Smokey showed up at 5:15 with zero intentions of playing frisbee. Took a 15 minute detour on the way to the gym (rehabbing a shoulder/knee) simply to look fellow PAX in the eye and tell them to have a day. Smokey’s livin right, no doubt about it. As lights turned on, it illuminated Bulleystick appearing to do the pregame routine of Ray Lewis. We woke up ready to grind…no excuses…except for the shoulder boo boo of course, but that’s neither here nor there.
The Game: Teams were absolutely stacked this morning in favor of red, calling into question the integrity of Vicky’s “1-2-1-2” count off (mind you with no stretching involved). He had no shame, even “re-counting off” when he initially didn’t think teams were stacked enough to his liking. Red came out doing their job, up 7-1 before a Bullystick-Peaches trade was made in a panic move by yellow to keep their fanbase engaged. After various threats of fines for any sort of tanking noticed, yellow started to giddy-up and show some signs of life. At one point, the lead was a mere 3 points. Marta has strong hands, I learned, but it’s a bit of an AJ Brown situation where he was clearly disgruntled with not getting the disc on a few wide-open runs. The two are likely to part ways this offseason. Crawdad through a laser tuddy. Wario & Betty connected on an impressive one handed tuddy. Shank reminded everyone that he’s still HIM be throwing a season long 60 yard tud. Bully was picked and yellow was called for targeting on the play. Red proved to be too much for yellow to handle down the stretch, getting lead back up around 6 for the remainder of the game. The only thing keeping PAX engaged late was the Peaches – Bulley matchup of who was going to win the post-trade game within the game and get the coveted W in the spreadsheet. Red hustled it out to secure it for ole Peaches.
Postgame: Prayers for Vicky’s brother in law who is serving in the Middle East right now, and his family who was sent back to the states. Prayers for Betty’s friend who is grappling with her faith right now. Update on Brainiac – started putting weight on the leg again for the first time in a few months. Update from Slumdog – also in good spirits and already planning a fall “comeback player of the year” run.
