Weisel Anal Glands

Promptly at 5:30, 15 men headed out into the Gloom.

We circled up in the parking lot beside the hotel for a little warm up.

The Thang..

10 – Windmills

15 – Merkins

15 – Imperial Walkers

10 – Low Slow Squats

Next we moseyed over to Lochness by the first wall for some 8 count body builders in cadence.

Next we moseyed over to the next building for some 6 count burpees, also in cadence.

Mosey a little further over to the picnic tables for a few more 8 count body builders in cadence.

Now that we are all really warm we head to the fitness trail to get some lifting rocks so that we can do a little Jack Web in the adjacent field. (presses and LBC’s)

Place the rock back in the pile and mosey over to the bottom of bagpipe hill.

Here instructions were given. We would be heading up bagpipe hill to complete 10 burpees. Then we would head back down to complete 10 squats. Complete this route 3 times and head back for the 6.

After this we headed back to towards the fitness trial with a quick stop for some plank work to keep from getting run over.

At the fitness trial we divided into 3 groups to complete one round of exercises. 10 good pull-ups; 10 burpees and 15 dips. Rotate around the stations one time and head to the top of the trail for some Mary.

We had just enough time for 3/4 of a lap around Lochness. The one caveat is that you must bear crawl the bricks.

Head to the parking lot to gather the six and do some mary.

Mosey Home.

Moleskin….

YHC had a few issues today with his cadence count (what can I say… it was my VQ). I assure you I will watch the video wingman so kindly posted about 35 seconds after the workout. What can I say…. He is a giver.

There were quite a few Burpees and Bodybuilders planned today, but that number did go up a bit after all the bear poking.

Either way it was a great day. The group of pax followed instructions and pushed hard. It was great to see Paw Patrol and Boo Boo out for their 3rd work-out. Also, a big thank you to Tuck for leading the Mary. I appreciate the invite to lead here at Bagpipe. It was  an honor and a privilege to lead this fine group of men.

As for the title of the backblast, post workout there was a rousing discussion about animals with anal glands and if they needed to be expressed or not. Please forward all of your questions on this subject to Doc McStuffins. He is an expert on anal glands.

Remember to sign up for the Christmas Party and Joe Davis (there is a non-running option). Also, Escobar is taking donations of slightly used toys to send back to the homeland. Go through your kids toys and bring in all the extras (small toys are better due to the shipping costs). These will go to children in real need.

Also, I saw today that Bout Time’s son Jennings has been diagnosed with leukemia. Please send a special prayer up to the Sky Q for both him and his family.

F3 South Charlotte Supports Children’s Cancer Research at Isabella Santos 5K SPEED FOR NEED!!!! Area51/SOB/Indian Land

Event Summary

More than 70 F3Nation PAX, M’s, and 2.0’s registered and participated in SPEED FOR NEED’s debut in the South Charlotte Region at the Isabella Santos 5k.  Count the spectating supporters, and there were over 100+ supporters total from the F3 family.  What a great way to support a great cause, and kick off our new charity!

For only the second race, the entire fleet of racing chariots (4) were on display for the race, and it was a sight to see! Drivers and Track Commanders were as follows:

GREEN Racing Chariot:            Fire Hazard, Buckeye, Goonie                  (Track Commander – Lily)

RED Racing Chariot:                 Frasier, Thin Mint, Scabby                        (Track Commander – Kinzey)

BLUE Racing Chariot:               Fredo, Billy Goat, Strawberry                   (Track Commander – Andrew)

BLACK Racing Chariot:            Ickey Shuffle, Heartbreaker, Flipper         (Track Commander – Luke)

“For many of us, this was our first time witnessing first-hand the impact of SPEED FOR NEED on the riders, their families, and the drivers.  Goonie, Fire Hazard, and I had the pleasure of pushing Lily in the Green racing chariot.  As we practiced loading Lily into the chair, she wouldn’t sit still, constantly wanting to get in and out, seemingly uncomfortable in the chair.  Naturally, we were a little concerned about how she would manage during a 5k race without her father nearby to console her.  As we moved to the starting line, strapped her in, and took off down the road, Lily became ALL smiles.  The challenges life has presented her with took a backseat as she cruised down the road, wind blowing in her hair.  This was Lily’s Saturday sporting event; her moment to feel like part of a team; passing out high fives to her drivers and almost every other PAX (not named Mario).  When we finished the race, Lily kept wanting to get back in her green chair, overjoyed with her experience and more comfortable in her chariot. So comfortable that she asked her father to push her in the fun run.  This first-hand experience makes me realize the significance of this charity.  Until then, many of us had just been goofing around in the chair when JRR Tolkien has brought them around to the workouts, but seeing Lily’s face light up for that short race was an amazing gift.” – Buckeye, Event Co-Q

