kettlebells and a couple of lanterns. Since we had 14 PAX, 15 when Posse came flying around the corner, we did seven stations. The stations were: pull-ups, supine pull-ups, dips, derkins, step-ups, and two KB stations of either swings or squats, and curls. We partnered up and the timer for each station was a called exercise for the partner not on the station. Either I or Deadwood would call cadence to stay together and we did: Bobby Hurleys, MCs, plank-jacks, flutters, LBCs, 8 count body builders, American Hammers, Freddie Mercurys. Twice we did a short run. We did two rounds at each station.

After finishing up the playground circuit, we moseyed to a hill which I understand still needs a name. It is shaped like a bowl, with one side in particular being pretty steep. First two times up the steep side, Q called an exercise and then said “go.” Went hard up the steep side and just recovered back down. For the third run, we ran the whole bowl and finished back at the skate park. Great efforts by the PAX on each run – it was tough!

Finish up with a mosey to Main St for 20 incline merkins, 10 jump ups, 20 decline merkins, 10 jump ups, 10 inclines, 5 jump ups, 10 derkins, 5 jump ups. Mosey back to launch, elbow plank ~60 seconds and… done.

Moleskin:

  1. We need to name the hill. 2. YHC made a total rookie move crossing Main St for warm-up, basically jumping in front of traffic and leaving the PAX. My punishment was standing by myself on the other side of the street for what felt like 3 minutes thinking about what I had done. 3. Great group who absolutely pushed each other through both the strength exercises and the running.

Announcements: Two SFN races coming up: Isabella Santos and Prostate Cancer 5k. Please not only keep this week’s hurricane victims in your prayers, but also consider giving and serving through “F3 Disaster Ops.”

Hey Lama….

“Hey Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know”……Well if the Lama ever showed up for a F3 workout, instead of us asking him for something at the end, he would be thanking us for introducing him to F3, and he’d be the one saying, “So, I got that goin’ for me, which is nice.” I think we all feel the same way with F3 as a part of our daily lives.

Some mumbling before 5:30 about sore body parts from the Monday workouts but since I wasn’t there (excusable absence), oh well, all body parts are fair game today in the weinke. DiCCs given, let’s get moseying.

Warmup:

Mosey across sidewalk in front of school, down entrance lane to far parking lot and circle up

  • 18 SSH IC
  • 9 Imperial Walkers IC
  • 18 Mountain Climbers IC
  • Hold Plank, 6 inches up and down a couple times
  • 18 Bobby Hurleys IC

The Thang:

Mosey back to playground by the jungle gym

  • 11s— 10 pull ups/1 Merkin, 9 Pull ups/2 Merkins, 8/3, etc…
  • Captain Thor- 1 Big Boy Sit up/4 American Hammers, 2 BB/ 8 AH all the way up to 9 and 36. *At Bushwood, we like to count to golf numbers, 9s and 18s seem more fitting than 10 and 20
  • over to the picnic benches, partner up for 100 Derkins, 150 Dips, one guy does the reps while the other runs a lap on track, doing 10 squats at mid point on track.

Mosey back across front of school to the Covered walkways and wall

  • Broad jump first covered walkway, Bear Crawl next walkway, Karaoke around sidewalk back to first walkway, repeat 3 times
  • over to the wall– 9 Mike Tysons, 9 Donkey kicks, run a lap around parking lot, repeat till time runs out. I think everyone got in 4 laps, BC got an extra one in because he was killing it.

Not alot of running today (your welcome HighHat), everyone covered between 2- 2.25 miles.

Mosey back for COT

The Moleskin:

I was a bit disappointed that I missed the Launch-vergence Monday although I can’t complain as I had some good family time at the beach for the long weekend. I tried to do my part on the road marketing our new region as I was sporting the new F3 Waxhaw shirt running down there as well as suffering through cranking out the Ironpax week 0 challenge. I certainly enjoyed reading all the GroupMe posts Monday about how great the day went. Congrats to everyone who played a role in planning, executing and just being there to represent the Waxhaw Pax.

