Going Off Campus

In YHC’s experience, The Charge is one of the finest AO’s around, with a nice turf field, stadium steps galore, and a soft track (it’s heated! it’s padded! it’s made from discarded F1 tires!). The draw to stay on campus is palpable, which makes it just the right time to venture off campus. 16 men gathered to do just that, they just didn’t know it until a few minutes into the Thang:

Mosey to track

SSH x 20

Merkin x 15

Mountain Climber x 15

Imperial Squat x 15

Drydock x 10

Freddie Mercury x 15

Mosey down track and jump gate to access road behind the stadium and back gate.

Scale 7 foot gate and escape the confines of PDS. Did everyone sign the waiver? Plank up for the six.

Starting at the corner of Jefferson and Lansing, run and do 3 burpees (a prescient call by John Deere) at every street light along Jefferson, turning right on Lansing and back to start.  YHC counted 30 street lights.  A whole lot of suck there, but at least the residents enjoy the benefits of a fully lit neighborhood. Sheesh. Core while waiting for the six.

Mosey out to Sardis and to Scout Hut across from PDS, stopping once for the six.

Partner up. Partner one runs to far end of the parking lot and does one burpee and runs back, while partner two does full squat presses with logs that YHC found from a fresh tree felling. Flapjack 3 times and put away the “green” coupons #allnatural. Seven more burpees OYO to make it an even 100.

Mosey back and do 3 minutes of mary to hit time and coming in right at 3 miles #Garmintime

NMM: Great work from the pax today. It was an adventure. Of course, the PDS maintenance crew opened the back gate shortly after we scaled it like Special Forces less the gear, less the guns, less the ammo, less the cahones, but scaling fences in the dark is still kind of amusing.

F3 Dads starting in June and F3 Dads Camp signup is on the F3Nation homepage.

YHC took it out. Thanks for the opportunity to lead!

The Truth Revealed about the Heated Providence Day Track

Eleven men gathered in the sub-freezing gloom to see if YHC would post for a second consecutive Q and whether it would be a predictable repeat from Black Widow.  To 50 Shade’s delight, there were no Lappers this time (but only just!), and we set off for The Thang:

Mosey the upper parking lot loop with backwards running, high knees/heels up (a Double D’s classic soccer warmup), and a round through the stadium stairs (up/down every aisle). Mosey to field for SSH, Imperial Squats, Mountain Climbers, Merkins, Freddie Mercurys.

Bear crawl 20 yards, sprint 30; repeato

Craw walk 20 yards, sprint 30; repeato. Core work while we wait for the Six.

Mudrun crawl (bear crawl on elbows) 20 yards, sprint 30; repeato

Sumo squat broad jump 20 yards, sprint 30; repeato. Core work while we wait for the Six.

Mosey to track

2 circuits of 10 burpees, run a lap, run to stadium steps with up and down each aisle, back to track.

Core work while we wait for the Six.

2 laps of the track, stopping every 100m for either merkins, sumo jump squats, wide arm/diamond merkins, or split jump squats.

Core work while we wait for the Six.

Wall sits with air pumps and single leg holds.

Balls to the Wall with 20 hip slappers OYO.

30 Donkey Kicks and 30 LBC OYO.

Mosey back home.

Moleskin:  The temps were low but morale was high.  Good to see a few Kotters in the PAX.  Volunteer opportunities this week with Urban Ministries, check the website; Appreciation for DD’s for the Providence Day hospitality, and DD’s revealed that the track is not actually heated. But it is good advertising fodder for the Charge to say that it is, so we will continue the ruse.  Besides, I’ve never seen snow on the track, so it must be heated. #warmthoughts Thoughts and prayers for Ice9 and his wife Heather as she battles a recent cancer diagnosis. Bridges took us out with a great ThirdF lead.