“From the beginning of SPEED FOR NEED I knew I would support the cause. JRR Tolkien had enough faith and drive for all F3. I knew it sounded like a good idea and I knew that other teams did it, but it didn’t all click in my head. I still had many questions even though I was the Q for the race… Did people really want to be pushed in races, is this really helping them, does this help with inclusion, and many others. Either way, we kept working and pulled it all together. On race day I was anxious to make sure all the pushers were there and that all the Track Commanders had waivers signed, tents were up, etc… Then it was time to meet the kids and their parents. To be honest it was a mixed bag. Some of the kids and parents seemed nervous like me and others were raring to go like JRRT. Either way it was time to go. I just tried to get Lily to warm up to me in hopes she wouldn’t cry during our race. Her dad was great. He helped us get her fitted in the chair and saved us by showing her a video while people were talking about stuff before they let us go. I was just thinking “why can’t we go already”. Lily is going to lose it and want to get out of this chair soon.. Finally, they let us go. Her dad ran the first 50 yards with us to make sure Lily was ok. Then we took off. I just figured a girl with this much energy would want to go fast. Luckily, we were behind the police motorcycle. Lily was a big fan of that. We just kept talking to Lily and giving her high 5’s. I had a minute to think.. “Hey, Lily is actually liking this”. I looked back, the other kids were having a great time too. Maybe this really is a good thing. As I had time to watch Buckeye and Goonie push and interact with Lily some more I started to understand the goal for SPEED FOR NEED. Those kids had a great time and I think my fellow pushers and I may have even had a better time. I was now 100% bought in, SPEED FOR NEED is a great thing for us and our community. We get to do what we like; run and push things, and we get to do it with some really great people (both in the chairs and out). SPEED FOR NEED has helped me meet new people, help some children do something they would not have been able too, and helped me have some great conversations with my own children about inclusion. If you have seen my short or non-existent backblasts you will realize that this is a lot of typing for me, but I wanted to give you my SPEED FOR NEED journey in hopes of getting any of you, who aren’t sure why we are doing this, out there and involved.” – Fire Hazard, Event Co-Q

We would encourage all PAX to participate in at least one SPEED FOR NEED race a year… just show up to one, and see what it does for you, your family, your community, the track commanders, their parents, and F3 Nation… you won’t be disappointed. Great work South Charlotte!

How about a little Murderhorn and some Rocks

24 or so men stepped into the Gloom to get a bit stronger and faster this sweaty a.m.

The thang….

5:30 lets go. Circle up in front of the theater and get disclaimed.

Next the warm up (all in cadence of course)

25 – SSH

10 x Merkins

15 x IW

10 x Windmills

Good enough… Head to the top of the murder Horn.

Run down on the left side and stop for 10 merkins at each street light. Gather up for some Mary.

Next head to the rock pile by the playground. Pair up and pick your rock judiciously your partner will be running to the park doing 10 pull-ups and back.

3 sets 1. curls 2. overhead press 3. tricep extensions

Plankorama while waiting for the 6.

Head over to the park for some more upper body work.

Everyone grab a seat for some dips, planks, derkins and what the heck maybe some step-ups.

Next we head back to the bottom of the murderhorn.

10 merkins at each light on the way up. push yourself hard. if you are in front do 15.

Everyone end together with 10 merkins in cadence.

Back over to the launch point for some Mary. That’s it.

Moleskin..

It was great leading so many men. Everyone did a great job pushing themselves today. I appreciate the effort. There were a few things I noticed. 1. The Harris Teeter has to Hate F3. I know of at least 2 men today who had to make pit stops today. Also, Goonie does not have good form, I think it is due to his soccer arms, he is a runner now if you didn’t notice.

Announcements:

Need for Speed is visiting SOB land in September. We need a good crew for both Chairs.

This weekend Need for Speed will be at the Morrison Y from 6 – 9. Come out and talk to people share F3 and Speed for Need.

A deer, a fox and a Pax walked into the woods………….

11 men rolled up to the Vine at 5:15 ready for a good beat down. YHC wanted to oblige them… so off we went.

