YHC made an extra early to the gym this morning on the 2 mile drive to Fat Camp with the following goals in mind:
Fellow pre-runner Fire Hazard met me for a quick 1.1 before we circled back to meet Bounty Hunter and wait for it….wait for it….HAGGIS. The man, the myth…the sore legged legend graced us with his presence siting sore legs from Savage Race as a cause for his return. Quick disclaimer given and we were off with Bounty Hunter leading the first half of the workout.

Mosey back to launch point after some distasteful music on my non-commercial free Pandora station and hand of to YHC for 2nd portion…aka Death to Legs via sandbags + sprints
We headed to the AstroTurf fields which were dirty as hell…lawn mowers didn’t pick up the debris:

Small group today, but a solid one that got after it and fit a lot in. Some showed up with weary legs and well left with even wearier legs. YHC appreciates you battling through the pain to give the workout a strong effort. Everyone took turns leading the sprints, although it was pointed out that my lighter bag gave me the advantage on the sand bag exercises…to be debated. Unclaimed coats remained at the playground with the absence of Kirby today. More announcements to come but here are the ones for this week:

YHC was cutting rope late into the evening last night while also trying to bottlefeed a clusterfeeding 2wk old. The gents joked this morning when I showed up with ropes “Oh, the M won’t let you use those on her, so you bring those out to use on us instead?’ yada yada yada…jackasses, although correct, still jackasses. 4 grizzled vets were boots on the ground at 5:15 and the music and boom box were cued.

Small group today, but the tunes despite no Taylor Swift inspired everyone to press hard this morning. Great work fellas
Gump – glad I saw you yesterday morning, getting your SWOLE session on. Strong work today setting the pace on the ropes and blistering the sprints. The strength work was right in your wheelhouse.
Kirby – always keeping the the comraderie high but knowing when to quit letting the Q BS around and preempt the start of sprints. Also appreciate you continuing to show restraint from stealing the Elementary kids coats from the playground and letting them hang around another week.
Bounty Hunter – cuts through my neighborhood today but was taking no short-cuts this morning on the ropes. Thanks for joining me in the no-glove club this morning. The hands are a little raw because of it but we all know “Real Men don’t wear gloves” hence on how we all made it into this world BOOM

Fresh off of a a leg smashing weekend at the P200, YHC turned down the pre-run option and invitation from Fire Hazard for this morning. Anticipating to show up early, set up and then knock out some pull-ups/merkins YHC arrived to see the chariot belonging to Paper Jam sitting in the parking lot. He was itching to pre-run so we took off for a quick mile arriving back right in time to start up the main event + pissing off Fire Hazard as I had shot him down the night before only to be swayed by Paper Jam. 8 normal PAX + 1 overachiever ruck sack wearing PAX (Bounty Hunter) hit the start button on a short mosey around the parking lot before circling up:

Perfect morning for a workout and appreciative to all of the bros that made it out of the fartsack for Fat Camp this morning. Since YHC is no longer able to bring buckets aka props to The Brave they needed to find purpose elsewhere and that place was Fat Camp this morning. As a reminder to all future Q’s, any GEAR is welcome whether it be buckets, plates, ropes, KB’s etc. feel free to mix it up and get on the Q schedule. Just make sure that you know the difference between your Cleans and Jerks and your Snatches and Presses to avoid uttering the name of an “at home only” style workout. Q SLOTS OPEN NEXT WEEK & BEYOND

YHC wanted to hit the Big House early to scope out the terrain and make sure it was appropriate for the planned workout. In the distance by the baseball fields there was another car sitting there. Curious as to who else would be at outside at 5AM when it’s below 30 degrees, YHC made a pass by to see a guy with a table and cone course set up in the parking lot and a “Gladiator” sign. While trying to read the sign YHC inadvertently ran over one of his cones and yeah, I kept going. Turf wars are on. I circled back to the launch point to see 6 PAX awaiting their Monday medicine. Quick disclaimer given and off we went:

YHC thought he remembered a hill from the last time posting at The Big House. The “Hill” was not quite as daunting as I remembered, however it did the trick for a backwards Bear Crawl ladder:

Definitely appreciate the invitation from Dumpsterfire and Cheddar to come out and Q the Big House. Hopefully your free workout courtesy of YHC was better than what Gladiator man was cooking up for roughly $30 a pop. Solid work by Tagalong and Shrink Wrap as they have been constants at this site and Fat Camp. Tagalong brought the speed on the sprints. Pulp Fiction didn’t even seem winded, almost as if he was down for another 45min. Great to meet Tool Bag in person, seen the name many of times now have a mug to put to it.

Typically, I’ve put announcements at the end of the backblast but in this case I definitely have an important one to put front and center. Transporter and the Union County PAX have been working to restore a house in Union County. The house is home to her daughter and 2 other grandchildren that she is supporting. She lost her husband recently and has also taken in a man that has been struggling. Her house is sinking into the ground and in need of major restructuring and remodeling. Transporter has put together a Go Fund Me Page and a Sign up Genie Volunteer page and is asking for support in the form of monetary contributions or labor. Visit the links below for more information on the project and TCLAPS to Transporter and the Union County crew for their work on this.

