The parking lot wasn’t empty at Marvin Ridge HS at 0510 this morning when the Q arrived, but only one PAX was still hanging around the cars. Eventually, 45 PAX set off at 0530 and performed the First annual Dromedary 77.0 Tri.

Head out for long Mosey, and Q sheds a layer.
Mosey through the bus lot to the soccer practice fields. Circle up at the center circle for the opening circle of pain.
Run Over to Soccer goal, find a group of 3 for 3 man Grinders. 1 man stays to do exercise, 2&3 run to far side of field, 2 stays at other side and does same 1st exercise, 3 runs back across to relieve 1. Keep the grind going. Exercises were:
Mosey toward globe and down side of high school. Leaders do 10 LBCs at each light post while 6 catches up. The 6 can just keep running if they want. Regroup back in Main Lot with LBCs.
Slalom run through the middle island around the crape myrtle. Regroup at the railings entering the stadium in a plank with some space between you and the next man.
On the railings packed line sardines:
Back out to parking lot near launch point and circle up. Got a little hazy here. Think I’m missing something:

First backblast from my phone. If you’ve seen either my thumbs or my phone screen lately, you will know that I am at an extreme handicap. Expect typos and brevity. Still, the site works great on my phone and works pretty damn great everywhere. We’ve said it before, but don’t say it enough — big t-claps to Wingman for all the behind the scenes work keeping this stuff going and getting better. T-claps as well for a few sprints up the hill today when Wingman made us all feel like we were standing still.
Cold Cuts crushed it today as well and was tough to keep up with. Deuces showed some speed too and made it back to COT in time without Cheddar, Arsenal & Kirby certain unnamed individuals getting him lost. Hard work everywhere today. Still on a Ragnar running hangover myself, the goal today was upper body work. That hill up to the playground is sneaky hard though and hurt more than intended. Oh well.
There was no music today. Probably should have been. Rock & Roll just sounded better than Rock & Run. #falseadvertising. Cobains to the female jogger who was confronted with 20 sweaty men emerging from the woods carrying (some) large(r than others) rocks. No one got maced, so our friendly “good morning” greetings must have done the trick.
Love Qing & attending workouts at Stonecrest. So much variety and stuff to choose from. Come to The Maul or Rebel Yell sometime or more often. You’ll be happy you did.

7 PAX made the smart move to stretch themselves mentally and physically at Gumby this morning. Given the recent change in weather, I’d like to point out that Gumby is indoors at Ye Olde Scout Hut.
Lighting: Flourescent. No #BambiLamp this morning
Music: Avett Brothers Radio on Pandora, piped through my small bluetooth speaker
Devotional: Verses covered this morning: Proverbs 27:1-2. Yesterday, I was tasked with leading a devo for the kids at Learning Help Centers of Charlotte, where I volunteer as a tutor once a week. While the devo was based on F3 Nation’s favorite verse, Proverbs 27:17, I kept glancing up at the first two verses in the chapter. Looking first at verse 2, I was reminded that we should not only be motivated to do the right thing, but, we should do the right thing for the right reason. Check your heart as you think about your motives for doing anything. Like, with these kids I tutor — am I doing it so I can tell the Gumby PAX about it and get a pat on the back, or am I doing it in a #ISI effort to help these kids get better? If you are getting too full of yourself in such endeavors, backtrack to verse 1 to get a slice of humble pie, as it demonstrates how much we know versus how much God knows.

Corpse pose / Devo
Knees up toward 6, do a series of 5 bridges, holding each time, trying to get a better stretch each rep as we follow our breath.
Windshield wipers left and right, then holding legs left/head right, followed by legs right, head left.
Legs straight out — right leg up, and give it a hug. Flapjack, then bring both legs up and hug them, rolling around to loosen up the back as needed.
Grab your strap or rope — wrap around right leg, bring it straight up, then out to the side, back up, then out, then up. Flapjack.
Move to Table Top
Cat/Cow OYO
Another leg stretch out of Table Top — the Odell Beckham (fka the fire hydrant), right leg out first, then left. After a quick check to ensure no fines from the NFL were levied, we move on to …
Sun salutations aka the yoga burpee — 1 led by Q, followed by 3 OYO.
Turn to face the wall, feet apart, arms out in the star pose. Lower down. Walk hands back, then to the right, then the left.
Ascend — back to front, 1 SS OYO.
For the sake of balance, face the other wall. Arms out in star, descend. This time, turn your right foot on its heel and squat on your left for the ninja pose/stretch. YHC regaled the PAX of tales of Anderson’s School of Tae Kwon Do in scenic Greer, SC, where we would do this stretch on the regular, and it was a status symbol to be able to get your 6 all the way to the floor. Needless to say, YHC doesn’t have that kind of flexibility anymore.
Anyway, Ninja with right leg out, then flapjack, then flapjack and flapjack one more time. Straighten those legs out, ascend back into star, back to front with a SS OYO.
Now that our legs are sufficiently worked, let’s work on balance.
Tree pose, right leg on left, then flapjack. Flapjack again, trying to move leg higher than before, ensuring it’s not resting on your knee. And a final flapjack.
Now time to sit down in the Chair. Arms up, then arms out, moving into dancer pose on the right, then the left.
1 SS OYO
Finally, move into Down Dog, swing that left leg back, pull it through for YHC’s favorite stretch, Pigeon. Flapjack.
Back to corpse, quick devo recap. Time called.
Count off, name off, COT with a nice takeout by Jello.

