Modify as needed evidently means no burpees

Solid Hydra group – several guys running in – quick disclaimer and off we went.

First boot camp post for YHC in a while. Gummy called YHC out the night before – and he was correct – guess you have to Q to get back out to doing boot camp. And Hydra is a great AO for it.

COP

10 IW – IC

10 Low Slow Squats – IC

10 Slow merkins – IC

The Thang

The Escalator – a favorite go to for YHC – mainly because it brings pain from the beginning and keeps everyone moving. YHC has a love/hate relationship with it.

5 jump squats, 5 merkins, 5 heels to heaven, 5 burpees – run to other end of field (approx. 50 – 60 yards)

10 jump squats, 10 merkins, 10 heels to heaven, 10 burpees – run back

Next – divide into groups of 3 for some gopher / grinder work:

Pax 1 at the concession stand area – 10 jump ups, 10 dips, 10 derkins – rinse and repeat

Pax 2 run from the concession to playground – 5 pull ups – then to small track to Pax 3

Pax 3 –burpee broad jump around the track.

Pax 2 swaps with Pax 3 who then runs back to playground – 5 pull ups and over to relieve Pax 1 and start jump ups, dips, derkins.

Rinse and repeat until everyone had done each section twice.

Mosey to play ground – about 9 mins left

AMRAP – 5 pull-ups, 10 merkins, 15 squats for 9 minutes.

Finished.

NMM

Great group out, even if Gummy decided to sleep in. 2nd F is always great at Hydra. Was YHC’s first post nearly 7 years ago. Thanks Sprockets and Gummy for the opportunity to lead. And why YHC may have given some people flack for the lack of burpees – everyone was working hard.

Thanks again men for allowing me to lead.

Thanks Puddin for the take out.

Champagne Out.

Announcements:

Foghorn is on Q next week at Hydra – his VQ – come and show is support.

Moleskin:

By my count we got in 70 burpees, and I must say that they were the best looking burpees Cuthbertson has ever seen. The best! Not one Slurpee or Aussie burpee in sight. And the greatest part-no Recalcu form police to be found.

Bottlecap kept letting me know that the Q was similar to Frack’s last night, except with some more running. Obviously great minds think alike. I did try to throw out an exercise Waxhaw hadn’t seen in a while, but apparently calling out a backwards bear crawl up the double set of stairs crosses the line for some all of the present PAX. The chatter ratcheted up quite a bit and I literally got the Shake and Bake no from a few.

As usual, tried to keep the pace and heartrate up. And low backs will be sore tomorrow.

PS: when we passed the Impromptu PAX, they mocked us and tried to fight us. Jealous much? Wow!

Gerber-seemed to be on cruise control all morning. Likely perturbed that I didn’t let him run free too much and when we did, called out burpees to slow him down. Great burpees though (see above)

Bottlecap-Proudly led the “I’m afraid I’m going to crush my skull going up these stairs” charge.

Foundation-still upset about #namechangegate #didntevenbuildafreakinhouse

Deflated-fartsacked and not present. #protectyaneck

Easy Button-didn’t modify once, even when he said he was going to modify, was really only kidding and completed every rep of every exercise.

Smithers-Always know where to find him, right next to Foundation. The ultimate Tag Team.

Hooch-Only complaint-asked for more BTTW mountain climbers next time. And to run some more. Missing Longhorn out there this morning

Rubbermaid- Just happy that we didn’t venture into the muddy stuff #morningwoodproblems

It’s good to see new 2.0’s coming out. Wrangler (Birth name Levi aka Chastain 2.0) had a smile on his face the entire time. Not sure how it energy continued to increase throughout the workout. I have been really working on Transporter, and getting him to branch out and try new things. Yesterday it was an evening workout; next week it will be rejoining the playhouse. Welcome Informer; hope you enjonyed your 13 minute boot camp in the rain! “Informer, ya no say daddy me snow me I go blame A licky boom boom down“. Yes I had to google the lyrics.

CRADLE TO THE GRAVE!

We Have a New Champ!

