Are You Afraid of the Dark?

430 on a Saturday and yes, YHC was awake loading up Buckets, Sandbags an agility ladder and other gear into the Camry which was draggin’ tailpipe all the way down to Blackhawk. 540 arrival to the Blackhawk site, and yes this is a very strange hour on a Saturday morning for a car to be rolling up to a bunch of baseball and soccer fields and so I received a greeting from 2 of Lancaster’s finest inquiring about what I was doing unloading a bunch of buckets and sandbags out of my car at 540AM. No charges pressed and questionable looking subject test passed, I carried on setting up the gear portion on the OCR themed workout for the day. 6 on the dot as YHC was joined by Atlas, Ringer, Erector and Jingles for the Trail pre-run. Headlamps fired up and we were off.

Warm-Up

  • Cobbler joined us as Atlas opted to warm-up the bowels
  • Short mosey around the lot for the PAX to re-warmup the legs
  • 20 SSH
  • 20 Merkins (Civilian count)
  • 20 Mountain Climbers
  • 20 Moroccan Night Club
  • 20 Hallelujahs (basically air presses given a jazzy name by Atlas, who had rejoined us after his poo by this point)
  • 20 Monkey Humpers, for the sake of doing something called Monkey Humpers…I will grow up one day

The THANG (OCR TRAIL COURSE)

In the mood to mix it up a bit, I created a circuit utilizing gear and a very dark trail, which shook out to be all and all about a 1.5mile circuit. Going through the disclaimer and different points of the circuit, YHC noted that we would be staggering the start to avoid clusterf*cks out on the course and that yes, there would likely be times where you would be alone…in the dark…by yourself…and very alone…and scared. YHC looked around to see many unnerved looking faces and at this point Cobbler opted to go try and outdo Atlas’ work on the can. Here is the course outline:

  1. 10 pull-ups on playground
  2. mosey to parking lot for 30 yd bucket carry out and back
  3. mosey to soccer fields for 50 yd sandbag carry out and back
  4. mosey to opposite end of soccer field for agility ladder merkins
  5. hit the dark and scary trail
    • .25miles in marker for 10 Burpees
    • .50 miles in marker for 20 Burpees
  6. Reverse it back hitting the 10 Burpee marker
  7. agility ladder merkins
  8. 50 yd sandbag carry out and back
  9. 30 yd bucket carry out and back
  10. Finish w/ 10 pull-ups

To close out, the PAX circled up on the playground and YHC awarded the freedom to lead…maybe too much freedom…as we did dealers choice around the circle, in which the instructions were “Do anything that you want.”

  • General – Pistol Crunch (surprise, surprise…) 10 each side
  • Ringer – Choose your own adventure picking 1 of 3 exercises to do for 30sec
    1. Plank
    2. Merkin
    3. Plyo/In-Out Merkin
  • Cobbler – When I said anything…I really meant anything but this…BURP BACK Mountain
    • 1 PAX does 2 hill sprints while other PAX do burpees, 100 aggregate burpees between the PAX made for some interesting early morning math where someone managed to do negative burpees…ATLAS…and so glad that the number was 100 instead of 200
  • Atlas – Squats…yes, the boring, uninspiring, plain Jane, average Joe Squats…but 50 OF THEM! That’s how you throw some seasoning onto dish and make it a winner
  • Erector – short on time, but not on pain as he dealt out the 20 OYO Diamond Merkins

Moleskinny

YHC will keep this brief as it has already started to turn into a Lord of the Rings length novel. Beautiful morning for a UvU style workout utilizing the best traits of the Blackhawk site. Solid work by all of the PAX to get out there, push themselves and manage not to soil their pants whether due to their fear of the dark or the Taco Dinner and Bourbon shots the night before. Jingles, way to get after the pre-run and OCR course and make it all the way through the course before you had to peel out, appreciate you coming out and look forward to getting you on the Q schedule soon. Erector gutty performance after logging 12+ trail miles the day before and absolutely destroying the legs, YOU CAN AND WILL CONQUER THE BEAST! Ringer as always killin’ the pre-run pace and appreciate you coming back for YHC on cone pick-up duty to make sure I hadn’t been claimed by any of the wilderness creatures. Atlas & Cobbler dropped the deuce and you were both full tilt and boogie afterwards and delivered the most punishing of the dealers choice for sure.