The Thang,

We moseyed past Lochness and the fitness trial to the parking lot behind Snyder’s. Here we circled up for the disclaimer and the following:

  • 15 – SSH
  • 15 – IW
  • 10 – Merkins
  • 10 – Windmills

Next over to Bag Pipe hill.

YHC slowly explained that we would be doing 11’s on the hill.

Start with 10 Burpees at the top and 1 Squat at the bottom. Then do it again with 9 and 2 then 8 and 3….. you get it.

Trying to stay safe we will run up on the left and down on the left watching out for each other while crossing.

Then we met at the bottom did a little plan work and then we were over to the Fitness trail with 3 groups. The first group would do 10 pull-ups on the fitness trial closest to Lochness. The 2nd group would then do 10 big boy dips on the bars. Team 3 would start at the other side of the fitness trial with 10 pull-ups. Cycle thorough this 3 times and then meet at the top.

Then back to the launch site for a few minutes of Mary.

The thing prior to the THANG…

I tried to make a point during the instructions to make sure the Pax new to run on the left hand side of the road always and to watch each other while turning and shouting out if cars were coming. We have all heard of the loss in F3 Lexington. Let’s learn from this and be safer. It is easy to get complacent and think of these AO’s as our playgrounds, but these are open roads and tired motorists are not always paying attention.

Off my soap box and on the THANG….

So it took a lot of explaining to get Pax oriented to the 11’s on bag pipe hill. Where is the top???? what are we using as the bottom???? Burpees WHY????

So as everyone was grinding it out a few key things happened.

  1. A deer was seen crossing by wingman.
  2. Transporter ran into the same set of bushes that the Deer disappeared into.
  3. A fox was seen running out of the same bushes shortly after. Said fox was running erratically in the street.

So the events noted above brought up lots of mumble chatter. Why did transporter grab his shirt before running into the woods (Doc says this happens all the time with Transporter). Did Transporter accidentally bomb the foxes den, hence the foxes erratic behavior. Did the fox wonder what strange twig and berries had invaded his turf. Would transporter make it back sans shirt or with his shirt in tow.

Transporter did meet back up with us with his shirt (not sure if it was soiled or not. don’t ask don’t tell).

Everyone pushed hard today the 11’s were tough and we had almost 4 miles 38 minutes into the workout. During the fitness trail part of the workout I was beat and was heads down.

During the 11’s Doc was out in front the whole time as was transporter (until the bush incident). Haggis was having a bipolar day. He would tell me on the way down he wasn’t going to push hard today…. then he would fly by me on the uphill to catch Doc. Wingman was doing his job as the I.T. Q. Somehow he would catch up to me striding it out and not breathing hard and try to explain this new webpage. I had no idea what he was saying and I just wheezed OK between pants. Outback and Frehley’s pushed hard today and stayed with it until the very end. Buckeye and Fallout seemed to passed me on opposite sides of the road. I am not sure if they were in front or I was but we seemed to be on the same cycle round after round. Nard Dog was fast as always and somehow passed me multiple times on the uphill.  Argo was his normal silent self quietly killing it and pushing as hard as anyone out there.

Gazebo Fail

The Thang…

9 men showed up for the following:

Mosey over to the parking lot across from the start point and warm-up (all in Cadence):

25 – SSH

20 – IW

10 – Windmills

10 – Merkins

Mosey over to the walls near Tony’s pizza.

Go over the shortest section of the wall and then circle back and moving on the the next tallest section and go over the wall keep repeating for at least 5 rounds.

Next take a seat on the wall for some arm presses. Then Balls to the wall with 5 presses.

On the move again,  head over to the bull ring with a couple sets of 8 count body builders x 5.

Go to the center of the bull ring and partner up. Partners run around the putting green and meet on the other side for 10 hand slap merkins. Go back around and meet on the other side for 10 more hand slap merkins. Repeat that for 4 rounds.

Next we headed over to the pond behind the bull ring. Partner up again. Partner 1 runs the pond and partner 2 squats. Flap Jack.

Mosey over to the wall on the north side of the bull ring. 10 muscle ups with some planking for recovery. Complete 2 rounds.

Everyone grab a seat on the wall. Left leg high, regular, right leg high, regular, both legs up…. proper form is to use your arms on the top of the wall so that both legs are straight out.

Recover with some planks and 6 inch 10 counts.

