These are a few of my favorite things

Date: 2025-03-23 AO: soccer Q: Orange Whip PAX: Joshee10, jrr_tolkien, Christmas, Mile High, BobbyFischer, National Treasure, Kellen Dargle, Jose Quintanilla, Jose Varela, Orange Whip, Brian D. Vessels,, Brody, Kalel, Aiden, Pearce, FNGs: None COUNT: 15 Great morning of 8v7 soccer.
Continuing with the musicals title trend for this Slackblast, this Julie Andrews classic just felt right for a perfect morning of extremely close footy.
Both teams seemingly had equal possession of the ball, especially whichever team had Josh. He had a good morning with several big goals.
Christmas had another highlight reel goal, pinching the ball through 3 defenders for the score.
Pearce controlled the middle of the field as usual and went up, and beat out the young bucks on many occasions. Notably on a chase down with Kalel where Pearce clearly had the greater breakaway speed…or perhaps desire.
National Treasure had a few rare header misses but several solid opportunities, typically off of Christmas crosses. He’ll be back to redeem those next week.
Kellen blocked at least a dozen goals, several with his head, namely two of mine that I was very excited to see go in the goal but were not meant to be.
Jose Q had some amazing stops in the back as well.
Great to see the young boys back out to push the pace as well as Papa Brian who always brings good energy to the pitch.
It’s been great to see Bobby Fisher become a regular again bringing balance and guidance to the team…and reprimanding Josh whenever necessary.
Numbers moving back up along with the temps :fire:
See you next week!

6 pack on a Monday

Date: 2025-03-24 AO: chubby-hubby Q: hoover PAX: baracus, ductwork, turkey_leg, Spammer, Day-Z FNGs: None COUNT: 6 WARMUP: stand around and talk about Hoover’s (not new, but not his) ride. Ask if anyone is running Horsey. No one did.
THE THANG: like Norm walking into Cheers, it’s the usual out and back.
Geraldo and YHC had a long run yesterday. That was 3 days in a row for Geraldo and he needed a rest day today. However, he also told the lonely Turkey Leg that he would join him for this week’s episode of chubby hubby. Enter YHC, who needed motivation to get up and run this AM. That motivation was directed to the pax via Slack yesterday and we were 6 strong this morning. Well done, men.
MARY: if she was there, we never saw her
ANNOUNCEMENTS: WTF, blood drive, BRR, holiday party
COT: baracus has the take out

No Frisbees No Pinnies No Problem

Date: 2025-03-21 AO: ufo-ultimatefriz Q: Spyglass PAX: Spyglass, Shank, Mayo, Broken Arrow, Steve Hall, Pipes, Yeti, Chubbs, Paris, Crawdad, Smokey, David Baker, Fruity Pebbles, biden, Pink eye FNGs: None COUNT: 15 (Winner) Light Shirts: Mayo, Chubbs, Fruity, Yeti, Fresh, Pinkeye, Broken Arrow
(Loser) Dark Shirts: Spyglass , Shank, Biden, Paris, Crawdad, Smoky, Fly With Me, Pipes
Morning started with about 4 PAX staring at one another on the dark field with no discs in sight. After the stragglers started to crest the hill, we decided to do the thang. As we wondered how to go out no pennies, Fresh needed very little prompting to tear off his shirt and suggest a nippy (pun intended) shirts vs skins game like the old days. PAX courageously negotiated to get Fresh back clothed again, and a Dark vs Light shirts game ensued.
The game: Chubbs took a new approach of looking over many options until about Stall 8 before finding an open teammate, attempting to steal the morale from his defenders. Smokey was more concerned about who the Vols were playing in the Round of 32 including requesting a full scouting report of UCLA and their first game.
Shank had some slippage once again. He seems to have fully jumped ship now from the “I don’t need cleats to be better than you” and is now unashamedly campaigning for a new cleat NIL deal.
Close game all the way through. Upon “universe point” call, Dark shirts had the disc down in the red zone only to run into stifling goal line D. From there, White Shirts seamlessly march down the field and punched it in for the W.
COT Paris got the 2nd worst text a man can get (aside from the dreadful “I’m fine” text). It read: “He has been up since you left.” Translation: get you a** home right now, I’m tired.
Fresh held up his end of the new Coffee & Donut segment with Marta and Fresh.
Chubbs leading bracket challenge after day 1 Video shoutout from B&R. Friz Files (YTD records) release teased. Prayers for Fly’s old roommates daughter.

Confusion makes for the best beatdowns

Date: 2025-03-21 AO: the-brave Q: flipper PAX: midriff, teddyf3, fire_hazard, Franky, kirby, soft_pretzel, Taco_Stand, frasier, Hippie, Icarus FNGs: None COUNT: 10 YHC doesn’t do bootcamp anymore, but in order to acheive the vaunted “6 Qs in a week” I needed a Friday Q and fire_hazard was kind absent minded enough to give me Franky’s slot for this morning (admittedly unintentionally). As a result at 0517 this morning YHC was sitting in the truck finalizing a route and plan for a 45 minute bootcamp (more on that later). By 0530 7 PAX were standing in the gloom awaiting launch while a late-arriving kirby climbed out of his car. By 0531 we were off, heading west on Community house.
WARMUP: Jog to the parking lot adjacent to the final deck before Upper ave. SSH, LSS, Low Slow Merkin (Slerkin), Windmill. Here we said goodbye to Kirbasaurus who wasn’t as recovered as he thought he was and pulled the ripcord. Feel better brother! THE THANG: The PAX ran Upper, through the bowl to the bull ring then over to Ballantyne Commons. Along the way we stopped for Jump Squats, Merkins, Explosive Slow Merkins, Reverse Lunge knee raises, lunges. As we moseyed up the hill on Ballantyne Commons YHC mentioned we were tight on time to soft_pretzel who basically said “this goes to 630 idiot dolphin” (he’s a mean one that pretzel). Really? Who starts an hour long workout at 0530?!? Anyways, this bolt from the blue resulted in an audible to add some parking structure work. Off we went to the basement of the deck and then up the stairs for some people’s chair. Down the ramps and head back to launch…. 5 minutes late. Better than 15 minutes early I guess?
frasier and Hippie joined us at the top of the deck and for the mosey home.
MARY: some along the way with assorted planks, shoulder taps, and the PAX favorite Shoulder Tap – Thigh Slap ANNOUNCEMENTS: WTF, Blood drive COT: YHC took us out
Thanks again to fire_hazard and Franky for making space for my chase of stupidity.