Check out the Pre-Blast for the SOB Holiday Party on 12/16

https://f3southcharlotte.com/2017/10/27/2018-sob-holiday-party-pre-blast/

Also, for an entrepreneurs out there I have an opportunity for you. Open up a diner in Indian Land. Yes, just a casual breakfast diner. No need to put in a fancy bar and 36 tvs. Only requirement is some sort of business acumen and maybe some experience with maintaining a bank account and/or checkbook. It would be like shooting fish in a barrel will all of the geriatrics in Sun City right in the area + a group of sweaty greaseballs on a Saturday morning…the last owner just couldn’t figure out how to pull the trigger.

Over & Out

-GENERAL

18 wheels and a couple dozen merkins

8 (then 9, back to 8, then back to 9) men woke up to a crisp 50 degree morning and decided the kick the weekend off right with another edition of heavy-flow RockZERO.  With no shovel flag in sight, a minimal disclaimer given, we set off for YHC’s first Q in a while.  Here’s what went down:

Warmup yog through the Calvary parking lot to somewhere near the middle.

COP:

  • SSH x 20
  • Imperial Walkers x 20
  • Low Slow Merkins x 15
  • Low Slow Squats x 15
  • Slow Rising Merkins x 10 (start down, slow count up)

With the AO requirements of getting in 3 miles, YHC decided to knock most of that out on the front side of the workout. Head out of Calvary down Rea to Bevington and into CVS loading area.  Avoiding an 18 wheeler and waiting for the six, we did some plank work and picked up a temporary pax.  Mosey to the wall behind CVS.

  • People’s Chair + Air Presses x 100
  • Wall Plank
  • People’s Chair (lower + heels off the ground)
  • Balls To The Wall + 5 inverted presses

Out of the parking lot, right on Bevington, right on Elm.  Elbow plank at corner of Elm and 51. Run to Calvary and head to rock pile on 51 side.  Pick a ‘tweener rock that you can both carry for short distances and still get something out of for lifting.

  • Double 11’s w/ rocks – Squats & Presses (do both exercises on each side – 10 squats/1 press, run back 9 squats/2 presses, etc.)
  • LBC’s x 25
  • Double 7’s w/ rocks – Lunges & Triceps
  • J-Lo’s x 10 (this is where we picked up a different 9th pax – Flipper who Q’d at DaVinci earlier)

Mosey back to middle parking lot, partner up, and line up A BREAST.

  • Partner 1 runs to end of lot and back
  • Partner 2 starts moving exercise
  • When P1 meets P2, flapjack.  Rotate through exercises until both pax at opposite end of lot. Switch exercises after each partner does a round.
    • Burpee Broad Jumps
    • Bear Crawls
    • Crab Walk

Circle up for some Mary:

  • Dolly x 20
  • Freddie Mercury x 20
  • Slow Freddie Mercury x 10
  • Slow Rising Merkins x 10

AYG BTF (All you got back to flag – although no flag in this case)

We Done!

Ye naked moleskinny:

First off, Happy 53rd Birthday Blades of Glory!  You don’t look at day over 39 and will always move much more gracefully than the rest of us no matter what your age.  Great work out there today and happy to have you out.

When we started up, BOG asked since YHC was Q how many miles we were going to get in.  He was concerned this had turned into a running workout and didn’t want to do 5+ miles.  No worries, there is the 3 mile minimum and we try not go over that by much either.  In the COP, the slow rising merkins just kinda popped in my head at the last second.  It was a crowd pleaser.  You’re welcome.

I knew I needed to get off campus to make sure we hit the 3 mile minimum, and my favorite wall is in the CVS loading dock area, so that’s where we went.  On approach there was an 18 wheeler trying to get into the parking lot and a guy trying to guide it.  So we diverted left into the small lot trying to stay out of its way, but unfortunately that was just where he was going.  As some of the pax started to get a little worried, the 18 wheeler’s guide hit the ground with us and planked up (pax #9).  Wish he could have stuck around as he was far less worried about getting run over than the rest of us!

