The Game: Yellow immediately came out with the pedal down. No trades were made other than a Preseason waiver wire pickup of Shank by red. Yellow maintained a 2-3 score lead the majority of play, with occasional runs bringing it to 1 by red. Peaches has what is becoming a signature and lethal curvy flick, and he used it often today. Pink Eye continues to trend upward with another nice end zone snag. Bully Stick played some defense and may now have 8 fingers after a Shank deflection. Fly With Me put in some major sweat equity for Red, daring yellow to casually bring the disc up assuming no one is around. The matchup of the day was clearly Pepsi – RC. Chirping started when RC got a little handsy guarding Pepsi which lead to a turnover. With yellow begging for a foul call, red demanded that “the government stay out of the family” and let them handle matters the ole fashioned way. And just a few plays later, handled it was. Pepsi mossed RC in the end zone and celebrated with the ever-petty “showing of the disc” celebration, patented by Marta years ago. Rumors have it Pepsi whispered “who’s your daddy” to RC as we jogged back. The league is reviewing the footage for a potential excessive celebration fine upcoming this week. With red realizing the rules needed to be……modified…..to have a fighters chance, they started begging for a 6:20 stop, showcasing their willingness to forfeit the sanctity of the F3 standard stop time if it meant the slightest possibility of making a comeback. They would indeed get the opportunity, with two late scores & some help on a drop by Marta to pull the score even at 6:14. Yellow knew the mission, needing to drive down and finish it, and that is exactly what they did. With a seemingly effortless prance down the field, a Spy-Betty connection put the nail in the coffin. Ballgame.
