[ufo-ultimatefriz] Summer Frizz and the Livin’s Easy

Date: 2023-08-25 AO: ufo-ultimatefriz Q: MARTA PAX: Broken Arrow, Yeti, Nail, Shank, smokey, Paris, Wu Tang is for the children, MARTA, sweeney_todd, Pfeffer, Tebow FNGs: None COUNT: 11
WARMUP:
I arrived promptly to the parking at 5:05 neigh 5:10 AM to begin the last match of August. It became apparent my advice arrive early all stretched to avoid said football “players” was not heeded. I’m sure we can get field priority after next year’s donation drive. @BrokenArrow’s van was present, yet he was not – I assume his warm ups consists of some orienteering venture through the adjacent greenway.
The PAX arrived about 5:18 and teams were reluctantly set. Yellow consisted of Shank, Marta, Paris, Broken Arrow, and Tebow while Pink took the filed with Nail, Yeti, Sweeny Todd, Pfeffer, Smokey, and WuTang.  The temperature felt more like a cheap eastern Bulgarian sauna than that of a central North Carolina.
Warm-ups were half asked.
THE THANG: Match-Time Conditions:
5 v 5; Football+ outer hash The Match:
The match was a constant series of runs. Yellow went up early 2-1 and the each team went up 1 to 2 points only for their nemesis to claw back and tie it. Of note @Nail showed his burst speed with several timely d’s. @paris complained loudly and perhaps swore after several overthrown puts by @marta.. to the point that he reserved his cuts for other players. Pink was a well oiled machine utilizing their sub to their advantage. I saw at least 1 flick from @sweeney_todd. @shank remained on brand.
As i remember it…Yellow went up 12-11 with 5 minutes left. It was quickly tied 12-12 with @smokey throwing a perectly weighted forehand up the line over an outstretched arm for @yeti to bring down. Smokey remained humble and claimed it was accidental.
6:13 – a true ultimate point. Yellow drove the field but turned it over in the later 3rd. Pink returned but a untimely turnover allowed yellow to drive the field, force it down the right side line, and a narrow throw from @tebow to an outstretched @shank sealed the win. Pink had collapsed like the Atlanta Hustle in the playoffs.
final: 13 (@paris 10) to 12. yellow wins
Like @freshmeat… the footballers were no where to be found.

ANNOUNCEMENTS – Waxhaw labor day Convergence and breakfast – Microscope born – Blood and Brews – Future blood drive Oct 20 – Potential 2f opportunities during football season COT: there was one.

Cart Back

Date: 2023-08-25 AO: centurion Q: Hops PAX: Snuka, Preschool, snowflake, puddin_pop, lorax, Nair, Drumstick, grave_dancer, Johnny No5, Point Break, Rousey, Karen, thunder_road, Icarus FNGs: None COUNT: 15 Good crew at Centurion this morning including 4 pax I’d never met and 3 or 4 in their 20’s! I think this F3 thing is going to make it! So we did some stuff, including 51 burpee’s (YHC’s 51st birthday). We did not do them all at once? Why not, you may ask…cuz this old man can’t do but about 10 at a time, and that takes me about 4 minutes. We ran Cerberus and did some stuff on the 40 degree parking lot at the Natatorium. Rock work and some cash dashing at the Wells Fargo lot. Random comments: We did COP at the top of Cerberus. Old Mortimer the golf cart guy at Catholic High was up there…weird. Anyway, he starting driving toward the pax, and Puddin’ who was not doing the called exercise (shocker), called out: “Cart Back!” A first for him and perhaps all of us. I was tempted to jump on there with Mortimer as I was already hurting. That’s what you get when you’re 51 and only post 1 or 2 times per week. Gravedancer got the “Pebble Award” for choosing the smallest rock. Some of the pax learned some new exercises and lexicon…we’re going to keep this F3 thing going! Grateful for the pax. Not saying I wouldn’t have made it to 51 without F3….but it would have been a whole lot dicier. “Iron sharpens iron”. Ever heard that? It’s kind of one of F3’s slogans. It’s in the Bible, Old Testament/Jewish writings…bunch of wisdom nuggets mostly from a Jewish dude named Solomon who lived in what is now Israel about 3,000 years ago. Proverbs 27:17. Look it up. there’s some other good stuff in there as well