The wall work is always fun…said nobody.  Shaky legs, shaky arms, and then trying to do upside down merkins while B2W is always an adventure.  I don’t know if anyone else actually did them as all the blood was rushing to my head and I was trying not to pass out.

Choosing a rock is always a difficult process.  I told everyone to pick a rock that was good for running and lifting.  As Abba stated it: a ‘tweener.  You don’t want to go too small, but you always regret later choosing the bigger one (TWSS).  I think Jet Fuel regretted his rock almost immediately as that one is usually reserved for Hoover.  BOG grabbed the panhandle rock.  Solid choice.  Big League Chew grabbed a more substantial rock than last time, but quickly discarded it completely.  #vetmove.

It turns out that when doing Mary/COP exercises, if you just slow them down they all of a sudden seem ridiculous.  The very slow Freddie Mercuries at the end were awful.  And since Flipper wasn’t there for the slow rising merkins at the beginning (and since they were a crowd pleaser) we did those to finish.  Bad move.

Great work by everyone out there today.  Thanks for having me lead as it has been a little while since I did the Q thing.    Felt good and terrible all at the same time.   Hope to get on the schedule a little more often.  Thanks to Abba for the takeout.

Announcements:

A modified Murph workout??

So, another successful fitness experience was enjoyed by all!

After a brief discussion about the meaning of time we moved down to the lower lot in unison and warmed up with SSH X 25, then a mosey to the forest and back for IW X 20 followed by a mosey to the forest and back.

Delegated Q to McGee for 6 minutes of Mary: Rosalita, Dos Rosalita (?), Box Cutter, LBCs, and some other cool stuff, then mosey to forest and up to playground for partner merkins and pull ups 5 sets of 10 quality.

Mosey to main field for block exercises–(Our blocks have been destroyed –need to replenish) partner does triceps while other does “speed skater training” VERY DISAPPOINTING” will have to work this in during another workout…

Back to the playground to finish up the remaining sets of Pull Ups and merkins with partner.

Back to main field for 100 yd runs while partner does curls with blocks X 3.

Begin the first set of squats 20, on the way to 200. Mosey to THE WALL for Wall sits, squats, BTW, with laps around track in between.

Return to start for cool down with Lunge Walk, Merkins, LBCs, Peter Parker x 15.

All total +2.5 miles running, 200 squats, 100 pull ups, 170 merkins, plus some other stuff…pretty good stats…a modified Murph workout??

Sanka… Everything You Love About Meathead

Posted by Voodoo on behalf of Sanka:

Repeat round 2 more times, increasing reps to 15 and then 20.

Round 3:

  • Lawnmower right

Moleskin:

After kicking out way too many instructions and getting the playlist started, we fell into a quick rhythm with little chatter. The reps added up quickly and a few audibles were called, but mostly the workout was taken down without complaint. T-claps everyone – solid work.

Thanks for the opportunity to lead. Always an honor.

2017 SOB Holiday Party Pre-blast

It’s hard to believe, but it’s that time of year again. BRR is in the rearview, hats and gloves are coming off the shelves, and the Holiday Party is starting to come up in announcements after your workouts. This year’s party is brought to you by the SOB Board and many of the details are below. We will be adding to them/answering questions as they come up. Tickets are also available now (link below) along with an option to add on 1 or more donations to support the families of the Union County Community Shelter.

Before getting to all the details, we just want to ask you to please do whatever you can to try and make it to the party. There are few times in the year (if not just this one) when we have a chance to all come together from across the region and spend some quality time getting to know each other, and each other’s spouses, better. It is also a great opportunity to introduce your M to all these guys you come home talking about and hopefully give her a better idea of exactly why F3 means so much to us.

Step 1
Step 2

Tickets: You can reserve your tickets using button above (https://www.eventbrite.com/e/f3-sob-holiday-party-charity-collection-tickets-38582286658). Once you have reserved them, please pay via PayPal to the following e-mail address: f3sobs@gmail.com. When you send the money, use the Friends & Family option and include your F3 Name as well as “Holiday Party” in the note. Thank you! If you don’t have access to PayPal, let one of us (listed below) know and we will find another way for you to pay.

