Freud Performs Psychotherapy on the PAX

15 of F3’s finest gathered at CCHS ready to get the weekend started off right.   While Chelms was the Q, Freud ended up performing some psychotherapy on the PAX.

The Thang:

Jog over to small parking lot for COP.  SSHX20, Stagger R and L Merkins X10 each, CDD X10, Diamond Merkins X10, Wide Arms X10, and Imperial Walkers X19.   Jog back to start to see why Rock Thrill and Mighty Mite headed back to the cars.   Security check completed, we headed over to the swim club for some cards (more like Russian Roulette).

Member of pax draws a card (A-1, 3, 5, 7, 9, Q=11, K=13, Joker = Wild Card) and we perform number of exercises per the drawn card with spades being bear crawl, club being LBC, heart being burpies, and diamond being diamond merkins (of course).   Not sure if I remembered correctly but we mostly drew spades

  • Card 1 – 7 of spades
  • Card 2 – 5 diamonds
  • Card 3 – King of Spades (audible to count run back down to start as 1 – did 7 sets of crab walks)
  • Card 4 – 5 hearts
  • Card 5 – 9 of spades
  • Card 6 – 5 clubs
  • Card 7 – Joker (5 count of each of the four exercises)

Jog over to entrace to football field and chose a rock.  Perform 5 curls, 10 push presses, 15 lateral extensions (??), 20 merkins, and 25 LBC’s.and then run around football field. Rinse and repeat 3 times (carrying rock around field third lap – that sucked)

COP for 6MOM – High flutter, dolly, freddie mercury and then turnover for mountain climbers X20.

Naked Moleskin:

Smaller crowd than normal due to mud run tomorrow (Smartsacking per Abacus although that term should be banned from our vocabulary) but I prefer workouts with less than 20 so it was great.   PAX pushed hard thru two routines that I stole because they are hard.

Freud decided to get to work early and perform some psychotherapy on the PAX by constantly drawing spades and making the PAX bear crawl over and over.   Maybe he thought some of the PAX still need help with the Oedipus Complex (See below).  He psyched out the Q as I figured our luck had to turn so I kept asking him to draw another card.   He pulled the joker as the last draw (go buy a lottery ticket today Freud).

Announcements:

Please consider tutoring or getting invovled in some other F3 community outreach program.   Or better yet, start your own.   The third F is important and men of F3 are wired for impact.

The annual run to support drug addicition will be in early January at Baxter Village (Fort Mill) and sign ups start this weekend.  Great event with both 5k and 10k (or double down) opportunity.  Rock Thrill to provide more info later.

Good luck to all the F3 men in the Mud Run tomorrow and stay safe.

From Wikipedia –

The term Oedipus complex (or, less commonly, Oedipal complex) denotes the emotions and ideas that the mind keeps in the unconscious, via dynamic repression, that concentrates upon a child’s desire to have sexual relations with the parent of the opposite sex (i.e. males attracted to their mothers, and females attracted to their fathers).[1][2] Sigmund Freud, who coined the term “Oedipus complex” believed that the Oedipus complex is a desire for the parent in both males and females; Freud deprecated the term “Electra complex“, which was introduced by Carl Gustav Jung in regard to the Oedipus complex manifested in young girls. The Oedipus complex occurs in the third — phallic stage (ages 3–6) — of the five psychosexual development stages: (i) the oral, (ii) the anal, (iii) the phallic, (iv) the latent, and (v) the genital — in which the source of libidinal pleasure is in a different erogenous zone of the infant’s body.

In classical Freudian psychoanalytic theory, a child’s identification with the same-sex parent is the successful resolution of the Oedipus complex and of the Electra complex. This is a key psychological experience that is necessary for the development of a mature sexual role and identity. Sigmund Freud further proposed that boys and girls experience the complexes differently: boys in a form of castration anxiety, girls in a form of penis envy; and that unsuccessful resolution of the complexes might lead to neurosis, pedophilia, and homosexuality. Men and women who are fixated in the Oedipal and Electra stages of their psychosexual development might be considered “mother-fixated” and “father-fixated”. In adult life this can lead to a choice of a sexual partner who resembles one’s parent.

F3 and Trips for Kids – Round 2 (Round 3 to be on 10/11)

F3 partnered with Trips for Kids and took 11 Bull Dogs Matters kids to Francis Beatty park for some mountain bike riding.

The Thang:  Farside and Linda Walden, Crossroads volunteer, piled 11 kids into 2 cars due to mix up with church van and head out to Francies Beatty.   T-claps to these 2 as the cars were packed for the ride.

