Intermittent Rain until 6:15

11 PAX, ignored their #fartsacks and made their way to Kelvar. The PAX was properly disclaimed and we were off at 5:30.

COP

We started to head towards the church road when we saw Rhapsody pull in to school parking lot so we pulled up and did a little COP.

  • SSH x 20
  • Imperial Walkers x 20

With Rhapsody in tow, we moseyed down the church road, I don’t know the name of it, I’ll have to ask Horsehead sometime, stopping at each light for 5 merkins.  We stopped and finished up COP

  • Windmills x 20
  • Squats x 20

Church Laps

We moved over to the church’s main entrance and ran a lap. When done with said lap, complete the following exercises. Repeato 2 more times for a total of 3 rounds.

  • Merkins x 20
  • Squats x 20
  • Flutter Kicks x 20

Rock Work

We yogged over to the rock pile and chose an appropriately sized lifting rock and headed over to the Pavilion for some cover anticipating the rain at 05:50 . With said rock, perform a round of the called exercises then run to the cemetery and back in between sets.

Round 1

  • Curls x 20
  • Overhead Presses x 20
  • Tricep Extensions x 20

Round 2

  • Chest Press with Rock x 20
  • Kicks (Rock held up or pressed) x 20
  • Squats x 20

We headed back to launch, stopping at the school for 1 round of AYG, which Chubbs won easily.

Mary

  • Rosalita x 20
  • Flutter kicks x 20
  • Hello Dollies x 20

Done

Moleskinny:

  • Great job by the Pax today and surprising numbers considering the weather forecast.
  • Horsehead hit me up yesterday afternoon to see if I could pick up his Q as he was dealing with a balky knee. When I woke up this morning and heard the rain, I thought I might have been hoodwinked. I was glad to see his truck when I pulled in, he wouldn’t leave me hanging. Thanks HH.
  • The weather app said “Intermittent rain until 6:15”, perfect, it would end when we finished the workout. I had a plan, but needed to alter it if the heavens opened up. When I arrived at the AO, the rain was pretty non-existent. Great, we’ll proceed with the weinke and audible as needed. The rain held off thankfully.
  • Orange Whip told me that it was going to come down again at 05:50. He must have caught Larry Sprinkle’s forecast or something on the way.
  • We thought Rhapsody was sitting in his truck thinking we didn’t see him contemplating whether we was going to get out and join us. Manziel was glad you did, since you guys are accountability buddies, which is the best way to make sure the Pax show up in good weather and bad.
  • Kotters to Manziel who joined us after catching the Ultimate Frisbee bug over at Joust this summer.
  • Chubbs has some wheels on him, and doesn’t merlot after the AYG anymore, he’s come a long way.
  • BLC was getting it done as usual. When BLC shows up to a workout, YHC loves his pre-game stretching, makes me think he’s going to go crush the President’s Physical Fitness test.
  • First time posting with Honeymoon, the dude is 22, glad to see the young guys like him, Chubbs, and Spyglass coming out.
  • Red Baron keeps putting in the work, saw him at Sparta for my Q last week. Keep it up.
  • Orange Whip and Manziel are enjoying the strong start by their home team The Browns, maybe Baker Mayfield might work out after all. Cleveland fans are some of the most die-hard fans, hope they don’t get disappointed again.
  • Fault Line’s shoulder acted up with the weather and stayed in the #fartsack this morning.
  • Thanks to Orange Whip and Fault Line for the opportunity to lead and please sound off with any mumble chatter.

Announcements:

Leading from the 6

This morning was not looking so great when the alarm went off at 4:40am and I heard the clatter of rain pelting my roof and sides of the house. “Guess we’re gonna get a little wet today”… “Maybe no one will show up for 5:15 Swarm kick-off and I can come back home and go to bed…?” Nope!  Rolled in to Cutty around 5:01 and Wolverine was right behind me to get in a little pre-run before the workout. Then Dasher, then Easy Button then Ice9 roll in almost as if they caravanned.  “Oh well. I guess we’ll be running in the rain anyway” Got out of the truck with about 1 minute before kick-off, did a quick DiCCS and the 5 of us were off.