Charity: When selecting your tickets, you will see an option to add-on $15 or $25 gift cards to benefit the Union County Community Shelter. For each one of these that you purchase, the board will be buying an actual gift card (dinner, bowling, movies) to deliver to the UCCS. The staff there will then hand these cards out to the members of the community in need so that they and their families can enjoy a special night out during the holiday season. This is a great cause, a great way to spread holiday cheer to those who may have less reason to celebrate than us, and a great way to support our F3 community in Western Union County.

When: Saturday, December 16th from 5 PM to Midnight (technically we can stay as late as we like but have to turn the music down at midnight)

Where: Red Barn Events (6012 Jeanne Dr, Waxhaw, NC 28173) – http://www.redbarnwaxhaw.com/

We wanted to find a place that was in a central location for all the SOB PAX whether you are coming from Ballantyne, Waxhaw, Indian Land or Western Union County. This is a really nice venue in a large rustic barn on a big, secluded piece of land. It’s a family-owned business and Doug, who owns it with his wife, is a long-time Stallings police officer and is excited about hosting the F3 SOB Holiday Party.  The barn is open air so it may be a little chilly, but we will have a bonfire as well as many firepits going to keep everyone warm and provide some nice atmosphere.

Food/Drink: BYOB. Wine and beer are welcome, hard liquor is technically not allowed since we will not have a bartender present. Water and soda will be provided as well as a catered BBQ dinner. Exact details on the dinner will be forthcoming, but Madame Tussauds is the master of BBQ and promises to pick a great vendor.

Entertainment: Aside from the 2nd F, there will be plenty of entertainment available. The barn has a great built-in sound system and the plan at the moment is to play music from a playlist or service like Spotify. If anyone wants to volunteer their services creating a playlist or anyone wants to take a stab at playing some live music (looking at you Kid Rock and Wild Turkey), you are more than welcome to do so just let us know. We will also have access to cornhole, beer pong tables, plenty of space for tossing around footballs, etc, and even a large stocked fishing pond (you can even come earlier in the afternoon if you want to get some fishing in — we have the venue for the entire day).

Dress: Warm and casual. Recommend not wearing sweatpants, but whatever floats your boat is welcome. Can’t wait to see Mario’s sleeveless ugly Christmas sweater.

Cost: We tried our best to keep the cost low to encourage as much attendance as possible. $30 per person covers the venue, entertainment, your dinner, non-alcoholic refreshments and all the 2F you can handle.

Transportation: We looked into shuttle buses but it would have pushed the price up too high. There is tons of parking at the farm, so if you want to drive yourself go for it. For those who plan to drink, please please please plan for a designated driver. If that’s not an option, both Uber and Lyft now offer scheduled rides so you should be able to get picked up at a decent time even with it being a little ways out there. For those up in Ballantyne, carpooling from The Vine is a great option as well to reduce the number of necessary drivers. Fire Hazard alone can fit at least 8 people into that truck of his.

If you have any questions at all, please reach to any of us on the board (Madame Tussauds, Soft Pretzel, Argonaut, General_, Frehleys Comet, Wild Turkey, Thin Mint). Hope to see each and every one of you there on December 16th.

“Just wait…McGee will show”

Those were the words that Fault Line said as 5:29 rolled around. He continued to vouch for him and said that McGee’s a veteran and he’s known for not communicating but showing up in the last minute, he’ll be here…….5:30…he didn’t.

I did mention it to him last week during some exercise at the Matrix and he confirmed. It’s always a touchy subject, do you remind the person supposed to Q two or three times, or do you just trust they will show? Opinions? You know you remind that guy and he’s like “Yes, a-hole, I told you I would be there!”. Okay a-hole was for emphasis, but that’s what it feels like.

Anyway, looking at the veteran group of guys, I knew we didn’t need a plan. No matter how good the substi-Q would be I would still get ridiculed throughout.

What happened…

Ran to the neighborhood across 51 and warmed up. Alf, worrying about his smack talk quota for the day went to his classic, “your low slow squat isn’t very low or slow”.

7s with Jump Squats at the bottom and Merkins at the top – after we’re done we were at 1.2 miles

Run over and grab a lifting rock and go to the gazebo.