So we only had two foursomes today at Bushwood. I figured attendance might be a little light after yesterday’s festivities but I did see there were 21 at Watchtower, which Dancing Bear was quick to point out to One Star. I’m guessing after Deadwood’s track meet mileage, some Pax wish they put on the collared shirt to travel to the other side of town. If you haven’t been to Bushwood, yes it sort of has a dress code. But don’t let that scare you off, maybe we can try to get the Site Q to allow sleeveless Hanes undershirts, then there’s a chance DB will make a trek to the other side of the town too!

Side note– I put some pull ups in the workout today and encourage guys to get back to a regular routine of pull ups, especially since many of us have bars at our houses from the previous Murph Challenge. November/Veterans Day is going to creep up quickly on us and we know from previous experience how important it is to get reps in ahead of that workout. If you didn’t participate on Memorial day, find the workout guide Zinfandel sent out back then and start following it soon so you can partake in Murph part Deux as well.

Thanks Twinkle Toes for leading us out.

Burpees For All My Friends

I love F3, and love to both push the PAX and be pushed. I sometimes have a tendency to call people out (if I do, it is because you’re cheating yourself). Sometimes I get called out (thanks Posse). Know it is always out of a desire to help you improve, which in turn helps everyone in F3 improve…

Anyway, back to the workout at hand. Given Chiseled is not your normal AO, and mileage is supposed to remain low, it’s always a challenge to develop a workout that makes the sweat pour down like rain. I teased 45 minutes of partner carries, thinking the turnout would be low, but to my surprise, the cars kept flowing in and we had a small mob on our hands. Already had to think if audibles and the DiCCS had not even been given yet…

DiCCS provided on time (thanks you Recalculating’s countdown)

Moleskin

  • Everyone pushed hard today and did an awesome job!
  • The numbers must be a result of the excellent Launch party on Monday, which is driving people to post more…
  • It was great to see 3 2.0s + 4 Respects in the same workout!
  • Post workout – Catfish tells me how much he’s loving F3 (has only been posting about a month). After his 1st workout, he ditched his cigarettes forever!! That is something to celebrate and be proud of brother! Keep up the good work…
  • Thank you as always for the invitation to Q – I love leading you guys!

Announcements

  • Pray for Dancing Bear’s friend who’s 1st child was born with a partial liver and is currently being treated.
  • Pray for Catfish’s friend who currently has no feeling on her left side due to a recent accident.
  • If you’re a leader in Waxhaw, step up and plug in somewhere. Leaders are needed in for 3 Fs. See a board member for details.
  • Speaking of leadership, Chastain and Brutus are staring a new AO. This will be a 0.0 gear workout on Friday mornings at Five Stones ( pending site approval). Templates will be provided, so Q’ing should be a breeze.

AMRAP audible

I decided last night to call an audible from the AMRAP due to the Iron Pax Challenge and the people still recovering from the convergence on Monday.  Weinke set and I roll into Dromedary a little before kickoff.

5:28 rolls around DCCS are given to 22 23 Pax as One Star rolls in Jingles style at 5:30.

Warmup:

  • Mosey to upper staff parking lot behind school
  • 20 SSH in cadence
  • 15 Imperial Walkers
  • 20 Merkins
  • Old Man Calf Stretch
  • 20 Mountain Climbers.

The Thang:

  1. Alternating every other light to the globe

  3. Mosey back around sidewalk staying away from the buses to the bottom of the stairs at the student lot.
    • Snake the lot (7 lanes) start with 1 Burpee run to the top bottom of the other side for 1 Big Boy, add 2 per row till complete. 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13.
  4. 2 minutes of Mary till time was called.

Moleskin:

I believe I said today would be a lower impact day than typical and to a point for about 5 minutes I was correct. There was minimal whining and I overheard a few people wishing for the AMRAP around the 9 and 11 Burpee mark.

The convergence was a huge success. All of us went out talked it up heading into Monday, lets keep pushing and sending invites out.

Everyone did a great job and worked hard. It was good to see some faces that we have not seen in a while, and hope they return as they have been missed.

Announcements:

One Star promoted Bushwood with the popped collars and sleeves optional.

Great work with Christ Closet – 4 truck loads

I took us out, sorry Zinfandel no photo.