Distribute gear (helmuts, gloves, bikes, and water bottle), provide some guidance for new kids, and head out.  Ride about 5 miles, with a few jumps and only one wreck, before lunch. Perfect day and kids had an awesome time.

NEXT RIDE IS OCTOBER 11 at 9am.   Please consider joining us.   Contact Farside or Chelms for directions to the starting point.

Hey All,

I am so glad to hear the ride went so well. The pictures are awesome! Brittni and Carmen came over on Saturday after the ride and they were telling me all about it. They said they had a great time although it was hard work! Thank you for taking them and offering these kids such a wonderful and special opportunity!

Blessings,

Rebekah

F3 Tutoring Kicks Off Year 3 – Volunteers needed

F3 started tutoring at Billingsville Elementary in the 2011-2012 school year and expanded the program to include AG Middle School in 2013-2014.   We are once again expanding with Area 51 starting a program in Mathews for the 2014-2015 school year.  Along with growth comes the need for more men to get involved and help make an #impact in our community.

Billingsville Tutoring – we are starting our 4th year working with the kids and launch on Tuesday’s at 4:30pm. We generally build-up to a weekly average of about 12-14 PAX, but are always looking for new blood to join the ranks.  We want to insure that there are enough men in place should daily work schedules prohibit some from making it any given week. With the success of the AG program, we have lost several regulars from years past and need to replace if possible. Come one, come all.  Contact Super Dave (David Hendrick <dhendrick@collett.biz>) or Kickin Chicken (Robby Bowers <rbowers@arcadiahomesinc.com>) for more information and to get involved.

AG Middle School and the Bull Dogs Matter after school program – We once again are partnering with Cross Roads to support their after school program at AG Middle School.   The school has agreed to allow F3 to create a special program in an effort to help F3 make an even greater impact.  We will focus on teamwork, respect, and self confidence and implement a model similar to the F3 workout model whereby a designated Q leads the kids (and other PAX who we need to assist) thru a team building exercise (plenty of resources available to help the “Q”).   We will meet every Thursday at AG Middle School at 4:45 and lead the kids thru team building from 5:00 to 5:40.  Alternatively, regular tutors may be needed for kids that chose not to participate or lose the privilege to particiapte.  We are also recruiting female volunteers to help wtih team building as the boys and girls will be separated for the activities. Contact Chelms at pchepul@gmail.com for more information.

Area 51 – Champagne (bdbriggs@gmail.com) is heading up our tutoring expansion in Matthews.   Please contact him for more details.   As this is a new location, we need men to step up and get involved in typical F3 fashion.

We are blessed with all we have, including this opportunity to give back to others less fortunate than we are.  Please help us make a difference in the lives of young kids who often have high hurdles to overcome

Nothing new to see here

24 of South Charlotte’s finest turned away from the temptation of Fartsacking on Friday and gathered at CCHS for their weekly does of Centurion.    Each man grabbed 2 bricks from the Q’s SUV and off we went.

The Thang:

Jog to lower parking lot for COP

  • SSH X21
  • Merkins X15
  • John Travolta X21 (each arm)
  • 10 burpees OYO
  • 20 push presses

Jog thru campus and across 51 to parking lot next to Mcdonalds for COP

Plank till the 6 arrives with right arm out front with brick and then flap jack.   Man maker merkins X21

Jog over to Palentine Hill, going up and down twice before gathering at normal starting point.   Triple nickle (sans bricks) with 5 burpees at top and 5 squats at bottom (5 times).

6MOM (brick extended behind head entire time) with low flutter, Rosalita, dolly, and high flutter

Back to Palentine for Jacobs ladder – burpees 1 up to 7

Jog back to parking lot next to McDonalds for squats X21 and 20 push presses

Job back to school parking lot

  • Lunge walk with push press after each step down to first light, sprint back
  • Burpee broad jump to first light, sprint back
  • Carioca down to 2nd light, facing field.  Face same direction and Carioca back to starting point
  • Backward run down to 2nd light
  • COP for merkins X21

Naked Moleskin:

In honor of my wife putting up with me for 21 years (as of yesterday), most of the cadence exercises were to 21.  I don’t know why I deserve such a great wife but am thankful for a strong marriage.

YHC is losing creativity as bricks have been used multiple times this year.   However, the little b#2tards are harder to lug around for 45 minutes than one would think (#smallpackagewithbigpunch).  I did audible and not require they be lugged up Palentine during triple nickle and Jacobs Ladder so it could have been worse.  Need to work on some sand bags and 12 foot PVC pipe for the future (#nomoreoakstumps)

Pretty sure I got the day started off right when I heard some mumble chatter about the Q being pissed off at something after the first set of John Travolta’s.   YHC was fine, just trying to push everyone to get better.