Next mosey over to the fitness trail…but wait…. there is a gazebo back here. Let’s all squeeze in and put our feet on the rail for some derkins. Wait… 9 men cannot fit in this small gazebo. Fine then… just put your feet up somewhere and get some derkins done.

Head over to the fitness trail split up into 3 groups:

10 Dips

10 Pull-ups

5 Burpees

Repeat 3 times.

Head back to the Launch Site.

Moleskin…

The small crowd was made up of a bunch of old guys that like to complain. The complaining started prior to the workout when there was some discussion about partner carries. Tiger Rag and Fraiser were the leaders of this early revolt. Although, Tiger Rag completed almost 75% of the called exercises. Haggis once again caught the Scottish funk on his trip. He could only run at 1/3 of his normal pace… This was very good for YHC as 1/3 Haggis Speed is only 2 times YHC’s pace. Sooo I was only 1/5 the distance behind him for most of the workout. Outback and Fraiser were flat out flying on the hand slap merkins. I think Gumbo was the only person that did not complain about a single exercise we completed (or at least that I could hear… He spent quite a bit of time way in front of me). Lex Luther was fresh off of a Double Heavy Ruck!!!!!!! Great Work, Lex. 52 hours awake and working out just a week prior and he was pushing hard today. I didn’t get to workout with Nard Dog too much today. There was a green cloud of funk that seemed to follow him around the AO. Thanks to Wild Turkey for once again pushing me to do a pre-run. My apologies for having to cut it short due to my tired legs. As always, W.T. is a great pre-run partner to push you in both 1st and 2nd F.

As always it was a pleasure to lead a fine group of men.

Visit to the Big House

It had been a while since I posted at the big house was so glad to get the email so I was happy to see the email come that said I was on Q this beautiful Monday morning.

Three of us went for a pre-run to scout out the area.

First off this is all a little fuzzy due to me being a slacker that is super late on the BB.

The Thang..

Mosey over to the parking lot near the far field house for some warm-ups.

20 SSH

10 windmills

10 merkins

20 IW

From the field house we run to the end of the parking with 5 burpees at the beginning, 5 at the middle and 5 at the end.

Then we paired up (one team of three if you are doing the math) and did some sprints down the lot and back then flap jacked to get to a combined number on the following exercises.

100 – Merkins

150 – squats

200 – LBCs

Next we did a little Indian run down around the big field. Oh wait, what is that I, a brick wall at the dougout. Let’s stop here and do a little wall work which consisted of some presses, one legged peoples chair, and some balls to the wall with presses.

Next over to the small bench sized walls and partner up with a different partner. Partner 1 runs around the other set of small bench walls and then flapjacks with partner 2 who has been doing dips then switch again and do derkins. 3 rounds of this nonsense.

Next over to the playground for some pull ups. then head back to the start with some mary stops for fun on the way.

I remember everyone working hard and pushing each other. since this is so late that is all I’ve got.

It was great to be back at the big house I will not stay away as long next time.

It was a pleasure to lead this group of men and get too meet our FNG Blue Fox.

Where are the site Q’s??

I took this Q from Madam Taussaud as he had a very important drinking appointment. I was just glad I could help him out.

11 men resisted the fart sack and showed up at 6 o’clock on a cold Saturday morning to better themselves.

The Thang…

First we head over to the parking lot by the hotel to warm up with the following:

All in cadence

SSH x 20

Merkins x 10

Imperial Walkers x 15

Windmills x 10

We then headed down to the fitness trail and split up into 3 groups for 3 rounds of the following.

15 – Big boy dips

8-10 good form pull-ups

8 – burpees

Then head over to the parking lot by Snyders and pair up for some team work and finish the following combined:

100 – Merkins

150 – Squats

200 – LBCs

Then head over to the wall for some muscle ups and sprint 20 yards to do some squats. 3 rounds of 10 each.

Then head over to the hill in front of TIAA for some 7’s. Burpees at the bottom and squats at the top.

Cross the street and get ready for some work on bagpipe hill. Head up to the snyders sign and give 10 merkins. Then go back to the start and do 10 bomb Jacks. Head back up to the top of the bridge and do 10 more merkins. Back to the bottom fo r10 more bomb jack and then find the 6 and finish the last 10 bomb jacks together.

Head back to the lochness picnic tables for some in cadence dips (20) and incline merkins (15).

Mosey back to the hotel parking lot for 8 – 8 count body builders in cadence.

Head back to the AO for some Mary.

Moleskin

Today we had a great group of men.