“It’s all on Slack and Twitter.” -Paper Jam
#Accurate
Coming up Nov. 4 is the Let Them Soar 5K at Christ Covenant. It will be a Speed for Need race, and, details are found in Tackling Dummy’s pre-blast.
Otherwise, well, Paper Jam said it best.
SKINE
Good group this morning. Mumblechatter started early as Swiss Miss gave Mouth a tee-ball #TWSS when selecting a rope from the fine selection available in the Scout Hut.
Also, I think Swiss Miss and Paper Jam’s friendship grew a little today, as they were perhaps in too close of quarters next to each other at some points during the workout.
Mouth also had a great retort when I tried to sound somewhat knowledgable when we were ascending and descending in the star pose — the line was something like “a yoga professional would tell you to feel each vertebrae move” and Mouth replied “yeah, they’re all cracking.”
Swiss Miss also continued the shade-fest he and Tweetsie started in regards to the quality of sound from my speaker, which, in its day job helps provide background music in the shower. Swiss specifically complained about a lack of bass, so, until I get that new speaker that was promised, it’s time to start researching how one might loop in a subwoofer from a TV sound bar. That thing has Nicki Minaj Super Bass, so, careful what you wish for.
In all seriousness, I know it’s said a lot, but Gumby helps get me through my F3 week. While we were in pigeon, I specifically recounted to the PAX about how the stretches we learn in Gumby (pigeon especially) helped me survive the BRR.
Always an honor to lead, thanks to Swiss Miss and Tweetsie for the opportunity.
We came. We saw. We ran. It was humid. We had ??. That is all.
Naked man Moleskin: It was nice to get out and see some new faces this morning. Thanks for letting me lead from behind.

You’ve seen what kind of impact Speed for Need can have on both you and the community, so let’s keep the momentum going. Join the A51 PAX and Tackling Dummy for the upcoming LET THEM SOAR 5K on 11/4. Read the personal story from Tackling Dummy below and be sure to sign up to support him and The Exceptional Foundation!
My brother, Andy, is one of the most influential people in my life, the namesake for my first son, and the most amazing individual I know. Yet Andy faces a challenge every day which I do not face; he has Down syndrome. Growing up, we had a community of friends and family that loved Andy well. The school system he grew up in embraced him and provided him long term friendships. However, when high school ended for Andy, he was left without a great way to engage people on a social level or to continue to develop his skills to contribute to the community. This is true for thousands of people like my brother across the country. Schools do a great job of inclusion, but when those activities are through, there is not much for an adult with a mental disability to do with their free time. With so much love and value to offer, it is a great shame that there are many like Andy that do not get to share it with others on a daily basis.
In 1993, my family was involved in the founding of the national Exceptional Foundation in Birmingham, AL…
“to provide a facility and programs for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities to meet regularly and experience a broad range of social and recreational activities designed to promote healthy living, support social relationships, explore the arts, improve functional skills, and foster community involvement.” – The Exceptional Foundation mission
Through the great leadership of the board and executive directors they have employed, the Exceptional Foundation has become a transforming force in the lives of families (my family included) across the entire city of Birmingham. Hundreds of individuals with disabilities come to the Foundation on a daily basis and hundreds of volunteers have come alongside the participants in a meaningful way. In addition Merrill Lynch team mates in Birmingham have become key partners in the success of the Exceptional Foundation.
Today, my brother Andy has more friends, more social events and more fun than anyone I know. The fact that he has such a great place to spend time and build personal relationships has impacted his confidence, showcased the love he has for others and provided my family real community with others that have sons and daughters with special needs.
Tackling Dummy (John Jordan)
Please join me for the Let Them Soar 5K at Christ Covenant Church in Matthews on Saturday, November 4th supporting the Exceptional Foundation. I’ve spoken to many of you about how important the Exceptional Foundation is to me and to this community. I included a little more of my story at the end of this email, to remind you of the mission and purpose behind the Exceptional Foundation: which is to provide a special place for those with special needs. This month we are celebrating one full year of operations here in Uptown Charlotte (www.tefcharlotte.org), and things are going great. We have 4 employees and have created a great community for over 50 participants locally. For all of those that have supported the journey so far through volunteering, giving and moral support, THANK YOU! Your support is making a huge impact on the special needs community.
Please consider joining me on this day to participate in the run. Details on the race as well as a link to register are below…you can participate by yourself, join a team or even be a “Spirit Runner” (you get a t-shirt and don’t have to run!). My entire family will out there in either the 5K or the fun run (appropriate for young kids). Please spread the word for this great event to friends, family and colleagues…it is a great team event and all are welcome!

After having a beautiful week of weather last week, and perfect weather for Fletch’s triumphant return last week, I walked out of my house this morning into fourth of July weather in October. At that point the weinke wasn’t changing so I rolled with what I had.
The Imperial Walker Squat was a failed experiment- for some reason I absolutely love this little random modification, but it is never well received in the COP- feels like the PAX are just not up for a cadence count that goes up to four
Had a little mumble chatter prior to our Catch me if you Can run, but once we arrived at the church it died down significantly.
Not coincidentally around the same time the Swamp things emerged- you know that moment in the workout when everyone is soaked in sweat- yes because of the workout, but mostly due to the humidity. Happens all the time in the summer, so it felt like welcoming back an old, somewhat unwelcome friend.
Smokey was out in front per normal in group one of the church run- Sanka was frantically trying to keep up while discovering that Smokey’s way to skinny to draft off. Not sure who was leading the pack in group 2 for the church laps, but Dollywood was looking strong hitting the stairs.
T-claps to Chin Music and Baracus for the pre run- as well as anyone else I may have missed.

Run back to Providence Colony for 2 burpees then continue to Windbluff Dr. for 4 burpees, Turn around. Run back to the start, stopping at road one for 2 burpees then continue to the top.