Partner up

Cumulative exercises- Partner 1 Runs, Partner 2 Exercises

Exercise 1 – 300 chest presses with rock

Exercise 2 – 100 step ups with rock over head

Circle up with rocks –

In cadence:

  1. Curls, rotate and grab a different rock

2. Squats, rotate

3.Tricep extension, rotate

4. Iso squat, press rock forward, rotate

5. Shoulder press – return rocks

Run down to parking lot…find a parking line and plank.

5 merkins, plank walk right, 5 plank jacks, plank walk left, 4 merkins, etc. down to 1

Run over to half wall..

Partner one does derkins, donkey kicks, situps. Partner 2 runs the stairs

We did this twice…

Run to back road…

Run back to main lot doing increasing burpees at each street light,

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 = 28 total to wrap it up.

Finished right at 6:15

Moleskine – PAX Breakdown

Fletch was dealing with a bad back but still can turn on the burners, especially up hills. I could tell his squat form wasn’t what it usually is- impeccable.

Alf was the fastest guy today. He paid me to say that.

Turkey Leg was the second fastest guy. Alf also paid me to say that.

Fault Line always drops hints that he hates burpees so I waited till the very end to do them. He still goes 100% on everything he does.

Madison is consistent strong at all of it. I know if I’ve got him on Q I don’t need to remind him. You need guys like this in your life.

First time meeting No Regerts and he did awesome. Hope he becomes a Kevlar mainstay.

Tackling Dummy is twice as strong as all of us so there aren’t really any “lifting rocks” in the pile for him.

Big League Chew is just a badass country boy with the golden voice – he’s got your Q next week.

Announcements:

A51 F3 Christmas Party – Dec 8th, Friday night – after 7:30 – Seaboard in Downtown Matthews

Nov 4th – Tackling Dummy has the details, I forgot the name of the race. It benefits Special Needs Adults and it’s 5k which starts at Christ Covenant.

Island of Misfit Toys… Gear Edition

The preblast went out, it said we would be taking a field trip.
The disclaimer was made because recently we have been fairly centralized in the parking lot area and hill of Sun Valley Middle School, and let’s be honest Zip-A-Dee didn’t coin the lexicon term #HairbandMile years ago because I like to run.

I showed up and needed to first pay my fantasy football league debt as the lowest scoring team last week which was 50 kettle bell presses while in peoples chair. Knocked that out for Slingblade (who didn’t even show up) and had a few minutes left to wait on the PAX. (there were 3 witnesses already there to verify)

Because this is gear and I learned a long time ago from Brown, High Tide and others that we need to shows the guns off, sleeveless F3 gear shirt was the way to roll in the 38 or so degree weather and off we went!

Well, not yet, grab a bell disclaimer given and circle up right here for…

Side Straddle Hops x 15 In Cadence…
Oh crap we killed Gypsy! Thankfully disclaimer was done, not sure if he broke his back, tore a muscle/ligament or if his uterus collapsed because I have never lost anyone on the first exercise before! He seemed alive so we continued on with Gypsy doing Gumby type movements in the background, the only thing missing was Madison’s Lularoe leggings.

Ye Olde Molskine:
Much smaller group than normal but still a solid group with a great effort.

#Tclaps to Gypsy for pushing through today, #IceUpSon and take some Ibuprofen I’m guessing whatever you did will be felt for a few days. Even with the injury you were killing it on the track laps, I would have liked to have seen you and Glass Joe battle during a lap or two but Glass Joe was running at the same time as me.

And I should probably mention I beat GJ in a lap! #TruthNugget
I may have had a decent head start.
Although I did hear Lamont say that was probably the fastest he has seen me run, that may not be saying much but I’ll take it.

Ever since Outland and then Overdrive and other AOs launched we affectionately referred to ourselves as the island of misfit toys, we are an odd bunch but friendly and today was no different. Between #mumblechatter about Bernanke’s legs during Mary (thankful I was facing the opposite direction) to Hoffa’s rarely seen (for good reason) Exotic Penguin Mating dance and of course Lamont’s story about his horse being violated, it was an odd and yet typical morning. It’s a great group to suffer in the gloom with and thankful and honored to lead this morning.

And a special shoutout to Countertop for helping instill the confidence in me to start the first weekday UC workout and to Glass Joe who I pulled in to co-siteQ with me when he was unsure what he could offer at that time. We’ve come a long way, 3 years ago on October 10th to be exact! #ISI

Holding the Poop

Ten men gathered for the substitute Fire Hazard Q.  The details were vague the night before other than we were going to find some pull up bars.  Unfortunately One Niner thought The Brave started at 5:30 and searched for the next forty five minutes looking for us where there would be pull up bars.

