Cat Call

Cat Call

Cooler temps this morning. Lots of sleeves, but no tights. Gloves were prevalent. About dang time if you ask YHC. 21 men, including YHC, assembled at Centurion. Co-site Q, Margo, planted the shovel flag. Solid mumblechatter prior to launch. YHC gave the 1-minute warning and dead silence ensued. Never seen that before. FNG was welcomed, group was disclaimed (Haze called it weak; noted), and off we went.

A random woman hollered at us in COP. Not sure what she said, but one of the PAX replied that it was indeed a cat call.

Kotters to Chelms,Abacus, and Shoe. Great to have you all back out at Centurion. Chelms has been traveling, Shoe is battling a nagging knee issue, and Abacus has early morning commitments. He is your Q next week. YHC and Margo, co-site Q’s, both DR next Friday.

Kotters to Fire Marshall Bill. He cut out early.

Welcome to FNG, Snuffy. CCHS alumni brought out by another CCHS alum, HIPAA. Glad to have Snuffy join us. Solid work today. Look forward to seeing him back out soon. YHC introduced himself prior to the workout. Snuffy was surprised to meet Mermaid at 5:24am. Next was Utah. Apparently, HIPAA did not give much pre-intel to his buddy. After finding out the name deal, Snuffy proceed to tell the group about his high school nickname. Not the best idea. YHC tried the same thing.

As usual, Haze was talking smack to the Q. Weak disclaimer, an on-edge Q, etc. Champagne told YHC he is predictable. Fair enough. Margo called the Triple Nickel on Palatine. Yep, called a lot by the Q. Remember, it was YHC who brought this little set to life at Anvil back in the day. Some of you may have been there. It did the trick this morning to get the heart rate up early on.

Lorax and Brilleaux leading the way this morning. Brushback getting quickly back into form with regular posting. Up front on the Triple Nickel. Rest of the Pax bunched up not too far back. Strong work from all, minus the refuseniks on the plank Jacks (Haze), low plank Jacks (Haze), HR Burpees (Utah). As disclaimed, modify as necessary. At least YHC did not call SSH. Couldn’t bear to see 14% (we all know who they are) of the PAX refusenik that one. Disclaimer: poking fun here. Fully understand you need to (and should) modify as necessary to avoid injury. Rather have you out here than at home nursing injury.

Thankful for this morning with you men. Strong work out there. Awesome start to the day. Always an honor to lead. Q #123. T-claps to Hops for the takeout. Continue to pray for Jennings Palmer, Bout Time’s son, in his recovery from cancer. Also, Cooter in his cancer treatment and for FNG Snuffy’s father, today, as he has a heart procedure.

Snuffy – great nickname. Full disclosure: I’ve wanted to name someone that for some time. Snuffleupagus is his species as well as his last name. His full name is Aloysius Snuffleupagus, although his friends call him Snuffy. Welcome Snuff. Hopefully, HIPAA will show you how to access backblasts, Twitterverse, etc.
Some other random observations from this morning’s Mermaid Q’d painfest:
Clover looks like Brisket, at least from 15+ feet away in the gloom.
Margo loves shovel flags…he might be the only site Q left who does.
Jello does not love H-R burpees, not sure he did any today.
YHC does not love plank jacks of any variety. Didn’t do a single one today…pretty sure that exercise was responsible for shredding my groin a couple years ago. Also part of the 14% SSH refusenik army.
Champagne turned the tables on Mermaid & Haze today, calling them “angry”. He was right.
Very few of you know how to do a donkey-kick. I’ll demonstrate soon.
The cat-calling woman was commenting on Brushback’s “banker’s beard”. It brings all the girls to the yard….so to speak.
The Al-Gore prior to the knee slap jump squats (we need to name these something else, btw…I’ll work on it) was just plain diabolical.
Great Q Mermaid.
Thankful for all you knuckleheads.

Nice Q today. Better backblast. Or backflow or backwash or whatever Clover calls it.

I have to be honest, I felt a little shaken up (oppressed? objectified?) by the cat calling. Was not expecting that at 5:32am. But ultimately validated my decision not to go shirtless in honor of the traditional first sub-45 degree post of the season. As the day wore on, I appreciated those cat callers more and more. I mean, I really don’t blame them. Sure, it was likely directed at the other side of the massive circle of men doing Imperial Walkers, but nonetheless, I had the stank of success and high desirability on me all day by osmosis. I really think it fueled my performance in the office today. And for that I thank you.

I did not check the injury report on The Ocho yet, but I think Champagne’s injury went unnoticed by a lot of the casual observers (i.e., those who were not on the Six). Something about a rattlesnake or brown recluse bite on his calf. Later cleared by the F3 Team Physician, he really gave us a scare.

Questionable judgment on the hill today. Was wet, soggy, and moist. And damp.

Cobains to Brushback for mistaking him for the early-departing-Fire Marshall Bill. They look nothing alike, but alas – The Gloom. Similar to Clover = Brisket comment.

Haze was (rightfully) in Mermaid’s good ear all morning. As mentioned by Hammer at Anvil earlier this week, the Merkin is now known as the Mermaid in some parts.

Chelms quieter than usual today.

Shoe brings an enthusiasm I still can’t quite grasp. God bless you brother.

Margo I love the shovel flag so much. So much. Thank you for the informational session on how to build one afterwards. Let me know if any other site needs a flag. I’d volunteer to make one. Tclaps.

At this point someone is probably scrambling to check who approved my access to this website, but the bell cannot be unwrung. And what else do I have to do on a Friday night with the kids down to bed early than write about a workout? I mean this is America, right?