Warmorama: Quick mosey to Crazy-Pajama-Guy-Island and then turn around and go back following the front drive of the schools. We circled up in the Driver’s Ed parking lot for – 20 X IW, Plank for what seemed like forever, L/R Calf Stretch, L/R Lunge Stretch (reach for the sky), Up/Down Dog and plank for a few more forevers.

Thang:

Mosey to corner of upper student lot and do 4 corners elevator by 5’s up to 25 and back down to 5. Each corner do called exercise/reps for each lap – Burpee X 5, Bonnie Blair X 10, Merkin X 15, Dry-Docks X 20, Flutters X 25, American Hammers X 20, Low Slow Squats X 15, Big Boy Sit Up X 10, Mike Tyson X 5.  Completed 9 total laps and Moseyed back to COT around front of schools at what was supposed to be an 8:00 pace but ended up more in the 7:00 range (Thanks 49ers club for pushing the pace there)…  Ended up rolling into COT with 3:00 to go so had to extend our Mosey to the sidewalk around to Rudy’s Palace and then turn around at the 1:30 mark.   Done!

All 5 PAX pushed hard and embraced the rain. (Running in wet shoes sucks, by the way…) There is a new sub-group in Waxhaw called the 49ers club, today’s club members: Dasher, Ice9 & Wolverine, proving “Age ain’t nuttin butta numbah” since they led the way the entire time.  We also had a bonus today that I haven’t heard in a while as Ice9 started his heaving/coughing/(whatever the heck that sound is he makes) at the final 1:30 Mosey, (SUCCESS!) .  Great leading this fine group of men. Even if it means I will be in the 6 the whole time…  Always a pleasure and glad everyone showed up to show out.

Playing In The Rain

DICCS Given- CPR, cell phone, modify if needed ect..

written by Chicken Little cause Schneider hates writing back-blast..

First of all ( words Schneider wanted me to include, I said no but he insisted) lol-haha

I want to thank Chicken Little for being my friend and ALWAYS helping out with basically everything from cell phone usage, setting up a evites for parties, writing my back-blast,  Busch lights when I walk by his house, keeping his wife from killing me when my dog pee’s on his bushes that she just planted, letting me know where workouts are just are just to name a few, There are so many things Chicken Little does to for me I am forever in debit to him and I hope one day I will be able to repay him or properly.. I LOVE THAT DAMN CHICKEN….

Now that that is out of the way on to the seriousness….

Warm Up

Mosey to front of school- a few decided to take cover for the warm up under the shed – so cute!!!

20- SSH

15- Imperial Walkers

10-Murkins

Calve Stretch

The Thang

Mosey to COT to start of the trail

alternating lights for 10- murkins / 10 – big boy sit-ups in puddles ( sorry boys)

Hit Rudy’s POOP palace for some arm work

3 sets of 50 air presses single count

Mosey to the covered area near the buses just in time for the rain to stop

complete a lap around the triangle after each exercise and 1 burpee before heading up stairs to start next exercise

20 Donkey Kicks/20 LBCS/20 Mike Tysons/20 Hills to Heaven/20 Murkins

Mosey to the benches near the school for 3 sets of

25 dips and run to school for 30 squats – rinse repeat 2 more times

Mosey to overhang near buses and bear crawl the whole covered area while we dodge Zinfandels ass gas that literal hovered over everyone like a damn nuclear cloud ( GET LOW BOYS I THINK HE POOPED HIS PANTS). It reminded a few of us of stink bombs from yester years– YIKES… I and pretty sure a few of us tasted some of his fancy brews and I got notes of barley, oatmeal, oak, earth tones and wild berries- ugh..

Mosey to front of school for a 3 quick hot 1/2 laps after each exercise

10 derkins/20 hills to heaven/10 murkins

Mosey back to COT taking long way around lot and wait for the buzz of the shirted SWARMERS to come rolling in. I must say on a wet damp morning I was shocked the Swarmer’s all came in with shirts on- guess they did not want to show off their ripped moist bodies ( except Carb Load) to us Clydesdales fearing we would all be in awh of their greatness…

Moleskin

Today was a great day as I usually will not workout in the rain but since I was vol-n-told I was Q ing by Mr. Form Police himself I could not back out. It was a pleasure leading this group today and I believe I actually counted properly, stuck to my Wienke and stayed on task… The PAX pushed themselves hard today in the rain and we had a blast.

