2 situps in and I realized Taco Bell wasn’t the best choice for dinner …

Date: 2024-01-31 AO: sacs Q: hoover PAX: wildturkey, Cheese Curd, Roulette FNGs: None COUNT: 4 Actually it was around mile 1.5 that I realized the barbarians were at the gates … and they weren’t happy.
APFT is a pathfinder requirement, with a passing score of 250+. In the Pathfinder program, you are encouraged to plan this and other required challenges out so as not be stuck at the end of the program with a to-do list you can’t accomplish.
So of course, YHC waited until the literal last day of the 12 week program to try for this Pass/Fail requirement. No do-overs, no resets. If YHC didn’t pass on the first try then the last 12 weeks of Pathfinder training would have been for nothing. Maximum effort.
So there I was at 0513 in the rainy SCMS parking lot, three pax staring at me expectantly with rucks and a sandbag. A question was raised about where we were running, the track or somewhere else? YHC suggested repeats on Strawberry, a suggestion that was wisely ignored as we descended onto the track. Here’s how it went down …
WARMUP: Walk to the track and talk about how we would rather not do this.
THE THANG: 2 mile run, timed. The SCMS lady who runs opposite our way on the track actually waved and said “hi.” Take that, Ghost of #chubbyhubby!
2:00 max pushups and 2:00 max situps in the cover of the SCMS crapper awning.
For extra credit, a 2 mile ruck out to Arbo and back.
MARY: no time for love, Dr. Jones. We went into OT.
The Results: Score: 250 / 300 Result: Passed PushUp Score: 90 / 100 SitUp Score: 81 / 100 Run Score: 79 / 100 Underwear: still clean
More than honorable mentions: Wild Turkey smoked the group with 60 merkins in 2 minutes. Cheese Curd smoked the run with a sub-7 pace, plus did EC while Roulette finished his last lap. Roulette completed his first APFT. Solid baseline and we convinced him to join the next Pathfinder training block. Get after it!
ANNOUNCEMENTS: Savage Race. Sign up, ruck it or don’t. But sign up and get dirty.
COT: I’m sure someone, somewhere did, but we were a scattered crew at the end. Time commitments in the AM and all. Many thanks to the rucking crew that supported me during the Pathfinder program. It was what I needed to not burn out on running post-BRR. SYITG and looking forward to the next challenge.
