Date: 2023-08-25 AO: joust Q: voodoo PAX: geraldo, baracus FNGs: None COUNT: 3 It has literally been years since I have posted at Joust. Back when I was a relative FNG in the middle of the last decade, Stone Cold made us sign a waiver before the workout, there was less asphalt and fewer buildings, and there weren’t a bunch of dudes playing frisbee under the lights on the field. Whenever we moved around the AO, I stayed slightly behind Geraldo so I could follow him to the opening in the fence, etc.
The three of us waited until about 5:31, then moseyed off for the football/frisbee field.
Warm up: Triangle up near the end zone for some standard F3 fare: SSH x 20 IC Sharon Towers x 10 IC Imperial Walkers x 15 IC
Mosey around the track the long way to the home team bleachers and grab a little wall for People’s Chair. The electrical conduit provided nice lumbar support. Around this time, Baracus mentioned that he went to the gym the previous day for leg day. #baddecision
The Thang: Start at the bottom of the bleachers with 10 split squats per leg, then run up the bleachers. 20 Sister Mary Catherines at the top of the bleachers, the run down. 30 bench squats, up, 40 calf raises, then down to the track for 50 LBCs.
Run around the track the long way again until you get to Grandma. Trial run up the mountain to see how it held up under last night’s rain. The verdict was that drainage was excellent, so 11s were called with merkins at the top and squats at the bottom. That sucked.
Mosey around the track and up the bleachers to the playground. No pull-up bars, so we went to the bench for 15 derkins/5 dips, 10 derkins/10 dips, 5 derkins/15 dips. We had to balance Baracus out a bit.
Mosey back to the launch for some gassers. High plank, run, low plank, run, belly, run, back, run. I won all of these, but Geraldo and Baracus didn’t really seem to mind. Or to try.
Mary: Glute bridge, dolly, one-legged dolly, plank until time is up.
Moleskine: > I was briefly the War Baby, which is a rare occurrence, but then the frisbee bros showed up (late) and I was quickly outmatched. With the frisbee guys, I think there were 14 of us. > Thanks to Ductwork for appointing me Q and to Geraldo and Baracus for coming out and being patient while I wandered around, marveling at all of the campus improvements. > During Mary at the end, we had a brief discussion about sweat pooling in our ears and whether it was possible to get swimmer’s ear from sweat. Google that and get back to me.
Announcements: > Waxhaw 4-year anniversary convergence for Labor Day. Get out there and support our neighbors. > Midriff is hosting the Homecoming 5K Ultra on 10/14 at Community House Middle School to raise money for the adoption of his son from South Korea. He’s running a 5k on the hour for 10 hours starting at 0600 and would love company for as many as you would like to run. He would also like money. Please contribute if you are so inclined and are able. > Congrats to Spyglass and his M on the birth of their son, who has been christened Microscope. #cobains