Catch the mist, catch the myth

8 modern day warriors strode into Cerberus.  Their minds were not for rent.  It was a fine assemblage of pax, so be careful what you say about this company, as it would also say something of society.

They knew changes aren’t permanent, that’s why they continue to post.  No FNG’s in this group – though Smuggler & Bypass are relatively new to the south Charlotte gloom.  Keep posting, men.

All the pax caught the witness, caught Alf’s wit, caught the F3 spirit, and might’ve caught YHC’s spit (aka the snot rockets I was hurling as we ran the parking deck ramps).

Really not clear on what Neil Peart, Geddy Lee et al were trying to convey.  I do know my next FNG name will be Tom Sawyer…because: why not?

Reason for the references to my favorite Canadian rock band is that Udder’s brother was blasting some Rush as he screamed at the pay-for-play crowd in the parking deck this morning.

So below is a bit of Thang but mostly Moleskinny:

Swimmers was late, not Floorslapper late but after 0530.  We waited, nonetheless.  #cobains

Good to learn Bypass is also from the Heartland, Alf went for the dig right after YHC asked “which part of Indiana are you from?”  Well played, Alf.

So we ran some ramps, did a Triple Nickel and a Jacob’s Ladder.  Taught most of them the Walther N’Djaiye.

No idea how much ground we covered.  Didn’t start my watch.  Not much ground covered.  Fair amount of Mary mixed in with ramp running, some donkey kicks (hadn’t called those in a long time).

Some other observations from this morning’s mean, mean striding:

One Star and TL can call out some cadence.  T-claps…though One Star struggled with the math a bit…you sure you got schooled in the Ivy League?  I have heard they’re next-to-impossible to get into but easy once you’re in 😉

Smuggler was an FNG roughly 2 weeks ago.  EH’d by One Star who apparently failed to post for Smuggler’s FNG downpainment.  Good work out there Smuggler.  Keep at it, brother!

Ironsides is a huge Rush fan and said he has a concert t-shirt signed by the entire band….he was also going on about Tom Sawyer having attended Appalachian State for a couple years.

Ok.  That’s it.  That’s the backblast.  I like backblasts, and also since Waxhaw requires backblasts, preferably 2 for every workout, I figured I better post one.

Wait a minute.  This 3-headed dog known affectionately as Cerberus – is that SOB, A51 & Waxhaw or is Union County the third head?  Who cares.  Good work men.  Now go serve and love others and die to that selfishness that rises up in all of us.  Aye!

Edward Brickyhands

17 lab rats unknowingly signed up for an experimental workout involving 45 minutes of partner workout… not with another pax, but with 2 bricks… one in each hand. (Unlike that fratter initiation ritual you were a part of in the ’90s, there was no duct tape securing a 40oz malt bev to each hand, but rather a cold hard 5lb chunk of masonry. Not nearly as refreshing, but less likely to make you pee yourself and wake up in the hall with sharpie all over your face, so you’ve got that going for you already).
The Thang:
  • COP in bus lot
  • Straight leg toe touches
  • Peter Merkins
  • LSSs
  • Yogi squat
  • Crow pose (yes, Semi-Gloss, I have been watching a lot of You-tube lately. And yes, Queen, I think I achieved the highest refusal rate of all time with this move)
  • Circuit 1 (3 rounds)
    • 20 Thrusters
    • 20 Abyss Merkins
    • 20 American Hammers
    • Run to end of lot and back
    • 1st one done start LBCs
  • Circle up for more experiments
    • Punch kicks w/ bricks
    • RDLs (both legs)
    • Low slow abyss merkins
    • Plank o Rama
  • Line up on long side of the bus lot
    • Lunge walk across and and do 5 bodybuilders (yes, with the bricks)… mosey back. Repeato 3X
    • Mary at the finish
  • Take a lap around the school (yes, w/ the bricks)
  • Mosey to the wall
    • Wall sit w/ presses (yes, w/ bricks)
    • Off the wall for reverse flies (Hold for 3-ct)… possibly on one leg
    • Wall sit w/ punches (yes, w/ bricks)
    • Off the wall for reverse flies
    • Wall sit w/ curls (yes, w/ bricks… please stop asking me)
  • Return to launch for Mary – LBCs and star crunch
  • 5 burpees OYO
  • Dunskies
Moleskinny:
  1. Brandi texted me the night before requesting a wardrobe consultation. (I’m no fashionista, but I generally go with “functional” when selecting my workout gear)
  2. Beetlejuice said that my patented “Peter Merkins” are actually called “Supermans”.  I’m not sure that’s accurate… perhaps Beetlejuice is just a big Soulja Boy fan.
  3. During the lap around the school, I noticed Puddin Pop walking toward the back field. I was concerned he was nursing an injury and modifying as necessary, but it turn out he just had a serious turtlehead situation going on and couldn’t find a porta potty (back field near the woods, Puddin! Next time, just ask anyone with a 3yr old in the neighborhood… we know all porta potty locations like the back of our hands)
  4. To whoever broke my bricks during the reverse flies… you break it, you buy it! I’m tacking it onto your F3 dues!
  5. To Geraldo and Snowflake, if you recognize this workout, yes, I did something similar at Rockzero back in June, but it was “Edward Brickhands”. TOTALLY different! And since Slingshot gave me grief for not titling it “Edward Brickyhands”, and since he’s probably never even heard of the movie “Edward Scissorhands”, and since he doesn’t understand proper grammatical translation, and since he’s probably the only pax still reading this, I dedicate this post title to you.
  6. Welcome FOCKER to your first Hydra post. (When it comes to F3, remember… It’s just a game, Focker!)
Announcements:

