It’s never too warm for camo

Metro and South invaded the DMZ to see if the Brilliant Comrade (aka Great Leader) would show up this time. He did show up, and was appropriately dressed for the weather….unlike Agony who heard it was going to be fifteen degrees rather than fifty…oh well, you can never go wrong with camo.

Mosey to Carmel MS. Circle up for some SSH x25, merkins x15, mountain climbers x25, Parker Peters x20, LBCs x20.  Tighten up the circle, and hold the plank while each of the pax sprints around the circle.  Various combinations of hands high, legs high and 6 inches, and some very saggy planks (Swiper).  Counts were difficult to maintain because of the wall of sound coming from Agony and Swiper, who were entertaining themselves, and eventually the rest of the pax with a long and sordid sounding story.  I didn’t catch much of it, but it seemed to revolve around Agony and a Latin American cabana boy called Luis (or was it Juan?).

Audible called on the plank circle, partly due to the numbers of pax and partly because continuing would have meant further installments of Agony’s Latin escapades.  Sprint around the school and back to parking lot.  Get into groups of three, one on each side of the lot and one sprinting between; merkins at one end and LBCs/flutters etc. at the other.  Each person 5x across the lot.

Sprint around the school and back to the ramp. Plank holding on to the railings all the way up the ramp.  Person at the bottom bear crawls underneath and all the way up, then back to where they started.  Cycle through 2x.  Some folks seemed to have trouble holding their plank (so to speak), while Agony just had trouble with the basic instructions.

Sprint around the school and back around to the wooden benches for some dips x30, derkins x15, dips x20, derkins x10, dips x 20. Watch the suspicious white van pull up to the school…..apparently it had something to do with Luis but we don’t need to go back there.  Over to the wall for peoples chair, two legged and one legged versions, and then the decline mountain climber…a crowd favorite.

Mosey back up Camilla. 10 burpees at each speed bump.  Back to the parking lot for some Mary… 20+ each of dollies, flutters, rosalitas, knee-ups and Russian twists.

Good crowd, mild morning, and plenty of jaw exercising going on….all-in-all a fine start to a Monday.  Appreciate the chance to lead, and thanks to Agony for taking us out.  Au revoir…

Advantage…Pax

With Independence Day safely in the rear view mirror, British rule was once again reasserted over the DMZ pax. With another classic Wimbledon final fresh in the memory, this morning’s workout had a certain tennis feel to it, both in terms of location and each count.

Circle up on the tennis courts: SSH x 40, Merkins x 15, Mountain Climbers x 30

Line up on one side of the courts for a 5 set match:

Set 1; Sprint to the other side and back, bicycles x 15, repeat sprint, dollies x 30, repeat sprint, LBCs x 40: Rinse and repeat for Sets 2-5 with 15x and 30x of various ab exercises including knee-ups, Russian twists, Rosalitas, flutters and always finishing each set with LBCs x 40

Mosey the long way round to the central part of Church @ CLT. Partner-up;

Partner 1 stays put and does derkins x 15, squats x 30 and dips x 40; partner 2 sprints around the church; switch while partner 1 sprints. Rinse and repeat 3x for each partner, a total of 6 games (1 set) per team.

Mosey to bottom of parking lot and head up the parking lot by way of:

13 broad jumps, 13 merkins

10 broad jumps, 10 double count dry docks

13 broad jumps, 13 double count LBCs

12 broad jumps, 12 hand release merkins

10 broad jumps, 10 double count dollies

The vague method to the counting madness – the total number of games in each set of yesterday’s final.

Just time for a tie-breaker; back to the center of the church and find your partner again, one more lap for each partner while the other does derkins x 15 and burpees x 15; mini plank-o-rama while the pax finish up, and a quick Mahktar N’Diaye x10

A good showing from the Pax today, although the Monday morning, post-Independence Day mood was a little quieter than usual.  Appreciate the opportunity to lead….and the willingness of the Pax to follow instructions from a Brit.  Thanks to Snowflake (War Daddy) for taking us out.

“The kids are off school, you are off work, and you’re STILL getting up at 5am?”

Sixteen of South Charlotte’s finest converged on the DMZ playground for a little frosty fun.  The thang….

SSHx25

To Carmel Middle by way of Imperial Walkers, Lunges, and a short sprint

Dipsx25 on the benches (station #1)

Sprint to corner of parking lot for some Mary (station #2)

Sprint to side of school for some decline mountain climbers (x20), squats (x20) and people’s chair (station #3)

Split into 4 groups and do several rotations of the three pain stations; three groups are always exercising and one group always moving between stations

Mosey to center of field

Merkinsx20

Sprint half track; out halfway line to track, sprint round to half way line on other side; as soon as first guy gets to half way all pax converge back to center of field from wherever they are on the track

Merkinsx20

Repeat sprint…each pax tries to get further round track than previous time before first guy is home

Back into 4 groups: Station #1 Half way line – merkins / Station #2 25yd line – squats / Station #3 goal line – burpees.  Rotate – station 1 to station 2, bear crawl; station 2 – station 3, crab walk; station 3 to station 1, sprint.

Mosey back to parking lot with 5 burpees at stop sign and each speed bump

Moleskin: Thanks to those of the 16 pax who did not have to go to work today but still ignored the very logical question (paraphrased from Love Boat’s M) in the header.  Was trying to keep things moving this morning.  Pax seemed a bit confused to be doing SSHs in the parking lot…needed their usual mosey to get going.  Finally had the chance to actually walk while doing Imperial Walkers (always wanted to do that, but it’s still a lame exercise).

Great to have several DMZ FNGs…come back soon.

Thanks for the chance to lead.  FF
