The threat of thunderstorm didn’t stop 8 of us from getting together for a muggy boot camp at Thrive. As the Q, I wasn’t sure about the F3 lightning policy. I assumed it was something like, “Getting struck by lighting builds character/fuses your testicles into brass/etc.” I was actually informed that lightning is the only legitimate reason to cancel a workout. (I was a little disappointed to hear that… I guess even F3 has limits on crazy.) Ultimately, this never came up as the little green blobs on the satellite passed us by without incident.
What’s there to say? We ran, we jumped, we squatted, we pushed/sat up. On a morning where the humidity had to be at least 90%, we each sweated out the equivalent of a 7-11 Big Gulp. It was nice to have Senor Frog out for his first visit to Thrive. Hope he joins again.
Also, today was my final day working out with you guys. My family is relocating to Cary next week, so I’ll be F3-ing up there from now on. I’ve enjoyed the workouts and the fellowship. Mumblechatter at Thrive is indeed second to none (That’s what she said…)

Some hardy souls like to pre-run at 4:50 a.m. Others like to fart-sack all the way until the luxurious hour of 5:30. But what about folks who prefer the middle ground? There is now an answer for you… Sparta. It’s a running-themed bootcamp that meets at 5:15 at Matthews Elementary. This morning we had four pax who gathered in the 110% humidity for running, burpees, LBC’s, etc (but mostly running). At the end of an hour, we’d run 5.6 miles, then followed it up with a large COT with the gentlemen from Peak 51. Not a bad Thursday morning…
Mosey to Matthews UMC
Take 3 laps in church parking lot
10 burpees between each lap
Mosey back to Matthews Elementary
Take 3 laps around school track, between each lap do:
20 LBC’s
Mosey back through downtown; stop at parking lot next to train tracks
Take 3 laps (up the stairs and by the coffee shop). Between each lap do:
7 box jumps on wall
Mosey back towards school and hop on greenway
Run down to the giraffes (sewer vents) and back

On a beautiful spring morning, 11 pax gathered to celebrate Duke’s ouster from the NCAA tournament (or maybe that was just me). The festivities included running interrupted by occasional non-running activities.
Today’s Q also taught me an important lesson… apparently, leg lifts are not a hit. While assembling my Weinke, I threw some leg lifts (Jane Fondas) in there. Not the most common F3 workout, but seemed like a good way to work the glutes. However, from the reaction I got you’d think I proposed that we buy a case of Zima and have a Gilmore Girls marathon. There was general discontent and one person asked if we were going to have women join the workouts. Apparently, Jane Fonda and her headband have tarnished a perfectly normal leg workout. Duly noted…
In future Q’s, I will strive for manlier exercises. Alligator wrestling and chainsaw fights are not off the table. Neither is Cartman-style Roshambo.
Anyways, the thang…

Thanks for a great workout today, gents!
On a surprisingly wet and unsurprisingly chilly Tuesday, we had a good-sized crowd at Thrive. 15 pax showed up to brave the elements and burn off calories in advance of all the wings and pizza we’ll be consuming on Super Bowl Sunday…