Thanks to Runstopper and Cottonmouth for giving me the opportunity to Q, and thanks to Spankler for the solid take-out.

Dark Places

Nice, cool morning for a workout. Fifty-something degrees and remained that way until the end. 25 PX joined YHC for what turned out to be a dark web with a twist… And 5 MASHers were there hoisting their blocks over and over to develop that physique we all wish we had.

Warmorama:

Mosey around student lot and circle up near lot entrance for 20 x ssh, 20 x IW, Plank, Up/Down Dog, Calf Stretch L/R with runner stretch L/R mixed in. Back to Downward Dog. “Namaste”

Thang:

Mosey to opposite corner near football stadium and begin Dark Web (with a twist). All exercises done in 1:2 ratio

start with 1 BBSU:2 AH, Merkin:Air Press, Jump Squat:Bonnie Blair, Burpee:SSH and afternoon each circuit run to opposite side of parking lot. Repeat each circuit all the way up to 10:20. Shewww that was a killer and a time eater. (The twist was that there isn’t supposed to be any running between circuits but I decided it would be kind of boring to stay in the same spot for 20 minutes. (Thank High Hat for the suggestion…)

Line up separates by parking spaces and do Merkincide ladder across parking lot Starting at 1 and ending with 5 on the center island. Repeato and replace Merkins with Squats. Time!

head to COT to hook up with MASH for Countorama.

All in all a solid workout for everyone. Gazelles were stabled and the Clydesdales got a little bit of running. PAX stayed together and we hit all the major muscle groups and got a little sweaty in the process.

I appreciate the opportunity to lead as always and hope to do it again soon. Chain of Pain earned by Bounce House for keeping up with the big boys out there today. Way to push little man!

Who Doesn’t Want to Wear the Ribbon?!

I thought I would start with a pictorial representation of today’s Falcon Crest:

Almost) All the Ferris Bueller's Day Off Characters, Ranked by Coolness | WIRED

Who? Who doesn't want to wear the ribbon? | Best sitcoms ever, Seinfeld, Favorite tv shows

However, the*most important* images to take from today’s Falcon Crest are thoughts and prayers for our fallen: Bounce.

