THE BACKBLAST
SwiftWARMUP: Just over a mile to the Bull Ring with some stretches, made complete with a reminder to walk on our tippy toes by Hippie. I asked everyone what the desert was to them while fire_hazard continued his “more important” conversation. kirby hilariously said it’s missing an “s” (dessert, get it) and midriff more seriously answered a place he actively tries to stay out of. That’s real.
THE THANG: Week 3 of Egypt > Desert > Promised Land was about RESTRAINT. We hit 200m RUN > 400m RESTRAIN > 200m FIGHT
The idea was to actually recognize the desire to go faster but intentionally hold back. A natural pacing fell into place and we finished just shy of 6 miles.
Webelos was locked in and so eloquently shut down any chance at a conversation after the warmup. YHC made it through one successful round before a calf forced me to practice restraint for most of the remaining workout. Patches was back out and gumbo continues to go his own way.

COT: We talked about our tendency to either avoid the desert altogether or try to run ahead of it, convincing ourselves we’re ready. But that doesn’t mean it’s time. The testing of our faith produces endurance. Maybe instead of trying to escape the desert, we learn to embrace what God is doing in it.
The question that I left everyone with:
What’s the one thing you know you can’t bring with you into the Promised Land?
Now’s the time to identify it. Maybe even share it with a brother.
Next week: PROMISED LAND > FIGHT.
