Small effort to remember 9/11

Date: 2023-09-11 AO: firestarter Q: das_boot PAX: das_boot, kirby, Point Break, C3P0, Franky FNGs: None COUNT: 5 5 PAX began their day with a discussion that the proper name of the AO location is Jeni’s Ice Creams which is something you only care about when you charge $7 for a scoop of frozen dairy dessert. Then we headed out to work.
WARMUP: Mosey near the yoga studio only to be pushed to a different part of the lot when someone wanted to park right where we were even though the lot was completely empty.
– 11x SSH – 11x plank jacks – stretches – 11x low slow squats
THE THANG:
Go up the stairs, one by one, run to the far side for 9 merkins, down the stairs, 11 supines. Do that 3x total. On the fourth go, only go up to the step marked “Here.”
Head to the back of Target for deconstructed burpees at each of the 11 light poles:
– 10x hand release merkins – 10x groiners – 10x Bobby Hurleys
Head to the section across from the former New York & Co for
– 50x step ups – run to the other store for 22x big boys Repeato
-another 22x big boys
Back to the steps for 10 together and then 13 big boys together
Back to COT for about 23 burpees total and then 37 seconds of hollow man hold.
MOLESKINE:
The workout was planned to remember this day 22 years ago that, as Kirby said, feels like yesterday.
We did 110 steps by the yoga palace, 110 deconstructed burpees and 110 steps later to remember the flights of stairs in the Twin Towers.
We did 343 total big boys representing the number of fallen FDNY, 23 to represent the fallen NYPD and the 43 for the fallen Port Authority personnel.
For each of these last exercises and the final steps, the idea was to finish together because we’re stronger together. Especially these women and men of the FDNY, NYPD AND Port Authority were living 3rd that day and thousands of families would love it if their loved ones were out in the gloom this foggy, humid morning. Go out and make something of the day you have, and make it better for someone else.

SSH, Hillbillies, Incline merkins, squats, WWII sit ups THE THANG: track 4 laps with work at each corner: LBC X 20, HR merkins X 10, Jump squats X 10, Burpees X 5. One more lap with walk, back jog/front jog. Mosey up to lot, wall sit, air press, Cimbas. Calf raise/dip combo 3 sets x 10. MARY: yes we did ANNOUNCEMENTS: upcoming blood drive COT: welcome back @smash kotters. There was an early sighting of an aggressive slushy food truck driving through the AO obstacle style….we were all looking forward to see @jet fuel (but nada). It was good to start the week with a moderate one! #remember9/11

Hardest Ground in Ballantyne

Date: 2023-09-09 AO: stonehenge Q: war_eagle PAX: lex_luthor, Spitball, war_eagle, one niner, toejam, rehab FNGs: None COUNT: 6 WARMUP: Mosey to Campbell Soup building for COP of SSH, IW, PP, MNC, MC THE THANG: – Run up Bagpipe Hill stopping for 10 derkins on each side of bridge over 485. A preview of the workout was given in that we were going to hit various, rarely used parking decks with some of the best views of the Ballantyne Bowl and uptown. Instructions were given to the pax to enjoy the views once we got to the top of each deck. – Bang a left into 1st parking deck. Run up each level with 10 merkins at bottom and 10 diamond merkins at top of each level. (Q fail here for failure to scout out AO as there was only 1 level from where we started). At the top we did partner work of P1 bear crawl down the parking lot with a merkin at each parking spot while P2 ran down and back flapjacking several times. – On to 2nd parking deck between the new apartments and new office building. More partner work. P1 runs up 1 level, 10 plank jacks then down stairs. P2 does called core exercise then flapjack as we worked our way up one level at a time. Core exercises were LBC, pistol crunch LBC, H2H, flutter and Rosalitas. At top P1 ran a loop around the deck enjoying the sunrise and view while P2 planked. (This deck was deceptively high. Looked like 4 levels but was 7. This took longer than anticipated). – 3rd deck, on corner of Btyne Commons and Btyne Corporate was solo work so the thoroughbreds could get after it. Suicides up the parking deck running each level up and stairs down. 5 burpees at the start and 15 monkey humpers at stairs on way down. Due to time we were only able to make it to the 3rd level. That is a shame bc this deck would have been the best view winner. – Mosey back to launch taking the Lex Luthor advised shortcut through The Amp (which YHC attended the free concert on Friday and it is going to be great having that in our backyard). MARY: Some various Mary to finish last 2 minutes at launch. ANNOUNCEMENTS: – Midriff 5k an hour extravaganza. COT: – Toejam updated on his coworker who had a heart transplant and got out of the hospital in 1 month when the expectation was 3 months. – Lex passed along wise advice on forgiveness. Instead of wishing ill will in those we are holding grudges against we should wish that they have the best life ever. The blessings will in turn cone back to us.

YHC was untethered and freed up to pursue a customized version of punishment. We relived some of Joe Daniels’ greatest hits including the ever unpopular Tyler’s W Complex, which we quickly discovered only serves as a mental trick to forget you’re just doing copious amounts of squats. Nevertheless, the pax pressed forward and enjoyed mumblechatter a plenty. Great to have @posse join us today for the beatdown as well. softest ground in Ballantyne

THE THANG: A series of dips using questionable chairs from one of the establishments at Blakeney, then off to the playground for some clap merkins, pull ups, box jumps, and Australian pull ups.
Mosey to the 131 Main lot for 4 corners – handstand push ups, big boy sit-ups, archer merkins (right then left).
Mosey to the lot up AK for rocks with friends, including man-makers, shoulders-toes-knees-and-pain, standing rows, overhead press, and tricep extensions.
Mosey back to the plaground with the softest ground in Ballantyne for a series of explosive merkins to the point of failure. Did clap merkins, double shoulder tap (at the same time), and double hip tap merkins. One or two falls, no broken noses.
Mosey back to base for upside down story time – dad joke fail, then jailbreak back to base.

Mosey to rock pile for partner work. P1 grabs rock and runs around QHMS while P2 runs sans rock the opposite way around the school. Meet midway for 12 hand slap merkins.
MARY: Various Mary exercises called by the pax.

This marks the 2 year anniversary of Shield. It was sparked over drinks 2 F3 Dads Camps ago by PAX that live in Cameron Wood and Park Crossing. It’s been fun to watch and an honor to be involved with.

Frasier and Hairball enjoyed one last circuit of the hills of piper glen as the good doctor is in the final approach to the Rut in Montana. Gumbo and Dorsey were observed only by their cars.
