Donut Run* – Preblast

*Best Wednesday workout that has donuts

Tomorrow, we are running the REVERSE route: Rea/Candlewyck/Providence/51/Rea. All right turns. We launch from the Dunkin Donuts at Rea/Colony.

Here is the route: https://www.strava.com/routes/7470827

Launch times and paces:
510: 930-9:45 pace
515: 815-8:30 pace
520: 730-7:45 pace
530: 645-7:00 pace

Donut(s) Run(s)

A solid dozen donuts runners slashed their way through the course. Some legitimate #highfives were exchanged with the Death Valley crew as they made their way to Davie Park. Every one of them was asking for donuts. I doubt Alf brought them donuts #Q-fail.

9 of the 12 stayed for donuts, coffee and chocolate milk afterwards. Much of the conversation centered around clothes. I was sporting my new FREE Lulu shorts that I won in their Strava contest. I will never pay $70 for shorts, but these puppies are niiiiice. Semi was ashamed to even sit next to me. Horsehead has no idea what a brand is and Tiger Rag shops at Wal-mart, which was a little surprising. I pictured him more of a Dean & Deluca and Orvis kind of guy. Also, Semi purchases 10 pairs of pants at one time #friction. I think he gets a bulk discount. Basically, we sounded like a bunch of women at a coffee shop.

The BRR was well advertised as 5 of us had their shirts on #EyesOnThePrize.

Donut Run – Preblast

“Per capita, Canada has more donut shops than any other country.”

This is unacceptable. I love Canadians, but I love donuts more. Tomorrow we will discuss how we can remedy this.

Start at the Dunkin Donuts at Rea/Colony.

We are running the REGULAR route (Rea to 51 to Providence to Candlewyck to Rea). All left turns.

Route: https://www.strava.com/routes/7470827

Launch times and paces:
510: 930-9:45 pace
515: 815-8:30 pace
520: 730-7:45 pace
530: 645-7:00 pace

Donuts with a side of Chocolate Milk

11 came for running and donuts. Horsehead was disappointed that the reverse route we ran did not mean we eat the donuts first and then run. Maybe we will do that one day.

After we repaired Tiger Rag’s Moab Jeep, we ran 6 miles. Swiper appeared to be running silent this morning at he arrived late and snuck up on TL, TR, and YHC.

Things I learned this morning from HH:
1. You can, apparently, purchase South African Boerewers (sausage) at a fine boutique shop in Stallings, NC that also sells lawn mowers. So, if I ever need to purchase a new mower AND some sausage, then I’m headed to Biltong USA.
2. He uses the “puncture and suck” method when eating a custard filled donut. The visual was too much for me.
3. Most people move out of the house for a few days when their floors are getting refinished because of the fumes. However, not HH. He makes his family endure the fumes. It makes them stronger, albeit at the expense of some brain cells.
4. He reaches peak merlot zone about 3.5 miles into the run around Davie Park.
5. He crushed the run and beat his goal this morning.

The MAF’ers were in full force today. It was great to have all of you out there.

This run is fun. Lots of different paces out there! My favorite person to pass on the run is Semi Gloss but he was not there this morning.

Donut Run

Valentine’s Donuts will be half off.

Meet at Dunkin Donuts at the corner of Rea and Colony.

We are running the REVERSE route: Rea-Candlewyck-Providence-51-Rea. All right turns.

Here’s the route: https://www.strava.com/routes/7470827

Launch times and paces:
510: 930-9:45 pace
515: 815-8:30 pace
520: 730-7:45 pace
530: 645-7:00 pace

Donut Run(ners)

11 ran the reverse route. The consensus was the reverse route is better. Good to know as we’ll be doing it again.

The fog was thick today. Felt very much like a 3am BRR leg. Note to self, where a headlamp. Thin Mint ran in for an extra 2 and passed everyone like they (or I) was walking.

Everyone stayed for some coffee and donuts. One of the discussions was around why would I purchase a dozen glazed for the pax and not an assorted dozen, which apparently is the same cost. 1. I didn’t Gummy was so against glazed donuts. 2. Same price? #gamechanger 3. You cannot go wrong with a DD glazed donut. Other topics, Map My Run is for old people, Ragnar is the new/better BRR, Gummy ate fried oysters last at The Lodge (FRIED OYSTERS), and other topics.

Quick explanation of start times. Why do we stagger the start times (earlier to later)? Ideally, we want everyone to end at 6:12. So, depending on how fast or slow you would like to run, you need to start accordingly to end at 6:12. In a sense, start with the end in mind and work backwards. If you feel like you will be too slow, don’t worry. You will have a running partner. Today we had people running paces at 8:50s/9:00s to 6:30s. Everyone had a running partner. Except Tolkein who should have started at 5:10 but started at 5:20 because of lateness. In the end, everyone enjoyed the run and then everyone stayed for coffee and donuts. It was a great time!

Let’s do it next week! See you all then!

Donut Run

8 ran and then had Donuts and coffee. Semi had a big gulp. Looked like coke, which is strong after a 6 mile run. Fletch ate some sort of sandwich. It was probably made especially for him since he has a close relationship with the employees there. I was told that sometimes he shows up before they even open.

Guys ran all sorts of paces from 845s to 6s.

Enjoyed it and see you all next week where we might do something crazy like run the route in reverse!