Of all the people to slack off, I notice Frasier is doing the Carioca sans bricks while the rest of the PAX follows Q’s directions.   May have to bring some duct tape next time to strap those suckers to his hands and make him run with a ruck sack so the rest of the PAX has a chance keeping up.

Finally, Q is happy to no longer be a regular War Daddy as we now have multiple “Respects” every Friday morning, including Checkpoint, who pushes the PAX every week.

Announcements:

Tutoring getting kicked off in a few weeks at Billingsville, AG Middle School, and a school in Matthews (Champagne is the Q).  Email me at pchepul@gmail.com for more information on any of the locations.

Convergence on Labor Day at 7am at Carmel Road Park (DMZ site).

As always, it was a privilege and an honor to lead such a great group of men this am.

Something new?

Only way to find out is to show up at CCHS at 5:25 tomorrow am

Miracles abound this AM

Post by Chelms on behalf of Dredd

The shovel flag was planted (Escargot is a great site leader) and 33 men were ready to get after it with Dredd on Q (several started at 5am with some KB work to get warmed up).

The thang:

Jog up to parking lot for quick warmup of SSH in cadence.

Jog up to entrace of school for a burpee ladder from 10 down 2 and finish with 10 for good measure (short rest in between each set via 10 count, 9 count, 8 count etc,)

Jog over to bus parking lot for 6 minutes of mary (flutters, dolly, high, low. etc – you get the idea).

Jog back to regular parking lot for COP – Merkins, Plank, Wide Arms, etc.

Jog around football field and back to school entrance.  Dips X10 and Decline merkins X10 – Rinse and repeat

Jog around football field again (i think) and back to parking lot for a jacobs ladder – run down to shovel flag and back up to starting point – 7 burpees down to 1 (obvioiusly).

FInish with some plank, LBC’s, etc.

COP

Naked Moleskin:

First miracle was Dredd finding his way to CCHS given its south of Fairview.   Luckily Siri talks to him (one of the few “voices” that can keep up and get a word in) and guided him in for an on time start.  Great to have the original Nan Tan out.   Not sure about others but I noticed a few Q techniques I need to use more often.

Second miracle was, well, “Miracle”, an FNG.  He got EH’d by two F3’ers from Columbia while in San Francisco.  Go figure.  Dredd is busting his chops about keeping in synch with his cadence (perfect per Dredd) and FNG doesn’t even know how cadence works.  Kirk is contributing to the chaos by telling Dredd that the FNG is Koi Pond.

Great work by all.  As Dredd noted, if you were out this am then you are a better man – Iron Sharpens Iron

Favorite line of the day by our Q “I alone do not judge your grooming habits, just your form”.  Pretty sure that one has been used before.

Great take out by Dredd to send us off ready to take on the day

Annoucnements
Tutoring programs back in action next month, including new Area 51 program in Mathews.  Contact Champagne or contact Chelms if you are interested in helping out at Billingsville or AG Middle School

A little diversion from running – sort of

The virtual flag was planted and 18 of F3’s finest gathered for their weekly dose of Fast Twitch – one hour version (whose idea was that on a work day #bossmaycatchmenapping).

The Thang (X=Cadence):

Warm-up COP – SSH, Mtn Climbers, and Jumping Lunges all 20X

Run down Strawberry Lane to intersection with Rosecliff – 20 merkins OYO

Run Down Rosecliff, left on Brownes Pond and stop at Coburn Ct intersection – 20 merkins OYO

Run down to bottom of Coburn Ct and partner up for half pipe partner runs.  Partner 1 runs up to intersection with Brownes Pond and does 5 burpees while Partner 2 runs up to intersection with Cabell View Ct and does 5 turksih get-ups.   Run back to start and perform 10 partner hand shake (or slap) merkins before hitting the other half of the half pipe.  Rinse and repeat 3 times (4 for Splinter and TL).

COP for squats (whisper mode) 20X

Jog up to intersection of Coburn Ct and Cary RIdge road – 20 merkins OYO.  Jog up to Hwy51 for 20 merkins OYO.  Jog/run back to school and meet at goal line with LBC’s while we wait for the 6.

Modifed beast (time limited us to three rounds)  – 6 of called excercise at six stops as we run 110 yards down and back.   Due to time limit we started in reverse order with Burpees (sucked)

  • Burpees
  • Jumping lunges
  • Squats

Job back to starting point for COT.

