COT: Near record, surely top 10, attendance for Swole today. @The_Worm asked what the occasion was, and I’m sure it was the promise of the playlist (https://open.spotify.com/playlist/23UVXumrgLfHoPlCNNidgf?si=ArNkJ-ZNT7GvS3dKjEjETg&pi=u-iCeGcSEqT_yw), though it could’ve been the workout. đŸ€”
Welcome to Hotty Toddy, a returning Charlotte native (unicorn), by way of Mississippi and Raleigh. Look for him to post again at an AO near you.

A tale of two suns

Date: 2024-02-04 AO: soccer Q: Orange Whip PAX: Pepe, National Treasure, Orange Whip, Scratch and Win, Brian D. Vessels,, Rolodex, Christmas, Victor Faraj, Mile High, Oscar Huerta, Josh, Matt, Kellen, Brody, , Coco FNGs: 1 Coco COUNT: 15 What a day. Cold but sunny. Fields were slick with ice from the start but we adjusted.
Competitive, a little chippy (in an F3 sense) and all around two good matches. The side with the sun in their face lost both matches pretty decidedly so we can say that is a factor.
Rolodex was back which was nice and claimed he was out of shape and then would show us that quick first step.
After a few easy goals for our team Victor and Christmas turned up the intensity quickly.
Missed Tolkien and Simba but good luck with their matches today
NT went down late with a hammy and the 2nd game really fell apart after that. Get well 🙏
Some awesome goals today by Brian, Christmas, Matt and Rolo from far out.
Update: Josh still has never one-touched a ball in a match
Until next week

Toast to the Birthday Host đŸ»

Date: 2024-02-04 AO: davinci Q: frehleys_comet PAX: Odd Job, soft_pretzel, lex_luthor, Jared Warren, war_eagle, commish, strange_brew, markettimer, Roulette, fritzscoot, Mr. Bean, ToeJam, wildturkey, kirby, goonie, Chopper, Palmolive, tagalong, teddyf3, fire_hazard, madame_tussauds, Farmer Dan FNGs: None COUNT: 23 SoB and A51 showed up in force for a 48ish minute boot camp and gear workout convergence. Happy Birthday Frehley’s and thanks for the positive impact you’ve had on so many PAX you knew and had never met!
The OG showed he knew how to expertly manage a large group of rowdy PAX, keeping everyone in line and together. Mumblechatter started before launch. The Q was called out for making things up as he went along about 10 minutes in. Some good 2nd F during a well-planned 12 station circuit. A bunch of middle aged men played on a playground. đŸ’© towels and đŸ„ƒ handed out to cap off a great Saturday morning with brothers from other mothers.
WARMUP: Mosey to Chase parking lot for increasing burpees (1-5) with called exercises like SSH, Hillbillies, cliffhangers, and toy soldiers.
Complaints started immediately.
THE THANG: Go to Jeni’s for a circuit of dips, step ups, derkins, incline merkins, and laps around the fountain.
Head to the lot in front of Old Navy for 3 rounds of 12 stations. PAX split into groups and did SSH, Mary Catherine Gallagher’s, should taps, wide merkins, high knees, side squats, H2H, diamond merkins, burpees, jump squats, LBCs, and merkins. 10, 15, then 20 reps per round.
The completion of exercises was questionable.
All groups meet in the middle for some Mary with box cutters, flutter, Dollys, and Freddie Mercs. Go to the stairs to give the yoga ladies a show with 2 rounds of hand slap merkins and jump squats with a partner.
Everyone goes to the playground and it’s pandemonium for about 5 minutes before return to launch. Suicides, people’s chair, and arm raises to burn up the last few minutes.
MARY: Throughout the workout
ANNOUNCEMENTS: Sing happy birthday
COT: Joined by the Olympus crew and some chicken runners. Frehley’s took us out.