My best friend’s sister’s boyfriend’s brother’s girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who’s going with the girl who saw Bounce pass out at the Dunkin’/31 Flavors after being exposed 2+ weeks ago to the COVID.  So……..I guess it’s pretty serious.
John Lintner | People on The Move - Charlotte Business JournalPrayers and Candles - Home | FacebookFile:Red Ribbon.svg - Wikimedia Commons
As a result, YHC was asked to take the ‘Q’ from Bounce’s Quarantine, with barely any notice and after having Q’ed yesterday.  Wanting to show support for Bounce, I donned a red ribbon (available soon at the online F3 store!).  Not surprised that the first person to notice was Puddin’, who immediately shouted “Who doesn’t want to wear the ribbon!”, which started a discussion on Seinfeld that ended, 60 minutes later, on Diff’rent Strokes.
We waited for the inevitable bike “ring ring” from a shirtless (WTF) Sprockets, followed by his posse of runners in formation, and got going.
Inspired by my classmate, Amy Coney Barrett, an extremely detailed and legally accurate disclosure was given.  I think its important here to note the juxtaposition of our days.  ACB woke up and got ready for a confirmation hearing in the U.S. Senate.  YHC was being hissed at and harassed in all directions by a bunch of white men (more on that later).  On second thought, maybe our days were not so different after all.
What Had Happened Was:
Head out down Rea and into the new housing development to access the Harris Teeter employees’ smoke-break-path to the medical building lot.  To honor the English Patient, we did COVID-19s, i.e., 19 each of the following:
C-opperhead squats (several months ago a small group at El Patron did copperhead squats and for some reason Bounce hissed, and added an arm movement like the Purple Cobras from Dodge Ball, and since then, it’s stuck).  It seemed most everyone hissed today, and refused to count, which they thought would throw YHC off but – doy  – I was keeping count in my head the whole time.  Y’all need to do much more to throw me off my (substituted) game.

O- verhead Presses
V-ups
I- mperial Walkers
D-ancing Bears (I think the exicon has these mis-labeled; they seem to be bird dogs)
Run back out to Rea, into the new houses, down the path, and to the medical building lot.  YHC felt that Bounce needed a second COP in his honor.  So the pax circled up and we did WUSSY:
W-indmills (10)
U- p Straddle Hops (1-legged SSHs, 10 on each leg)
S – corpion Dry Docks (10 each leg)
S – prinklers (10)
Y- crunches (Rosalita + flutter)
Truth be told YHC had *another* round planned but the Pax’s concern for Bounce has left them drained – emotionally, physically, spiritually – that we moseyed to Chadwyck Boseman Wakanda Forever RIP Farms Rd.  Thankful for Geraldo for being out front with me with small talk; hopeful that when he reports back to Mermaid, he has nice things to say.
Here is where Bounce’s alleged-Wienke came into play.  We ran down Chadwyck to Windyrush and stopped at the big intersections for 10 air dramas and 10 merkins.  Partner up at the hill leading up to Summerlin, where partner 1 ran up to Summerlin intersection for 5 jump squats while partner 2 did foxholes (1 WWII sit up, roll over 1 merkin, roll back WWII sit up…).  2 rounds each.  Mosey back same route, Carolina dry docks at the intersections.
Just when you thought we were done with the Harris Teeter secret path – nope, one more time through it to the parking lot, where pax lined up abreast for Welsh Dragons, with a duck walk back to start, and then LL Cool J’s, and finally a return to launch for LBCs and Freddy Mercury’s as time expired.
Moleskin/Announcements/Observations:
Prayers for Bounce and that God puts His healing hands over Bounce’s non-illness.  Real prayers for Motor Boat who tweaked his (already injured) hamstring.  There were a lot of boot camp elements today (along with ~ 3 miles) which can sneak up and gas you – everyone put in outstanding effort today!
Blood drive on the 23rd (info literally all over Slack if you can donate).
F3 Give to Gift campaign going on – hoping to raise $200,000.  Leadership positions within the foundation also open to any and all interested in being a part of a charitable organization.  Per Gloss its a 501(c)(3) so obvi its legit.
Sounds like the glamping trip by MotorBoat and Gloss, sorry, Screaming Eagle and Big Oak, was a success (in that they successfully got their kids to accompany them to the bars and breweries).
Congrats to Spackler for winning hos own club’s golf tourney, and then winning 2nd at a tourney in Greenville, SC this past weekend (complete with cash prize, though sadly not enough to get those car speakers installed).
And a HUGE congrats to JetFuel for his engagement to Ms. Huntersville this past weekend up in the mountains!
Post-workout discussions got serious as Geraldo, Erin Brockovich, Deep Dish and Puddin’ discussed all things Diff’rent Strokes.