The 2020 Weight Loss Competition has ended and we have a new champ – with a 13.7% weight loss and 34.8 lbs since the start, we congratulate….. Smithers!  Now, lets look at the field and see how the rest of the field panned out.

Top 3 Individuals who are in the money:

  • Smithers – down 34.8 lbs (13.7%) Wins the prize money and title of Biggest Loser of Waxhaw.
  • Foundation – down 26.2 lbs (10.7%), Took a run at the crown, but fell few lbs. short.
  • Nails – down 25.9 lbs (10.4%), with plant based diet and puffy jacket worn while training in Haiti finished in Top 3 and won some extra gas money.

Just short of the money:

  • Doughboy – down 25.4 lbs (8.9%) Came out the gate hotter then an Ice9 Q with 1,000 calorie/day diet.  Ran into a little traffic bourbon towards end but still down an impressive 25 lbs.
  • Deflated – down 18.4 lbs (8.9%) one of the lighter competitors to start the competition still managed to shed almost 20 lbs of clothing before end of March, which may be a greater accomplishment then losing the actual weight.
  • Banjo – down 20 lbs (8.3%), made it through Dryuary, but couldnt keep the keto burn going like a couch in WV
  • Deadwood – down 17.4 lbs* (8.1%) started off pre Floater down only 10 lbs, but by end finished down 17.4 lbs.  Weight bounced up and down more then the stock market of late
  • Blades of Glory – down 22.2 lbs (8.0%) as of last weigh in, and is currently on Mission in Guatemala.  Could have been a true contender for crown, but still hell of a job hitting -20 lbs in competition
  • Deep Dish – down 13.0 lbs (6.2%),even while on IR consistent poster of scale pics and consistent weight loss.  Could have finished in money if it were not for naggin injuries

Rest of Field

  • Boitano – down 14.2lbs (6.2%), Looked to have taken to walking the course vs. using the golf cart at Bushwood, unfortunately was not able to avoid beer cart and cash in on this competition
  • Zin – down 10.8 lbs (5.0%), weight loss competition did not drag on long  enough to have his big reveal of new abs recently found under the vest.
  • Rudy – down 11.0 lbs (4.7%), Coach finally put Rudy in at the 4th Qtr, but just a little too late to cash in this go round.
  • Damascus – down 8.4 lbs (3.5%), after too many questions asked on how to access the app, reverted to only 2 recorded weights.  Will be sure to right up full SOP for next years event for you.
  • Recalculating – down 7.0 lbs (3.4%), Ice bath and cryotherapy looked to have put a freeze on his weight loss for 2nd half of competition
  • Wedding Singer – down 7.8 lbs (3.4%), Puff, Puff, Pass on weight loss during final 3 weeks.  Life is good in Denver
  • Jingles – down 7.6 lbs (2.9%), not only a lurker on GroupMe but a lurker on competition with no weigh ins since initial weight.  Look forward to him recommencing workouts with pax soon.
  • On Time down 4.6 lbs (1.9%) – little bit of baby blues, but look to having you out soon again
  • Fuse Box – down 4.2 lbs (1.7%), the Don of Briarcrest expense report must have been maxed out as never given shot to take shot at crown due to travel
  • Brutus – down 2 lbs (0.9%), may have recently began new streak of attending workouts, but was unable to log any additional weights in app.  Lets see if he will last longer then Brady Hoke’s coaching career at U of Michigan

Team Standings:

  1. Team Chocolate Cookie (Deadwood/Foundation/Smithers) – 32.6%  – Winners!!!
  2. Team Ice Capades (Deflated/Blades Glory/Boitano) – 23.1%
  3. Team Hunger Games(Recalc/Doughboy/Banjo) – 20.6%
  4. Team Delirium Tremens (Zin/Nails/Rudy) – 20.1%
  5. Team Rex Ryan Love Bunions (Deep Dish/Jingles/Damascus) – 12.6%
  6. Team Traveling Circus (Brutus/Fuse/Wedding Singer) – 5.9%

Payouts will be distributed to the Top 3 and Team winners in upcoming days.  Great job to everyone and impressive amount of weight shed.  Now challenge comes to continue to keep weight off.  Good luck and keep it going.