YHC was under direct order from the pregnant M to remove everything from the garage that I have not used recently. 6 buckets filled with rocks, sand, plate weights and probably mouse feces stuck out like a sore thumb and were on the chopping block for disposal, because Goodwill doesn’t have a GEAR aka PROP section yet. Quick on my feet, “I am using these Friday for my Brave Q! BOOM” Puzzled face and eye roll but I was in the clear to keep them, atleast for now.
Pre-run with Argonaut (dude has been all over the pre-runs before every AO) for a solid 1.1 and saw Triple 7 getting after it for some Pre-Brave miles (this dude has also been racking up some serious mileage)
Warm-up
AMRAP Thang Time
YHC had staged 6 buckets filled with rocks, sand, plate weight and mouse feces in a dark place. Veteran in security dealings, Fire Hazard; advised we stay away from using buckets on the main drive that runs into the putting green. Crisis averted, security problem resolved as we moved over to the lot.
1 lap around the Bull Ring and do all of the exercises below. Each subsequent lap around the Bull Ring repeato all the exercises below subtracting one exercise after each lap (moving from 8 to 1, ending the last lap with just the bucket carry/back pedal.
*Caveat, the below exercises can be done anywhere on the loop around the Bull Ring.
6:10, leave the buckets YHC will be back to get them (MISTAKE…) and mosey back to COT. COT was going great with Name-o-rama and getting ready to name an FNG until…Our man, the Chief Security Officer (CSO) pulls up to let us know he has found our “Props” and reinforce that he does not like “Props”….officially killing “Props”.
Moleskin
Our Security Officer friend calling the Gear “Props” reminded me of Ted from Billy Madison calling the Sh*t “Poop”. C’mon man…But, in all seriousness we are very lucky to have the access that we do to the AO’s and properties that we do and need to work within their guidelines to ensure that our presence is tolerated and welcomed. Therefore, it has being asked that Gear…props…no longer be used in any of the Ballantyne corporate areas/lots/decks etc and that we keep these items on the running trail areas only. Thanks Madame Tussauds and Fire Hazard for pointing this out and posting on Slack.
Strong work from the group of men this morning. Fahvra surprised us all by leading the pack and I didn’t confirm whether he actually completed all of the laps but my money is that he did. Mario and Soft Pretzel also pushed hard and were killing it at the front of the pack.
TCLAPS to Transporter for:
Also, mad props (no pun intended) to Pearl Jam for hanging tough and having the stones to make The Brave workout numero uno.
More props being handed out to Argonaut, MT and others for leading some Mary as YHC and Fire Hazard rounded up PAX at the end.
Appreciate Bus Boy and Big Tuna switching it up from Centurion this week and joining YHC. Although they probably saw Thin Mint on the schedule and figured that his 45min would be tougher than YHCs
Fire Hazard, appreciate you going to pick up the Gear (props) in an effort to help mend our relations with the Chief Security Officer (CSO).
As I mentioned, great work gents always and honor to lead. Keep getting after it! SYITG

YHC loves a good sand bag workout and felt like doling one out despite coming off a heavy Fat Camp Q by Argonaut the day prior. A 15-minute Pre-run was in order in which YHC had set a lofty goal to hit 2 miles in that timeframe. Bird Cage brought me down to earth and we settled for 1.25. Not 1, but 2 FNGs rolled up with their respective EH’ers (Tuck & Fallout). A bakers dozen it was, disclaimer given and off we went:

Solid group at the Arsenal today and working in partners really seemed to push everyone. I know that we joked about my poor choice of words “relieving one another” in the sandbag workout but it was good to see the PAX pushing through the sprints to relieve their partner doing the heavy lifting on the bag portion of the workout. Look for everyday opportunities to ease the burden of those struggling with one.

The ankle wasn’t having it this morning so YHC decided on a 0.0 mile routine for #F3FatCamp. The only request on Tweeter/Slack was for the PAX to bring “something” heavy. Luckily for us, Fire Hazard had a whole truck load of heavy things for us with the sandbag being the weapon of choice. It looked like it was going to be the 4 brutes getting after it, but as the rain picked up in came 3 more cars with a minute to spare.

YHC didn’t know what to expect for a group with the calendar striking mid-December and enlisted neighbor Fallout to join me for a trip out to UnionCo. The PAX in UnionCo seem to be unphased by cooler/damp conditions as we had 15 show up ready for action. Quick disclaimer was given “I am not a professional (although I look like one, thanks for the confidence Dasher) yada yada yada” and we were off.

YHC hit up the Ole Stonehenge this morning for a highly anticipated Alf Q. Definitely a scorcher with the Parking Decks and stairwells. YHC lost track of time and 40min burned by quickly. Figuring out that the launch point was over a mile away and I was on Q at 7AM led to a frantic dash back to the launch point and a 65mph drive down Rea Rd. YHC arrived at DaVinci to 4-5 cars dawning F3 stickers…However, none were there for DaVinci – rather it was the BRR group of Soft Pretzel, Gnard Dog, Overhead, and Beaker that had taken off at 6AM to maintain their soccer arms for 10+ miles.
YHC took off on a hot lap around the parking lot and caught up with Triple 7 zooming into the AO with Thin Mint just behind. All 3 of us weary legged and wearing on our second shirt for the day, it was GO TIME.