Naked Moleskin:

Didn’t get to 5 miles today as we spent more time than usual doing burpees, merkins, and assorted other excercises. YHC ran a fairly long LSD on Sunday so figured there was no reason to try to set a Fast Twitch distance record.  Purple Haze did ask that we stay away from Yassou’s and the Q obliged (for once, PH got his way but also my excuse as to why this was closer to boot camp than running workout).

The usual suspects (Splinter and TL) were killing it on the half pipe.  However, no Larry Bird’s for them on the modified Beast so maybe they got their money’s worth early (or they prefer running to boot camp style exercises).

Pretty dark morning back in the hollow on Coburn Ct.   We may need to add “watch out for cranky old biker riders” to our disclaimer but luckily no one was run over.  His advice to wear lights was duly noted but I for one don’t like any extra weight.  Don’t runners have the right of way?  Isn’t Fast Twitch famous enough that any bike rider within 400 miles should know to watch out for us in the gloom?   And why didn’t anyone give him a sticker and the #F3Gears hashtag?

As always, it was a privilege to lead such a great group of men, even if half of them smoked me on the run back to the school

Announcements – Contact Champagne or YHC if you can help us with the tutoring efforts in Charlotte and good luck to Hops on his job interview today.

Now for Something a Little Different

Ok – the Featured Image is the same as last night and I had my usual number of Q fails but the work-out was out of ordinary for Centurion – no running or sprints.    Makes it a little harder to push the PAX, 22 of whom showed up, but YHC did his best.

The Thang:

Mosey to parking lot for COP (we settled in for long COP)

Warm-up

  • SSHX30
  • 15 burpees
  • MerkinsX20
  • SquatsX25

Round 1 – She Hate Me (see lexicon for history) – OYO

  • 10 lunges each leg (20 count), 10 merkins, 10 burps – as many as you can do until Q says halt (pretty sure I did 1 more round than PH and Mermaid but 3 less than Magee)

Round 2 – Mini Tabatta (20 seconds on and 10 second rest for 4 minutes)

  • Round 1 – LBC’s
  • Round 2 – Merkins (called off at about 3 minutes due to Q shoulders going numb – IR has YHC out of shape)

Round 3 – Dirty MacDeuce (chest/abs/core)  – 4 sets of 3 exercises in cadence to 12 with 10 burpees in between each set (supposed to be 12 seconds of rest but men of Centurion don’t need rest)

  • Round 1 – Squats/CDD/Flutter
  • Round 2 – One legged SSH/Wide Arms/rosalita
  • Round 3 – Imperial walker/Peter Parker/dolly
  • Round 4 – Rotating jump squat/Parker Peter/Freddie Mercury

Mosey to entrance to school for bear crawl/monkey humper jumps (#Qfail)/balls to the wall walk circuit X2

Mosey to picnic tables for 20 dips, 15 decline merkins, and 10 jump ups X3

Mosey back to parking lot for Magee audible – burpee broad jumps from 2nd light to 4 light (or until time runs out for everyone but Magee)

COT

Naked Moleskin:

Q gave warning via pre-blast that no running would be invovled as running and gout don’t go together.    Ankle felt great afterward so I made the right call (for me at least – PAX is third) but I prefer to run more so don’t plan on repeat.

Good to see Magee out at Centurion for first time – double hate pushed the PAX.  Come back anytime (or every time).

Welcome FNG Fried Okra – Doug Brown.  Doesn’t get easier but you will get stronger if you show up.   Hope to see you again next week.

Shout out below if you want credit for KB work.    Forgot to ask who showed up early.

Announcements:

F3 Dads this Saturday at Francis Beatty at 9, Champagne organizing tutoring program at Matthews Elementary (Think that is what he said – watch for preblast or contact Champagne), summer volunteer opportunities at AG Middle School (2 hours normal from 12:30 to 2:30 – email me at pchepul@gmail.com if you can help), The Stand meets every Friday at Panera right next door after Centurion, and Mud Run sign up deadline is next week.

As always, it is an honor and privilege to lead such a great group of men.

Preblast – Rich Man’s workout

As Q is recovering from recent flare of gout (the disease of kings per Wikapdia – “Historically, it has been referred to as “the king of diseases and the disease of kings”[8][54] or “rich man’s disease”.[55]  – proof that Abacus and I are descendants of royalty), Centurion tomorrow will have much less running and no bricks or other “implements”.   Whether or not this means it will be relatively easy is a closely guarded royal family secret.   Subjects wishing to bear gifts (ie Mermaid) are welcome.

KB starting around 5:00am for those inclined.