Sandbag Toss and Chase

11 PAX in all showed up at The Arsenal this morning. 6 for the prerun, where we did the Swift prescribed 4x 800m’s at a 5k pace. The high school track was great for it for obvious reasons. 5 more arrived for the main event and Happy Meal had to bounce out. If he hadn’t had told me yesterday he wasn’t going to be able to stick around, I’d think it was when he saw Fire Hazard and I pulling the sand bags out.

Warmup

Disclaimers given, sandbags shouldered, and we’re off to drop them off at the large student lot. Warmup on arrival, 15-20x of each IC

  • SSH
  • Mountain Climber
  • IW
  • Low Slow Squat

The Main Event

Leave the sandbags for a minute to head up to the smaller lot for 7 of diamonds. Starting in center, run out to each corner of the lot for called exercise, run back to center between each of 4 corners. Plank for 6 between rounds.

  • Rd 1 – 7x Jump Squats
  • Rd 2 – 14x Sister Mary Catherine’s
  • Rd 3 – 21x Monkey Humpers
  • Rd 4 – 28x Calf Raises on the curb

Return to the sandbags. PAX form groups per sandbag. 1 PAX starts as the timer and begins to throw the sandbag to the other end of the lot. The rest of PAX sprint to the end that the throwing PAX is headed toward and do as many of called exercise as possible until throwing PAX makes it to them. PAX then rotate sandbag throwers, and turn around to head back to starting point of lot. We had 3 per group and ended up doing 3 rounds.

  • Squats
  • High Knee Jumps
  • Pistol Squats

Carry the sandbags back to launch. With about 10 minutes left we ran 3 laps around the parking lot doing burpees at the start. 10 after first lap, 5 after second, none for last. Plank up for final minute of time. Bounty Hunter really tried to stretch it out, but couldn’t figure out his fancy new GPS watch.

Announcements

  • Hit me or Happy Meal up if you want to Q a Thursday. March is full but we’ve got slots in April.

Thanks, Fire Hazard, for taking us out.

Moleskine

  • Valuable time was somewhat wasted bringing the sandbags from launch to the student lot. It would have been better to drop them off in advance and get over to them faster. Thanks, Cobbler, for the suggestion.
  • I’ve said it before, keep it simple. There’s a reason for the F3 lexicon and exercise list, and that’s because that’s what everyone knows. There was confusion when trying to explain the sandbag thrower working as a timer for the rest of the group to do AMRAP. It was short lived confusion, but avoidable if I could have just worked it in with a known routine.
  • All in all I’d call it a pretty good workout. Kudos to everyone who made it out.
  • Was good to see Weatherman make it out again after his FNG at Arsenal last week. Keep it up! Kudos to Run Flat for the EH.
  • This was my first Q since my accident. Everyone keeps asking me if I’m recovered. The answer is 2 parts. I’m 100% over concussion symptoms and no longer limited by it or the whiplash. Conditioning wise, though, I’d say I’m about 80% of where I was before December. This was another little mental milestone for me, feeling confident enough to Q again. Thanks to everyone for the support the last few months. It’s good to be back.

Moleskin

First time Qing the Floater and I love this site.  Burpee train cut the weinke short a bit but still turned out nicely. I actually love hearing that train come by because I hate burpees, so it forces me to get better at them.

Shout out to O-69 for showing up day in and day out and doing his thing! He is a testament to dedication. It’s not about motivation or drive – its about discipline. Especially when your body is sore and tired, your mind will always want you to take the easy route and rest…so don’t think! Just get up and go – you will always feel better after.

There was no real 6 today because everyone stuck together, even on some longer moseys. Obviously the Roosters were out front but everyone seemed very fast today – must be all the weight lost these past few months.

Some surprises at the weigh-ins! A lot of people getting down so serious weight and I know it must feel nicer when running and working out, I know I feel a huge difference.  I think the most surprised was anyone seeing a bunch of half-naked men hanging out in front of the church…nothing to see here, move along.