Tribute to a Hair Metal Legend

Date: 2024-02-03 AO: olympus Q: Krzyzewski PAX: voodoo, MARTA, flipper, Wabbit, The Worm, mighty_mite, Mountain Momma FNGs: None COUNT: 8 Although bleary-eyed from an earlier start, the pax were greeted with intense commercial parking lot lighting to kickoff the convergence with DaVinci this morning that could have easily restored the eyesight of Saul of Tarsus. A far cry from the bleak accommodations of the Calvary tundra, indeed. More than 30 pax strong came out to celebrate the 60th birthday of our one and only Frehley’s. Some long running mumblechatter at the outset pushed us a few minutes behind, but YHC’s quickened cadence caught us up in no time. Great to see the pax continuing to push themselves with higher weights as we work our way through the hypertrophy program. We’ll return to our normal program next week (including a more even keeled playlist devoid of any ska!), but it was a great change of pace this morning that somehow ended in sipping (shooting?) a high-brow, tasty mezcal at 7:30am compliments of the Worm. Let’s get into the recap… WARMUP: 10x swings, prying squats, 5x high-pulls (e/s), synovial circles, 5x one-handed swings (e/s) THE THANG: 1) Fibonacci A – Lawnmowers 3x/5x/8x for three sets (e/s) – Goblet squats 3x/5x/8x for three sets 2) Fib. B – Heavy swings 3x/5x/8x for three sets – Explosive merkins 3x/5x/8x for three sets 3) Carries – Single-Bell Rack (20 paces / 30 / 50 alternating) (2 sets) – Suitcase (20 paces / 20 / 50) 4) EMOM (6 min) – Minute A: Transformer squats (5x e/s) – Minute B: Cleans (4x e/s) 5) Fib-ish Complex Single-arm Press (3x); Snatch (5x); SLDL (8x) (2 sets) MARY: – Louganis (10x) – Anchored leg raise (10x) – Demoncrushers (10x) ANNOUNCEMENTS: – Happy Birthday, Frehley’s Comet! – Madison’s 2.0 partnered with the Jamie Kimble Foundation for Courage for a 5K on March 9th – Probably a blood drive around the corner…MARTA will blast details soon enough! – A quotation I’ve been meditating on this week should help serve as some fierce ammo to help banish the cozy charms of the fartsack on these cold mornings: “Verily the lust for comfort murders the passion of the soul, and then walks grinning in the funeral.” – Khalil Gibran Ice cold reminder to get up, face the frosty obstacles, and go do hard things this week. COT: Frehley’s led us in a prayer to take out the 30+ pax

Fat Yoga

Date: 2024-02-02 AO: kevlar Q: Orange Whip PAX: Cheese Curd, ChickenWing, Rudy, Erin Brokavich, Orange Whip FNGs: None COUNT: 5 Lots of aches and pains from this crew as it seemed we all had a rough workout week.
Made it relatively moderate but tried to push a little harder at the end since Curd decided to make the long 11 minute haul from Rea Rd.
– Across street – man makers + scorpions at bottom and top of hill 3x – Rock work – ran into hobo joe sleeping in the pavilion which is kind of like finding a raccoon in your trash can
you’re not sure if he’s scared or if he’s going to try to bite you. Modified to a non-skid row locale and did 4 exercises with 1 runner – went to field to try the turf
didn’t feel like making it a wet morning so we just did some bear crawls and left -burpee ladder – ab finish
Chicken Wing has been going to Crunch fitness to partake in the yoga which apparently is “all fat women”. This is his way of saying he’s not taking yoga to look at yoga booty but to actually stretch
hmmmm okay
No alcohol this month has seemed to help everyone except for Erin Brock who said he hasn’t slept all month đŸ€·â€â™‚ïž
Lots of job loss, death and illness around the world and we prayed for that and also two CSAUPs for Gremlin 17th and Exlax tomorrow in Mint Hill and Waxhaw respectively who both passed in the last couple of years.
Awesome convos and a fun morning with some good dudes.

Ground Hog Day (Holiday or Movie)

Date: 2024-02-02 AO: mountain-goat Q: Spammer PAX: retread, wildturkey, hairball FNGs: None COUNT: 4 Lots of fart sacking for today’s Mountain Goat despite a fan favorite (Wood Chipper) being on the table. Started with a warmup to the end of Strawberry and back to the track for some dynamic stretching. The main even was the wood chipper which is two laps around the track followed by a run to the end of Woodfox and back. Repeat as many times as possible until time is called. Most pax completed three full cycles. @Hairball was also seen running the track but doing his own thing. @Sledge met us for coffee afterwards.