Next Week Cake Boss from Rock Hill

SANDBOX PROM!!

What AN EVENT! For those that don’t know SOB Adopted the Sandbox as Partner organization that has allowed us to help those in need in our communities. Our F3 pax has done amazing things to help families over the last couple years. We have consistently maintained lawns, moved families, cleaned houses, built patio’s, built chairs, even coordinated a hospital visit and brought NBA player as an unexpected surprise for a young man not doing so hot in the hospital.

This year marks the second time we have been apart of their largest event of the year to support the families of Sandbox “The Prom.” Gents , let me tell you, this is not a two bit event, this is has a, pull out all the stops awesome entertainment for these families party. They got a red carpet, acrobats, DC comic characters, dancing, food, professional DJ’s, it no joke.

We get to be who we are, men that want to be servants to those in need. Our job was to help load up the families into the limo’s and buses before they take the hot lap around the Charlotte Motor Speedway before their entrance to the main show where hundreds of people are cheering them on. We, get to be the men that help to kick off the evening right, and we did just that.

Proud to be able to serve with those that could come and hope more can come next year as I think they will be asking for more support from us because we rocked it. We had one of our OWN as a magician this year. For those that don’t know Job is a professional Magician. I had no idea, not only is he good, he’s really good. They loved him! If you ever need entertainment for a Corporate event Job is the man. The rest of us did our thing, Jingles hopped off his flight and headed straight to the event with no hesitation jumped in on the unloading team. Snowflake learned to operate very sophisticated wheel chairs and ran back and forth in the 90 heat. Thin spent his birthday (happy birthday old man) running and coordinating as well. Blue Screen and his M cheered on and help off load. Dasher and I loaded while our NEW Pax member Pabst joined in the loading as well. Kirby texted me at the last minute and was able to join in. He was a life saver as we loaded up the couches with our Moreseville F3 Pax that help tear down (Had no idea they found another F3 Region to help) HOW cool is that!.

Last, we make it a point to write a BB for running around in the morning like a bunch of wild men but I can’t say that we are all that good at BB when it comes to community events. My challenge to all that lead these events is that we should share how awesome it is to do these events as well as being a part of them. I know I was blessed to be part of this event with my family and I am looking forward to the next time I can do it.

Track Meet

I decided to stray away from the traditional bootcamp style workout and run a bit. I also wanted to make sure that the 6 would not be left behind.

I rolled in around 5:27 and was greeted with, “Jingles beat you here”! Awesome, Jingles may have fartsacked if he knew what was coming?

DiCCs given, lets mosey!

Warmup:

Quick mosey to the bus lot, Circle up!

Forgot the exact order:

10 Speed Skaters @ bottom

Same concept. Run to the middle road and back, then back to the stop sign.

20 Monkey Humpers each stop.

Mosey back for COT.

The Skin:

When I told Bread Bowl we were about to run 5 miles I got a 1000 yard stare from the young 2.0. Each time we crossed paths in the gloom his only words were Deadwood I hate you! Nice work Breadbowl, you kept moving the whole time, I didn’t see any walking from you at all. Keep coming and you will get faster.

The usual speeders were upfront, Geber, Dasher, Hollywood, Easy Button and then Hollywood disappeared for a couple of minutes. Not sure if he wanted to extend the suicide length, was looking for the 6, or pulled a Rudy in a front yard??

In all of my 48 Q’s I have yet pulled a Hooch and arrived at COT late, why would the pax think that would start today!

A crowd of pax arrived at the last suicide point as I was circling back for the 6 and they proceded to head back to COT! My mind had so many questions! Was my watch not work? Could the not make it 1/4 mile in 5 minutes? Was this Bread Bowls dirty work? I have a few guesses but no proof! We rolled back into COT with 1 min to go, no problem. Trust your Q with the time until the Q gives you a reason not to. I don’t need reminders, alarms or Q jacking…I have all kinds of Audibles for that!!! Haha

The typical “everyone worked hard” is an understatement. There were guys that posted today that have never hit 3 miles during a run much less 4+, WELL DONE…and you’re still alive. I am a firm believer that pax need to get out of their comfort zone and today was the day. Running is boring, but it works. Well done!