Disclaimer was given.  There was mention out of the gate about needing to poop.  Options were given but Transporter decided he would withhold.  A quick jog up to the Starbucks parking lot for a intense warm up.  IW x 10.

We crossed over Johnston Rd and stopped at the corner of Johnston and Ballantyne Commons.  Instructions were given that we were running to the corner of Ballantyne Commons and Community House.  You were to stop at every third light post and alternate between merkins x 10 and LBCs x 10.  Collect the six and head to the next round.

Run down Community House towards Johnston.  The destination was the stop light at the corner of Community House and Endhaven.  Again stopping at every third light for diamond merkins x 10 and American Hammers x 10.  Collect the six and mosey over to Endhaven Elementary.

At Endhaven divide up into teams of two.  Size and speed do not matter.  As a team do 100 pull ups.  Partner one runs to the stop sign on Endhaven while partner two knocks out the pull ups.  We called it before most could complete the cycle.  Some people were worried about getting back on time or worried about doing 100 pull ups.  You know who you are.

Mosey back over to Community House and Endhaven for the return trip.  No big surprise here.  Stop at every third light to do wide arm merkins x 10 and knees to chest x 10.  Stop at the corner of Ballantyne Commons and Community House.  Collect the six.

Continue to head back to the AO stopping at every three lights.  At this point Transporter was asking about bathroom options.  Several were given but they did not have the correct thread count on the toilet paper so he continued to clinch.  We did military press merkins x 10 and flutters x 10.  Cross over Johnston and stop at the B of A parking lot.  partner back up and do 100 merkins total while your partner runs to the first lit light on the left hand side.  Walk over and circle up in the parking lot for two minutes of the Haggis plank.   Modify as needed.  There was a lot of modification.  Done!

Moleskin: Great seeing Fahvra back out.  Always appreciate it when he can make over the state line.  Glad the family is doing well and good luck next week at the Spartan.  For the rest of you doing that thing good luck as well.

Glad Doc and Transporter made the drive this morning.  Good to see our Union County people.  Transporter made a good point that we need to return the favor and get out to their AOs more often as well as take some Q spots.  Big numbers there.

Also glad Nard Dog found us and sorry One Niner did not.  He tried hard.

We got over 5 miles in so good work by all.  We do not get to do pull ups enough.  They are hard after the first twenty.

Announcements: Preblast coming out for the Christmas Party today, tomorrow or soon.

Joe Davis sign ups are live and the price goes up 11/1.  Get it done.

Enjoy the day.

Champagne sent YHC the following message: “If you are taking requests a good old AMRAP would be nice.”  He loves him a good AMRAP.  Not really YHC’s style, but hey, why not.  16 Pax joined the QIC for another Friday Centurion.  Disclaimer given.  Off we go.

I have to say that the Infinity AMRAP was a tough set with all the stairs.  You are welcome Champagne.

Purple Haze is in such fine shape that he repeatedly called out the QIC asking for more difficult workout suggestions.  At one point, he noted that this was his warmup and he would need to figure out another workout for later.  #beast

Lorax ate meats at Chima last night.  He smelled like a mix of pork and beef.  Can’t say it was a bad smell either.  The protein served him well this morning.  He was out front.  Brilleaux was right there with him.  Snuka was crushing it as well #respect.  Tagalong plowed through the Redemption loop with a #3 finish behind the aforementioned Pax.  The crew pushed hard today.  Well done men.

POTUS declared the opioid epidemic a public health emergency yesterday.  142 people die each day in this country from opioid related overdoses.  Rock Thrill’s brother, Joe Davis, died of an accidental overdose after 2 years of sobriety.  The Joe Davis Run for Recovery has raised over $125K for Keystone Substance Abuse Services.  That $125K, from my perspective, equates to hope.  Hope for those who need help with addiction treatment.  When hope is lost, there is not much left.  My brother lost hope, and he died by suicide six years ago.  Please consider running or supporting this race in some capacity.  While it is now a public health emergency, the local efforts will still far outweigh anything the federal government will do.  The federal emergency fund currently sits at $57K.  That doesn’t go very far.  Make a difference right here, where we live.  Community leadership opportunity.  Great to have Rock Thrill back at Centurion.