Nemo (Marlin’s 2.0) was killing it all day and making us old guys look well…..old. Torpedo was there for most of the workout, although he did have to make a quick trip to the gas station for something. Great to see you out again Torpedo. Chipotle said he would go find Torpedo so that he new where we were. Chipotle was either being a #HIM or didn’t like my workout. I am not sure which. I choose to believe the first option. Nard Dog showed up a bit late. He had some excuse about watching Frehley’s with binoculars until the wee hours of the AM. It was great to see Billy Goat out keep posting and pushing it. Great work today. Cheddar was back with his Jingling keys. Last time he was out he hid them on a tire and forgot which one. It was pretty funny watching him go all the way around the car to find them. It was also good to see Big Tuna back in SOB land. It seems he is now one of those Union County boys. Keep them straight over there. Gumbo was finally back from his fractured foot and pushing hard. Glad to see you healthy again. Great to see Catheter out again today. For the record that is 3 posts in his first week. Great work, don’t forget to post after your 9 days of early mornings at the hospital. I like teaming up with Marlin on the exercises a whole lot better than him punching me at Fight Club. Don’t let the respect fool ya. He has a hay maker that would knock you slap out.

Thanks for giving me the chance to lead. I appreciate all of the hard work from all of you.

FH

Let’s head to the garage I am afraid of the sprinkles

12 or so men headed out to into the gloom for a quick warm-up and some garage work
Warm-up:
SSH x 20
Windmills x 10
Merkins x 10 IC

Head to the garage for the real THANG…
Head to the bottom of the only garage in which we are officially allowed to better ourselves.
All the way to the bottom and partner up.
Partner 1 heads to the far wall and back while partner 2 is doing some Merkins. Flapjack until 200 total Merkins are accumulated.
Next do the same thing but with 300 squats.
Run up a couple of flights with some Mary to get everyone caught up.
Partner up again with a different partner. Same style workout but with an accumulated 100 burpees.
Head back down to the parking garage and back to the AO with Merkins, a lot of plank work, and some Mary to until we got to the CVS then all you got to the Vine.

Moleskin:
There was a solid group of guys giving full effort. The one thing I learned today is that if you team up Frehley’s and Nard Dog you will have a very gaseous adventure. Be warned future Q’s.
I appreciate Bucky and Morning After letting me Q this fine group of men. Great to see Kirby and Jillo (if that is his name) out and pushing to get better today. Per the usual Mic Check and General are always fast and strong. Also, I wanted to note that Market Timer only had on one shirt which is confusing. I think we should start counting how many times this happens. Also, fallout appears to be much faster than I remember so my guess is he has been pushing wherever he has been posting. Great group of men today.
Announcement
Bring toys to your Q this week or to the Christmas Party.
Sign-up for the race (5k/10k) or even the Fartsack version.

Yes, Cheese Curd the BB is late

11 men showed up to make themselves better.

We headed over to the parking lot for some warm-up

Windmills, SSH and Imperial Walkers all in cadence.

Then we headed over to Ben Nevis for some hill running. The instructions were easy: Run up Ben Nevis stopping to do merkins at each road crossing on the right. Start with 5 merkins then add 5 more at each crossing. you would end with 25 merkins at the end of the hill.

We gathered at the top and did some did some Mary. Then we headed back down Ben Nevis with the same instructions just switch out the Merkins for squats.

More Mary while we gathered then head over to the lake with the bridge on Ballantyne Corporate Drive. A little Dip Planks while the instructions were given.

7’s were called up the grass hill, Start with 1 squat at the top and 6 burpees at the bottom. in between each set do a lap around the lake.

Finish the last lap around the lake together. Then we moved to a triple nickel up the stairs by the pond. 5 burgees at the top and  5 squats at the bottom for 5 rounds. Gather at the top from some Mary and head back to the AO. On the way we completed some sprints and suicides.

MS:

First off, yes I am late with the BB and was called out on twitter by the Site FNG Cheese Curd. I was definitely smoked by this workout. Chasing Thin Mint and Fahvra around all morning can be exhausting. The good news is I think they only lapped me once on the 7’s (at least that is all I will admit too). I everyone pushed hard and stuck really close together.

Unfortunately, due to the lateness of the BB and the oxygen deprivation from the workout I do not have lots of fun banter for the backblast. Touché Cheese Curd, I should write these on time.

Great to lead this fine group.

No announcements due to the fact that they would all be expired by now.