Thank you all for letting me lead you today, we have a great group of guys out here in Waxhaw and it makes it a ton of fun!

Man Touch has successfully completed his name change to Two Hand Touch – while signing a blood contract that he will post regularly forever

Who’s the Q?

Brutus and YHC (Your Humble Chastain) rolled into the Millbridge Clubhouse parking lot about 0505 to get a good pre-stretch in. Rubbermaid is out with some nasty eye infection that I declined his offer to provide details about. Tuck is the Q but he’s out for some unknown reason. No one else in the lot yet, but we see Turnbuckle’s van over at the gym so we make a quick jog over to say hi. Locked out. Oh well. Back to the lot and Wolverine rolls in and then Sledge-O-Matic. Time to get moving so we set off at different paces. I had a good conversation with Sledge prior to his early departure to get his kids ready for school. Then I caught up with Brutus and Wolve…Goodfella! A bit more running and catch back up with Wolverine, snap a photo, then back to the clubhouse to wrap it up. And with that, I think I’ve doubled the word count for the average Pursuit back blast.

YHC took us out.

Announcements:  Still looking for Qs in March.

Took us out with a prayer for Tennesseans impacted by a tornado this week.

So, yesterday when Dana sent me a subtle “Looking forward to tomorrow” reminder (thanks for that!), I had my dates backwards and thought Sprinkles (my 2.0 for those of you who don’t know) was on Q today and I was on Q next Wednesday……so if the Weinke seemed a little thrown together…..it was. Please accept my apology.   However, after my VQ where I was woefully short of exercises, I vowed to not run out and to keep everyone moving.  I sat down with my Weinke and a beer…mmm….beer…..I digress.  I reviewed the F3 Q School handout Posse gave us and started jotting down everything.  Looked good on paper!  I re-read the section about the Q commands since I struggled with that my first round…..yep…..struggled with it again….Q command 2: Exercise!!!!

Despite going to bed anxious and waking up a 2:30, 3:30, and 4:00 worried I’d oversleep, I felt better about my 2nd Q than my VQ.  Still lots to work on but such is life, right?  Special shout-out to Bottlecap for pointing out my light was on in my truck.  And to Goodfella for keeping an eye on the time.  And to One Star for giving me a Weinke holder for my wrist!

I really enjoyed being the Q today.  All things are timed just right.  I was born in Western Tn and raised on the border of western TN and KY.  I lived in Lebanon, TN from 2011 to 2018 which was one of many towns near Nashville that was hit hard.  It wasn’t a coincidence that a former Tennessee native was on Q here in NC after a tragic day TN.  Please keep the people of middle Tennessee in your thoughts, prayers, and deeds as it will be a long recovery and lots of people have lost more than just their homes and possessions.

And finally…(I think writing and talking about this stuff helps us cope and makes us stronger)…thanks to everyone in the F3 Nation that showed up last Thursday in their bright colorful shirts for #F3forFaye.  I’m sure that many of you felt the same way I did from the time she was abducted to the time they found her.  I’m not too proud to admit that I cried more during that time than I have in a very long time.  Sprinkles is not my only 2.0.   I have a daughter, Emmerson, who is a 6-year-old kindergartner at Kensington.  Like Faye and many little girls at her age, her favorite colors are pink and purple, she loves ponies and unicorns, she likes to ride her bike and skate up and down the sidewalks in our neighborhood.  So, every time I scrolled through my social media feeds and saw her picture or turned on the news and saw her picture, Emmerson’s face flashed in my mind.  I can’t imagine what her family and those close to this situation are going through right now but as I referenced above….nothing is a coincidence.  She didn’t die in vain.  It has made a huge difference in my life and I hope thousands of others.  I listen to all the “silly” things my kids want to talk about a lot closer now.  I appreciate the time with them a lot more.  I make sure they know I love them and will protect them.   And lastly, my head is on a swivel even if I’m stepping away for just a moment.  Continue your prayers for her family and community.

Thanks again for your patience today!  Looking forward to Qing again in April.