Gotta run and get ready for F3 Golf.  Thanks men, for showing up today.  Great work.  Be there for someone today.  Ask for help if you need it.

Laces Out Party featuring 2 miles with Mr. Jack Webb

YHC woke up this morning wondering if the first fall cold spell would scare any of the pax away. However, 13 pax including 1 FNG made the smart decision to come on out towards Peak 51 today. After a proper disclaimer was given the pax moseyed on down towards the church parking lot via trade street. After a few laps around the church parking lot the pax circled up and the beat down began.

COP:

SSH -15 IC

IW-15 IC

LBC-15 IC

LSS-10

Main Thang:

As I told the group to circle up down the line, Bullwinkle said we getting ready for suicide’s and YHC responded no I have something better planned.
Start of with 6 Jump Squats at the bottom of the church parking lot

Run all you got to other end of Church parking lot 1 Burpee

Run all you got back to bottom. Rinse and repeat until up to 1 Jump Squat and 6 Burpees.

If you finish early, plank it up at the front of the church with some various plank exercises. Geraldo said to YHC that isn’t it #BurpeeFreeOctober however not while YHC was the Q.

After two 10 counts the pax moseyed on down Mosey back to school parking lot for some station workout. While waiting for the six YHC called for two burpees towards everyone. YHC then explained the station workout, after calling for Jump Squats twice I heard mumble chatter for more burpee’s. If the pax ask for pain YHC is more than willing to welcome burpees.

Starfish repeat with a twist:
Middle 10 LBC each time

Station 1: 10 Jump Squats(nearest picnic tables)

Station 2: 10 Pull Ups

Station 3: 10 CDD

Station 4: 10 Burpee’s

Plank it up when done.

10 Count- 2 laps around the track All You got then plank it up in the bus parking lot when finished. Follow

Mosey to baseball field, it’s been quite awhile since Peak has experienced the visit of a well known friend. Mr. Jack Webb, 1 slow american following 4 air presses, going all the way up to 5 slow americans and 20 air presses. After Jack Webb plan was to mosey on back to launch to help give the pax there money’s worth. While waiting for the six, YHC led the pax in 50 Peak 51 air presses.

A crowd favorite was then called balls to the walls 10 count against the church wall afterwards the group circled up. For a quick Mary.

Mary:

15 Rosalita’s IC

15 LBCs

Time was called however, YHC was informed we still had 3 minutes left. At that time I had recorded 1.95 miles on my watch, pax was instructed to run a lap around the parking lot to reach 2 miles. After 1 lap and at 2.03 miles time was called. Excellent movement by the pax all around in a classic Peak 51 workout.

Moleskin:

When YHC planned this workout I had the feeling we would get some miles running however, the pax killed it out there today. Most times I’ve led we’ve gotten around the 1.5 miles to 1.75 at Peak never close to 2 miles. So when YHC saw we were so close and had time I decided we had to push for that hard earned second mile.

Welcome FNG Laces Out, Smokey Eh’d him to come on it and LacesUp was killing it out in the workout today. You’ve got a great mentor in Smokey I except to see a lot out of you and one day being the Q for a Peak workout.

T-claps to Sensei, Slim Fast and Nomad for joining me on the traditional Peak 51 Pre Run. Wasn’t quite YHC’s PR breaking 5K speed but was filled with lots of excellent 2nd F opportunities. Y’all should join us sometime it truly is a great way to start your Thursday morning.

Bullwinkle was killing it out there, Bullwinkle was at my VQ back in May and has been at all 3 of my Peak 51 Q’s. He continues to get better each and every time, keep up the excellent work Bullwinkle.

We didn’t really have a real six today, everyone kept pushing each other along the way, truly helped make this my 3rd Q at Peak my most successful one to date.

Peak 51 has been apart of my life here in Charlotte for just over a year now, first workout I posted at. Not only is it an excellent place for all pax to enter into Area 51 and F3. Thank you Lois and Sensei for asking me to lead, it is always an honor to lead at Peak 51.