Stacking days

Date: 2023-08-25 AO: kevlar Q: Orange Whip PAX: O Tannenbaum, Orange Whip, Limey FNGs: None COUNT: 3 The general consensus this morning was that no one wanted to be there. Limey said that he hoped no one would show and OT said he had a few too many 🍺 🍹 🍷 last night and was hurting. I had 3 beers at Ghost Runner and I felt the same – but at the end we all agreed that we felt better for it.
Wide range of exercises hitting close to 3 miles. Missing many regulars today but a great crew and lots of life discussions.
Good discussion on stacking good days on top of each other leads to continual progress. If you feel like crap but still go out and have a crappy workout, that’s 10x better than the alternative of sitting on your a$$ and doing nothing. Do the next right thing every day and eventually you’ll notice the changes taking place. You never see your muscles popping after 2 weeks at the gym, but doing the same thing for 6 weeks and you’ll see huge changes.
Keep pushing boys.

Not really the gloom, is it?

Date: 2023-08-25 AO: joust Q: voodoo PAX: geraldo, baracus FNGs: None COUNT: 3 It has literally been years since I have posted at Joust. Back when I was a relative FNG in the middle of the last decade, Stone Cold made us sign a waiver before the workout, there was less asphalt and fewer buildings, and there weren’t a bunch of dudes playing frisbee under the lights on the field. Whenever we moved around the AO, I stayed slightly behind Geraldo so I could follow him to the opening in the fence, etc.
The three of us waited until about 5:31, then moseyed off for the football/frisbee field.
Warm up: Triangle up near the end zone for some standard F3 fare: SSH x 20 IC Sharon Towers x 10 IC Imperial Walkers x 15 IC
Mosey around the track the long way to the home team bleachers and grab a little wall for People’s Chair. The electrical conduit provided nice lumbar support. Around this time, Baracus mentioned that he went to the gym the previous day for leg day. #baddecision
The Thang: Start at the bottom of the bleachers with 10 split squats per leg, then run up the bleachers. 20 Sister Mary Catherines at the top of the bleachers, the run down. 30 bench squats, up, 40 calf raises, then down to the track for 50 LBCs.
Run around the track the long way again until you get to Grandma. Trial run up the mountain to see how it held up under last night’s rain. The verdict was that drainage was excellent, so 11s were called with merkins at the top and squats at the bottom. That sucked.
Mosey around the track and up the bleachers to the playground. No pull-up bars, so we went to the bench for 15 derkins/5 dips, 10 derkins/10 dips, 5 derkins/15 dips. We had to balance Baracus out a bit.
Mosey back to the launch for some gassers. High plank, run, low plank, run, belly, run, back, run. I won all of these, but Geraldo and Baracus didn’t really seem to mind. Or to try.
Mary: Glute bridge, dolly, one-legged dolly, plank until time is up.
Moleskine: > I was briefly the War Baby, which is a rare occurrence, but then the frisbee bros showed up (late) and I was quickly outmatched. With the frisbee guys, I think there were 14 of us. > Thanks to Ductwork for appointing me Q and to Geraldo and Baracus for coming out and being patient while I wandered around, marveling at all of the campus improvements. > During Mary at the end, we had a brief discussion about sweat pooling in our ears and whether it was possible to get swimmer’s ear from sweat. Google that and get back to me.
Announcements: > Waxhaw 4-year anniversary convergence for Labor Day. Get out there and support our neighbors. > Midriff is hosting the Homecoming 5K Ultra on 10/14 at Community House Middle School to raise money for the adoption of his son from South Korea. He’s running a 5k on the hour for 10 hours starting at 0600 and would love company for as many as you would like to run. He would also like money. Please contribute if you are so inclined and are able. > Congrats to Spyglass and his M on the birth of their son, who has been christened Microscope. #cobains
