Grumpy Old Man

It was a little nippy this morning, and 9 men showed up at the charge to find out what Chowda had planned for his birthday party. We had a few stragglers due to lack of planning for scraping the ice off the windshield, warming up the car, etc. So we took a lap around the upper lot before heading to the field for a lap around the track, and COP SSH x25, Merkin x10, MC x15. Mosey to the goal line for some ladders of pain. Run the length of the field stopping every 10 yards for the called exercise increasing reps from 1 – 10 on the way out, decrease from 9-1 on the way back.

Round 1 Burpees (crowd pleaser), plank until the Q finishes, 51 LBC’s IC, take a lap

Round 2 Monkey Humpers (reps x2), plank until the Q finishes, 51 Freddie Mercury IC, take a lap

Round 3 HR Merkins (arm fail), plank until the Q finishes, Wall Sit, 10 air press IC

Animals – Bear Crawl 25 yds, Crab Walk 25 yds, reapeato, sprint back to the goal line

Nice work out there, a lot of heavy breathing in COT. Thanks for sharing the first hour of your day with me on my Birthday.

The Charge is planning to shutter its doors after next week. It has been a regular stop for me over the past few years, and I will miss connecting with our Area 51 brothers each week. Let’s make sure we close out the AO with a bang next week if we can’t find a way to sustain this workout. Kudos to DD’s and Baracus for sustaining this group on the outskirts of Area 51 and Metro.

Animal Math

Six men posted to The Charge this morning for some Chowda. There were no clams, but I think I saw some crabs on the field that were being chased by alligators and bears. After some brief pleasantries in the parking lot, we moseyed to the track for a lap + COP – SSH x25, Merkins x10, IW x15. Mosey to the corner of the track for 3 rounds of Math: 10 HR Merkins + 20 Elbow PJ’s + 30 LBC + 400 Meters. Reconvene at the goal line for Animal Math: 10 yds of Alligator Merkins + 20 yds of Bear Crawl + 30 yds of Crab Walk + 40 yds of Cheetah Dash. Rinse and Repeat. Circle up for LBC, Flutter, R/L Oblique. Meander to the wall for Peoples Chair + 20 Air Press + B2W for 30 cnt + PC + 15 AP + B2W for 20 cnt. Mosey to the benches for 11’s – Dips and Derkins. Circle up for Dolly + H2H. Run 1.75 laps, and head to COT. Plankorama until the bell tolls.

Feel Da Pain

Ten men came out to see what Chowda might bring to the table at The Charge, and it turned out something like this:

Mosey to the cut through behind the carpool circle and circle up for COP SSH x25, Squat x15, Merkin x15, MCx15. Mosey to the Amphitheatre for some escalating triple doom (step ups, dips and derkins). Rd1 10 reps of each, Rd2, 10,15,15, Rd3 10,20,20, Rd4 10,25, 25 (crowd pleaser), Rd5 10,10,10.  Mosey back to the stadium, up the steps and over the top, then down to the field. Circle up for Flutter x15 and HTH x15. Line up on the goal line for Feel Da Pain: Rd1 Run the length of the field stopping every 10 yds for Burpee ladder (1-10), sprint back (more like a hobble for YHC). Rd2 Ditto w/ Sumo Jump Squats. Rd3 Bear Crawl 25 yds, Crab Walk 25 yds, mosey back to goal line, Rd4 HR Merkin ladder (1-10) (another crowd pleaser). Rd5 LBC Ladder (5-25) increase by 5 every 20 yds, plank at end. Rd6 BC 25yd, CW 25yd, sprint to end. Rd 7-9: Sprint to 50, Mosey back, Sprint 100, Mosey back, Sprint to 50 AYG, Mosey back. Mosey to COT + 5LBC’s. I think this one actually looks worse on paper. Apologies to Sump, I only read the headline of his email that said he would try to make it out to the charge, missed the part about going easy because he has been sleeping through his alarm. I think he was still grateful in the end, and he will sleep like the dead tonight.

Strong group out there today, Icicle was crushing the feel da pain, but he had to exit early due to commuting distance. It was an honor to lead today,

Nine Wise Men

Nine Wise Men showed up at The Charge to see if they were #wickedsmaaht. It turned out they were, and they are also in pretty good shape.

We set off as the LIFO’s rolled in, and circled around the upper lot, then gathered at the stadium for some COP: SSHx25, SquatX20, MerkinX15, MCX20. Mosey to the bleachers to visit the 1st wise man: 10 dips/10 derkins on the bleachers, then run up the stairs and across, then down the next set of stairs. Repeat until you get to the far end of the bleachers, then run up the steps, and down the back stairs to the back side of the stadium. Run back to the upper lot to visit the 2nd wise man at bear crawl alley. Bear crawl through the cones and plank until the Pax is done. Mosey back down to the track to visit the 3rd wise man: 5 Burpees, run a lap stopping at the far end for 40 Plank Jacks, 5 more Burpees at the end. Repeat 2 more times for a total of 3 x 3 = Nine Wise Men.
